Super Mario Bros 3: the Last Grand NES Adventure   janus

Before making the jump to the Super Nintendo, and after recuperating from his unusual Super Mario Bros. 2 adventure, Mario is back to his usual self and must rescue the Princess once more in Super Mario Bros 3. That game was one of the best ones of its kind from the 8-bits era.

Graphics: 9/10

The graphics in this game are really impressive for 1990 and quite an improvement from Super Mario Bros 2, which was released two years before. Mario is more finely-drawn and looks less pixelated than his Mario 2 counterpart (unless he’s small, in which case he just looks a less pixelated version of his Super Mario Bros 1 version), although his eyes aren’t as neatly defined. You can even see him 360 degrees when he wags his raccoon tail – the Tanooki suit even make him face you for a few seconds.

Speaking of the Tanooki suit, Mario has the most transformations of any Mario games ever (at least until the 16-bits era). Of course he can just grow up with the regular mushrooms and throw fireballs (he becomes completely orange). But then, he can get a raccoon tail when he get a leaf/P-wing and fly (the latter gives him infinite flying power for the level unless he gets hit. If he survives the level he then becomes regular Raccoon Mario). He can also fly with the Tanooki suits and turn into a stone statue, making him avoid damage for a few seconds. Finally, he can also get a Hammer Brother suit (which are pretty rare), thrown hammers and be protected from small fireballs spewed by some piranha plants. Oh, there is also the Frog suit which can make you swim much faster.

Fun fact: the end-of-level King has a different thing to say depending of what you wear.

The world is divided in eight distinctive zones, all becoming increasingly bigger and bigger. They also have a theme that greatly influences the background: Grassworld is quite green with dancing trees; Desert World is full of sand (and even quicksand that can kill you), there is a huge pyramid to explore and dancing palm trees in the background; Water World is full of water and you have to swim around a lot – you might even have to face the Hammer Bros. in a puddle of water if they happen to be on water when you hit them; the Giant World has indeed oversize monsters in most levels and when you break giant brick blocks they break into regular blocks (the Hammer Brother is so big that his jump can paralyze you momentarily); the Sky World is divided in two (the sky part in exclusively in the clouds) and the level linking the two realistically makes you climb to the clouds; the Ice World does have realistically slippery ice – you can also make it melt with your fireballs, potentially unleashing foes; the Pipe World has many passages and can get confusing; finally the Dark World is indeed dark; the third map only lights you up, hiding where you can go.

In addition, all worlds have a map where you must make your way to the airship. Where the individual zones stands can sometimes give a clue on what’s waiting for you – if the square is partly/totally in water, you know you’ll have water. You will also come across Hammer Brother(s), which will give you a prize should you defeat them. They can throw hammers, boomerangs or fireballs. You will also come across Mushroom houses, where Toad will give you one free item (mushroom, flower or leaf); some inaccessible/bonus house will give you rare items like the P-wing (always able to fly) or an anchor (the ship can’t move).

Finally, your enemies and not only better-drawn (the Goombas have actual faces and fangs and Lakitu has an evil grim) but also moving in more diversified ways – some throw blocks at you and some try to eat you. You can finally grab shells, which can help you hit question-mark blocks when you don’t have a raccoon tail. Mid-bosses (Boom-Boom inside the small fortresses) come in different colors/abilities and backgrounds (some happen on a treadmill), and the Koopa Kids (how the hell did Bowser find a mate?!) all look difference and attack you differently (their ships are also different).

Music: 9/10

Mario 3 is probably the game that got me hooked to video game music. I remember once in primary school where we had a free afternoon where people brought some games. One friend brought an NES with Mario 3. I would just sit down and listen to him playing.

Mario 3 has a wide array of tracks. Although they loop quickly (the Desert World loops after like five seconds) they are nevertheless very interesting and became instant classics. Each world map has a distinctive theme (Grass World is the best), and each map has about seven different tracks for all its zones – my favorite being the one where you jump a lot like 1-6. Special mention for the underwater theme, my second favorite theme (it makes me want to spend more time exploring the ocean). The Boom-Boom fortress sounds quite dramatic, and the airship sounds very solemn– the intro song when Toad jumps in panic does translate his panic well.

Sound effects are also pretty good. I just love the sound the “acceleration bar” makes; it makes me want to jump right away! The raccoon tail is beautifully done and is very appropriate for “tail wagging.” The transformation sound with a raccoon tail is also very appropriate but should have also been used when transforming into Fire Mario (it uses the growing-up sound instead). The fire pits you sometimes cross in the airship sound very hot, and the kicking sound is well-done. Finally, the Hammer Brothers’ boomerang sound very realistic.

Addictiveness: 9/10

The music was enough to get me hooked to the game, even though I didn’t progress that much through it.

For the others, this game has a lot to offer. (Almost) every zones have secrets waiting to be discovered. In the end, you will be awarded one-ups, coins – which can lead to an N-spade card bonus round or a coin boat at the end of which you have to confront Hammer Brothers – or even special power-ups. There are also a total of three flutes (that sound like the ocarina in The Legend of Zelda) that are very well-hidden; they can make you skip the world you are in and actually bring you to the eighth world instantly if you use two consecutive flutes!

If you’re lucky, you will also be awarded a Jugmen Cloud that can make you skip an entire level, a hammer to break rocks and therefore find shortcuts/get to “rare items” mushroom houses (frog/tanooki/hammer brother suits) or a music box to put the Hammer Brothers to sleep for a few turns.

And let’s not forget about the Atari cameo. Indeed, if Mario and Luigi end up in the same zone, you will fight Atari still until one player dies or one has five coins. You can even steal your opponent’s card by hitting the POW block.

Depth: 9/10

This goes hand in hand with the addictiveness part.

This game is HUGE. Regular zones have a lot to offer (as stated above), and each world also has many optional zones you might still want to complete, if not for challenge at least to try and get a special item. In 1-4 for example, getting EVERY coin (including the blocks you turn to coins with a P-Switch) will make a special Mushroom House appear and reward you with a P-Wing (for even Worlds, you get an anchor like in 2-2).

All world until the Pipe World also have (at least) one spade house where you can get lives if you can assemble a mushroom (2 lives), a flower (3) or a star (5).

In fact, the worlds are getting increasingly bigger as you progress. In the Desert World the map is divided in three parts, whereas the Ice World has like four or five! And in the Dark World, you have to cross three maps before you can get to Bowser’s Castle, which in itself is also pretty big – it’s also less confusing than Bowser’s Castle in Mario 1. And the Dark World are huge with lots of traps/auto-scrolling to test your patience.

Difficulty: 7/10

This may seem high to some video game veterans. But as I’ve said in the past I’m an RPG guy…

Now the basic controls are fairly smooth. As in Mario 1, most will tend to keep the B button pressed in order to be running constantly. And with arsenal of powerups – you can even get invincibility stars to start a zone – dealing with enemies can be managed. Also, unlike Mario 1, you don’t revert back to Small Mario once you get your “super powerups” beyond the mushroom which is a big plus. In a few levels you can even travel inside a shoe that protects you from black plants that normally hit you; you can even kill piranha plants by jumping on them with the shoe!

However, the difficulty level increases tremendously starting in the Desert World. People with low dexterity will find it hard to jump over those draughts (and the Mad Sun that accompanies them). Trying to slide under a one-block space is also difficult inside the Pyramid. Fortresses and airships can get pretty frustrating too. The former has a lot of lava, spirits, fireballs looming around and spikes going up and down quickly to make your life difficult. When Boom-Boom is flying, getting him is quite a challenge. And ghosts float pretty quickly – quicker than in Super Mario World – so you will need to look at them often.

The airship is always auto-scrolling, meaning that you can die if you get squeezed by the screen. It’s full of cannons with strange shooting patterns – they aim left-right but the cannon balls go in diagonal. Later ships have fire pits you must avoid and “screws” you most ride in a timely manner if you don’t want to fall. And in the Dark World, some of them have such huge gaps that jumping over is nearly impossible without a P-wing – the parts of the ship are too small to have a good acceleration. There are also wrench-throwing enemies that hardly seem to die even when you jump on them…

Finally, the Koopa Kids are quite a handful. Like Boom-Boom, you defeat them after jumping on them three times. However, for the first two times they jump into their shells and can harm you if they touch you. Plus, they have a wand that shoots magic beams – sometimes those beams stay until you hit your third time.

Nevertheless, I warmly recommend Super Mario Bros 3. The graphics are beautiful, the music is addicting (and much better than it SNES remix in Super Mario All-Star) and there is a depth that was only matched with SNES games. Will you be able to find all the secrets?

Super Mario Bros. 3: NES Good Days   Pokefan3125
"Hey Bro, want to play SMB3?"
The answer was always HECK YEAH! When I played the NES system, I always don't forget to play Super Mario Bros. 3. This was NES's golden moment. It's shining day. Now, this is my second review, so I got the idea. By the way, thanks Vizzed for making this all possible, well, lets start with this review today!
Graphics: 9/10
In the early 1990's, NES had the best graphics ever in video games. Well, in my opinion it is! Now, I wasn't born when this game was released, but I have played it over, and over, and over again tones of times before. Now, pixelized Mario is always good. They had it since the late 90's. And we always didn't care for it. The graphics of Mario games just make you want to play it. I always check the front covers to see the previews of the game. I mean, I don't check it for graphics. Because they don't always show the graphics on the front covers. But the NES, they just took it to the maximum.
Sound: 9/10
The sound of Mario has always been good. This was one of the best, catchy sounds in the gaming history. My best sound? The world 1 music. It just catches you, and it fits with the concept of the map. Dancing cacti, anyone?
Addictiveness: 10/10
WOW, is this game addicting! I have always been a Super Mario Bros. addict since the very first time I played the game! And this game just made my addiction worst. Every time I look at the Nintendo Entertainment System, I just wanted to play it and play with Mario and help him rescue Princess Peach for like the 6th time. I mean, you just want to play it all day, and finish the game! Game over? You don't quit! You just start it all over again!
Story: 7/10
Well, can the Mario team just make a different story then the same old thing? Like, Bowser captures Princess Peach, Mario figures out Bowser's schemes, Mario defeats Bowser minions, Mario kills Bowser and kisses Princess Peach. Is Mario doing it to just kiss Peach? No, it can't be. I'm just going to e-mail Nintendo and suggest them a different story so the reviews story will go UP.
Depth: 9/10
The game is long! That's the first thing I'll say about the game. It has 8 worlds (Only not if you believe the hoax "The 9th world", which isn't true, because its a hoax) like most Mario games. I really like that way, I really do. But you still can figure out the secrets after you finish the game. Like the flutes, for speed runners, its a tool to be faster in the game. But for regular gamers, Its just a fun way to skip hard worlds.
Difficulty: 5/10
Its really not that hard. If you play with the original controls, Its a real breeze. But if you play with the Retro Game Room controls, not so much. But either way, the game is fun. I mean, come on! Its fun, you have to play it. The hardest world is always the last. And also the final boss, but they didn't really overpower the final boss. Nintendo is a really strategic gaming company. They know what difficulty they need for the perfect game. Not to easy, not to hard.
"So, Whats the overall?"
Drum roll! Dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun! I give it a...
9.3 Overall Ranking!!!
Why? Well, I did some math, too. And I actually asked myself, "Did this game get successful quickly?" And it did, so I added to the overall. I also asked myself, "With all those rankings, what do other people think?" So I checked their reviews, and see what they thought. So I said, "9.3 is perfect!" So, that's it for this review! This is Pokefan3125, "Super Mario bros. Addict" Signing out! (P.S, I reached my goal of 650 words)

Super Mario Bros 3: The Standard all Platform Games Abide by   SWTerra
EDIT: Whoops, for some reason the scores cleared out on the ratings. I've fixed that.
From a completely unknown game, to the game just about everyone knows about, I take my reviewing lens here and focus it on an all-time classic, Super Mario Bros 3.
== Overall ==
Super Mario Bros 3 has been universally acclaimed throughout its 25+ year history at this point, so there's really not too much for me to explain that isn't already known. However, I may as well explain a bit as precaution.
Super Mario Bros 3 is the last of the trilogy of games released on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES for short). It was released in 1989, after being shown in the feature film "The Wizard." Its hype and commercializing were obviously well-justified; even today, this game is seen as the greatest NES game ever made, and is still referenced in many ways. Its formula is also still used as a baseline in most platform games to this day. But what makes it so great?
Note: I will once again avoid going over story in this review, although I will give a score for it, since technically there actually is story in here. There’s really no reason to go over the obvious story that encompasses almost all mainstream Mario games, being the simple “save the princess” cliché that it is, and if you’re looking at this game for story, then, quite frankly, you should look somewhere else.
== Graphics: 10/10 ==
Super Mario Bros 3, right up there with the likes of Kirby's Adventure (a game that came out in 1990), had graphics that further defined the golden years of Nintendo. As far as the NES went, the graphics were the prime of its time. The detail and color of the sprites, the beautiful backgrounds, and the smart overall design less to one of the most beautiful games of its era, and clearly pushed the limits of the NES altogether, while still keeping the game itself from lagging (something that Kirby's Adventure was unable to avoid, although I can't speak for its performance on its Japanese counterpart, the Famicom (short for Family Computer) Disk System (as in Floppy Disks, not CDs), which is notably better than the NES).
== Sound: 10/10 ==
Right next to the ground theme from the original Super Mario Bros four years prior, the athletic theme from Super Mario Bros 3 is probably one song most people immediately think of when they think Mario. The first Super Mario Bros is not the only Mario game with a memorable soundtrack. Especially in Japan, this new soundtrack and visual came out of nowhere, since their version of Super Mario Bros 2 (which was eventually released in America under the name "Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels) had the exact same soundtrack (and similar visuals) as the first. Super Mario Bros 3 took the soundtrack of the original in the trilogy, and expanded upon it tenfold. There are more overall VGM tracks, smoother instruments, and more specific music tracks as a whole. All in all, it’s a heavy upgrade for the final game of the SMB trilogy.
== Addictiveness: 9/10 ==
The magnificent control over your character. The detailed and unique level design. The expansive list of power ups. There are so many reasons to give this game a perfect ten in addictiveness, but it’s hard to choose which is the most important!
The game’s control is easily one of the biggest draws to this game, as well as one of the biggest reasons that gamers old and new return to this game time and time again. This game is the poster boy of platform game physics done right. They are not the most “realistic,” but this is one genre that I prefer has some leniency in its physics. Leave the realistic stuff to first person shooters and Kerbal Space Program, please (because that’s obviously the ideal example of nothing but realism).
Allow me to elaborate on the physics to your control. Mario has a slight float to his jumps, and a great control over his inertia, both on the ground and in the air. While I, myself, tend to not like floaty physics in a game, I can’t deny that it helps the game, overall, especially since the platforming, at times, can actually be rather challenging and frustrating, if you didn’t get that extra second to re-adjust yourself while making a jump. It makes for leeway against miscalculated bounds, and gives its own little reward to those who may play more casually and take the game at a slower pace. At the same time, playing through this game quickly significantly lowers your leeway for jumps, even with the added floatiness, allowing the game to still be hard to go through at a relatively quick pace. This touch of floatiness adds to the ease of slow play, and also does little to hinder the difficulty of faster-paced play.
The level design was done very well, and was organized even better. The different themes of each world (Grass Land, Desert Land, Water Land, Giant Land, Sky Land, Ice Land, Pipe Land, and Dark Land) were apparent in the level design in very obvious ways, although their names took a dose of Mega Man syndrome (all robot masters were just named man). Grass Land, being the first world, has no defining properties aside from being the intro world, and is, consequently, a rather simple world. However, after Grass Land, each world has some defining property to it, which will be mentioned in detail when depth is explained.
The power up list got a much needed upgrade, after the first two Mario games (not counting the USA Super Mario Bros 2) only had the Super Mushroom, Fire Flower, Star Man, and infamous Poison Mushroom (a hint to its infamy: it doesn’t give you poison powers). These are the new power ups:
The Raccoon/Tanooki Suit (the Tanooki Suit is a slightly upgraded version of the Raccoon Suit with the ability to turn into an invulnerable statue) gives you the ability of flight, if you accelerate to full speed while running.
The Frog Suit, still exclusive to this game (the modern-day equivalent/upgrade would be the Penguin suit), gives you a significant boost while swimming, but is of practically negative use above water. However, beat an airship while wearing this suit, and you may get a special reward…
The Hammer Bro Suit, arguably the second most overpowering ability in Mario history below the cape from Super Mario World, allows you to throw arcing hammers that kill almost anything. The invulnerable Boos? More like, no match for hammers. However, the overpowering nature of the Hammer Bro Suit is actually well-deserved, unlike the cape from Super Mario World, as it is a very rare suit, only obtainable in a few select areas. So, if you find one, you’d best hang on to it.
The P-Wing, a level-breaking upgrade of the Raccoon Suit, can be considered one of the first “super-guide” power ups in gaming, and the first in the Mario series. While not invulnerable, it still grants unlimited flight in a single level, before reverting to a regular Raccoon Suit. It is most notably used by many players in a certain Desert Land level, where the sun itself chases after you. More experienced players may instead prefer to save it for Sky Land, or even a level in Dark Land near the end.
All of these power ups give a huge boost to gameplay addictiveness and depth, which is something I’ll be going over in short coming up.
Ultimately, the only weakness the game has (and the reason that I give this game a 9/10 in addictiveness) is mostly hardware-related. While future remakes fixed this glaring issue, this review is focusing on the original classic. I tend to not let hardware limitations affect my scoring of a game, but this is too much of a problem to pass up: no save feature.
Yes, I realize how limited the NES was in that field, and the fact that you have memory with numbers of different possibilities (referring to stages cleared in a world (including all mushroom houses and card games), extra item slot places (can be up to 10 different items per slot (including empty), which leads to an insane amount of combinations), and cards attained (mushroom, flower, star)) made even a password system sound like a very cumbersome addition. The likes of Metroid’s password system is far simpler than would be needed in the case of Super Mario Bros 3. Regardless of such, I have to acknowledge it as a huge problem in a rather expansive game on the NES.
== Depth: 9/10 ==
This game is one of the overall most expansive games on the NES, and that’s without a doubt. But the question about this game’s depth was how to make it enjoyable, fun depth, especially on a game lacking a save feature. And that came and shined in the way of varying level design that was heavily dependent on the world the level was in. Every level, aside from Grass Land, had something unique to the levels that existed in each one:
Desert Land has quicksand and fire snakes, and has almost no platforming perils; instead, the peril is more in the rather smart enemy placement.
Water Land is very infamous for being the near-obligatory water level in a platform game, and Big Bass, especially in Level 3-8.
Giant Land literally supersizes everything. There’s nothing overly challenging about this world as a whole, but the concept itself was funny and enjoyable.
Sky Land is notorious for some balls to the wall type difficulty spikes in platforming. What did you expect, landing room? You’re in the freaking sky; you’d better hope you’ve kept a raccoon transformation or two! Chances are, you’ll need it.
Ice Land is…well…ice. Need I explain any more than that? Slippery physics, troubling momentum control, and general frustration, especially for the first-time player. It’s clear that the difficulty goes up naturally, minus some levels in Sky Land.
Pipe Land is the only world in which dying by losing time is actually understandable; after all, the entire world is a collection of labyrinths! There’s obviously no shortage of pipes here, and even the overworld theme is slow, lax, and boring.
Dark Land almost completely forgoes platforming for the first half of this world, much like the airships at the end of each world. In fact, this world is the only one with non-airship vehicle autoscroll levels, and these were done very well. This world becomes less about platforming, and more about avoiding the onslaught of enemies presented to you. This will test your ability to quickly dispatch difficult enemies (including a number of hammer, fire, and boomerang bros) on your way to the goal, the same way Sky Land and Ice Land tested your ability to master precise jumping and momentum control.
These slight differences between each theme actually offer a bit in terms of depth, and keeping that depth fun and interesting. They keep the levels from becoming too repetitive, and, as such, are more than welcomed as a result, even if the differing themes can, at times, cause difficulty spikes within the game, specifically when transitioning from one world to the next, which is a minute problem with the world themes system that I will gladly take for the benefit it brings. Ultimately, this is the biggest benefit to depth that this game has. Depth isn't only about mindlessly lengthening the game, and it's clear that Nintendo knew this as well as anyone would.
== Difficulty: 6/10 ==
Despite the, at times, tedious platform segments of this game, all in all, there’s nothing too difficult to Super Mario Bros 3. However, after Super Mario Bros 2 (Japan), I’m sure that a decrease in difficulty was quite a welcome one. This started the trend away from Nintendo hard, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
Super Mario Bros 3 had a very good grasp on the concept of balance in difficulty. There was never a portion of the game that felt overwhelmingly difficult, and, besides Grass Land, the first world, there was never a time where I felt like the game was holding my hand. It was difficult at times, but not too difficult. It was easy at times, but not too easy.
The biggest downside in Super Mario Bros 3’s difficulty is something I had just finished mentioning: occasional difficulty spikes and drops.
Giant Land has a sudden drop in difficulty, with more spread-out enemy placement and the greater size of these enemies actually making them easier to deal with than their normal-sized counterparts. The platforming is also significantly easier than many other worlds, and it’s overall an undeserved drop in difficulty in the middle of the game.
However, Sky Land, the very next world, dynamically changes the difficulty and spikes it rather high during the latter half of the world (the first half of the world takes place in the ground). The platforming is notoriously some of the toughest in the entire game, and this is only in the middle of the game!
This sudden lack of balance in difficulty is a glaring problem in such a linear game. There’s no way to avoid these sections (not including secrets that allow you to skip worlds), so you HAVE to play through these uneven difficulty portions. It’s a big blow when the difficulty doesn’t rise gradually with your experience in the game.
==Final Result: 9.4/10 ==
This is an absolutely phenomenal game, but I don’t think I needed to tell you that. It’s a deserving recipient of the popularity it’s received throughout the years, and even today continues to receive. It is heralded by most as the best game on the NES, and I must wholeheartedly agree. This game is the poster boy of Nintendo’s dominance of the 8-bit market, not through gimmicks or brand new, unique changes, but through pure, solid games, colorful graphics, crisp sound, and deep, fun gameplay.
This game, at its core, is no different from its predecessors in Japan (Super Mario Bros 2 in the US is a different story, though). However, it didn’t have to be. Nintendo knew this much, even back then. They just knew it had to be fun. They knew it would sell, and it did.
This is a game you absolutely shouldn’t miss out on if you’re any fan of Mario or platform games. It set many precedents for Mario games, and platform games as a whole, moving forward, and is still one of the standards that platform games are compared against. If that doesn't say much to you, then I don't know what will.

Super Mario Bros. 3 on NES   IgorBird122
This Game here, Super Mario Bro. 3, the 3rd installment of the Super Mario Bros (despite the SMB 2 confusion between U.S. and Japan). This game right here happens to be the 2nd best game for the NES (only behind Super Mario Bros.) and how did it get so successful, well, read what I have typed below.
The Graphics
The Graphics in the game is the best part about the game, even for the NES, the game's graphics are just amazing. and everything in thi game is all detailed even for a 8-bit system. plus with a lot of more interesting features in the game (which I'll explain in the depth later on in the review). It has a lot of interesting things added onto this game that we haven't seen in previous Mario games like a little bit of more shading with the scenery which has some shadows behind it which was great.
I give this a perfect 10 out of 10.
------

The Sound/Music:

For the Music in this game, they really sound very nice for the NES, like every single song in the game all ha that special theme for each level which makes this game one of a kind and the music in this game is in everyone's mind when they play this game a lot of times.
For the sound effects, We got some of the sound effects we gotten from the 1st Super Mario Bros. game, plus some newer sound effects added in as well to make the sound effects great as well.

I give this a perfect 10 out of 10

------

The Addictiveness:

SMB 3 can be pretty addicting, no matter of you're playing it on here or playing it on the NES system, no matter what you play it on, you'll be playing this game so many times, you'll loose count. The cause of this is with the newer things that are added in and and a bunch of other things that makes this game so much addicting and fun to play.

I give this a 9 out of 10

------

The Story:

The story of this game is about the same as the 1st Super Mario Bros. game, but the only difference is that Mario hasn't realized Peach has been kidnapped until the end of the 7th world, while Mario was distracted trying to turn the world kings back to normal after the Koopalings have turned them into various creatures, Bowser kidnapped her again and you go into his land and get Peach back.

I give this an 8 out of 10.

------

The Depth:

Their is 8 worlds to travel in and each world is unique in a way that you got a ton of challenges ahead of you, but luckily you got a bunch of new and interesting things like the new leaf that will turn Mario into a raccoon, and Mario in a frog suit which makes Mario swim though water levels with ease, which both are a nice new feature to see, and on the level select, you got a lot of tools that can help you on your way (taking a quote from Toad in the game).

I give this a perfect 10 out of 10

------

The Difficulty:

The difficulty is pretty alright, they're some parts in the game that are very easy to do and other parts of the game that does take for like ever to accomplish, mostly the later on in the game, the more harder the game becomes which is typical for a Mario game, but if you're used to the Mario games, the game is very easy, but some are still hard, even for an experienced Mario gamer which makes it very good, the game is challenging, but not too hard.

I give this a 7 out of 10

------

Overall

Overall, this game is one of the best games out there not just for the NES, but for any Nintendo system and it a highly recommented game to play if you haven't played SMB 3 yet. For my opinion, this is my most favorite Mario game ever, and I'm not the only one that thinks the same thing as well

Overall, I give this game a 9.7 out of 10

It's a Mario time!Let's ah go!(Super Mario Bro's 3 review)   Neo Arcadia
Super Mario bros 3 is a Mario classic, simple basic stage designs "levels" ,simple graphics, over Super Mario Bors 3 is a memorable classic Mario game. The story goes a little something like this, Bowser's children"Koopa's" are going all around the Mushroom Kingdom and stealing royal magic wands and turning Mushroom Kingdom royalty in to creatures and it has gotten so bad Toad has been forced to ask Princess Peach to call upon Mario and Luigi for help.Mario and Luigi must set out on another epic quest (either playing as either Mario or you can alternate between Him and Luigi) and chase down a flying ship were the thieving Koopa's have taken the wands and are bent on destroying all of the Mushroom Kingdom.Throughout the game and even on the title screen you will notice something is odd about this Mario game, it's design is very similar to a theaters stage almost as if the game is a stage and Mario and Luigi along with the enemies or "Koopas" are the cast preforming.
Graphics- the graphics facial wise on Mario and Luigi are of decent quality especially since this is a Nintendo N.E.S. game. Mario' & Luigi's facial graphics are pretty basic in design and doesn't really go into much detail. The stages aren't to diverse for each of the worlds you are on, they are of decent quality pixel resolution wise, there is a thin black out line around most of the objects you see and Mario & Luigi themselves. The character movements are basic and some what sluggish. So overall the graphics are halfway decent nothing really special and it is a Nintendo NES game so expectations for graphics were set a tad lower from usual standers to begin with.As I've brought up earlier in the review(the opening) I believe the creators of the game wanted to design the levels or stages almost as if Mario or Luigi were acting out a play as your progress through the game, it makes sense considering the thick black out lines on objects and the fact that the background scenery looks almost as if it's being held up by strings and the backgrounds have this flat 2-D look one would normally see in "play" backgrounds.
Sound-the sound heard in ?Super Mario Bro's 3 is what you would expect from any other Mario game. The soundtrack changes every now and again between stages/levels, the voice actors of ?Mario and Luigi's and Koopa's can be heard in decent quality , with no abnormalities. The sound tracks are basic clean cut quality, nothing special that makes a particular beat ?stand out.
Addictiveness-,well I was very in tuned with the game, it held my attention as well as interest because of its diversity from other Mario games from the franchise. The game has a whole new style map as well as new power items which only added on to the overall appeal of the game. This game had me up well over midnight playing and enjoy all of its stages. But the game does get tired some rather quickly because your basically playing over the same level layout just with minor changes minion/enemy wise.
Story-The story for Super Mario Bro's 3 is quite interesting because its not what you would expect from a typical Mario game.Instead of the usual story of Mario, Bowser has kidnapped Princess Peach this time the Mushrooms Kingdoms royalty is being targeted by Bowsers children the Koopa's.Bowser's children(Koopa's) are going all around the Mushroom Kingdom and stealing royal magic wands and turning Mushroom Kingdom royalty in to creatures and it has gotten so bad Toad has been forced to ask Princess Peach to call upon Mario and Luigi for help.Mario and Luigi must set out on another epic quest (either playing as either Mario or you can alternate between Him and Luigi) and chase down a flying ship were the thieving Koopa's have taken the wands and are hell bent on destroying all of the Mushroom Kingdom and it;s up to Mario or Luigi to stop them! So overall new story unlike most of the previous games in the Mario franchise (for once your not saving princess peach ), new enemies and stage design's although there are pretty basic in the style from which they are made.
Depth- well Super Mario Bro's 3 is a very long and open world game with plentiful levels/stages to conquer, especial if your one of those gamers who enjoy beating every aspect of a game.It has various paths to reach the ship on each world/stage, in addition to that There are many mushroom houses you will find and gain access to throughout your journey which inside you do matching or open chests and you power up items, which will have you playing the game for hour without end especial(once again) if your one of those gamers who love to beat every aspect of a game so enjoy!
Difficulty- Well (sigh) the difficulty for Super Mario Bro's 3 is very low, I would say moderate because you can hold up to 3 items in storage for later use, and the Koopa's and stage/level difficulty doesn't really increase as the game gets closer and closer to the end. Beating the Koopa's is basically a cake walk in this and like most Mario games the difficulty is relaxed and really not all that difficult boss battles or even sub boss battles. The level's are fairly easy to clear and doesn't take much skill to beat them. But I suppose depending on which character you use the difficult is different. Like for example I had a tough time beating so level's using Luigi because he naturally jump's higher than Mario making him some what harder to control.
Overall- Super Mario Bro's 3 is a basic style Mario game that doesn't focus so much on graphics quality and focuses more on addictiveness and story. I think any Mario fan would enjoy this game because it really isn't the same as any other game in the Mario franchise(personally I felt in Super Mario Bro's 3 like Mario and the rest of the cast were acting out a play, rather than in the typically Mario game where you feel as though you are part of the story instead of watching a performance) but it's a nice change from the typical plot of your running around trying to save princess Peach, but in stead in this unique Mario game you are going out and exploring the various lands of the Mushroom Kingdom saving Mushroom Kingdom royalty. Bottom line, I truly loved playing this game because the simple graphics quality really made me focus and appreciate the story of the game and it provided day's of entertainment.I'd also recommend playing Super Mario Bors 3 with a partner on netplay, it can be done and I feel individuals would get more enjoyment out of the game if they play with a buddy/friend.

What all video games should strive for   patar4097
Super Mario Bros. 3 was in the U.S., a true sequel to the classic Super Mario Bros. Released for the NES five years after the original. It took everything that made the original great, and improved pretty much everything.
It added an over world with alternate paths, so you could possibly pass a level you had trouble with, it greatly improved the graphics, and added tons of new powerups. Not only that, but the controls were more fluent with jumping, and the screen no longer prevents you from moving left. This made the player feel like you could explore the level, instead of simply moving right.
To add to the adventure part of the game, each world has levels that correspond to the over world. The ice world will involve stages that are mostly frozen in ice. There is a pipe world that is inhabited by tons of Piranha Plants. But best of all, there are the giant levels, which have mega sized Goombas and Koopa Troopas. It really does feel like you are in that world.
Another way this game feels more like an adventure is that with one of the new suits, the Raccoon suit, you can now fly around the world. You can find hidden areas, coins, or even extra lives up in the sky by using this item. You can also attack with your tail to kill enemies, or destroy blocks.
Some other suits are the hammer suit, where you can throw hammers like a Hammer Bro., and a frog suit, where you can swim much easier. It is pretty useless, but it is fun to use, because Mario hops on land while you walk. And last is the Tanooki suit. It is the same as the raccoon suit, however, now you can turn into a statue for a few seconds. This keeps enemies from hurting you, and can help if you have no way to avoid an attack. I never found this useful though, because the statue lasts for only a very short time, and I usually would get hit by the thing I am trying to avoid.
Gameplay: 9.5The platforming in this game is near perfect. There are very few cheap deaths, and there are also some good secrets to find. Controls work perfectly, and as I mentioned before, you now have much more control with your jump. The terrific level design can have you come back for more, and it never feels dull. The only problem I had with the levels was the fortresses. Some of them were a bit confusing, and eventually, I just walked through every door I saw. This is only a minor complaint, because these confusing parts are usually only a little part of the stage.
Something else that is great about the over world is that there are levels that can be activated by running into certain enemies, such as Hammer Bros. These fights were really fun, and if you beat them, you would be rewarded with an item that you can equip at the over world before starting a level. This gives you the chance to start with an invincible or even fight Bowser with a Frog Suit. You can also find these at Mushroom houses, which are scattered around the worlds.
There is also an expansive variety when it comes to the type of levels. There are the standard “go right” levels of course, but are some where the screen will be moving whether you are going or not, and getting caught behind will kill you. There are also some airship levels, which move the screen, but along with that, the Bullet Bills will move more like they are moving straight, and don’t follow the level, like they are separate from the ship.
There are also mini-boss battles, where you fight Hammer Bros. for items. Also, you can do levels that scroll up, but you can move through the sides of the screen, reminiscent to the classic Mario Bros. game. These aren’t used often, but are really fun to play.
Graphics: 8. 5The game looks great. From the much updated Koopas and Goombas, to the much more human looking Mario, the game looks great. The over world looks like what it is supposed to be, like a desert or sky city. One beef I have about the graphics is that backgrounds are a little bland sometimes. For instance, when flying up in most levels, you do not feel like you are progressing up. The only difference is sometimes you fly up to where there are floating fire flowers in the sky. This seems like a weird thing to include, and just seems awkward to me.
Sometimes though, the backgrounds can be great. On the air ships, lightning will strike once in a while. This makes you feel like you are in a serious situation, and really pulls you in, and makes you focus on the game. It is a really cool animation that actually makes me like those levels even more.

Sound: 9.5There is so much great music in this game! The over worlds all get great music, and the boss battles sound great as well. All the level themes sound nice, and go well with the levels. It also has much more to offer when it comes to the soundtrack than the original Super Mario Bros.
Something else that is very helpful with the sound is the full speed sound. Once you reach full speed, a meter at the bottom will fill, and a beeping sound will start to play. Although this can get annoying, it is also very helpful, because to fly with the Raccoon suit, you need full speed, and this alert is extremely helpful, especially toward the beginning of the game when you are getting used to it.
Difficulty: 8.5 This game is really hard, especially toward the end. It starts off at a good pace, and slowly ups the difficulty. Suddenly, by the 6th world, you notice that the last part of the game will be no easy task. The first time I played through this, I actually lost 30 lives on one of the fortress levels in the 8th world. But it’s never something that seems cheap. It’s usually because you messed up, and you know it as well. Fortunately, this game has an in game save, so you don’t have to start all over if you get a game over, which saves a lot of frustration.
Addictiveness: 9.5 / Depth: 10 Following up with what I just said, the saving also comes in handy, because the game is enormous! There are about 90 levels, and they all have a unique feel to it. You never feel like you are stuck looping the same levels over and over. For instance, the ice world is the largest, but the huge variety of levels keeps it fresh. This game’s replay ability still holds strong even today.
You will also be glued to your seat while playing. This game is something that is usually pretty important in video games. It is fun. And it never stops that trend, all the way to the end. You will have the same feeling of adventure and excitement through the whole experience. I’ve beaten this game about 3 times, and each time was just as much fun as the last.
Story: 8This time, Bowser sends out his Koopalings to steal the magic wands of the kings of all seven kingdoms, and turn the kings of those areas into animals. So Peach sends Mario and Luigi off to get the wands back from the evil Koopa Kids. To do this, you must defeat each Koopaling, with one taking over each of the first 7 worlds. Once you get the final king’s wand back. He presents you with a letter. It is from Bowser, saying that he has stolen Peach again! So now you must go to Dark World, to free Princess Peach, and save the land.
So why did Bowser tell Mario in the first place? Who knows? But it’s cool that this time you feel like you are doing it for the good of the Kingdom instead of doing it all for the Princess. It makes you feel more like you are the hero of the entire land, where as finding out that the Princess Peach is actually a Toad at the end of the level instead. And despite the small flaw in Bowser's plan, this is actually a good story.
Overall: 9.6 This game is a masterpiece. Everything about this game is great. The improved gameplay and depth over the original really stands out, as well as the presence of a real story. It has the colorful graphics, and great, but non-repetitive worlds, the phenomenal music, and overall, probably the best game the NES has to offer.
Thanks for reading my review! Please rate, and if you want, comment on it. Criticism is accepted. Thanks, and God bless!

Hello good people of Vizzed! It's Black Bot here with a Super Mario Bros 3 (SMB3 for short) review!
Super Mario Bros. 3 (SMB3 for short), Is one of the greatest games ever. Travel through challenging levels and challenges on your way to save the princess!
Let's hop right in to the action.
Graphics : 10 / 10 - Perfect score
Okay. The graphics was just amazingly beautiful for a game released in 1985 on a quite old, and a popular system back then.?
Bricks: The bricks were a brownish colour, and Mario hits it with his head or turtle shell, A coin or item shall come out. The items came out perfectly, and looked the way they needed to be. Coins looked like a regular coin, yellow and kind of big for it to come out of a brick, lol.
Items:?
?Mushroom : Okay. This is a cool item. This makes Mario / Luigi go bigger. The mushroom does look like a real mushroom kind of. It is Red and white and when Mario / Luigi eats it, they get bigger quickly. I personally like the graphics of the mushroom. It looks cool even though it is a small part. 9 / 10 for a rating for the mushroom.
? Star : This looks like a yellow star. Ones Mario / Luigi touches it, they become invincible and they look rainbow. This is just beautiful in my opinion. The best graphic is this game in my opinion. And the star has eyes which makes it COOLER personally! :D Rating for star: 10 / 10 - Perfect score.
? Fire flower : When Mario / Luigi / other character touches / eats it, they have fire power. Mario has White and Red overalls when eaten / touched Fire Flower. Luigi has White and Red overalls when eaten. This also makes Mario / Luigi shoot Red / orangeish fireballs out of them. The fireballs looked good while they knock out enemies.. The fire balls looks good overall. Now back to the Fire Flower. The Fire Flower pretty much looks like a pretty flower that has eyes and such. This little pixel awesomeness deserves a 9 / 10 for now.
Characters:
?Mario : ?Mario is the main character of this game. He has Blue overalls and a Red shirt underneath it. He also has a mustache and brown shoes. (I think.) But in this game, you can't really see the mustache because of the 1980's quality back then. He also has a red cap / hat. 10 / 10
?Luigi : Mario's partner. Has Blue overalls and a Green shirt underneath the overalls. He also has a mustache and green hat / cap. 10 / 10
?Toad : The cute mushroom head that lives in the castle. Has a mushroom head that looks like a mushroom. He has a white diaper and a blue shirt. Cute character in my opinion. 10 / 10
Princess Peach : The princess of the castle. She has a pink skirt, Blond hair, and that is pretty much it. 9 / 10 (can add a little more.)
enemies : Goomba, Koopa Troopa, Bowser, etc.
The Goombas are Brown, small, cute little enemies. The Koopa Troopa have red / green shells and a yellow body. Bowser, the king of koopas has a Spiky Dark Green shell, a yellow body, and he is huge!
Levels: The levels looked nice with different types of colourful bricks and enemies.
Okay, I am finally done with that. :p
Sound: 9 / 10 (90%) Can be improved.
The songs for different things and places were kind of decent, actually. I like how they used totally different music for totally different levels. They also sometimes use the same music for different levels which most of everyone can tell.
Overall, I like the levels' music. But it wasn't good as I expected because there was only like 10 music things for the levels. That is the part I did not like. I wish they added different tracks and music to the game. :/
I like the places like the item house and the music for it. I also like the card game music which I think is the same.
They have the same music for all of the worlds (I think, still.).?
I believe this game has 6 - bit sound.. But this game also has very godly.. and great 8 - bit sound. This sound was much better than all of the Nintendo Entertainment System games, actually. I love the sound overall! I do not blame the sound because it was made in 1985. Anything that had the exact sound in 2013 would be rated a 5 or something. :p
Addictiveness : 8 / 10
This game has 8 worlds, filled with levels. When I beat this game, I do not really play much of this game much anymore. It gets kind of old sometimes. But the good thing is when you get a bunch of flying things if you complete the game!?
But when you lose badly, like me, You sometimes quit.. But sometimes you keep trying harder and harder.
I have nothing else to say here sadly. :/
Story : 10 / 10 - Perfect score
Once upon a time, Princess Peach was baking a cake for Mario. Then suddenly, Bowser, the Koopa king, kidnapped the princess!! Now Mario and Luigi has to save the Princess and rescue her!! Mario has to make his way up to the top. Enemies try stopping him from succeeding the mission. Will Mario rescue the princess or not? Find out in the brand new Super Mario Bros. 3 for the Nintendo Entertainment System!
Depth : 7 / 10 - Can be very improved. Especially with levels and worlds.
7 / 10. Quite not much depth in my very honest opinion.
I think there should be 10 worlds instead of just eight. And I also want more levels on each world. And the final castle should be a lot more longer and challenging... I also think there should be more regular levels so TAS would take over an hour to finish the game. And for a human's speed run? I'd say about 5 hours for complete with a good time, I don't know.
For me, I would suggest 15 worlds for hard - core players.
That will be great and it would be a perfect score of 10 / 10 if they could fix what I said exactly above me.
Difficulty : 8 / 10 :?
Okay, this is the most important and last section of the review for some people.
This game challenges me a lot so far. But when I completed it, and tried over and over again, It was easier and easier until I attempted a speed run.
When you complete it like I said above, it is easy. But what if you want to challenge yourself? D: I wish that they add more worlds and levels and change it completely to make it much better and complicated and challenging. That will sure lead the Difficulty to a 10 / 10, and the WHOLE game to a 10 / 10. But it is the old Super Mario 3! What should I rating this 8? I know that this is a hard, challenging game for most of you.
OVERALL : 9 . 5 / 10 . 0 (Can be improved by a LOT) - This game is awesome. But some things need to be improved. The graphics were just absolutely perfect, but the sound / audio needs to be improved! D: They could also add more levels and worlds and longer levels! They need much harder and tougher difficulty as well.
The biggest problem is still the Depth. :p It was probably the main reason the game got a 9 . 5 / 10 . 0 instead of a 10 / 10. It should be longer, but with difficulty combined. I know I keep mentioning that same thing over and over again, and that is how it is. :p
Well, This is the end of Black Bot's Super Mario Bros. 3 review for the Nintendo Entertainment System!
I have also made a video series of long play and be sure to check that out as well!
____
I would like to hear some positive and negative feedback. I haven't reviewed in a long time.
If you did not like this review, Tell me why you did not like it and what needs to be improved. Thank you!?
Please rate it on the game's page.
Thank you for reading Black Bot's review, and see you next time!

Super Mario Bros 3 Review   Fishsniper3
This game has bee called a favorite by many and I can see why. Nothing is better than just picking up a controller and playing Mario games. However this game makes you pick up a controller and never take your eyes off the TV! Everything is just so bright and colorful and definitely pushes the NES to its limit.
GRAPHICS: 8
The graphics in this game are extremely good for NES standards let alone a Mario game. Most of the background is just clouds, hills, and one color. Mario looks just like he did in the original Super Mario Bros, but a little bit lighter.
The weird thing is that when Mario is in a stage his clothes are black and red, but in the intro for a match up game his clothes are now blue and red. I just thought that was something to point out.
SOUND: 10
Each theme in the game is unique and can really fits in with each level. The ones it fits in the most with would probably be the water levels and the castle levels. Each map has it's own theme Like the desert world has a desert theme, the water world has a beach theme, but the one I don't get is world 6 which is the frozen world and it has a really creepy theme the doesn't really fit. At first I thought it was because everything was frozen and empty, but then it was reused in Paper Mario 2 as the creepy message theme which was confusing.
ADDICTIVENESS: 10
Like I said earlier, your probably never going to want to put the controller down once you start playing this. There's so many levels and mini games to try out. If you're playing with a friend then you'll have even more fun! Enough said.
STORY: 6
The story is the same. Bowser nabbed the princess and brought her to his castle or lair or whatever and of course you, the fat Itallian plumber, have to save her, whoopdy freaking do! Although this time, Bowser sent out his kids (How did Bowser get kids?) to stop you and for some reason they like turning kings into animals.
DEPTH: 9
There is a lot and I mean A LOT to do in this game. Over 50 stages, hammer bros. and boomerang bros. you'll come across, and mini games that almost never stop coming. Nintendo got a little lazy with the bosses though. Most of the time you'll come across castles and at the end there is ALWAYS something called a Boom Boom, but they're easy to kill which isn't a problem. The koopa kids or koopalings as they're called are all the same, they die in 3 hits and drop a wand when you defeat them. The Bowser fight is a lot more creative since you have to make Bowser  smash blocks with his butt so that he'll fall out out the ship and come back in Super Mario World.
DIFFICULTY: 9
This game is not easy at all. Even the most hardcore gamer has to die at least once while playing this. The reason? THE PITFALLS! There are WAY too many pitfalls in this game and they're really irritating when trying to preform a long jump. The enemies are a a real pain but the boos (ghosts) annoy me the most  since they'll always gang up on you when you're not looking and kill you. There are sometimes white bars that will have ghosts on them and you always have to jump over them. There is one water level where there's a bunch of whit bars cheep cheeps (fish) and bloopers (squids) which you have to dodge with perfect timing.
OVERALL: 9.9
This is probably what makes the Mario games so well known to people. If you have an NES, buy this now. If you don't, go buy one with this.

My Review of Super Mario Bros 3 NES   Madeline
Super Mario Bros 3 Review:
Another superb Mario adventure, SMB3 is an expanse of an entertaining and amusing adventure in order for Mario to triumph in his quest to retrieve the King's wand and of course saving the princess! The variety of levels will keep you on the edge as you go through the worlds. New features like the raccoon suit and the frog suit make the game even more enjoyable, although I am a bit of a Mario fan myself, so go out and try it yourself!
Graphics and Sound: 8.5/10
Having thoroughly enjoyed working through other Mario games, including SMB1, I found SMB3 to be easier on the eyes and a wonderful experience to play hours on end, all because of improved graphics. I must say that this game has thoroughly spoiled me with the nice layout and clarity that is not seen in much older Mario games.
Watching the characters, you will definitely notice a greater frame per second and my own inquisition into the intricacies of the game has brought in me great respect for the enhanced animation and overall just thrills me as it has that certain je ne sais quoi that make all these types of games addictive.
---
Moving onto sound, one cannot feel but helpless to express how much the sounds just cause the player to be engrossed in the game even more so. All the music just gives the player the great feeling of playing a mario game and is always exciting, even those times where you can't beat a level or want to closely examine everything.
The effects are mostly from previous games, but a few are new and overall the sound quality in this game is very fine indeed!
Difficuly and Control: 5/10
There are a few places in which you can get stuck, don't give up! Overall, the game is fairly simple and should not be a problem. The jumping capabilities seem a little bit greater, which might be a burden for some, but after only a short while, it is easy to get accustomed to the controls.
Enemies and levels may be a bit challenging, but with a little effort, they can be overcome. I'm sure that even someone who has only played a few Mario games would be able to beat it with time and effort!
Depth: 4/10
With a few exceptions, it can be easily seen that there is not too much depth within this game. It is fairly shallow waters in terms of getting extra bonus rooms that one would in just completing the game.
Storyline: 8/10
A continuation of SMB1, SMB3 is the story of how seven evil children called "Koopalings" steal a wand of a King and used it to transform him. Mario has to triumph by getting the wand and restoring the rightful owner. SMB3 brings in many new enemies to defeat and overall the storyline is quite interesting when playing the game.
Addictiveness: 9.5/10
Maybe I am a bit of a Mario-Addict even before playing this game, but I find nearly all Mario games to be 9+ out of 10 as they all seem to suck you in, and before you know it, hours have flown by! This one in particular had me playing for hours on end when I first played it, and playing it again after nearly a year was still very fun and addicting!
Don't only take my word for it! Go and try it yourself!

" A Mario classic, simple basic stage designs (levels) ,simple graphics all in all a memorable classic Mario game ". In Super Mario Bro's 3  Bowser's children(Koopa's) are going all around the Mushroom Kingdom and stealing royal magic wands and turning Mushroom Kingdom royalty in to creatures and it has gotten so bad  Toad has been forced to ask Princess Peach to call upon Mario and Luigi for help.Mario and Luigi must set out on another epic quest (either playing as either Mario or you can alternate between Him and Luigi) and chase down a flying ship were the thieving Koopa's have taken the wands and are bent on destroying all of the Mushroom Kingdom.
" So how is the graphics quality in Super Mario Bro's 3? " ,In Super Mario bro's 3, the graphics(facial wise)on Mario and Luigi are of decent quality especially since this is a Nintendo N.E.S. game. Mario' & Luigi's facial graphics are pretty basic in design and doesn't really go into much detail. The stages aren't to diverse for each of the respected worlds you are on, they are of decent quality pixel resolution wise, there is a thin black out line around most of the objects you see and Mario & Luigi themselves. The character movements are basic and some what sluggish. So overall the graphics are halfway decent nothing really special and it is a Nintendo NES game so expectations for graphics were set a tad lower from the gecko.
" What can be expected out of the sound quality and how is the sound trackfor Super Mario Bro's 3? ", well the sound for Super Mario Bro's 3 is what you would expect from any other Mario game. The soundtrack changes every now and again between stages/levels, but the acoustics and pitch are fine with Mario and Luigi's voices and Koopa cries as well as the soundtracks , with no abnormalities. The sound tracks are basic clean cut quality, nothing special that makes a particular beat  stand out.
"  How addicted were you to playing Super Mario Bro's 3? ", well I was very in tuned with the game, it held my attention as well as interest because of its diversity from other Mario games from the franchise. The game has a whole new style map as well as  new power items which only added on to the overall appeal of the game. This game had me up well over midnight playing and enjoy all of its stages. But the game does get tired some rather quickly because your basically playing over the same level layout just with minor changes minion/enemy wise.
" What's the story/plot of Super Mario Bro's 3? ", The story for Super Mario Bro's 3 is quite interesting because its not what you would expect from a typical Mario game.Instead of the usual story of Mario, Bowser has kidnapped Princess Peach this time the Mushrooms Kingdoms royalty is being targeted by Bowsers children the Koopa's.Bowser's children(Koopa's) are going all around the Mushroom Kingdom and stealing royal magic wands and turning Mushroom Kingdom royalty in to creatures and it has gotten so bad  Toad has been forced to ask Princess Peach to call upon Mario and Luigi for help.Mario and Luigi must set out on another epic quest (either playing as either Mario or you can alternate between Him and Luigi) and chase down a flying ship were the thieving Koopa's have taken the wands and are hell bent on destroying all of the Mushroom Kingdom and it;s up to Mario or Luigi to stop them! So overall new story unlike most of the previous games in the Mario franchise (for once your not saving princess peach ), new enemies and stage design's although there are pretty basic  in the style from which they are made.
" What's the depth of Super Mario Bro's 3, just how big is the game? ", well Super Mario Bro's 3 is a very long and open world game with plentiful levels/stages to conquer, especial if your one of those gamers who enjoy beating every aspect of a game.It has various paths to reach the ship on each world/stage, in addition to that  There are many mushroom houses you will find and gain access to throughout your journey which inside you do matching or open chests and you power up items, which will have you playing the game for hour without end especial(once again) if your one of those gamers who love to beat every aspect of a game so enjoy!
" What's the difficulty like in Super Mario Bros 3, is it extremely hard or a moderate challenge?",Well (sigh) the difficulty for Super Mario Bro's 3 is very low, I would say moderate because you can hold up to 3 items in storage for later use, and the Koopa's and stage/level difficulty doesn't really increase as the game gets closer and closer to the end.
Overall Super Mario Bro's 3 is a basic style Mario game that doesn't focus so much on graphics quality and focuses more on addictiveness and story. I think any Mario fan would enjoy this game because it really isn't the same as any other game in the Mario franchise where your running around trying to save princess Peach, instead you are going out and exploring the various lands of the Mushroom Kingdom saving Mushroom Kingdom royalty. Bottom line, I truly loved playing this game because the simple graphics quality really made me focus and appreciate the story of the game  and it provided day's of entertainment.

Time to review a classic   ender44
Its time to review a true classic, super Mario bros 3. Ahh, this game, easily the best Mario game on the NES. Easily one of the best Mario games ever. This game is what got me into the series in the first place, and what a great way to start. This game found a way to use Mario's simple formula and make a game with much more depth than the first two games. The first two games (I mean the first Mario game, and the Japan version of the second) seemed lacking to me, though super Mario bros 3 filled the gap. Not much to say about this game, so on with that review thing.
Graphics: The graphics blew me away. It has some of the best graphics on the NES and is almost up to speed with the GBA. Mario animates very well, although he looks quite a bit different from all of the other marios, past and present. Aside from that, the backgrounds can get a little bland, though the are definitely passable. The map construction look is definitely better than the par for this game, the deserts certainly look like deserts, and this is just me, but I like the sort of glare effect they put in the desert, it made it feel as if the sun was actually beating down on you. The forest lands look kind of whimsical to me, and I really like that. The enemies animate very well and look more polished than their super Mario bros 1+2 counterparts.
Sound: I thoroughly enjoy the sound of this game. It's nice to be able to run up a hill, jump on some goombas, and dodge some koopa shells to music that isn't just the main theme of Mario or the underground theme. Overall, the music sets the theme of the game very well and I think you will enjoy it very much.
Addictiveness: What can I say? You will want to play this game to the very end of it. I certainly did, and have.  The game has a way of making you want to go the next level that I really cant describe, play the game, you will see.
Story: here is the unfortunate part to every platforming Mario game. Bowser is at it again, he brought his kids, and you have to MURDER HIM IN COLD BLOOD! Well, not exactly, but it tends to follow that formula. Super Mario bros 3 is no different. It does put a twist on the story, but not much more than that. The formula of course works, but I would have wanted to see something more from such a fantastic game.
Depth: Goombas, koopas, paratroopas, bowser and his kids, that's about it for the fist two Mario games. Super Mario bros 3 added a little more flavor. It added quite a few more enemies that added to each of the worlds. There are of course 8 worlds in this game, for bowser and all of his kids. There is also a new suit, called the toonuki suit, that allows you to fly and attack with your tail. There are also plenty of secret passages that you can find, most of which make use of the toonuki suit.
Difficulty: I really don't see much difficulty in Mario games, and this one is no different. It wont throw any huge challenge your way, although that wont take away from the fun. I think Mario games could really benefit from a difficulty setting.
Overall, I really wish you would play it. This is one of the best Mario games and one of the best NES games, I am sure you will enjoy it.

NES Gold!   Itachi9695
Greetings ladies and gentlemen to the finale of Mario Month. I know I said I would end with Super Mario World, but I figure I can just save that for later. I also want to give that game the focus I feel that it deserves and I don't feel like I can do that in the time I have left. So Super Mario World will be the start of Mario Month 2, which will probably be in a few months. Anyway, back on track. Super Mario Bros. 3 certainly had quite the build up. All the commercials, the infamous movie, The Wizard (which, by the way I've never seen, but from what I've heard I don't want to), and probably a heck of a lot more. This game certainly looked to be Mario's, and quite possibly Nintendo's, most ambitious game. We in America got the game in 1990, Japan got it 2 years earlier, and I am happy to say that it didn't disappoint. This game is often considered the greatest NES game of all time. Some even call it the best Mario game of all time. While I have to admit that I disagree with the latter, it is certainly the best NES game I've ever played. Why is this game so praised?  What do people find so awesome about this game? Let's dig a little deeper and find out.
Graphics
This is probably the best-looking NES title ever. The graphics are simply amazing for the NES. The animations are far smoother than the other two games, and the sprites seem more detailed than ever. Everything is easier to see, especially given the fact that the HUD is actually on the bottom of the screen, giving more room for the actual level. The levels and backgrounds are all done very nicely. The game certainly gives off a theater type feel with its art design. Certain platforms are bolted in, some are hanging from a ceiling, and they even make shadows on the backdrop. This has lead many to believe that the entire game was built around it being a play, but that's another topic.
Sound
Every track in the game is just epicness and this game certainly contains some of the best music on the NES. The over world themes, the level themes, and especially the airship theme. The airship theme has become probably one of the most recognized pieces of music in Mario history. It's had it fair share of reuses and remixes, each just as epic as the original. It's probably my favorite track in the game. The soundtrack is also far more varied than the original Super Mario Bros., containing far more tracks and variations. I can easily say that the Super Mario Bros. 3 soundtrack is the absolute best on the system.
Addictiveness
With tons of levels and power ups, there's certainly a lot that's going to drive you to come back to this game. While I personally don't come back to it too often, it's not because the game sucks, it's just that I have other things to focus on. I don't have as much time to focus on this game as I would like. Either way, it's definitely a fun game that I'm sure Mario fans will be sure to come back to.
Story
Ah, the good old plot line, here you are again. Oh how I missed the Bowser kidnaps Peach story...wait, that doesn't happen until later in the game? What is the world coming to? In all seriousness though, the story goes as such; An evil spell has been cast on the kings of various lands in the Mushroom Kingdom, or are they all separate kingdoms? I don't even know at this point. This spell has transformed these kings into various creatures. Mario needs to collect the magic scepters from each world in order to transform the kings back into their normal selves. The scepters are in the possession of Bowser's Koopalings, who you fight at the end of each world on their airship. A good enough plot and it's certainly a little better than Peach getting kidnapped right off the bat.
Depth
There are 8 Worlds total, wit each containing a varied amount of levels. Each World is set in a different setting. You can travel through almost any environment. From Grassland to Desert, from the sky to a fiery pit, and so on. Each level usually has it's own little gimmick as well, making the gameplay very enjoyable. There is also a plethora of power-ups. In addition to the Mushroom and Fire Flower from previous games, you have the Frog Suit, which allows you to swim more easily, the super leaf, which gives Mario a raccoon tail, allowing him to fly, and even more. I think the main selling point for this game is the sheer amount of stuff it has for you to do. It's probably the NES game that has the most depth.
Gameplay/Controls
I'm pretty sure you all know how to play a 2D Mario game at this point, so I'm just going to tell you about how Mario handles. For the most part, Mario handles quite nicely, although at times I feel its a little bit too slippery. Now, it's nowhere near as slippery as Luigi's Lost Levels controls, but it is a little bit difficult landing on smaller platforms at times. It's not a major issue, but I though it was at least worth mentioning. As a whole, the game does control quite nicely though, and I'm willing to look past that small nitpick to see the greatness this game truly is.
Overall, Super Mario Bros. 3 is the hands-down, absolute best NES game of all time. With the best soundtrack in the NES library and possibly the most power-ups in any Mario game ever developed, I give Super Mario Bros. 3 a 9 out of 10. Well, with Mario Month out of the way, I think it's time to celebrate the most recently announced Sonic game, Sonic Lost World, by doing Sonic Month 2! (Not to be confused with Sonic 2 Month, which is from here on known as simply Sonic Month) I'm skipping straight to the modern era, and it shall begin with my review of...Sonic...'06. Now, if you'll excuse me I'm going to prepare for mess of a game, but until then, PEACE OUT!

One of the Best Mario Games Ever?   luigi25

Over in Japan in 1988, Nintendo was working on two new Mario games for the NES. Those were Super Mario Bros. 2 which would be released later that year in the USA, and the other game was the sequel to that game which was, of course, Super Mario Bros. 3. However, Super Mario Bros. 3 would not be released in America until early in 1990. It is considered one of the best games ever by the gaming community, and I have to agree with them. This game first appeared in the movie called "The Wizard", and it also spawned another afterschool cartoon I used to watch a lot that was also called Super Mario Bros. 3.

So, there was a lot of hype around this game. I ended up going to a Kmart store that was located out of town with my parents around Christmas in 1992 to pick out an NES and also the game SMB3 to go with it. I used to play it on my NES regularly throughout the first half of 1993, and I also played it with some of my friends that lived in my neighborhood at the time on their NES as well. This game was a big part of my childhood and so was the cartoon. I used to be a huge fan of both Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World. This review focuses solely on what I liked about Super Mario Bros. 3 and what made it a great game for me.

Graphics 8/10: You could tell that both SMB2 and SMB3 were being developed around the same time because the two games have about the same quality of graphics. I think SMB3 looks a little bit better, but the backgrounds are still not very well done. This is a very colorful game, and this is especially true when you take a look at the overworld maps. The sprites have about the same level of detail as those in the second game. The characters are pretty well drawn, and in some ways the Koopa kids have even more detail put into their appearance than they did in Super Mario World. I guess maybe that is an overstatement, but Super Mario Bros. 3 on NES doesn't look all that dated when compared to SMB2.

For an NES game, this is a great looking game. Nintendo was really pushing the system's hardware to its limits. The sprites look really good, but the backgrounds still feel like they are lacking. Some parts of the game look really good and other parts still look dull. Graphically, this game is kind of a mixed bag, but there are more good looking levels than bad ones.

Music 8/10: This is one of those games where you have a long list of songs that make up the soundtrack. Having a big song selection to a video game can sometimes hurt it more than it can help it. That is very true for Super Mario Bros. 3. The soundtrack for this game is huge, and there are a few great musical numbers. However, I found a good many of them to be pretty generic. Most of the songs are okay with the exception to the themes for: the airships, fortresses, and the Dark Land theme. Those were the only ones that stood out to me. The rest were okay, and some of them (mainly for the overworld levels) were just kind of dull and repetitive. The music is also a mixed bag with an overall good feeling but not a great one.

Gameplay 10/10: The gameplay is the strongest part of this review, and Super Mario Bros. 3 is a game that is very well laid out. It consists of about 91 levels which can be beaten in only about 1 or 2 minutes. That's what I like most about it. You never stay hung up on one area, and players can also skip levels they don't want to play. This game contains overworld maps of the 8 worlds which give you an idea of what kind of stage you're going to be playing. New items like the Super Leaf turn Mario into a raccoon, and he can now fly over certain sections of the stages. I really liked this new item, and I picked up on the mechanics of it very quickly when I first started playing this game about 25 years ago.

There are also other items such as the Frog Suit, Tanooki Suit, and Hammer Suits found in certain areas (mainly the Toad Houses) of Super Mario Bros. 3. There are also special items like the P-Wing that allow you to clear an entire level by flying over it. This comes in handy on some of the more difficult airship levels. The new Super Leaf and Tanooki Suit items help make your jumps easier. This really comes in great on areas where you have to cross large gaps. The Frog Suit also helps make underwater levels a lot easier, and the Hammer Suit can kill a lot of the tougher enemies like the ones found in the Fortresses.

Mario now has an item inventory that can be accessed by pressing the B button when he is on the overworld maps. Mario can only hold 28 items, and if he gets another one after getting the 28th item that item just gets replaced. You also have to be pretty selective about using items because once you use them, you can't get them back. Although, they can be won pretty easily in the N-panel matching games, found in Toad Houses, and won in the Hammer Bros. fights. There is also another panel line up game found on the overworld map where Mario can earn extra lives. He can also earn extra lives by getting a card at the end of each stage. I swear, there are so many ways to get all kinds of goodies in this game!!

The overworld maps are also a nice touch where Mario can navigate his way through the 8 worlds of the game and even skip over certain levels. There are a lot of levels in SMB3, and each one of them is going to have the same theme as the world you are playing. However, there are still a lot of other types of levels in these worlds as well. There are: overworld stages, underground areas, water levels, ice levels, fortresses, airships, tanks, desert levels, giant levels, cloud levels, pipe levels, you name it! There had never been (and this still probably holds up today with Mario games) this much variety to a Mario game. There are so many different types of stages, and they are all divided up into 8 main worlds.

Super Mario Bros. 3 has a lot to offer in terms of level design and gameplay. There is a huge selection of items in this game that Mario can use to help him get through the game easier. There are a lot of levels in SMB3 and not all of them have to be played. They are also short in length which keeps the game moving. There are also all kinds of secret card games where Mario can win a lot of cool prizes unlike in SMB2 with those crummy bonus games. Most of the levels have really cool themes that go along with the world you are playing, and this is one of the main reasons I like it so much.

Story 10/10: The story of Super Mario Bros. 3 is that Bowser is once again trying to take over the Mushroom Kingdom. This time he has sent his 7 children (Larry, Morton, Wendy, Iggy, Roy, Lemmy, and Ludwig) to steal the wands from the 7 kings of Mushroom Land. The Koopalings use the magic wands to turn the kings into animals, and it is up to Mario to get back the magic wands and restore them to their original selves. While Mario is off doing this, Bowser kidnaps Princess Toadstool and takes her to his castle in Dark Land. This is the game that first introduces the Koopa kids, and I feel like this wouldn't be a Mario game without them.

This is yet another thing I like about this game. Nintendo had come up with a whole new concept in this game that would be used again in other games. However, it was SMB3 where this was first put to use. Bowser really came up with a great idea on how to take over the Mushroom Kingdom and kidnap Princess Peach this time. This was something that would be carried over into the afternoon SMB3 cartoons. Although, I wished they hadn't have changed the names and personalities of the Koopa kids for that show, but I'm sure this was mainly due to copyright issues.

Content 10/10: There is a lot of content to Super Mario Bros. 3. It has about 91 stages broken up into 8 separate worlds: Grass Land, Desert Land, Water Land, Giant Land, Sky Land, Ice Land, Pipe Land, and Dark Land. This game can take about 2 and 1/2 to 3 hours to beat. Me and my friends would have to leave our NESs turned on until we could get time to come back and continue playing. Despite all of this, I think this game has a large amount of content that is very fun to play. Not to mention all the card matching games where you can earn extra lives and items. There are no secret exits to find, but I don't think this game needs any. It's fine the way it is, and SMB3 is more about content and levels that have very clear themes based on the worlds you are playing. It has a lot of levels that are very unique.

Difficulty 8/10: This was a pretty hard game to try and beat whenever I was a kid. A lot of these levels have some pretty tricky platforming to them. It took me a while to get the hang of things, and once I did the game was still pretty difficult. However, I felt like world 1 was where I learned the ropes, then world 2 I put things into practice, world 3 even more practice, and so on, and so on. The difficulty just seems to get higher the more you keep playing, and that's the way it should be with any video game. There are some real puzzles with the fortresses that make things even more interesting. But with all the extra lives and continues, it is a fair and balanced difficulty unlike in Super Mario Bros. 2. As long as you are willing to keep playing, you will beat this game.

Overall 9.2/10: Super Mario Bros. 3 is a pretty good game. The graphics and sound probably hold it back from being all that great of a game, but it still has some pretty cool ideas. I loved how the game was split up into 8 different worlds with their very own theme. Bowser has now sent his 7 children to take over these 8 lands while he kidnaps the Princess yet again! The level design also rocks, and it has plenty of content that will keep players busy for a long time. I hated how it didn't have a save feature, but I still kept playing this game until I beat it. There were so many different kinds of levels to play. The card games were another nice addition as well as the new items that were unlike anything else in the whole classic Mario series. SMB3 hasn't aged at all! It is still just as much fun for me now as it was over 25 years ago when I first played it.

The game where the Mario series started getting innovating   Azul Fria
OVERVIEW

The evil King Koopa and his new Koopalings are taking over the Mushroom World and the latter have transformed the seven kings into creatures and taken over their thrones. Princess Peach (Toadstool) sends the Mario Bros. out to restore all the kingdoms back to normal. The Koopalings are Larry (Cheatsy), Morton Jr. (Big Mouth), Wendy O. (Kootie Pie), Iggy (Hop), Roy (Big Bully), Lemmy (Hip), Ludwig von (Kooky von). The names in parenthesis are from the cartoon series. After you've defeated the Koopalings, you still got to deal with King Koopa who has kidnapped the princess.

Graphics - A+

Compared to the first two games in the series (SMB and SMB2 Japan, the graphics got a major upgrade especially the enemies. Mario and Luigi and all returning enemies have outlines to add more details to their sprites. The Goombas for example looked like walking mushrooms with eyes. Even though they still do, their faces are now more apparent where you can see their mouths and their heads are smoother. The Koopa Troopas and Paratroopas have shells that you can now carry their shells for attack other enemies in the level easier and even break bricks and hit coin blocks. You can also do the same with Buzzy Beetle shells. Speaking of shells, the upgrades to the graphics give the added detail that the shells actually spin while in motion rather than sliding across the floor as seen in the previous games. This is even more apparent when the Buzzy Beetles and Spinys are walking upside down and then come spinning at you while on their backs after dropping down. In some castles, instead of pits you will see lava boiling and it even gives a look that spells out danger. You would think that the spikes would be bad enough to kill you instantly but they only downgrade you if you are not small already. The lava on the other hand will be the instant death of you. Another interesting note to Game Genie users who use the start and stay codes: If you die via lava, timeout, or being pushed out the side of the stage then you will actually retain the colors of the suit during the death animations and on the game over screen.

The backgrounds of the map and in the gameplay are colored with style as you can tell what kind of level you are dealing with. Some parts of them actually play a role in some of the levels like ice physics, quicksand, and swimming. You can even tell what's supposed to be grass, wood, ice, and crystal (which one might confuse for ice but there is no slipping on those).

Gameplay/Controls - A+

Even though I said that things started getting innovative with Super Mario Bros. 3, there was some innovative stuff in Super Mario Bros 2. (Japan) like having one of the castles located in the sky in one level and giving each Mario brother a slight advantage/disadvantage over the other. SMB3 just took it a big step further by adding more content and gimmicks such as the ability to use special suits to further help you advance and some moving platforms move along a wire line. You also meet the Donut Lifts for the first time. Stand on them for too long and they begin to fall. Ice physics are introduced in this game (It was in the US version of SMB2 but that don't count as that game is a hack of Doki Doki Panic). If you run fast enough and stop then the inertia will carry you a distance further depending on your speed before pulling back. If you jump straight up then you will stop sliding.
Mario and Luigi go back to jumping the same way but they have also learned some new attacks. Whenever you come to a slope, you can hold Down on the D-pad and slide down it and kill all enemies in your way. Even though it is not really a new attack, if you are invincible, you can now do a front flip whenever you jump. It doesn't do anything special but it is just there for good measure. In addition to the Fire Suit which has been in the series to begin with, you now have four new suits with new powers. The most common one is the Raccoon Suit with the ability to attack with your tail and the ability to fly. With the P-Wing you can fly indefinitely with the Raccoon Suit. Tanooki Suit has the same effects as the Raccoon Suit plus the ability to turn into a stone statue that renders you invincible for up to five seconds. The Frog Suit is strange in the aspect that you move forward by hopping instead of walking unless you are holding a shell. The advantage of the suit is that you can swim in any of the cardinal directions without having to mash the jump button. Just push the controller in that direction and you are good to go. The Hammer Bros. suit is the best suit of them all. You can chuck hammers at enemies and while they arc instead of run along the ground like the Fireballs do, the hammers are extremely more powerful as you can kill enemies that normally only die when you are invincible (Boos, Twomps, and Hot Foots). You still can't kill the Jelectros or Munchers. However, an added perk to the Hammer Bros. suit is that you are impervious to fireballs while crouching.

Depending on if you are playing the US version or the original Japanese version, you will notice a couple changes that anybody who has played both versions can see that the US version's difficulty was scaled down from the Japanese version but at least they kept it the same game instead of the Doki Doki Panic route with SMB 2. In the US, if you are using a special suit, you will revert to Super Mario when hit but in the Japanese version you become small Mario immediately. Same thing when you are using Kuribo's show when still big. A couple levels were also altered before coming to the US. 4-1 in the US heads straight to the end of the level whereas the Japanese version had a wall with a pipe in it leading to the end of the level. In the World 8 ship, the ships hull was complete in the Japanese version and in the US, a piece on the upper right was removed to make it easier to jump out of the water and onto the ship if you decided to swim under both ships.

Sound/Music - A

The music got so much better with this game. Earlier there used to be a limited soundtrack with the player being able to count on their hands how many different songs there were but now there is a more distinctive soundtrack within the game as their are now more level types. While I won't say you will find yourself jamming to the tunes on your ipod or the like, the music in the game is done with better use of the FamiTracker. The music was so good enough that the creators of the cartoon series even included them within the episodes unaltered. Even the ending theme of the game was included to mark the ending of each episode.

Replay Value - A+

The replay value deserves an A+ rating because the game never gets old. The SNES version included on Mario All-Stars cranks things up a notch even further with graphics but gameplay is still the same. The main reason for a high replay value rating is because there are several secrets to uncover in this level that you will love to find. Some players will prefer to skip levels and others will prefer to play it straight to up the ante on their gameplay experience.

Overall - A

Super Mario Bros 3. was one Nintendo's greatest NES games going into the 90s although it originally came out in 1988. The music, graphics, sound, controls, and everything else were done almost flawlessly but there were some glitches to exploit though none them were really game breaking aside from the Japanese version glitch were if you warp while you are in a boat, you will be stuck inside the warp zone as you will be rowing all over the map with no way to get back.

Super Mario Bros 3 Review   tornadocam
The Mario Brothers are back. Mario Brothers 3 came out around 1990 it has since gone on to be a classic. Here is my review of this great game
Overall: 10
I remember getting this game when it first came out. It is a great game. It is one of my favorites in the Mario games. The graphics are good, the sound is very good. The story was creative. Everything a great game has this game has. Nintendo really went out on this game. Super Mario Brothers 3 has a lot to offer. I enjoyed this game as a young boy when it first came out. I still enjoy it today. I also find that by Nintendo introducing Bowser's children also boosts this games rating.

Graphics: 10
For a Nintendo game Super Mario Brothers 3 really shines. I like how the hills and trees move along  to the music in World 1, 4 and 5. The graphics were so much improved from the first Mario Brothers game. The controls are very nice too. They do not seem sluggish at all. The backgrounds are nicely done too it seems like they match the stage. Nintendo upped their graphics for this masterpiece and it shows. The first Mario Brothers game seemed to have slow graphics and lag at times. I think it was remarkable that Nintendo could come up with very good graphics considering this game is an 8 bit game.

Sound: 10
The Music in Super Mario Brothers 3 rocked. How all the worlds have a different theme is a nice touch. I really like the music in World 4 it is so relaxing and it is upbeat. World 6's ice theme is also nice because it sounds like a winter theme. Really this game does not really have bad music. I also like it how the music in stages alternates. In the first Mario game it just seemed like there were only 4 stage themes. While that was good the player could get tired of hearing the same music over and over. However, in the first Mario game it was the first so it can be expected. But in Super Mario Brothers 3 the sound track is alternating so nobody should get tired of the music. The sounds of power ups are also nicely done. The raccoon power up has a nice sound when the player swirls to knock out an enemy or fly. It is a nice sound because it lets the player know they are doing something. The fire power up also is nice. Other power ups have a nice sound to them as well. The koopa's weapons seem nice too letting the player know they mean business

Addictveness: 9
Super Mario Brothers 3 has one of the highest replay values. As I mentioned above I got this game when it first came out around 1990. Here it is 2014 and I still play this game. The depth of the game really adds to the replay value (more on that below). Just the fact that they are so many levels also adds to the games replay value. I often find myself wanting to go through the game again trying to win with different power ups.

Story: 9
The Story is nicely done. From the intro and from the manual Bowser has returned. Bowser has returned to wreck havoc on the kingdoms in the Mushroom Kingdom. However, this time he has brought surprises his Children. Super Mario Brothers 3 was the first game to introduce the Koopa Kids. I thought that was nice on how Nintendo introduced the children of Bowser. After the player defeats the Koopalings as they are sometimes called. The player will find another familiar plot in the Mario series occurs adding more to the story. It was nice that Super Mario Brothers 3 had a story. The first Mario Brothers game's story was not really defined. So Nintendo made sure to give this masterpiece a story.

Depth: 10
Super Mario Brothers 3 also shines on depth. This is a very big game and its going to take a while to beat. They are so many power ups to try to find in this game. It is often fun just to get a certain power up and try to beat the game using that power. The power ups offered in this game are: fire, raccoon, frog, tukama, and the hammer power up. Their are 8 worlds in this game and each level has its secrets. They are several Mushroom houses to visit for power ups and to try and win prizes. Their is even another way that prizes can be earned by earning enough points. The first Mario Brothers game did not have a lot of depth. So Nintendo makes up for it in this game.

Difficulty: 9
If you thought that Super Mario Brothers 3 was going to be easy like Super Mario Brothers 2 think again. This game is difficult. I have been playing this game for a while and it still is difficult. The stages can be tricky and in some cases you have to go through a maze to reach the end. The first level is easy so that keeps this from getting a 10. However, after world one the game gets difficult fast. I also find that the Koopalings bump up the difficulty. Each Koopa kid has a different attack style and requires different skills to defeat. Some of them especially Roy and Ludwig can stun you when they hit the ground adding more to the difficulty. Another thing that adds to the difficulty is all the enemies they throw at you. Each stage has a lot of enemies so it is real easy to walk right into an enemy or get hit. Also this game is very long which means more traps so that is also what makes this game difficult.

Linkshade's Opinion 4   linkshade 121
Hello Gamers, this another Linkshade's Opinion. I review a classic, Super Mario Bros 3, the first Mario game to have a world map. Also the first game with animal based power ups, like the tanooki leaf, which gives him a suit that is based off of a raccoon. So let's break down the game and give it an opinion.
Graphics-8
For a Nintendo entertainment system game, this game has better graphics than regular NES game. The sprite of the original Mario, has less pixels when the Mario in this game is more structured. Even the Levels have better graphics than the original. In the original, most of the game was designed using square blocks like the "?" block while the "?" had curved corners. Even though this game is great in all, every game still has something it can do better, the reason I lowered graphics rating to 8.
Sound-8
Most 8-bit music I heard I noticed something, It hardly has a beat but this game beat his standard of mine. Even though this isn't the futuristic music of MEGA MAN, this music has a beat. Some noises in the music were sort of the equivalent to percussion. I would know, because the MEGA MAN music has a lot of it. The music from the Mega Man games is kind of the reason I force myself to give the sound a rating of 8 more than a perfect 10. Sorry Super Mario Brothers 3.
   Addictiveness-10
Unlike most NES games I played, this game is very addictive. Unlike previous Mario games where you have to Complete the game before you can replay a level that is more challenging, you can replay a level anytime. You can also save the game so you may not have start all over again, which makes you a little bored every time you play. I got bored of the original Super Mario Bros after a week. Its because of these features this game is very addictive.
Story-6
There is a story in this game, just not a real good one. I seen far complex stories on other games like Fire Emblem Gaiden. I see a reoccurring theme in every Mario Game, Princess Toadstool/ Peach gets kidnapped by Bowser and Cohorts, Mario must battle his minions through 8 worlds, defeat Bowser, and save her. I think had enough of this story, don't you think? Well, then again, you may have a different opinion when it comes to this stuff.
Depth-7
The depth of this game: not even close to Lost Levels 52 Levels but Super Mario Bros 3 has things The Lost Levels doesn't have. This game is the first Mario game to have toad houses to help the player on the map. It also has hammer bros perusing the map and if you run into one, you have to face it. Not the most exciting thing, but anything to keep you occupied. Even though you have a lot to do in this game, I've seen many games with lots more content (ex. Fire Emblem Gaiden).
Difficulty-6
The difficulty of this game I thought was a good six on my scale. It starts off easy at first but as the game progresses, you find it more difficult to complete each level. Well off course that is the purpose for every video game, it progressively gets harder giving you a real challenge. I feel as though a game that would not be is Mario is Missing, which I've found to be sole reason I do these reviews, to get out my opinion because I have I lot of bad stuff to say about that game. Okay, I am not even going to waste my time in this category, let's just get to the Overall rating.
Overall-7.2
I would give this game an overall rating of 7.2 for good graphics and sound, addictive game play, reoccurring story, good amount of content, and normal difficulty. What's your opinion? Post it in the thread and this concludes another review from Linkshade.

Super Mario Bros. 3   Natas
Here's another classic installment of the Mario Series. Bowser is back and with him is his Koopalings children reeking havoc, stealing the magical wands from the kings turning them into creatures as well kidnapping the princess once again. Now mario must run and jump his way through each level, stomping on goombas and throwing koopa shells to make it to the ship to take back the stolen wands and rescue the princess from Bowser's clutches and stop his wicked children from their mischievous deeds
There you'll have the return of the Super Mushroom and Fire Flower and among other old and new items within this title. More notable is the Frog suit that lets you swim smoothly in some levels that require you to swim and the Raccoon tail that allows you to fly and hit your enemies with your tail.  New items can be attained such as the Flute that allows you to warp to any level presented to you as well and shoe that allows you to hope across a gap of miniature white piranha flowers unscathed.
Graphics-8
The graphics is one of the first things I've noticed. It is a very colorful title when you look at it and very easy to enjoy the 2D plat former of it's different levels of colorful joys. Not like the previous title of Super Mario. It's not blocky, of course it had been advanced with better technology with better looks. One of the great improvement of the NES.
 Sound-8
The sound is great and fits well with different catchy tunes in each level. You will enjoy listening while traveling a grassy plain or jumping across many blocks in the dessert. The sound improved since the blocky era of the first title in my opinion. There's hardly any dull music or tunes when you feel like taking your time to collect all the coins of the level and enjoying the sound of stomping goombas that crosses your path.
Addictiveness-6
If you're a big fan of Mario. Then you'll enjoy the few new varieties that you can attain during your run through of this 2D classic. You'll spend hours jumping on goombas and throwing koopa shells into unsuspecting enemies, but after your first time through this title the thrill soon becomes old and the routine is the same, but still one of the great Mario title of the NES to remember your childhood gaming days.
Story-5
Just like with all Mario titles. It's Mario's job to rescue the kidnapped Princess Toadstool from the clutches of Bowser, but this time. He brought along his troublesome children to put a stop to Mario's attempt. Now, Mario must also rescue the kings by retrieving the magical wands from Bowserlings and turn the king back into their old selves and give Mario a letter from the princess with helpful items.
Depth-3
Not much can be offered in this title. With exceptions of few hidden areas and new items it holds, but mostly it's a quick run through of the levels and you've completed the game. So don't expect a ton of hidden rooms or levels, because if you beaten the game. You've pretty much done everything.
Difficulty-5
It haves it share of frustrations with some annoying obstetrical to get by and some enemies that just gets in your way to slow you down, but all in all. It's a fairly easy game and easy to get used to the patterns. So you'll have no problem getting pass each levels to complete the game.

Super Mario Bros. 3 Review   brawler456
Let me start this review by saying this: This was my first ever Mario game, when I received this game along with the original Mario, and Pacman arcade with my first ever GBA. Less than a year after, this game was stolen from me, and even today, I regret the decision of bringing it with me.
Graphics: Yes, I rated Graphics an 8. Hate it, like it, I don't care. Some people realize that back in the days, there were not the amazing technological devices we have today to enhance volume, and graphics of software, and games. Back in the olden days, video games were a miracle in itself, and this was one of the better designed games out there. Nintendo has been known for the look of their games, hence, for the little technology we had back to create such marvelous beauties that we have today, I rate Graphics an 8.
Sound: Going back to before, there was little technology back then to help improve the sound quality. For a game as 'old' as Mario, these Graphics were improved quite dramatically throughout the history of the series/franchise. Super Mario Bros. 3 is no exception. Some of the music we hear on this game is still used in some of the newer Mario games (take Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games for instance), and always brings a smile to an old gamer's face when hearing it. I rate Sound a 9.
Addictiveness: Man, going back and revisiting this game, I could hardly, if ever put it down. Super Mario Bros. 3 not only has the main story where you have to get the magical staffs back and rescue the princess who never seems to be out of trouble, but there is also a side mini game on the title screen for players to accumulate the highest score they can killing all sorts of enemies. So even after the main story has been completed, there is still a goal: achieve a higher score than last! I rate Addictiveness an 8
Story: I hate to say it, but, here's where the scores lower a bit. . . Everyone knows the classic Mario story: Princess gets kidnapped, get her back killing any sort of enemy in the way of your conquest whether it be a Koopa, Goomba, or Bowser's children, and it's rarely different (not counting games such as Mario Kart or Tennis, I do not consider these canon). Super Mario Bros. 3 is no exception in this case, except for the fact you're getting the magical staffs back while going to rescue Peach. I rate the Story a 7.
Depth: Ah. . . The many ways I could argue the depth of this Mario game. In Super Mario Bros. 3, it can take a while for new or inexperienced players to complete said game, but in the case of a veteran (myself included), the game could take mere hours to play through the entire game, leaving them with nothing to do.  Putting myself in the shoes of someone not so experienced with the Mario community, I rate Depth an 8.
Difficulty: Again, this another thing to debate. For players who are learning, this game will be much more difficult compared to players who are experienced with Mario. If a new player has no idea what to do, of course this game will be difficult, but if you're more experienced, you will breeze right through the levels. Because of this, I rate Difficulty a 7.
Overall: This game is very connected to my young childhood. I remember playing it  on the day of my birthday, my eyes glimmering brightly, and to me, this review is biased in a way. This was my first ever video game, and for that, it has a special place in my heart. With all the Goombas, Koopas, Bullet Bills, and of course, lost lives, I rate Super Mario Bros. 3 a solid 8.7.

Super Mario Bros. 3   ProGamer135
Well, this retro video game is named Super Mario Bros. 3.
This game is unique in its own ways. World one is on of my favorite worlds. The game starts off with the most simple level of the game, world 1-1. This level includes the basic enemies which are goombas, paragoombas, green koopas, red koopas, green paratroopas, and pirahna plants.
Most of the enemies are as simple as pie to defeat. This level includes much flying and soaring throughout the sky and running. I seriously enjoy jumping for some apparent reason. World 1-2 was enjoyable because I collected a starman in that course. The starman theme music is a catchy jingle. I actually hum it to myself when I'm currently busy. It keeps my mind on track of things.
The graphics in this course were great, well, at least in my opinion. Course three is just awesome. All of the enemies in that level were astounding. At least to beginners. I'm not a beginner in this video game. World 1-4 is awesome. I enjoy the action and the enemies. I mostly enjoyed the cave courses in Super Mario Bros 3. The first minor castle is like a test to see if it qualifies or not. It's extremely simple and there is a secret instrument named the flute on a top of the minor castle. I rarely use the flute. It is a world warp. Although, the flute is in many courses. The minor castle boss is fun to defeat. Meanwhile,
I enjoy the scenery in the first world. It is like land. Well, it is land. Anyways, world two is an awesome world. I uncommonly enjoy desert courses. For some apparent reason, I just don't know why I enjoy them extremely much this time period. Plus, the final bosses in world one and world two are enjoyable to conquer. I enjoy retrieving the transformed king's wand. The king may be annoying most of the time. There are too many kings that ask me to complete my journey to retrieve their wands. Anyways, world three is one of my favorite worlds.
The music of the courses and the world itself is just extremely catchy. I remember when I was around seven years old, I would always become terrified when I see the giant fish that may swallow Mario. I'm no longer terrified. I was more younger, then. World four is the most insane world of all. You may have objects and enemies become larger in size or normal size. The music for world four is my favorite soundtrack. World four is also my favorite world inside Super Mario Bros. 3. World five is awesome because it includes cave courses and two parts of the world. The music is also catchy and short. I seriously forgot what world six was. All I know that every world is awesome. World seven is great because of the level wrap. My cousin enjoys the world seven theme music. Although, I discover world seven the most difficult of all the world. It's even more difficult than world eight. Although, it isn't as challenging when you know what motion to use next. World eight is just plain awesome. Fighting Bowser is extremely simple. My great grandmother is over seventy years old and she still currently knows how to play all these Mario and Donkey Kong video games. For all I know, she may be playing video games currently. Well, this is my largest review in a while. Good luck playing this video game and I hope you enjoy reading over my retro game review for Super Mario Bros. 3. Good luck, users!XD

Super Mario Bros. 3   TreasurePlanet23
Introduction What's not to like about Mario? Mario is the main character for Nintendo. He rolls in all the dough for the company. There have been plenty of games with him in it. His main villain is Bowser. A giant turtle, or at least that is what I think he is, with spikes mostly everywhere on his body continuously kidnaps the princess. Her name is Peach by the way. I don't know how she seems to get herself kidnapped every single game. But she does a good job doing it. Today, we are going to be looking at one of the greatest NES classics, Super Mario Bros. 3. This game is considered to be one of the best games on the Nintendo Entertainment System, and for good reasons too. We will jump right into these reasons right now!
Graphics: The graphics on this game is what you would expect on an above average Nintendo game. They really didn't emphasize the graphics department on this game too much. But don't get me wrong, the graphics are quite good. They are bright and colorful. Especially the background really gets your attention, but don't let that distract you. from the actual gameplay. I really enjoy what they did with the graphics on this game, so for that, I rate the graphics a 9/10.
Sound: Oh man. The sound on this game will get your head bopping throughout the entire game. All songs should be on your IPod immediately. The songs in this game are very catchy, and they suit that mood very well. Like say if your are on an open level, the game music is very vibrant. But if you are on a boss stage, the music is dark and mysterious. Nevertheless, the game has much to offer in terms of music variety. I really enjoy every song in this entire game. I really enjoy the underground music from the original Super Mario Bros. So for this, I will give the sound a whopping 10/10.
Addictiveness: This game is very addictive. It will keep your drawn in until you are either satisfied with your progress, or your beat the game. I believe it took me about 5 hours to beat this game. And that is with no cheats. Trust me on this, you will be stuck on this game for a long time. Just jumping on enemies heads and defeating tough bosses just added to the excitement of the game. If you are stuck on a hard boss for a while and your finally got down his pattern, you will force yourself to go till the end. And it is very satisfying when you do. So for that, I will give the addictiveness of this game a 10/10!
Story: The story is nothing new. Bowser has once again kidnapped the princess and you have to go set out on a journey to try and free her from Bowser's evil hands. That is pretty much all there is to it. Because this story has repeated so many times, I will give the story of this game a 7/10.
Depth: The depth of this game could have gone a little farther. There is wide variety of enemies in this game. They really added on to the previous two games and they did a good job of that. It is so satisfying when you jump on those goombas and they just squash into the ground. But that is it really. They didn't really need to add much else because they knew it was going to be a masterpiece. So because of that, I will score the depth of this game an 8/10. If they added more levels and different powerups, the it would get a 10/10.
Difficulty: This game is relentlessly hard. At first, it feels like any other mario game. But when you get into the later levels, it really starts to turn on the difficulty switch. Once you enter the 7th and 8th world, you better be expecting to lose at least 4 or 5 lives because those are the hardest parts of the game. But, none the less, it is a great game. Just because a game is really hard doesn't mean it is bad. So for the endless difficulty, I give the difficulty of this game a  9/10.
Overall: Overall I will give this game a 10/10 because it is so great. They really did a great job with this game. Just the right amount of hardness matched with unbeatable gameplay leads you right to money land. Well, that too, but for us gamers, it results in a lot of time wasted in this game. They really outdid themselves with Super Mario World, but we will save that for another review. There really isn't much else to be said. This game, in my opinion, is THE best game on the Nintendo Entertainment System. Period.

Super Mario Bros. 3   RetroLover30898
Super Mario Bros. 3. A title we are all familiar with. Super Mario Bros. 3 is a fun, addicting Mario game, in which you play the role of an Italian plumber (Mario) who has once again lost track of the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, Toadstool (Peach), due to the evil designs of King Koopa (Bowser) and his children.
Overall Rating: 9.7
It takes four key elements of a game to make it good; good speed, good control, good graphics, and a good storyline. This game, in my personal opinion, contains all four.
Graphics: 9
Compared to the other two Super Mario Bros. titles for NES, the graphics look a lot better than the other two. I don't have any beef with the graphics at all, it's just that fun of a game to play and not really care about the graphics.
Sound: 9
The catchy tunes in Super Mario Bros. 3 play a huge roll in the fame and recognition of this game. When you first start up the game and select a 1 Player game, the World 1 map screen already has you moving in rhythm of the cacti. And as far as I am concerned, a good game with good music and good game play is a masterpiece.
Replay Value: 10
This game just has that much replay value, and you can thank the depth and sound for most of it, but I'm not going to get into depth just yet. If you aren't a huge fan of the Mario franchise, I still see no reason for this not to have a good replay value for you. It's just that fun.
Story: 7
The story didn't get off to a good start in the beginning. If you didn't have the instruction manual, you probably couldn't tell what the story was about unless you played one of the other 2 games or played the game itself before, but as you play through the game, you can start to tell what the story is about.
Depth: 9
This game has so much to offer. So much more power-ups, a whole lot of variety to the 8 different worlds, an overworld map (which is new), a type of item selection on the map screen, just so much more to play with. None of this you had before, and if it weren't for this game (and possibly a few others), variety you see in modern-day games wouldn't be there.
Difficulty: 6
I found this game a bit over the border, difficulty wise. Eventually, the game does get harder as you play through it, but if you're one of those who have such a high replay value for this game that you know everything there is to this game, it may seem like a cakewalk, but in reality, it isn't such a cakewalk, that is, until you reach the last few levels. Either way, this game doesn't have that huge or low of a difficulty, which, combined with the rest of the elements of the game, makes it a rather great game.
So yes, if you seriously haven't played this game, you need to. It's just that good of a game, and I can guarantee that it will seem at least a little bit fun. Would I recommend this game to a random person? Yes, I most definitely would.

A Super Tre-quel   Austin Winter
So I have been way to harsh on this game since i first played it 2 years ago. I could never beat it then, so I considered it a bad game. Getting into it though, this game is great. Just really... really... hard.
Super Mario 3 is yet another game with the same mechanics as the first. The thing that makes this game different though, is the wooden and staged look to the levels, and the new areas.
So starting off, graphics are about a 7. They aren't bad at all for their time. This is an NES game mind you, still the first console Nintendo ever released. They made some major improvements over the years. Same as it may be, this game features a map mechanic where you can choose your next location (kinda). You have your basic paths, but by doing secret things on levels such as discover hidden pipes, you can access optional skips or worlds on the map. This also includes events in which you are forced to fight an enemy traversing the map for you to progress. It gets a little irritating at times, especially when you can't beat them to save your life. I'm referring to you, hammer bros.
This game introduces the Tanooki suit. A powerup that turns Mario into a raccoon with heightened flying abilities. Ships, new stages that move up and down, with cannons firing at your feet. The difficulty spikes at the stages because you have to make it through the stage in one piece and kill a boss at the end of almost every world. It gets irritating as well, due to the repetitive nature of the ships along with increasing difficulty. The ability to store items is the only thing that saves it for me. Otherwise, the ships are nearly impossible going in blind. They only get longer each world.
Off of the complaining aspect, the normal game stages are pretty creative and enjoyable. This game is practically what Super Mario 3D Land was based off of. I wouldn't recommend this game to an average gamer looking for a fun time, as you will tear your hair out at the difficulty. I suggest playing with save states, otherwise you lose ALL your progress upon losing your last life. I give this game a 7 because it is pretty much the same formula as any other Mario game. The difficulty sells the game for me. I would have gone into more detail in this review, but aside from what I mentioned, if you've ever played another Mario game, you won't be surprised by this game.
As I mentioned earlier, I've been way too harsh on this game, but i do love it. I'm a difficulty kind of gamer. I feel this game deserves more credit than I can give. Me and my mother played this game together since I was 11 until now. And we still die every 5 minutes. As a speedrunner of other Mario titles I can honestly say that my opinion on the difficulty is not overly dramatic, but I suggest trying it out yourself if you want the whole feeling.

Super Mario Bros. 3: NES Review   deadmandevelin
Super Mario Bros. 3; A memorable classic only to be truly recalled by those who experienced it first hand after coming home from the local video store. Does it still hold up? Well, you probably already know the answer, but let's get into it.
Story:
Super Mario Bros. 3 (SMB3) is a regular old, run-of-the-mill save the princess from the big, bad monster story. Nothing special, really. You, the player, play as Mario "Jumpman" Mario, a plumber from the Toadstool Kingdom, who is chasing after the original kidnapped damsel, Princess Toadstool, or Peach. She has been adopted by surprise from overly-sized turtle, or koopa, Bowser. Like I said, nothing special. It's a overused story mechanic that never seems to get old, but that doesn't mean it stays fresh. Though because this is a more than 20 year old game, I won't give any specific rating as this was a "new"  idea for up-and-coming game developers such as Nintendo, to beat into the ground harder than Almogordo Air Base after the first atomic bomb test.
Graphics:
So let's talk retro games. Some are charming, and some aren't. Luckily, SMB3 is a very bright, colorful bundle of joy. It has many different worlds fitting of some varied atmospheres, and a good way of interpreting those atmospheres is through the magical world of video game graphics. As I said before SMB3 is a very bright, joyous game, but it can also be just as sketchy, and dark. For example, World 8 puts you straight into the depths of what appears to be Hell. For a concept as satanic and spooky as Hell, an equally satanic and spooky background is requested and that's what is delivered with a bow on top and a card telling you how good you look. Skulls are engulfed with flames, lava is glowing, embers fly, and dirt is smouldering. A perfect setting, wouldn't you say so? I legitimately felt nervous, and high-strung when I first encountered the counterpart of religious setting, Heaven. I still do to this day. Another good example would be the first world, or tutorial world. It's cheery, bouncy, and a plethora of colors are infused into the background. For a beginner such as my younger-self, a world so enticing and beautiful was an impeccable choice made by the designers. It allows kids of any age to be introduced to an obstacle without being too angry when the eventual death comes along. I really do mean it. I can't tell you how many times I got a game-over on this world, and I, the most impatient, feverishly angry brat, did not get mad. Sure I got serious and focused, but I never once remember screaming at the screen. That's some good work there. For doing a great job on bringing imagination to a physical level, I give the graphics a rating of 9.
Sound:
To be honest, I won't go that far into the music. I will say though, the music direction is far better than superb. Just like the graphics, the atmosphere requests a far better than above average soundtrack and again that's what it delivers. A good example would be the water world. I still find myself bobbing my head to it over and over. Its beat is just too catchy and the overall feel of the tune just is overwhelming with a perception of great difficulty, but a good amount of fun. It's brilliant. For multiple concussions caused from head-bobbing, I give the music a rating of 9.
FluFF :
I only call this the fluff because I feel the "Addictiveness" and "Depth" don't need a whole section for itself ~ Side Note; As for addictiveness, I actually find myself playing this game over and over again through out the years. It truly is a masterpiece. How's that? Well, for depth, SMB3 is an NES game. There's not what I would call "collectibles", but it does seem to always have different routes, or secrets that I haven't seen yet, giving it a more than substantial amount of replay-ability (especially for a fairly aged game). The depth gets a rating of 7, the addictiveness gets a rating of 6.
Difficulty:
This section gets its own because why not ~ Side Note; Difficulty is what some gamers, like hardcore gamers, feel is a big part of the enjoyment out of the game. It's different for many, and I don't really agree with it as I am a casual gamer (with some), but that doesn't mean that this game is not difficult. As you progress in classic Mario action, the frustration meter is cranked up. Some levels I personally still struggle to get past, but that doesn't mean it's impossible. Even younger gamers can get past a level as quickly as those who grew up with it. It all depends on how you feel you can make it happen. For bringing a considerable amount of pain and accomplishment to back it up, I give it a difficulty rating of 6; not terribly troublesome.
Overall:
SMB3 is a wonderful concoction of great graphics, banging music, nostalgic sounds, and a splendid amount of difficulty and achievement, I give SMB3 a rating of 9.5.

Mario battles koopaling terrors!   BlastOffMoony
Bowser has come back once again! Along with his Koopalings of tiny terror to thwart Mario's plans of saving the Mushroom Kingdom!
Mario is a gaming staple, he has been on almost every genre for Nintendo and has around 200 games under his belt. This game is one of his older staples, although not his first game or even really his third. It was the game that defined Mario and his style. The classic Italian plumber traverses more levels, traps and worlds to save the princess but this time, Bowser has brought his kids along.
Graphics:
For a original Nintendo game the graphics are very good; very little slow downs, almost no clipping or flashing. The colors are bright and vibrant, and the stages are littered with obstacles and other objects to make the world appear more real. 10/10
Sound:
The music is phenomenal and even to this day many know the sings by heart and can sing or play them. Each song fits where it is present. The sound affects however, although very good aren't as great as the music and thus brings the score down. 9/10
Addictiveness:
Even though the game isn't exactly open world it is still very addictive. The tried and true platformer genre still holds up today. 10/10
Story:
The story is where the game lacks the most, other then Bowser bringing his kids to help. It is just like all the other Mario games. 7/10
Depth:
Even though this game does not contain downloadable content, unlockables or achievements it still has plenty of depth for most gamers. Containing a variety of worlds, different paths and a score system you could come back and play it over and over. 8/10
Difficulty:
This might be a biased rating because for me the game isn't exactly easy but most Mario gamers wouldn't say it's hard, but from my own perspective it is pretty hard. 8/10

Super Mario Bros 3 Review   spirits10
Mario is a legend; He is more recognisable than Mickey Mouse, and is the icon for video games. Two games are responsible for this phenomenon known as Mario; the original Super Mario Bros, and Super Mario Bros 3. Whilst the first is an unbelievable game, even today, make no mistake, Super Mario Bros 3 takes everything that is wonderful about the original and kicks up to the next level.
Graphics
Despite it's 8 bit appearance, this game is actually quite a beauty. Compared to the original's slightly generic and simple visuals. Mario's third adventure is a rainbow of colors, showing Mario running through Grassy plains, sandy deserts, underground pipe worlds, and many more. The graphics weren't the best the system has seen, though for the day they were state of the art. 7/10
Sound
How can you not love 8 bit music? Super Mario Bros 3 brought even more of Mario's wonderful tunes to the mix in this game, bringing a diverse set of upbeat and fun music to the table, from the iconic music of world 1, to the wonderful airship music, to my personal favorite, the water world theme. This music may not be as iconic as the original's, but from start to finish this music is just pure fun. 9/10
Addictiveness
This is Mario game, for crying out loud! Mario games are meant to be fun and addictive, and this one is a big one. Playing this game just once is virtually impossible; even if you manage to beat the game in one go, you won't get enough. You'll go back for the secrets, or just for the fun of running through the worlds and beating up the Koopalings yet again. This game is absolutely addicting, and one of the most memorable games in the franchise. 9/10
Story
Mario games may not be the most story orientied game in the NES library, but if you play it, you'll actually see a somewhat interesting story.. Bowser has returned, but he's not just interested in taking taking over the Mushroom Kingdom; He wants the whole entire WORLD! To help him in this conquest are his seven children, the Koopalings. Together, the seven Koopalings conquered the seven other kingdoms in the Mushroom Kingdom, stealing the Magic Wands in the process. Now Mario must venture all over the planet to defeat the Koopalings and get their wands back. Oh, and then Bowser kidnaps Peach. Shocker. 6/10
Depth
This is no way a small game. Whilst not as big as games like Zelda or Metroid, This game was still pretty big, with 8 large worlds, each packed with an assortment of secrets. Who can forget the three warp whistles hidden behind 1-3, the first fort and world 2? Or the treasure ships you could get when you beat a level on a certain world in a certain way. There are some truly memorable levels, and the grandness of this game is beaten only by a few games of it's day 8/10
Difficulty
Now, this game isn't the most difficult game, and from world's one to three, this game is pretty easy, from there, however, this game gets hard fast. The Sky World and the Dark World remain as the most frustarating (and fun) worlds in the game. Despite it's earlier ease, this game really screw with you in later parts 8/10
This game may not be as revolutionary as it's predecessor, but despite this, this game is just as good, and in fact superior to  Super Mario Bros 1. Despite it's faults, this game is the absolute best adventure Nintendo's mascot has starred in, and is the best game the NES offers. 9.9/10

Mario bros 3 argueablly the best nes game in my opinion   SuperCrash64

Well Mario Bros 3 is an actually real made game unlike Mario bros 2 where it was a texture hack of japans dokey dokey panic . Well anyways Lets start this review :)

Graphics well the colors do seem a little washed out to me but . Its okay do to nes being a 8 bit system all stages have gotten there original detail and glory of the original Mario bros with neater features. These graphics are really sharp rich and colorful for the 8 bit system. So graphics gets a 9 . There rather impressive even though some colors seem a little washed out .But its barely noticeable. .

Sound All Jumping sound effects  from the previous Mario games are here.so there are some variations . And The  Nes Sound chip rather does do pretty well for the soundtrack my favorite is the shortcut to third level on Mario bros 3. So Sound gets a 10 its has a lot of variations that are very true to the Mario series . And the soundtrack is pretty well done with the sound chip the nes had .

Addictiveness Mario Bros 3 was my favorite out of the Mario series everything just feels accurate  unlike Mario bros 2 . I really enjoy the smooth controls with the 2 button configuration . Its still true to the original has neat soundtracks and the overall game play is fun . Addictiveness gets a 10

Story its pretty much the same thing The Koopa King Bowser is trying to rule the mushroom kingdom by kidnapping peach trying to kill Mario while he tries to rescue her . Anyways story gets a 5 nothing really new. Companies always seem to prefer to stick with the original stories its not a bad idea but they could try to make a new story though.

Depth  Mario bros 3 is a classic offers a lot of levels shortcuts game play everything that made the original Mario bros great and offers new upgrade s like the raccoon suit. I still play it today because this game is just greatness .Anyways depth gets a 10 perfectly balanced depth and very true to its successors Mario bros 1 and Mario bros 2.

Difficulty like Other games Difficulty is good and bad depending on how well you play the game  Mario bros 3 is a plan platform game that does not take long to master . Its pretty easy and hard for me  the controls work well as expected . So difficulty for this game can be a good challenge . I give difficulty for this game a 6.

Final Verdict I may have not grew up with game but playing it now its freaking awesome one of my favorite games of all time its  you can even download it through the virtual console on the Nintendo wii or Mario all stars for snes and wii . And its even on the gba . Mario Bros 3 is a classic that  I really seem to enjoy . Its gets a 9.8  This game is incredible . I can highly recommend it :)

Super Mario Bros. 3...my favorite :)   pi0x
I actually never got to play this game until a few years ago, when I got it on the Wii, but it is still one of my favorite Mario games of all time.
Since this is one of the later games to come out on the NES, or course the graphics are gonna be nice. But I take a personal liking to these graphics, they have nice detail for the NES. The graphics for this game just catch my eye for some reason.
The sounds are what you would expect from a NES game not really the best quality, because of it's time. But the music in the game is very catchy! I even sing along with the music of each level, as I play. haha.
Nintendo did a great job keeping me addicted to this game, mostly because of the graphics and I just love retro platformer games, and this game is the best one :). I played for like 7 hours straight each day for like a week.
As for the story...it's not really creative. it's always the same thing in Mario games, with a few small twists in it. Princess Peach gets captured by Bowser, and it's Mario's job to save her. But hey if it aint broke don't fix it, and that's exactly what Nintendo did.
SMB3 is quite a long game, with a lot of fun challenging worlds to play in. I honestly never actually was able to beat it, but I did come pretty close. Only a few worlds away. The game offers a variety of words, from rolling green hills, to deserts. Each level is fun to play, and surprisingly doesn't seem to getThere repetitive, like some platformers do. There are also quite a few surprises in the game :D, some secrets to find out, and some other easter eggs.
This game is challenging, but not like get you frustrated, get up and slam the controller around, and scream at the game challenging :P, but "Hey, this level is hard. I MUST BEAT IT!" kind of challenging. Just be careful not to make stupid mistakes while playing, like jumping randomly, and running through the whole level. It doesn't go well if you do that in Mario games :P. lol.
Over all this is my second favorite Mario game ever released, right after Super Mario 64. But they are both really close. I absolutely HATE the one level where that sun thing is chasing after you, it took me forever to get passed that part! Other than that part the game was fairly challenging, with loads of fun levels and was quite addicting as a NES platformer.
Great job Nintendo :)

Super Mario Bros.3   VizzedGuy111
Super Mario 3: Review
By: VizzedGuy111
Ah, Super Mario Bros.3. It's the 3rd (or 4th due to Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2) installment of the Super Mario Bros. series, and good Mario game with new power ups like the Tanooki leaf and the frog suit, and new features that are added that are used from some modern Mario games. It also has a good rating and quite a hard one too. I'm going to review Super Mario Bros. 3 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (or NES for short)
Graphics 7/10
The graphics are quite great for the system. The characters' and enemies' models were quite detailed and even the levels were quite good too although the tiles could use some work. The animations are quite smooth and I find it okay. However the ridiculous thing about this is that when you're at the spade house, when you're small, you are actually smaller than a toad! However that thing doesn't change the rating, so now I'm gonna tell you the rating! I give the graphics a 7/10.
 Sound 6/10
It's really hard to tell about the sound, but here we go!  The sound is not that bad actually. I mean there isn't a lot of sounds in this game (I think) but at least they sound pretty good on the system. The music are pretty good too. The music are pretty catchy and you may hum them. So without further or do, I give the the sound 6/10!
   Addictiveness 6/10
I guess I could probably play this game again. I mean this game is a Mario game I'm I right? The levels are okay I guess, but at least features like houses, enemy encounters, and airships are good. You also have a score in order to compete who has the best score. However, if you're focusing in completing the game, well here you go.
    Story 4/10
The story is the same old Mario story again.  Princess Toadstool has been kidnapped by Bowser. What does Mario do? He saves Princess Toadstool of course. *sigh* I'll give the story a 4/10 rating.
   Depth 8/10
I have to give the depth a high rating and here's why. You have levels to complete, you have houses to go to, castles to destroy, enemies to encounter, and airships to conquer. Well that's it. So i give the depth a good 8/10 rating.
   Difficulty 7/10
The difficulty is woah. The enemies are okay, but the death pits are massive. You have to keep avoiding them and it's quite hard to jump are dodge them So I give the difficulty a 7/10.
   Overall 8.5
I give the overall of the game 8.5. I mean this game is quite awesome and a good Mario game for the NES. So, that's at least have to be a 8.5.
So anyway I'm done with this review. So if you have never played Super Mario Bros.3 for the NES, go play it! It's quite fun!

Super mario bros 3!   crazycatpup
SUPER MARIO BROS 3! this game is amazing, when I was 5 I was playing this game with my nanny.
I just love this game so much! it brings back so many memories of when I was a little kid.
Graphics:6
The graphics they aren't the best but they are still great for an older system but they did do the best with what they had back then. xD
Sound: 8
The sound is wonderful, the music is just wonderful and very catchy.
Like all mario music, it just gets stuck in your head forever! "-"
Addictiveness: 9
This is yet another game I started playing when I was 5, my nanny and me would always play it when I went over to her house. It is very addicting I'd have to say especially for little kids because the raccoon flying tail will alone have you flying around for hours.
Story: 7
A normal story line for mario, you must save the kingdom from evil bowser and his little evil kiddies, of course most people who have ever played mario know how the story goes.
Depth: 8
Depth is normal really, not that much to it. just running around trying to save the world from bowser and his little kiddies of evil.
Difficulty: 6
This game really isn't that difficult, it's easy enough for anybody to beat really.
I beat it at 5 years old of course I had a little help from my nanny like I said but even a 3 year old could play it with no problems.
Overall: 9
This game is such a great game for everyone, even the kids.
It's a game everyone can enjoy over and over again and it never gets old.
I really recommend this game to anybody with a family or just anybody really
It's a great game and It'll give you something to do for a while. :3

Super Mario Bros 3 Review   starwars293
Hello people it’s me starwars293. This time I am reviewing
the greatest game ever and that game is Super Mario Bros 3. That was the best
game ever that I couldn't’t keep my eyes away from the computer screen when I
first played it. Out of all the Mario Bros games, this was the best one and it
still is. The game was also on the SNES with the other 3 games in Super Mario
All-Stars. Those 3 games were Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 2 and the game
that was never released in the U.S. Super Mario Bros The Lost Levels. I will
review Super Mario All-Star next time. This game was my favourite on the NES
because you get new power ups like Mario
become Hammer Mario and all those stuff. You can also hold your power ups, say
if you wanted to start a level and you needed to use a power up you need, you
can use that power up before you start the level. Super Mario Bros 3 was also
the greatest game on the SNES. I liked Super Mario Bros 3 on the NES and SNES. But
the thing that was different between these games was the graphics. SNES games
usually had better graphics then NES games. But this game was hard. On world 8,
there were these hands that drag you down and you had to dodge 12 tanks to move
on. The battle against Bowser was different from the one from the first game.
Bowser has to ground pound you and you have to make sure he smashes 5 blocks in
a row, so that means that you have to dodge him 12 times before you beat him.
The bosses were different, instead of having to fight the Fake Bowsers you
fight his kids except Bowser Jr. When you beat a level, you get a card. If you
get 2 matching cards, you get a 1up but if you get 3 matching cards you get a
5up. On to the review now.
Story-The story is the same from the first game, you have to go through 8 worlds,
defeat Bowser and his kids and you beat the game
Depth-It offers lots of stuff like I said Mario ca turn into Hammer Mario.
New power ups and you also get to hold them
Addictivness-I would play this game again since they have cool power ups.
You also get to play the Classic Mario Bros but only on 2 player mode
Controls-The controls for this game are use the arrow keys to move,
X to jump and Z to attacks, hold Z and you run.
On the NES, D-Pad to move,B to jump and A to attack,
Hold A and you run.
Graphics-The game has NES like since its on the NES but they're good
Sound-The sound is really good, instead of having 2 sounds,
you get more in the game
Difficulty-Like I said the game is hard but mostly on world 8
Wrap Things Up-Super Mario Bros 3 is a fun game that I would play
and so would you!

Super Mario Bros 3   ross4587
Another good Mario game, certainly that I can see. Most of its features are unchanged from the previous two Mario games on NES, so that means for every 100 coins Mario picks up, an extra 1up will be given, and there are also various different power-up collectibles that can be found by hitting a block, making Mario invincible or Bigger. The leaf power-up is different to that from Super Mario World. Instead of Super Mario, Mario will transform into a tiger-like creature, destroying enemies and blocks with his tail. A useful weapon, and one of many, that Mario will have tucked in his pocket as he travels through the lands. Again, something sounds familiar when I say Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach, as he has done time and again, he never gives up, does he. In addition, his kids will patrol the lands, grabbing the wands from the Kings of the lands and turning them into harmless creatures, so they can take-over as guardians. Mario once again has his hands full. The depth that this game has, in terms of features and content, is great. There are a number of opportunities during the game in which Mario can get extra 1ups or priceless power-ups that will help him on his way during the journey, such as the card game. Also there are toad houses in which you can get a freebie in the form of a power-up or life. During the game, before the level, Mario can choose which power-ups to use should he have a long list of them, giving him extra strength and a better chance of completing a level. The sounds are instantly noticeable, as I've heard those in several other Mario games, so you know straight away that this is truly a Mario game. There is a good number of levels in each land that he will be based in, trying to reclaim the stolen wand that can undo everything bad that the Bowser kids have performed on the Kings. Levels will get harder, naturally, as you progress through to the end. Completing them all will lead to the land boss level, but losing a life during the boss level can result in the level being based in a different location. Other levels, such as bonus, can move around the land grid too, so you may find yourself in a bonus level sooner than you think. Finally, this is a excellent game for any Mario fan, even new up-and-coming ones that want to get to know about the great games involving Mario. I find myself coming back to play this and trying to do better than the last attempt. Certainly a huge challenge during the game, but an entertaining one as well.

MARIO   sammy125
Everyone love Mario I member playing this as a kids I still pay from time to time it a really as some game finding hidden pas sway and hidden item some new spot I still finding that I didn't know about I think this game is a 10 out of 10 I do tell everyone to play even my friends and small family member still play it and they cannot get enough of it... the story line is good but you think that the princess would learn not to get caught loll... but if she didn't it wouldn't be a fun game because we know her lover Mario would get her back at the end... with the help of his friend and some items... what is your favorite item... mine is the P wing that make you fly o ute the whole level sometime it a good thing to have some time it not so be care full using item I really don't like that star it has a time limit on it my five is the teddy bear item that one when you turn to stone that one is awesome and cute.. Yes I have a sine's still it work great  that game is not that hard to start out with but it get harder along the way
I think that why this game was so much fun trying to see if you can get as far as you can with only 5 live if you don't get the 1 ups through out the game... but don't you hate when you lose you got to start all the board over again but when you finally get pass that hard board you do a little happy dance and run and tell everyone in your house you beat the board and they look at you funny. I member who me and my 7 brother and 2 sister would fight over playing it because it was that good to play... but I think it time that Mario got updated to PlayStation's and xboxs and other game conceal... i know there some for N64... them are good game but dose not compeate agianst the classics games. For them player who havent play start playing it fun and make time go by faster when there nothing to do. you can aslo do the battle with a family member or freinds and make some fun out of it . so what you waiting for start playing. have you wonder when you pick the lock box in the mushroom house what are in them all but you can only pick one well hit f2 before picking and when you pick one and dont like it hit f4 a little cheat but it works...

Sorry, Mario but the Princess is across 8 different worlds   huntra1291
To me this is the best of the 8 bit Mario games. It features 8 different worlds to go through (a feature that would roll over to Super Mario World). This time however Mario has different outfits to wear (another feature that would also rollover to the more recent Mario Games). Outfits include a leaf  that lets Mario sprout a tail and ears and lets him fly. A P-wing that works like the leaf but lets him fly indefinitely. The frog suit that lets Mario swim faster, A hammer suit that gives him the same powers of the Hammer Brothers. And my personnel favorite the Tanooki Suit which lets Mario fly as if he is a raccoon but also lets him turn into a statue for a brief period. Well now on to the scoring part of the review.
Difficulty 9: I put it at a 9 mainly cause during the higher worlds and stages it does get pretty challenging. Especially during the first half of the final world.
Depth 10; I put it as a 10 cause I fell that with the stage layouts and the numerous power ups to the artwork it is pretty in depth. With each world having its own theme as well.
Story 7: I wish I could give the story higher then a 7. I really do. But I cannot because its the same story. Peach gets kidnapped by Bowser and Mario runs off like the hero he is.
Addictiveness 10: I put it as a 10 cause the game is addicting to play through. Really it is. When I had the games on my Nintendo system it was one that I always played more then anything else.
Sound 10: The sound in the game is perfect. Each world has its own sound and each of the different stage type have their own sound. To me it is a very pleasing game to listen to.
Graphics 10: To me this game looks like it would have been right at home on the Super Nintendo, But its not its on the Nintendo. And to me it pushes the limits of the NES. Not only that the game is just great to look at.
Overall 10: Overall I scored it with a 10. To me it is one of the best NES games ever made. Other then the semi lack of a story I cannot find any faults or things wrong with the game at all.
Final Thoughts: My final thoughts on the game are that I highly recommend it. It is one Mario game that I can't recommend enough. If you're knew to the NES or been a fan of the system for years there is really no excuse to play it for the first time. Or if you have played it before to go back and play it through again. So as I said before overall I have rated the game a 10 out of 10. Ask me to re rate it again at a later date and it still will be a 10 out of 10.

What a great game...   Mariobroidiot
Ah yes. Time to review a good game. The masterpiece of the platforming genre. What I liked about the game was it's nice creativity, cool and difficult levels, and memorable music. The game starts out as you trying to save a crap load of kings from there transformation into animals by the koopalings. Mario tries to collect all of the Magic Rods from the Koopalings to return the kings into there regular forms. Feels more like the Koopalings are stalling Mario I guess. But last but not least, after saving each of the Kings from there torment, Mario goes to save Peach from Bowser. It seems like a cliche story for the Mario series but well, it'll do. Throughout the first level of the game, you will see the nice touch of the level design and non-difficult parts. But, may you be warned, your only spending your time on the EASY levels. The levels will be increasingly difficult as you will be forced to destroy all the airships and thwomp the Koopa Kids . The game kind of refreshes the controls a bit from Super Mario Bros. 2. The game makes it easy to control Mario and manage him to turn and jump accurately to where you want him to go. It must be noted if you run too fast, you usually fall into a endless pit or get hit by a enemy, referring to you that this is not a Sonic game. The game introduces new power-ups such as the Tank suit/ Raccoon suit, Hammer Bro Suit and other power-ups that could be used to on the map screen. This game is noted to bring the Koopa Kids for the first time, only to mention that they would appear in the Super Mario Bros. 3 show, which they were very annoying -_-'. Bowser has 7 koopalings and all hide in ships in which Mario kicks they're *sses and save Peach, Once Again... from that annoying *** Bowser. Bowser really must be obsessed with Princess Peach, huh. So the game play is very simple, you jump through different platforms to get to the  end where you get a card at the end. The card fills a slot on the HUD  which if you collect three you get lives. Once each three slots have identical cards, you get a larger amount of lives. You get the most for Star cards. Basically let's call it a slot machine, just... uh... adventurous-style? Removing the flag was a step up to keep the game easier as it is pretty difficult in later levels. Now for the level design, you get to jump through 8 worlds to explore enjoyable terrain and environments. They all look pretty which all sets the mood for the Mario style. My favorite one is World 4 for it's nice creativity. Sorry to be off topic, but a similar type of world is in Super Mario Galaxy 2 :P. It's not hard to praise the difficulty of this game. If you found future Mario games too easy, you'd be so wrong about this one. The Levels in and after world 5 are notable for brutality, especially amongst gamers, like me, who aren't skilled at the game. Oh man Nintendo, I underestimated you for your incredibly easy games now but the games you made back than, Difficult!!! It's hard to even keep yourself alive in World 8. I forgot to mention it looks similar to hell. I guess Bowser is trying to be the...devil? Well it seems pretty canny to me. Anyways, the game keeps it refreshing as you get used to everything the game offers. It requires a little training if your trying to do a full head-on game, like I always do, but be warned, the game will offer you some difficult levels after World 4. The graphics of the game is something that I was amazed to see. Compare it to Super Mario Bros. 1 and 2. I loved all the design in the levels as it is a beauty to see the levels and especially the map screens. Mario looks better than ever, just that it's more noticable that he is a bit fatter than we thought from Super Mario Bros. 1 and 2 o.o. The visuals are noted to be one of the best ones on the NES mainly since it is a good progression of the graphics from other original games. I like how big each level is and it felt very good to explore through different levels. I like scavenging for 1-ups or trying to find the blocks to get to Coin Heaven which is very likable. Each level are large in size which is a good thing. I especially loved all the large underwater levels. Most of the other levels are just regular side-scrolling levels that each have different difficulty set. I found the hardest ones being the Athletic levels. I also forgot to mention the music in the game, it was totally awesome. Each and every one of them are memorable. I loved the Athletic theme and Coin Heaven theme. The sound effects don't get too much attention mainly since platformers don't need any sound effects for characters, well for the old generation to be exact. This is exactly a game you'd be addicted to. Why? Because the game is just pure fun in every level. I would always come back to play the game whenever I'm bored, just to experience a masterpiece's unique set of levels. Not only is each level innovative and creative but all fun in different ways. It's great to beat each Koopaling to there own demise and playing there rather difficult Airship Levels.
Verdict:
Super Mario Bros. 3 is a beautiful game and very enjoyable. If your into platformers, you have to try this game out. Not only was it really good, but it was considered to be the best Mario game in the world by many. You need to experience this game to find why many people say this.

Super Mario Bros. 3 Review   doonoo1000
This is my review of Super Mario Bros. 3. This is my view of this game (or opinion).
Graphics : 9
I picked nine because this game is old. It not bad. It great as a matter a fact. Nintendo really try they hardest to make good graphics. But they were limited because of what was out to create this game. Super Mario Bros. 3 had better graphics than # 1 and # 2. Plus, no characters glitches happen while playing this game.
Sound :  10
*Listening to song in my head* The sound is pitch perfect. I would have this song in my head for the longest. It make me want to play again and again. The soundtrack was a great development.  It was release in 1998 also. It is a website called "Mario Mayhem". You could download it there.
Addictive : 10
I am addictive to this game very much. My brothers and I love this game. I'm not very good but my brothers knew how to play this game very well. They grew up playing this. But I never seen there NES. Only Sega Genesis I think. Anyway, my brothers knew shortcuts and others ways to beating this game. As I said on sound review, I would also come back to play again and again. Now only way I can play is on vizzed or on my Wii.
Story : 8
The story is basically trying to save Princess Peach. You will get power-ups and bonuses throughout the game. You will also have help from Toad because he will tell you what happen to Princess Peach and others. You go through 8 stages or "worlds" as it is called. It is suspected of Bowser having Princess Peach. You have to go through 8 worlds to find her.
Depth : 10
As I said in the Story Review there are 8 worlds. This is long because there is no save feature to this game. At time this game can be very hard because of how long it is. 2 players would make this game a little easy so just encase you lose, you have a partner. Be you still would a very hard chance of winning.

Difficulty : 6
As I said, this game is hard. But it not that hard. Well, in the begin, it start off easy for beginners. Then, it get harder as you go by. This is why I say you should a two players. Specially one with experience that knows this game very well from the beginning to end. Like I said with my brothers knowing this game very well.
So my overall rating is 10 because of the how very good this game is. Also, it is one of the best Mario games ever made for NES, and SNES Also because of Super Mario All stars featuring games Super Mario Bros. 1, 2 and 3 and Super Mario World.

So this is my review of Super Mario Bros. 3. Hope you like this review very much. Thank You and Good bye Vizzed.

old school Mario fan must have   deadric8
I played this game for ages is nearly impossible to actually beat.once you start tho its very hard to put down.in this one Mario can 'fly'  for a short period of time if you get the tail wing which gives it a kinda different twist compared to previous version.the fire Mario is present in this one and you can earn various suits like the frogman and some others.rescuing princess peach is still very much part of the game.has many new level's and secrets.such as parts of stages you can walk behind or jump/fly over to get to 'portals' to go to different levels.I believe there is 9 level's in all with many different stages on each level.you have various types of weather in one your in a dessert and the sun chases your from the start of the stage to the end but you can get knock it out of it know how but it doesn't stay 'dead'.the sinking sands are once again back..the ghosts are back as well the ones where you look at them and they stop but you turn your back and they chase you.the flutes are also present in this game like many others..this is amongst the last of the '2d' mario's.requires good hand eye coordination and alot of patients.lava is also back so is bowser the turtles now with 'flying fish' on in the water world stages.there's in the cloud stages as well if you fail to make a jump you fall to your death, and jumping blocks are back as well, boomer rang throwers are also back in this edition.was great on the super Nintendo entertainment system graphics where as good as could be expected for this system.game comes with new sound tracks instead of repeating the sound tracks of the first 2 game.this game has a new addition the Tube levels I like to call them where you have to find your way up stages via various tubes and jumping devices.there's a new addition of a 'prize stage' where you select a chest that gives you a 'random items' there's a match game aswell that will give you coins and power ups and the frog suit.there's an ice level where you slide around everywhere it becomes quite hard to control mario on these stages especially if your trying to move quickly.there's new 'jumping snakes' fireball shooters a couple different boses but i wont spoil that.the floating ships stages are back and harder than ever with more shark firing cannons shooting faster than ever where you have to keep up as the screen is perpetually moving to the right and if you fall behind it will push you and squash you against a wall ouch!.there's more than the usually extra lives green mushrooms out there in places you might not expected such as in levels with tons of breakable boxes at the top of the stage you have to play your cards right to get to the top or have wings.overall a great game i would recommend to anyone who loves the older games

A great Mario game from Nintendo.   PurpleBlueRaven
This game is unbelievably amazing. Another adventure for Mario and Luigi. Bowser is also back with the 7 Koopalings, which Wendy O. Koopa is my favorite.
The graphics are good and that the levels look great with it. It might also have a level select for the first time in the Super Mario franchise. It also has great artwork in the manuals, in my opinion. I really care about much about it's design for the fact that it has an updated game menu screen.
The sound has great music. The worlds, levels and the toad houses have great music. I appreciate it of how wonderful it was composed. Mostly, i think that Ice Land would be my favorite music theme of the game.
The addictiveness is the reason why Super Mario Bros 3. Is one of the most best selling games for the NES. Playing it for appreciating of saving the princess is well wonderful the player is. You can also have a friend to help you with this game. Also, since it doesn't have a save screen, you might want to play this game until you beat Bowser.
The story is just like the first one only with a few differences. Bowser kidnaps the princess and the Koopalings steals the 7 wands from the 7 Mushroom World kings and then the Koopalings turn them into animals. They also have airships so that Mario or Luigi can get the 7 wands back from the Koopalings. Bowser also has Peach in a Dark World which I think is totally amazing.?
?The game also has fortresses so that you can defeat the Boom-Boom bosses
.
The depth of the game is very average depending on how you defeat a Mario game. It is kinda good if you defeat the game in like 2 hours.
The difficulty of the game is also very average depending of your video game skills and such.
Overall, this game is kinda good. I think it is swell for the game to have more enemies, more levels, more music, a level screen, 7 main bosses of the world and airships. It is likely to be better than any main Mario NES game.

Classics never die!   SunflowerGaming
Overall - 8/10: It's definitely one of my favorite adventure type video games. It's definitely one of the best Mario games out there. You have a lot of new goals to try out for and new "abilities" than the previous two mario games.
Graphics - 8/10: It's not as advanced as most of the games now a days, but it is very good for it's era. And the graphics make it realistic enough to want to play it over and over again. It's definitely good for it's time.
Sound - 7/10: It's not really like big with having that much of an "great" soundtrack, basically just simple music that can be repetitive at times but it's not really all that noticeable once you get into playing the game. It can sometimes be a little on the annoying side but like I said, once you play it, you won't even notice it at all.
Addictiveness - 9/10: It's very addicting in my opinion. Especially for any retro gamer. It is also fun and quite interactive. You can really get drawn into playing it for hours. Not much else needs to be said about it.
Story - 8/10: It actually does in fact have quite a good storyline for an adventure type of game. You have a definite objective, rather than just randomly doing adventures like some of the retro games seem to do.
Depth - 5/10: I don't really consider this to be a game of real depth, I don't know why, I just don't see that in it. So I had to give it a 5.
Difficulty - 8/10: It's not so hard that you can't beat it, but it does have it's moments where it can frustrate you. But with patience, you can get through the levels pretty easily. So it's about average I think in the difficulty area.

smb3 nes rewiew   rikivizzed
super mario bros 3 for nes is a very nice game! i play it many times and it makes me very happy and carefree (well, this version for nes system have a grafic and a sound very middling). also the story is not (for me) very "superb", but is pretty. it is this:
a morning, in the mushroom kingdom, the princess toadstool was kidhapping by king of koopa bowser.
super mario must saved her!  then,he travel until the bowser's castle for saved her. (comment: i think it was the feeling beetween mario and princess, but go forward). now i'll analyze aspects of sound, graphic, difficult of the game and eventually i make a final comment. but start with graphic:
the graphic of this game is not much clean, but is not even already bad.
sound:it was no bad,but it is a little disturbing.
difficult: the game is not very hard, though some passages are a little hards.
final comment: i think this game is eternal. i advise you to play this game, i'm sincere!

The best game in the Super Mario bros trilogy   SonicFan2013
Super Mario Bros. 3 is a great game and is the best in the Super Mario Bros. Trilogy! It has great music which returned in games like New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. My favorite levels were all of the airships and the final castle. Because of this, my overall rating was a 10!
Graphics: 9, The graphics is really good. It is better graphics than Super Mario Bros. And Super Mario Bros. 2. I think it was the best 8-bit
graphics in a Mario game.
Sound:10, The sound was great! It had great music. My favorite music is the airship music, the castle music, the ending music, and the credits music.
Addictiveness: 9, I would really want to play this game again. Like I said before, It was the best in the trilogy.
Story: 8, I think the story is that you have to turn all the kings of each world back to their normal self because the koopalings turned the kings to animals using their magic wands. Mario has to retrieve the magic wands to change the kings back. After turning the last king of Pipe Land back to normal, Bowser sends a letter to Mario saying that he kidnapped the princess. So Mario has to go save toadstool at Dark Land. After awhile, Mario finally saves the princess after defeating Bowser. Toadstool tells him a joke and laughs and says bye. Then the curtains go down and come back up. The credits tells the names of each world. And that's the end of the game.
Depth: 6, The size of the game is small. It is a short game too. I finished the game in just 2 days.
Difficulty: 6, It is easy, but hard at some levels. The bosses are easy too.
Ending: The game was great. It was a great experience to play an old school game. Thank you Vizzed! Hope everyone likes this review!

(sighs) Super Mario Bros. 3 Here are some facts about it
1.topped #1 in Screw attack's top 10 Mario games
Overall score:9.8
Graphics: 9
These graphics are some of the best for the NES The only thing I don't get is why Mario's overalls are BLACK and not BLUE
Sound:10
I love the sound affects, the music was catchier than Velcro (or how about Usher instead eh?)
The easter egg is that if you used a Warp Whistle, the tune got reused in Zelda:Ocarina of Time on the Nintendo 64 (the press start to play music)
Addictiveness:8
This game is pretty addictive and fun. With great power-ups such as the Tanooki suit, raccoon leaf, the Hammer bros. suit and that giant boot you can go in.
Story:6
The same story usually. Except that Bowser (a.k.a 'King Koopa' in japan) unleashed a new weapon....The Koopa kids!! (da da daaaaa)
Depth:10
loads of things to do! You can jump (of course!) Your can swim, fly, throw fireballs, throw hammers, and even turn into a statue!
Difficulty:7
This is actually pretty hard, unlike other Mario games.

Super Mario Bros 3 Review :)   claudevandog
Super Mario Bros 3 is considered one of the best games on the nes. And it is really great! Like most Mario games the princess has been kidnapped and its Mario's job to save her. But this time there's a lot of new worlds and power ups. There's a desert, a giant world, a cloud world, and lots of other worlds! For new power ups there's a tanooki suit, a frog suit, even a hammer bros suit!
GRAPHICS - 8: Maybe they could of been better but its a Mario game so it doesn't need the best graphics out there.
SOUND - 9: There are a lot of catchy songs in this game.
Addictiveness - 9: It's a really fun game that I would play again and if you beat it and start it again you get a bunch of p-wings.
STORY - 1: It's the same thing as every Mario game.
DEPTH - 8: It's a pretty long game with a lot of levels for an nes game.
DIFFICULTY - 6: It's not too hard at first but once you get to worlds 7 and 8 its just plain heck.
OVERALL - 9: This game is so good its 3 times better than the first one.
One minor complaint I have with the cartridge version of this game is that there is no way to save. I mean The Legend of Zelda could save so they could of at least make it have passwords.

it's mario 3, foo!!   bsnowotter
P.S.  (pre script) pay no attention to the scores, I selected them at random.  who needs scores for the legendary mario 3?
How do you make a mario game epic?  As epic as mario 2 was, it helps to not rip off a non-mario game and replace the main characters with mario characters (you know what you did, nintendo).
I love the introduction of the map for each world.  It gives the player the dual options of being completionist and clearing out the map or B-lining to the goal line.  Also, the introduction of the Koopa Kids gives each level a new boss character at the end.
I also love the toad houses, the roaming baddies, the item selections, and especially the suits.  the frog suit, the raccoon suit, and especially the tanooki and hammer bros suit.  brilliant.  also, using the tanooki suit and introducing it to america without any explanation or apology.  they are rabid for mario, who cares if it incorporates bizarre yet awesome cultural references.
Also, I love those miniboss castle levels.  And the 2 player mode with the brilliant mario bros arcade game reference.
i recommend mario 3 for 1 or 2 players, it's the bee's knees.

Super Mario Bros 3   ifrit1991
This game is very good overall.  The graphics are very good for its time compared to other NES video games. The graphics are very smooth for NES graphics.  The sound of the game is really good.  Its a has a good range of different sounds for each level you go through.  This game is very addictive because once you start playing this game it is hard for you to stop playing.  The story is excellent.  You go through eight worlds in total and at the end of the first seven worlds you must rescue each kings magical wands from the evil kooplings in order for the kings to turn back to normal and after you beat the seventh world you go to the eighth world to rescue Princess Peach from the evil clutches of mean old King Koopa. The depth of the game is awesome.  There is a lot of different enemies like goombas, koopas, lakitus, and many more.  The worlds are very in depth for the game's time also.  This game has a little bit of difficulty to it.  The hardest worlds I would say are world 6, world 7, and world 8.

THE Best Mario Game!   vhero
I'm not joking. Screw Attack (website) rated this #1 in the Top 10 Mario Games. So I'm going to do a review.
Graphics: 9. Mix in a bunch of new power-ups like the Tanooki, Frog Suit and the Raccoon Leaf, new items like the Warp Flute and the Power Wing (that's what its called :P), some great level design and you get THIS.
Sound: 10.  Every game has 4 things needed. Coding, graphics, music and a story. The best thing about this, has to be the music. Nintendo must of had 5 tons of ideas whilst making this. I mean, none of it has EVER been perfected by other brands like Sega (no offence, but I like Sega as well.) and Capcom.
Addictiveness: 10. You would spend even a YEAR playing this if your a HUGE Mario fan.
Story: 4. Just like all the others (Except the Super Mario Land series). Princess gets kidnapped by Bowser and Mario has to save her. Only difference is that is introduces the 7 Koopalings ( Ludwig Von Koopa, Lemmy Koopa, Roy Koopa, Iggy Koopa, Wendy O. Koopa, Morton Koopa Jr. and Larry Koopa.).
Depth: 10. This is bigger than Super Mario Bros.!
Difficulty: 6. This game may take you a month to beat. I never completed it (only because I keep getting Game Overs all the time. I know, I suck. Once though, I made it to the 2nd world (Yup, even the first world is hard.) .)
Overall: 10. Also, to celebrate the release of it, a movie was also made about it called The Wizard. (Its on Netflix :D) No Mario game can beat this. Not even Super Mario Galaxy 2.

3 Marios equal 3 princesses kidnapped by bowser?   Stevie 764
Bowser kidnapped princess peach again!? Don't worry, Mario and his sidekick brother luigi fight for the princess again.
The graphics are good, but why not a 10? This game started on the NES, but the SNES since the super nintendo is a 16-bit console, super nintendo managed to stick out for some graphical improvement.
There is good sound and music, but it isn't a 10 because the NES had tons of limitations for its time, once again, super nintendo toped it out.
It is likely that you will pick the game up again, but it is not a 10 because it is tricky to beat.
I like the story, but it is the same as super Mario bros 1 with the princess kidnapped again by bowser.
This game is tricky, the first couple of worlds are easy, but suddently, it gets pretty difficult especially on world 8 where it gets pratically insane with difficulty.
This is a long game, unfortuantly, it is very long to beat warplessly, there is no saves, no password system, or stage select code at all, so you have to beat it in 1 session, but there are secrets. ;)
Overall, it is very great, it features alot of things that was never introduced in the original Mario games on NES, such as diagonal slopes, sliding, new powerups such as the tanooki, hammer, kuribo's shoe, and more, it also featured a slower time, secret whistles, and more!
Overall Rating: A
I do love this game, it increased a lot of population of Mario fans around the world! :D This game can never be forgotten, but is has a unforgetable secret.

My story on the game   MegaSlair7029
My story on the game from probity a new chapter from Super Mario Bros 1, and 2. With more challenges, worlds, and the menu setup was great. I would have to give the difficulty a 8 because of I wasn't really good at the game at times but I can at least get to world 2 or 3 without saying I'm done and go play a different game, But I will have to say it does make it more of a challenge going through all 8 worlds without a save setup on it. And there was one weird thing when it first came out your thinking its guna be about saving princess peach but your mostly saving these kings all over this new world Mario was in. Mostly from seeing this game again its worth replaying this.

Super Mario Brothers 3   Blacksmith84
I'll never forget the first time I laid eyes on Super Mario Bros 3 as a fresh faced young child all of 4 years old,it was during the motion picture "The Wizard" and it was before it was available here in America and it became the must have game of 1990 and I had begged my Mom for it from the minute I had seen it. Luckily my birthday was coming up and it's all I had been asking for for months.
I still remember putting the game into the NES and booting it up. It all played out like a live play before my very eyes with exquisite music and so many rich colors that weren't always something we were so used to with the NES. Nintendo truly packed this game full of so many secrets,power-ups,levels,sub-games,and enemies that everything seemed like it was almost too much for my young head to comprehend. Slowly but surely as I grew older this game stayed as an all time classic for me and every once in awhile I pop this game back in just to experience it all over again. Now I just make sure to fully beat it without using the whistles so that I truly get to experience the game as the developers would have wanted us to..or at least what I feel they would have wanted us to. Plus when I was a kid one of the legends was that there was a World 9 if you beat all the levels in order without skipping any of the levels using clouds or whistles.
I dunno where I read or heard it but it was long before the internet where it could have been verified but it also represented a more simple and just plain innocent time where kids on the playground would share rumors about the latest NES game and you really could never verify if it was true unless you tried it yourself.
Maybe I'm looking back with rose tinted glasses but until the day I die I'll always look back on this game fondly and always love it. I hope you will love it as much as I do as well.

The Game that dominated the NES World   pacman1755
This game is what defined Mario in its prime era in the NES, this game is one of my personal favorites and I love playing it any time, very addicting. The story is the same as all of the standard Mario Games, save Peach from Bowser, so I give it a 8. Depth is somewhat normal, only 8 worlds like the original Super Mario Bros, Difficulty isnt too hard, gets harder when you progress. The Sound is great, mostly its Music, very memberable, and the graphics are standard for the NES era, but what it gives it a high variety is its effects and variety. Overall, this game is really good, I love playing this, and I suggest playing this in the RGR right now! Happy Gaming! :)

super mario brothers 3   ddjj701

Well the game is very good, its a Mario game that should be remembered forever. The game is really fun to play and has a grate effect on the Mario story. The graphics are normal for a nes game but you wont even think about the game looks while fighting koopas and grombas on your way to find the princes, the worlds get harder but that's nothing to stop you go on you can do it. If you die you are saved by a 1up, you start at the beginning of the world your on if you die with 0 1ups left, you get 1ups every 100 coins or a 1upshroom (green mushroom like thing). The game isn't that hard but it gets harder every world it gets so hard that you could lose 99 lives on world 8, the story is plumbers (Mario p1 and Luigi p2 if on 2 player mode) on an adventure to save the princes named peach but to do that you need to journey to browsers castle and one again eliminate him to save the princes. You most likely wont want to quit in till you beat the game, you don't haft to beat all the worlds you can use the warp whistle to warp to other worlds. If your good you can beat it abit quick but not that quick. Some of the fun things about the game is the fun levels and the challenges, one level the sun tryes to kill you, also beware of boos they stop if you face them but if theirs some behind you better be careful, and don't forgot those week grombas that where mentioned earlier hit them with a fire, with you tail, a koopa shell, or just jump on them, there the weakest enemies in the game. This game might be the best nes game ever. There a hole lot of other things in the game like toad spaces that you can get items from.

Super Mario Bros. 3 Review   Marcmoney
Super Mario Bros. 3 is one of the best-known classic games in the world.  It happens to be very popular in Super Mario series.  I highly recommend getting this game if you hadn't played it before.  The game play is just like the same as in Super Mario Bros. 1 and 2.  The story is great.  This is one of the coolest games I have played in a long time. :) I have played this game and beaten this game about 5 times and I know the secrets and I know where all the flutes are. :P Again, I recommend getting this game, it is a blasting blow of fun.

Fun Classic game.   grantjking14
Super Mario Bros. 3 was an instant classic when it hit the NES in the '90s. This game once again has Princess Peach kidnapped by the ever menacing Bowser. There are some excellent new features in this game such as the frog and tanooki suit. It also lets you choose what level you want to play with a convenient map. This game also includes Toad Houses along your journey in which a kind toad will donate an item to your cause. The tanooki suit will allow Mario to fly for a short period of time. The frog suit lets him jump higher and farther and swim faster. Of course the classic fire flower and super mushroom have returned to aid Mario for a third time. Have fun on this classic adventure platformer game.

The Best NES Game!   claytune
I've decided to try writing a shorter review for once cause I often run into the issue of not wanting to let myself review older games due to not being able to formulate nearly the same amount of words that I can for games that came out in my lifetime so I'll give this style a shot for once.
Graphics 7/10 -
Super Mario Bros 3 is a major upgrade sprite-wise from the first two Mario games everything just looks better and more thought out.
Sound 6/10 -
The sound effects are great though I do find most of the soundtrack in this game on the more forgettable side of Mario music but when a good song plays you will be humming it for days on end.
Addictive 7/10 -
One of the first things you'll notice if you die a lot at older Mario games is that unlike the first game you can rest easy knowing you won't have to start the entire game over if you get a game over you'll simply go back to the start of a world. Knowing that and the number of powerups you get, not to mention the fact you can now store powerups for later thanks to toad houses makes this game fun to experiment with different powerups to see if it makes certain levels easier or even harder if you wanna challenge yourself.
Story 4/10 -
In a twist on the normal Mario storytelling, you start the game not trying to save Peach but instead trying to save the kings of the different lands you travel to.
Depth 8/10 -
Without question the best thing Super Mario Bros 3 does is depth it's one of the first games to have a world map which makes everything instantly feel more connected and then you have the many secrets the game hides waiting for you to discover.
Difficulty 7/10 -
This game can be really hard at times you don't expect and easy way too late in the game all at the same time. When the game wants to challenge you it will and you better hope you've been keeping your life count up or you may end up in a situation where you beat a really hard level with almost no lives left just to die and go back to the start of a world and be stuck having to do said level again.
Overall 7.5/10 -
I feel like this review isn't going to be the most positive thing I put out on the site but I do think Mario 3 hasn't aged the best of the 2D Mario games after all these years but it still is a classic game that I would easily recommend if you're used to the old school NES game difficulty.

Super Mario Bros 3 Cheat Codes

28 P-Wings

Complete the game and watch the ending. Now start a new game. You got 28 P-Wings!

Fight Bowser With No Fireballs

In Bowsers castle at the end of the game, it is possible to make it so he DOES NOT SPIT FIRE AT YOU. This trick is easy and only requires getting to world 8 with a P-wing. First off, use your P-wing on the map before entering the Final Castle. YOU MUST GET TO BOWSER INTACT. If you get to the Bowser fight room and the Bricks that he smashes through are not flush with the rest of the floor, then you are in the wrong room. Now, when you reach Bowsers room, FLY straight up and to the left. You will be able to walk on a wall above the screen. Drop down on the other side. You will be in another room to Fight Bowser in. When you drop, you will be on a door that opens to the princess. Ignore this room and DO NOT GO TOO FAR TO THE LEFT. If you do, you will have to fight Bowser and he will still have his Fire Balls. Fly back over the wall to the first room you were in and start the Bowser fight. He will still throw his head back and make the sound of spitting fire, but nothing will come out.

Infinite 1-Ups

Get to World 1-2 as Raccoon Mario, with the tail. Climb the hill at the beginning and jump over the horizontal pipe. Stand there for a bit and a whole bunch of Goombas will start walking out of the pipe. Wait for 2-3 of them to come out of the pipe, then jump ontop of one and HOLD A to fly high into the air. Now that you are in the air, use your tail to slowly glide down from the air. On you landing, be sure to land on a second Goomba. Repeat this process for as long as you can. Eventually, the points you get for hitting each Goomba will turn into extra lives. This can be done for as long as you desire to do so.

Make player 'hide' behind scenery

To ''hide'' behind scenery, simply hold down for a couple seconds while standing on a white block. Then your player can ''hide'' behind scenery for about thirty seconds.

Morph a wandering hammer brother into a treasure ship.

To turn a wandering hammer brother (the ones that walk about on the world map) into a white ship full of coins, collect a number of coins that is a multiple of 11. Make the tens digit in your score match the multiple of 11. Stop the timer at the end of the stage that you are playing in on an even number.

One combination would be: 11 coins, 9,310 as your score, and the timer at 104. This only works in worlds 1, 3, 5, and 6.

See a different Thank You letter from the King

Get through an airship and defeat the boss as a frog, Hammer Mario, or Tannooki, and you'll receive a letter from the King that reads a little differently.

To get the N-Spade Card Game

To get the N-Spade card game to appear on the World Map. You must do gain 80,000 points as one player, and successfully beat the stage that you broke the 80,000 points with.

Warp to Level 8

You could just use the warp whistle at level 7...

If you want to go straight to level 8, you must use a Warp Whistle to proceed to the Warp Zone, then use another warp whistle IN THE WARP ZONE. You will be transported to the level 8 pipe at the bottom of the screen.

Warp Whistle Locations

Level 1-3
Find the white block near the end and crouch on to of it for 5 seconds. Then proceed to the goal, and go behind it. You will find a Mushroom house with a Whistle.

Level 1 Fortress
Fly over the top of the level when you find the first door with your raccoon powers, and find a hidden door at the far right on the ceiling. It leads to a warp whistle

Level 2 Hammer Brother
Get the Hammer from one of the Hammer Brothers here and use it to destroy the rock at the upper right corner of the Level 2 Map. Then engage the hammer brother on the other side. You should get a chest with a Warp Whistle.

White Mushroom Houses

If you get enough coins in a certain course, you can get a White Mushroom House!

A White Mushroom House in worlds 1,3,5,7 have P Wings
A White Mushroom House in worlds 2,4,6 have Anchors

Levels and required coins:

1-4 (44 coins)
2-2 (30 coins)
3-8 (42? coins)
4-2 (22 coins)
5-5 (28 coins)
6-7 (78 coins)
7-2 (42? coins)
