Well, the title says it all, today marks the exact day that, 4 years ago, I became a member here on Vizzed! I've sure had my ups and downs so let me tell a bit about myself and my time here on Vizzed.

When I was very young, the only computergames I knew were Super Mario Bros and Patience on the computer. In fact, I played Patience all the time (and sometimes Minesweeper) and even though I forgot this myself my mom sometimes says that I once helped one of my teachers with the game! When I was around six, a boy showed me a site full of games! Not a site like this, but a site with more casual games. I started trying all kinds of new games and in fact I once had to make a drawing and instead I played games so the teacher wasn't too happy with me.

When I got older I became more and more interested with Nintendo games, I had several friends who had a Nintendo DS and practically my big dream was getting one as well. But since I didn't have enough money and my mom didn't want to buy one I tried all kinds of things like matches and drawing contests and no success. But when my birthday in 2009 came I desperately asked my mom if she could buy me one and my mom did: She bought me a brand new Nintendo DSI. I was overjoyed and when we went to a big shopping department I myself bought New Super Mario Bros, since this was the game I always wanted to get as soon as I would have a DS after I had seen videos of the game. My mom also bought Scribblenauts which she would give me later on at a feast called Sinterklaas (a bit similar to Christmas). 

With this game my interest for Nintendo games grew more and more. When I found out that when you typed in terms on Google like 'play mario online' you could find sites where they had games like Super Mario Bros 3 and Wario Land II. One of those sites was PlayR, a site that many people on Vizzed probably know as well because just like Vizzed it has tons of Gameboy (Color) games. Around the same time I found a video of Youtube about the game Hamtaro Ham Hams Unite and since I found it very interesting I played this game on PlayR as well. PlayR was back then very important for me and it still is.

In 2009 the game Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story came out. I thought it was the best game ever when I saw videos of it on Youtube and wanted to get it but again money was an issue for me (and asking my mom didn't help either unfortunately). But when I did some research I found out there was a Gameboy Advance predecessor and when I did more research I found out that some sites like Vizzed had this wonderful game! On Vizzed I also discovered the sequel of the Hamtaro game I had played on PlayR. So I really wanted to join Vizzed, but my mom thought that if I would download the plugin I would get all kinds of virusses. After asking several times she finally agreed and I downloaded the plugin and started playing these games and many other kinds of games.

For about 2-2.5 years all I did was gaming. I knew about the forums but wasn't interested at all. But since the people in the game chatted now and then I wanted to talk a bit as well. At first I looked up things on Bulbapedia when people asked stuff as 'where can you get Rock Smash?' and later on I started talking more and more. This is also how I made my first friend on here. 

At some point I became a normal member instead of the newbie I was for a long time. I discovered that since I had made enough posts about retro game room problems I finally had made enough posts to be a normal member as well. With this my interest for the forums grew and I slowly started to post more and more. I was really proud when I made 100 posts and posted more and more. Becoming a trusted member back then was my goal which I have achieved as you can see now, although I was getting worried at some point that people didn't like me and my posts enough to be a trusted member. But after some time I learned that the post system was broken for a long time and when it was repeared me and some other members obtained trust points like crazy and became all trusted members in a week or something.

Since then, I have done various things. I have actively competed in the Summer TdV which was a lot of fun and I also made many friends this way. I once have made a guide for a part of Robopon for the GBC which was something that I had been working on for a very long time, in fact so long that I have huge doubts if I ever will make more parts. I also have made various reviews because I was getting a bit bored of posts and when I told zanderlex that I wasn't sure if should make a review he said something like 'why not make one? I only need 30 mins to make one' (30 minutes zander? I take almost an hour ) so I started making more reviews and now I'm one of the more well known reviewers around here, and my goal is to become a staff reviewer but I know that a lot of other people want it as well so it's definitely not something easy.

So that's a bit about me and how I came here and what I have done. I had a great time but it wouldn't be possible with all my friends, so I'm going to thank all of them, but I'm going to do it in groups or this is getting way too huge since my friends list is way too long (and it's already late at the moment so I don't have a lot of time). Don't feel offended if you're not high on this long list, since I don't have a good idea how I should make this list so it's pretty rushed.

You three are probably the most influental people for me here on Vizzed. Anthony, you were my very first friend and one of the main reasons I became more interested in talking with people here. Monsi, you're my very best friend here and a fellow Dutch person and we have had a lot of fun here. Enii, even though there was I time I was a bad friend for you I'm happy that things are going a bit better now and that you talk honestly with me again.

You're all guys and gals around my age and that's why we can relate in many things. User, you're very original and a great reviewer. Gamin', you have had a lot of summon fails but you don't mind at all and we can talk about a lot of stuff. Yushee, you're a crazy guy sometimes but also very funny and definitely the biggest Hamtaro fan ever. Faded, you're a bum and a great local, is that even possible? GB, you're very young but also very smart and you aren't afraid to say what's on your mind. Gingy, you're not only an amazing artist but also an amazing friend and chatter. Bara, although you have some enemies here on Vizzed I know that you're a great friend and you also have such an interesting history here on Vizzed. mohammed, even though you're pretty busy as you and I have had a lot of fun from time to time and you're pretty chilled out. Mudkip, you're just like me a great Inazuma Eleven fan and also a mature and nice person. green, you're very funny and upbeat all the time, even though DeathMelon is around the corner! Zlinqx, you a derp and I r8  ur b8 8/8 since you're a good reviewer and friend. Pac, even though you have some issues since life is not always easy on you, you're very optimistic and you keep going on. Popeye, you do all kinds of random stuff here but you're a great guy. Boxia, you're the kind of box-like friend that many people could get used to. patar, as a huge Goomy lover you have shown that you're not only very funny but also mature, which is important. paper, you're funny and we had a fun time when we played the Mafia game and you and I were some of the best neighbours.

You're friends from all kinds of ages and personalities and you're friends that I may have less time spent with than others, but you're still valuable to me! Spleen, even though we talk more on Facebook than on here, I hope that you're doing well because at the time we became friends you were going through a tough time. cnw, your 4th year anniversary is as well today since we both joined at the same day! You're very nice and you can draw pretty good as well. sop, even though you have left I had a great time with you since you have proven that you're able to come with good arguments to build your opinion and you easily say and do anything that's on your mind. supernerd, you're a very funny guy and I hope your life outside Vizzed is going better. Laian, as a French guide writer you also do a good job as friend and you're into Inazuma Eleven as well. Furret, even though you can speak Dutch you always prefer to talk English which has surprised me a bit but you're also smart and you always try to help out as much as possible. Aria, we had a great time in the chatroom and I know how much you love to stalk play as well. ghost, you're very mature and nice and you are the kind of person who can easily become friends with anyone. deg, even though we haven't talked in some time now you're still very active and you make some great stories. mourin, just like with deg we haven't talked in a while but we had a lot of fun in the chatroom together with sop. maguc, I know that you have many questions about yourself and your life but nevertheless you make the best of it and talk with many people here. Sword, your controversial opinion is something that people can hardly understand sometimes you're more than that and you have a great love for videogames as shown in your threads. EM, I think there's not any person on here who likes you. You have befriended, helped and talked with so many people here that almost everybody knows you. Mewtwo, you're very active on the interwebz but you still have enough time to hang around here and spend time with me and your other friends. sonic, you're not only a really motivated reviewer but also a great friend when it comes to things like talking about games.

Just like the group above you're all kinds of people who I really can't compare, which is what makes you good friends. Postman, you're very wise and you also are a guy to have good conversations with. Makalya, I love you <3 Kuti, you're just not cute but also nice and funny. Dylan, you're one of the guys on here who has talked about all kinds of stuff which makes you a great guy to talk with. Philip, at first you looked like any villain but now I look past that and also see a great and original friend. kramer, you're one of the most devoted staff members and also a smart person. Destifen, we had a lot of fun with the hangman games, too bad you left. kirb, even though you have had a tough time here on Vizzed and in real life you keep your head up and you still are a good friend. Saph, you are by no doubt one of the craziest members on here along with guys like Yushee and Faded but you're luckily very nice as well. Ordannons, as a fellow Dutch person who is pretty active here you have shown that you make great posts and great conversations. bigger, when I first met you I found you incredibly smart, and I still find you that, keep up those brains! jakob, you're supernice and also a clever guy. Totts, you had a hard time on here once but you have become a trusted and respected member again and that's for a a reason: Great posts and a good personality. Un, even though it looked like you were against Vizzed you have shown that you really liked Vizzed and that you were a funny guy as well. thing, even though you still have a bit of a reputation on here you also have good sides and you have a big motivation for still being so active here all the time.

You're all amazing guys and I would want to say something personally to all of you but the truth is that I either haven't talked with you a lot, talked with you for a long time or all that I can say is that you're just great guys, that I liked to talk with all of you and that some of you have som pretty difficult usernames. I hope you can understand my decision.


Now that I have thanked my friends there are some people who aren't on my friends list yet they still make Vizzed important and/or they made my time here important, so I want to say a few things to some people. Feel free to tell something about me or to give feedback but if you don't feel the need to reply, you don't have to, I'm happy as long as you have read it.

legacyme3 : You're one of the most famous people here on Vizzed and that's since you're such a particular person. You're a kind person and you're helpful but on the same side you can be very crazy and even a bit mean sometimes since you're always honest and that fascinates me. Anyhow, you're one of the many faces and people who define Vizzed and you also take good care of Innocent Town.

sonicmcmuffin : As one of the richest (in terms of viz) and most active persons on Vizzed you definitely have gained a strange reputation. There are a lot of people who see you as a mean person and although I can agree to that to a certain point, many of these times you decided that being honest would be better than talking behind persons their back. For someone with such a reputation it might be weird to hear that you're such a big MLP fan but you keep those things well apart and besides your whole profile and layout it's not that noticable most of the time.

Eirinn : You're a very good mod and you're also a very nice guy. You're always very positive and I can see that in your posts as well, because every time I read them they make me a bit happier!

SUX2BU : Even though you made me cry your username isn't right (Aw damn who am I kidding)  you're a really kind person and you like Gouda cheese, how awesome is that? I also find it funny to see you talking with Yushee on here since you have those funny brother-sister talks.

NintendoFanKimmy : I wasn't very surprised when I heard you're green his nephew, since you share many interests. You're also a good computer drawer and although you can be a silly person sometimes, you can be mature as well.

warmaker : Even though you probably heard this a billion times, I'm going to say it again: You come with great advice and you really want to help people if you want. There are some occasions where you make posts where you don't give advice but all in all, I think a lot of people heard about your great advice.

thephantombrain : As one of the somewhat older members on this site, you have a fresh view and you're very original. Still, you're also a nice guy to talk with in casual threads and that's something not everybody can do.

mrfe : merf, you're almost as fabulous as PewDiePie, it's a miracle! All jokes aside, you're one of the funniest and most easiest guys on the site, which is also one of the reasons that many people like you. When things look boring at first, you sometimes give a funny yet simple twist to them as well, which is funny to see.

zanderlex : You're a strange guy at first glance, but once I got to know you better you're a swell guy. You're very active and you take your staff job very serious, and besides that you're very competitive in terms of posts. Luckily enough, not too much since you still have a lot of time to talk with many people here including me.


Well, that's it for this short list of people. Or well, last but not least, David of course. Yeah, it's unoriginal and a bit obvious I put you in here, but I want to thank you for your hard work and the time you put in Vizzed. I dunno if you will see this but if you do, then I feel a bit honoured.

So, what will the future bring for me? I have several goals here on Vizzed like these:
-Becoming a staff reviewer
-Seriously competing in another TdV
-Stay around for another year

And outside Vizzed my goals kinda are:
-To get even better grades (then I can get a Wii!)
-To achieve my black belt in taekwondo
-Trying to become a lifesaver

Congratz on reaching the 4 year milestone! I hope that you achieve all of your goals you listed. I absolutely love your reviews and I think you're an incredible user. I hope you'll be on here for more years to come!

Seriously though. Nobody that isn't like EideticMemory really found this place to do anything other than play games. Most people spend the first little or long while on Vizzed wondering if they are even interested in the forum. Of the users on the site who are here daily, only a smattering of them make the front page list as someone who has posted.

I spent the first year or so just playing one file on Pokémon Silver. I'd say the experience of being primarily a Newbie gamer is quite typical for a Vizzed member. The first time I ventured into the Vizzed forum I told myself that I'd never bother wasting time doing anything other than looking at stuff and not participating at all. Funny how you aspire to enter one little contest a la Pokémon Emerald 386 and you find your interest in being heard and noticed deepen to a subtle degree. I am just about ruined of my old pure gamer ways and I feel like I don't ever want to quit interacting with people online. Online personalities of people I've made contact with are now very important to me.

So my experience and many others are very similar to yours. We are quite alike, you and I. Subtly different of course. You keep setting newer, loftier forum-related goals for yourself which is quite admirable. I really like that about you. I rarely do that of course but we aren't exactly motivated by the same things.

You once said, "I want to become friends with everyone on Vizzed!"

I remember it quite well. I loved that attitude and so I asked if we could be friends. Your enthusiasm is the most infectious I have experienced here. I still can't help but feel emboldened by the proclamations you make in your threads. It was wonderful of you to summon us all here for the party. Let's bust out the bubbly pal!

Better grades? Wii hoo!

So many great games for Wii. Mario Kart Wii is pretty awesome. Super Mario Galaxy 1/2 are pretty incredible in design and gameplay. TLoZ: Skyward Sword has those sweet, sweet motion controls. Wii Sports/WS Resort are both a great and uplifting way to unwind and spend time with family/friends. Super Paper Mario has a great story and a fantastically executed concept. Super Smash Bros. Brawl has a ton of content and characters and an interesting story mode. I've heard Zack and Wiki is fun, but I'm not sure how cheaply you can find that. Gamestop has it for $3 in the US, but it can be hard to find. Outside of Gamestop...not so cheap. Fluidity is fantastic, I've heard (it's a downloadable title). I have Fluidity: Spin Cycle, and have enjoyed it quite a bit. Another title, Art of Balance, is supposed to be fantastic. I've tried the demo of Art of Balance: Touch! (a 3DS game with the same concept), and it was brilliant.

This must the first time that I have seen such a milestone. I like how you changed your post background into a party celebration. Are all of those people supposed to represent the Vizzed Community? I thank you for being such a helpful and positive person on Vizzed regardless of what happens. Also thanks for everything, my foreign friend! I hope that you can achieve on your goals and overcome more on what lies ahead.

Nice that you remembered me. If we don't talk that much, it's because I ussualy profile my friends as I see them online. (I think that you and I are in much different time zones?)

Plus I've been working lately. A lot. Very dry winter and Summer. I only got 6 weeks off in a row, was expecting a lot more, but oh well, the money is nice.

My occupation is a roofer, so it really is dependent upon the whether, otherwise I'd be browsing the place for who knows how many hours.

But anyways, thanks for the recognition. I hope you have fun staying here. I know I'm having a lot more fun with my RP. Maybe I can get you into that, or did you already say that RPs aren't your thing?
