Most of the admins have talked about resetting the following worlds:

Genrody
Greenerous
Galyra
Nether and End, both versions
Vizzed Ville - All claims where the owner hasn't logged in for 100 days or more will have their claims removed. Any under that timeframe will be asked if they want to keep their plots.

The reason why we want to do this is because it's been ages, and some people haven't been on the server for nearly 2 years. We want to really clean it up, and give it - for the most part - a fresh start.

We plan to re-purpose Genrody into a full PvP world where there is no law, for the more destructive types of players that might feel a little confined to the no griefing rule.

Of course, this means all the builds in the survival worlds will be gone, which is why I'm running this poll. Should this reset happen?

I retract my statement. I'm against this idea to a certain extent, I'll just wait for the 1.11 world to come out, or we could just add a new world for 1.10.

I disagree with all of this. I'll explain why later.

No. If you want to "reset", build a new server and make it the default/main server, and keep the old worlds as is.

I think, historically, it's important to hold on to the past.

Plus, I logged in recently, but what if I hadn't? Builds I'd put a lot of time into would be gone. That would cause me to never want to use the server again, if like now, I had logged in, to see how things had changed.

Not a fan of anyone losing work, even if they no longer use the server.

I agree with leggy. Heck, I haven't been on in a year for a good reason yet I spent 200,000 Viz on Just two of my best builds. It would be a waste for numerous reasons to let it all go.

I honestly don't really care about what happens to Vizzed Ville. It can stay or go for all I care. I understand wanting it to stay though.

However, I would love to see a new survival world connected to the nether and end only and keeping the rest of the map separate.

I'm all for a clean reset but please keep my nether the same; I poured a lot of hours to fix it up and make it look nice; Don't take it away from me I'm the only one who cares about it an will ever visit it so leave my home alone please....


Also I don't really understand why VizVille has to change, It's just fine having all the houses there, they are really neat and makes it feel more homey and alive in the server even if it's a ghost town..


The rest I don't really care about; as long as I get my PvP I'm happy; and I can draw in more people to play on it over time. I'm willing to cut my losses on greenerous.

I think I have to go against this for the same reasons explained by the Vizzed folks. There are beautiful creations that people don't really want to see disappear forever and, like zander and leggy said, people will lose motivation and eventually stop logging on the server

Zircron Swift : I can see clearing the survival world/worlds to completely re-stock the overly mined land of resources we no doubt all still desperately need, but clearing the main-stay world where most people create their major creations (even if they are inactive, after all, real life comes first.) will cause many people to become deterred from joining the server again, since much of what they do will no longer be around. And let's face it, even if the main realm needs to be cleaned up of old equipment... they still are memorials to those that do not play anymore. I'd say just repopulate/regenerate the survival world, but keep the creative/building world the way it started. Lest we have an uproar of unhappy minecrafters.

I agree with :legacyme3 building a new server or something like that while preserving the old one sounds like a good idea.

I have been away for a while, just moved to another apartment, unfortunately I cannot get a good deal on internet service at my current address, otherwise I would have logged in sooner. In reference to resetting the worlds, I have quite a bit of "loot" gathered from my many hours of play time and would love the chance to get back on and clean up my claims before anything drastic happens.  I will be coming back as soon as I can get hooked up so please don't remove my items, if it's not already too late.

There are a few reasons why I think it's a bad idea to remove all claims of owners who haven't logged in for more than 100 days.

1. A lot of users go through phases. They'll use the server actively for days and then go absent for months at a time. I've gone more than 100 days without visiting the server before and I know a lot of others have as well.

2. One of the things that makes the server feel like home are the builds that you're familiar with seeing. No one's work should be removed (unless it really sucks), they are what give the server personality and make it unique.

3. A while ago, a server admin removed a ton of claims from Vizzed Ville and guess what? Barely anyone purchased any of the new empty lots resulting into Vizzed Ville looking kinda bare and lonely. It use to have a populated look but now it's just boring.


I also don't like the idea of doing a fresh start on Genrody, Greenerous and Galyra. First of all, what's the point? Secondly, wouldn't it just make more sense to start new worlds all together and just leave those as archived worlds? I like the idea of those worlds still being accessible because there's going to be at least a few users who would like to revisit those worlds someday either for nostalgia, for resources or to continue something that they started.

Yeah, resetting the server seems pointless to do. Let's keep the worlds and archive them so people can visit them for old times sake but create new worlds.

Davideo7 : I agree about Vizzed Ville. There should have been specific builds being removed and replaced by someone who actually wanted to build something and not just a random removal of builds.

As for the survival worlds - having 3 (and probably 4 soon) actually separates people too much. Genrody was fun, greenerous was okay and galrya has been horrible because the number of survival worlds has grown each time. "Archive" them somehow but don't make them playable anymore in connection to the rest of the server. Having only 1 survival world is ideal.

Davideo7 : On reflection, I agree with all the points on Vizzed Ville, adding in that I agree with Geeo's idea of giving old claims to people that actually want them and moving the old builds somewhere safe.

I don't however agree with the survival worlds. At first the reset was really just so resources would be replenished and not every cavern near spawn being mined out completely. This was complained about with the Nether recently. Having them archived in some way is a fantastic idea, but we need to have only one playable survival world. People grow attached to their builds on one world, and when a new one comes out, they don't really want to move on from it, and the survival community is fractured because of it.

geeogree : What we could do with those survival worlds is make it so that no one has permission to do anything in those worlds. In other words, users would no longer have the ability to obtain resources. However, everyone would have Creative powers in those worlds so that they can navigate it more quickly in order to see what was created.

Davideo7 : That sounds good. However I wouldn't know how to implement that without installing a plugin of sorts. The simplest way would be to just lock the old survival worlds in adventure mode. The flying would be really neat to showcase the world, however.

Zircron Swift : I'd probably be able to figure something out. Can users fly in adventure mode? I'm not all that familiar with it. What about Spectator mode?

Davideo7 : Spectator mode might be the best option, actually. It does enable you to fly anywhere, interact with chests and dispensers without being able to take items out, and you can't break or place any blocks. It's perfect.
