For the past few years, I've hosted various themed Mario Paint competitions. While a lot of users have drawn some great stuff, the works of Dahaka are definite masterpieces. I wanted to share with everyone his incredible talent because he definitely deserves more recognition for it.

Mario Paint is a game with basic drawing capabilities released in 1992 for the Super Nintendo. Keep that in mind while you look at the below video and drawings. Not only are they the best artwork I've ever seen created in Mario Paint but some of his art looks better than what you'd see in most games from the 16-bit era (seriously, some of it looks too good to have been made on the SNES). If he was an adult during that time period, he most definitely would've had a job in game graphic design.

I'm going to show off everything that he's drawn in Mario Paint along with a full demonstration video (if available) as proof that he created this stuff in Mario Paint. But first, here's a short video I put together showing off his creations with timelapses:

What's perhaps most impressive about these (to me) is the massive amount of improvement that's apparent over time. While none of the drawings listed are bad by any means, the more recent ones are incredibly well done. My personal favorite is "A Teardrop for a Miss," though I also greatly enjoy "Our Ray of Hope." It's also remarkable how much precision is needed, and how much time it took for each of these pieces.

Nksor : You're completely right. Every year he seems to get better and outdo what he did the previous year. I can't wait to see what he comes up with this Christmas.

I got a notification for the video this morning and wow! They are amazing. I've never played this game but, I am sure going to give it a try now. Very talented! They all look amazing.

I'm just completely blown away by the quality of these art pieces. It's crazy to think that they were made on Mario Paint. Kudos to Dahaka for all the hard work put into these. I can only imagine what else he might come up with in the future.

That's what you call Dedication at it's finest.

Even with something like MS Paint I can't draw that dang good.

These are just beautiful drawings and I think it really shows how Dahaka stands out .


If anything,  I'd probably find a way to tell all the folks at Deviantart about this stuff because it's done on a 16 bit program not Adobe Photoshop lol.

Amazing and anger inducing at the same time. 
As much as I love these, it's a  reminder that I will never win a Mario paint contest.

jlove92 : Once you play it, you'll quickly realize how hard it is to draw anything nearly as impressive as what Dahaka made.

Silverclaw454 : His next work will probably come from next month's Christmas competition and then after that, we gotta wait 10+ months to see him draw something again. His Christmas stuff is actually among my favorite work of his.

Yeah, nobody on the planet is as great at drawing on Mario Paint as Dahaka is. He definitely earned this tribute.

I couldn't agree more. Its a real gift to have something such as that talent. People like him you don't always find in the world so what he does is truly unique. Its why he is who he is. He loves to draw, and has passion for it we can all see from the submissions he does for any competitions he participates in.

Davideo7 : That must of been pretty challenging for Dahaka to do because one wrong hit on that joystick can cause some issues. I think a lot of trial and error took place while carefully crafting these beautiful masterpieces which are really awesome!

Davideo7 : Oh David!, I'm truly truly sorry for replying this thread so late and for missing the Mario Paint Christmas contest  My excuse is that since November my Internet service went down and until this day I was able to enter again.

Now about this tribute, really I have no words to describe how I feel, this overwhelm me, I mean, I make my drawings the best I can, it's fun and all a pleasure make them, but you don't owe me anything, my reward is be able to submit them to the contests. So, the least I can say is thank you so much for this treatment, really

Those paintings looks super cool, especially the pokemons and megaman one, and the final fantasy drawing looks clean af, i wish i can print those and hang em in my room, i really dig those drawings, great job Dahaka, seriously, amazing stuff.

WOAH. I didn't even know it was possible to paint these kinds of pictures in Mario Paint. I love them all so much. I can hardly imagine the time and dedication it must take to make these. If you ever see him around, make sure to let him know how much we appreciate his work.

I am... Well, speechless. I really like the images which you put up, and... Well, I never could had thought Mario Paint could even make them myself. And I like how Crash got some love as well.
