Winter 2016 Vizzed Minecraft Server Competition
See who can build the best structure on the Vizzed server
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=91920

You can earn up to US $100 or 200,000 Viz in the above competition!

On Monday, 2/29/2016, from 4 - 8 PM (central time zone) we'll all be listening to and rating the songs submitted to the Nintendo NES Music Competition. Shortly before each song finishes, I'll give users a link to where they can rate each song and the song submitters get points for any rating above a 3 (out of 5).

I will be hosting this event on my Twitch channel and I'll be giving away a total of 250,000 Viz and $250 worth of Steam Games. The more songs you rate, the higher your chances are of winning a raffle after the stream is over. Each rating you make during the stream is basically another entry in the raffle.

This music competition and all future music competition and streams will be completely different than the ones before this so if you haven't checked out a music stream in a while, before sure to check this one out since it'll be handled a lot differently.

The Java Emulated games in the Retro Game Room had been down since a server migration that took place about 2 1/2 months ago but now all of these systems are back up.

The following systems have Java (or Flash) emulators available:
-Nintendo NES
-Super Nintendo (Flash)
-Game Boy
-Game Boy Color
-Sega Master System
-Sega Game Gear
-Atari 2600
-Commodore 64
-Apple II

For those who don't know, these emulators run without having to install anything extra. As long as you have the latest version of Java or Flash installed, they'll play which means they'll play on any operating system. Some browsers require that you manually approve the various Vizzed servers in order to play the games.

Java Security May Prevent Games From Working
Most likely Java is being blocked which prevents you from playing the games. You'll have to add Vizzed.net, Vizzed.co and Vizzed.com to the list of sites that you're approving. For information on how to do this, go here:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=72161

If you have any questions or feedback about any of this, please go here:

The Winter Minecraft Competition ends in about a month and since there aren't a lot of submissions yet, there's still tons of time to participate!

In this competition you must create the best structure on the Vizzed Minecraft Server. The structure can be of anything you want it to be. You can present your submission in the form of a video or screenshots. If you do a video then you must upload it to the Vizzed YouTube Account. If you do screenshots then you must upload them to Vizzed and then post them to the below thread.

To participate or for more information, go here:

For information, refer to the previous announcement.

As a way to celebrate Pokemon's 20th Anniversary this month, djinn8345, foxyman1113 and I will be streaming Pokemon games probably every Thursday from 2 PM - 4 PM (central time zone) for the rest of the month starting this Thursday.

This Thursday (2/11/2016) we'll be playing Pokemon games on the Game Boy Advance in a competitive type stream. Basically we'll be playing through a few games for probably a half hour each to see who can get the highest score or the furthest (depending on the game).

Next Thursday (2/18/2016) we'll probably be playing Pokemon X & Y for the 3DS as well as Smash Bros for the 3DS (probably do primarily Pokemon matches). Since it'll be the 3 of us, we'll be looking for users to join us to fill in the 4th slot so anyone interested who has these games can play with us (and if you have Skype, you can join our voice call).

I'm not sure what we'll be doing on the final Thursday of this month but when and if we decide on something, I'll be sure to post it here.

I'll be co-hosting the stream on djinn8345's twitch channel here:
http://www.twitch.tv/djinn8345

If you miss the streams, I'll be uploading them to my YouTube channel here:

https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=91920

You can earn up to US $100 or 200,000 Viz in the above competition!

On Friday, 1/29/2016, from 4 - 7 PM (central time zone) we'll all be listening to and rating the songs submitted to the Modern Video Game Music Competition. Around 30 seconds before each song is done, I'll put up a poll which will allow everyone to vote. I will be hosting this event on my Twitch channel and I'll be giving away a total of 200,000 Viz and $200 Steam Games to random viewers of the stream so the longer you stick around and vote, the better your chances of walking away with a cash prize. To qualify for the Viz prizes, all you have to do is vote on the music and follow my channel.

If you can't stick around for the entire thing that's fine but it'd be cool if you could stop by and hang out in the chat for however long you can. It's usually a lot of fun chatting with vizzed users, talking about video games and listening to awesome video game music.

This will probably be the last time I host a music stream and competition like this. All future music competitions and streams will be a bit different.

The Video Game Music feature has come a long way since it launched about a month ago which you can read about here. The Video Game Music can be found here:
https://www.vizzed.com/videogames/music.php

The feature is nearly at 60,000 songs and since there are a ton of songs that need ratings, I'm offer Viz again to those who help out by rating songs. All you have to do is find songs that are good and rate them. Look up songs that you know are good, search the internet for suggestions on what songs are good or search for songs based on system, keywords, etc. If you come across Bad songs or OK songs then feel free to rate them Bad or OK but this offer is for finding good songs and rating them good which means only songs that you rate a 4 or 5 will count. DO NOT RATE RANDOM SONGS, I will be looking through the songs you all rate to make sure you didn't pick random songs!

Here's how much Viz I'll give you guys based on how many songs you rate:
+25 Songs = 5,000 Viz
+50 Songs = 15,000 Viz
+100 Songs = 50,000 Viz

Rating Super Nintendo songs will not count for this offer since I already had an offer for SNES. Songs for all other systems count though!

Once you've rated enough songs to qualify you for Viz, be sure to let me know in the below thread and I'll send you the Viz. Keep in mind that you'll also be automatically earning CP and Viz when you rate these songs so you'll be getting my bonus Viz on top of the regular Viz.

For more information or to claim your Viz, go here:

There's still time to sign up to the Winter Netplay Tournament which starts on Monday, 1/11/2015. You'll be able to pick from the following games: Super Mario Kart, Tetris Attack, Street Fighter II Turbo, Ms. Pac-Man, Super Bomberman 4, Metal Warriors , NBA Jam: TE and Micro Machines 2 - Turbo Tournament. There have been a lot of updates to the Video Game Music feature since it was added earlier this month (as you can see here) and now I have it ready for staff to help out with adding music which hopefully means lots of music and a big variety of it will be added sooner rather than later. If you're currently a staff member and would like to help out, please refer to my latest thread titled 'Music Adding' in the site staff forum.

I'm also finished with adding SNES music (for now anyway, only thing left is obscure Japan exclusive SNES games) which means I'll be placing my focus on a new system soon but for the time being, I'll be adding soundtracks that I either really like, that are popular or that users request.

New Video Game Music Features
-The music pages have been optimized even more for mobile devices
-Various adjustments to CP and Viz payout for rating songs
-Lots of other little things here and there not worth mentioning individually

VGM Index Page Related:
-Various adjustments to the trending area toward the bottom
-Added a 'Latest Games' section to the trending area
-I added a 'What's Being Listened to Right Now' toward the bottom of the page which shows what users are listening to (only displays when users are listening to music)
-Drop down menu for each system that has song which lets you view and select any game that has music available and takes you straight to the soundtrack of that game
-Drop down menu that shows all user created playlists

Song Pages:
-Now display a song's bitrate

Playlist Related:
-Ability to Delete Your Playlists
-Ability to Delete Songs from Your Playlists
-Ability to choose default order of songs in your playlists
-Playlists now show accurate information (such as total duration and song count)
-Ability to see what songs you've rated (click the 'Your Rated Songs' link in 'Your Playlists')

More features will be added in the near future which will include the ability to comment on songs and playlists, more search functionality, ability to individually order songs in your playlist and more.

Video Game Music Staff Application
Are you interested in helping us add music to the site by joining the staff? If so, respond to the below thread on why you think you're qualified to help. Here are the requirements:
-Willing to invest at least 5 hours into the site each week
-You are at least 13 years old
-Haven't been banned in the past year
-Be a Trusted Member or have more than 1000 Contribution Points
-Have a good internet connection

Video Game Song Request
Are there any soundtracks you'd like for us to upload? Submit your requests to the below thread and we'll work on getting it added as soon as we can. You can request a soundtrack for just about any system. However, I'll be adding just about every song for every game for GBA, N64, Genesis, SMS, NES, GB, GBC and TG over the next few months and I'll be working on them in a specific order so any songs requested for those systems may not get added right away.

Do you have any questions or feedback? Post them here:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=91789

The Winter Netplay tournament on Vizzed has had the same format ever since it began 2 years ago but for the first time we're doing a system that isn't the Nintendo NES; we're finally doing the Super NES.

Here's how it works. Everyone starts out in the "winners" bracket and if you lose, you go on to the "losers" bracket and if you lose in the losers bracket, you're out of the tournament. At the very end, the winner of the winners bracket and the winner of the losers bracket play each other but the winner of the losers bracket has to beat the winner of the winners bracket twice (this makes it fair to the user who went undefeated for going undefeated).

Since this is a double elimination tournament, there is no way for me to know how long it'll last since the amount of people who sign up determines how long it'll last but if I were to take a guess, I'd say around 6 weeks. I will allow any number of users to join but we will need an even number. Bye weeks may be handed out to users who do very well if needed in order to balance out the structuring of the brackets.

We'll be playing various multiplayer games for the Super Nintendo. In each weekly matchup, you'll be able to pick which games you want to play against your weekly opponent. Some of those games include Super Mario Kart, Street Fighter II, Ms. Pac-Man, Super Bomberman 5, NBA Jam, Micro Machines 2, and more. The goal is to have 1 or 2 games from each of the major genres and each game should only take between 5-15 minutes (so games like Monopoly are out of the question). If you want to recommend additional games for this tournament, do so in this thread https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=91734

Requirements:
-You must live in the United States (unless you have had very little lag problems playing netplay with USA users)
-SNES Netplay must work fine for you
-The RGR Plugin must work fine on your computer
-If you're on the ban list, you cannot enter. To see who is on the ban list, go here:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=60334

Prizes:
1st = US $50 or 100,000 Viz
2nd = US $25 or 50,000 Viz
3rd = US $10 or 20,000 Viz
4th = 10,000 Viz
5th = 5,000 Viz

Entry Fee: None
(since this is an elimination type tournament, I see no reason for an entry fee)

Penalty:
If you fail to play 2 or more of your matches, you'll be added to the netplay ban list which means you wont be able to participate in a netplay tournament for at least a year. You'll also have 10,000 Viz deducted from your account.

Signup ends and Tournament begins on Monday, January 11th (or once we get 128 users).

If you want to enter, respond to this thread:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=91734

The PlayStation item is 50,000 Viz and it gives you access to play nearly 2,500 PlayStation games. We have just about every PS1 game ever made on the site and also a lot of rare unreleased stuff as well. The games play great and the majority of the games work! Below you'll find a few ways that you can quickly earn that 50,000 Viz today (be sure to click the links for more information). Even if you already have the PlayStation item, you can still do these offers if you want to earn lots of Viz.

Help out Vizzed = Earn 10,000+ Viz!
This thread has tons of different ways that I'm offering users to earn Viz simply by helping out Vizzed.

Rate my Super Mario Maker Levels = 10,000 Viz
This should take no more than 20 minutes of your time! Even if you've done this before, there are new levels added that you can rate for more Viz.

Star My Levels in Super Mario Maker = 20,000 Viz
This offer requires access to the Super Mario Maker game but has a huge payout and requires very little time. Even if you've done this before, there are new levels added that you can star for more Viz.

Vizzed Market Forum
This forum has tons of threads created by various users and myself allowing anyone to earn lots of Viz.

Donating
Of course the quickest way to earn Viz is by donating to the site. The site has been struggling financially for a while now and I've been having troubles keeping up with paying the RGR Plugin developer. You can earn 10,000 Viz for each US $10 that you donate so if you have anything to spare, please consider it.

Submitting Site Content
You can earn both Viz and CP when you submit various forms of content to the site.

If you have any questions or feedback, please let me know in this thread:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=91691

I wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. It's not quite Christmas yet but I always like to make sure everyone in all time zones get this before Christmas.

7 Days of Vizzed Christmas
You'll all be rewarded a nice Christmas gift when you come to the site on Christmas (server time). Additionally, you'll be rewarded a random amount of Viz for each day that you come to Vizzed from the 25th until the end of the year, the 'Vizzed 7 Days of Christmas'. Be sure to visit the site each day to claim your random Viz gift!

Christmas Games in the Retro Game Room
The Retro Game Room has 70+ Christmas games. You can find them all here:
https://www.vizzed.com/playonlinegames/index.php?sort=best&search=Christmas&searchBy=theme

Christmas Video Game Music
I put together a playlist of Christmas songs that I found in the Video Game Music feature which I recently added to the website here:
https://www.vizzed.com/videogames/music.php?playlist=4#player1?catid=0&trackid=0

Earn an easy 2500 Viz
A few years ago I put together a video highlighting 12 Christmas games (non hacked):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcbh8UIMMj8
I'll give you 2500 Viz for liking and commenting on the above YouTube video. Let me know in the below thread once you've done this.

Tell your friends about the site and earn lots of Viz
From now until the end of the year, if you refer 10 people to the site, I'll give you 50,000 Viz on top of the 5000+ Viz that you'll automatically get for referring them (enough for the PlayStation item which grants you access to PlayStation games). In other words, you'll earn 50,000+ Viz for referring 10 of your friends to the site. There's a ton of kids on Christmas break, a lot of them may be looking for something to do, why not introduce them to Vizzed? Once you've referred the users (and they've registered), let me know in the below thread.

Christmas Streams
There's going to be a few users doing live streams of Christmas games over the next few days, possibly including myself. You can find a list of Twitch Streamers on Vizzed here:
https://www.vizzed.com/playonlinegames/netplaysessions.php
(be sure to 'follow' the streamers you like)

Any questions, comments or feedback? Or do you simply want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas? Do so in this thread:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=91647

The Christmas Themed Layout Competition has come to an end and is now ready for everyone to vote on what they think is the best Christmas layout! All you have to do is reply to this thread with ratings for each layout that was submitted to the thread on a scale from 1-5.
