What do you think is the greatest song in a Modern video game? Find that game, find the music within that game and record it! Any song for any game that doesn't exist in the Retro Game Room counts. So pretty much anything newer than the Dreamcast (except the Game Boy Advance) counts. You can find the Video Game Room here:

This will only be the 2nd time I'm allowing non-RGR games in a music competition and the first time where I'm allowing any non-RGR game (last time was for Christmas games only). I also recently added a game page for every Steam game here:

RULES and INFO:
-You can submit up to 10 submissions total
-You can submit up to 4 submissions per a system (except for Windows and Steam, there are no limits on those)
-You can submit up to 3 songs per a franchise
-You can submit only 2 songs per a game
-Different versions of the same game count as the same game
-Each submission needs to be 1 video
-Your video cannot contain more than 1 song
-A song cannot be looped more than 2 times per a video
-Videos must be shorter than 5 minutes and longer than 30 seconds
-You cannot edit your video in any way, it needs to be raw footage
-Be sure to let me know in this thread which videos you've uploaded
-Be sure to specify which game each submission is for
-Your videos must be uploaded to the Vizzed YouTube account
-You cannot do the same song as someone else, even if the same song belongs to a different game (unless the song sounds significantly different)
-You must add your video to the game's page (which should happen automatically when you upload your video to the Vizzed YouTube account)
-Your submission should have as few sound effects as possible (so try not to move or fight enemies and use the sound test whenever possible)
-If 2 users submit the same song to this competition, whichever user uploaded their video to the Vizzed YouTube account first gets credit

Q = How do I upload videos?
A = Scroll about half way down the page where you see the video area and then click the 'Click to Upload your Video to Vizzed YouTube'. Here's a screenshot of it:




Tip: If the game lets you listen to each song from the game on the options screen (sometimes referred to as the sound test page), you may do your recording from that. You may also mute all sounds (some games support this in the options) for when you're playing on the level that has the music you want to capture.

Tip 2: It is suggested that you try not to make too many noises in the game when you're attempting to record the music, other noises would be a distraction and will lower the chances of your song from being voted for. If possible, try to stand still on a level.

gamerforlifeforever2 : You could try finding emulators for them. You'd need an external device to record with most consoles but the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 have built in recording. As for most handhelds, you'd need a modded handheld to record it. If you have a PSP though, you could get the cables that lets you hook it up to a TV but from there you'd need a way to capture it. Not sure about the Vita.

What?! There are Steam games here in Vizzed now? Oh man, this is awesome!. I was thinking is suggest this inclusion.

Davideo7 : Can you record some music from an external recording device ,but you can't afford an external recording device ,can you record some music using a webcam or camcorder?

Davideo7 : Yes, I know that , that was I wanted to say, a page in the VGR dedicated to every Steam game.

Davideo7 : What if there's a game that's in the RGR but the game doesn't work in the emulator?? I'm asking because there's a game on ps2 in the VGR that I want to use, but it also has an arcade version that's on the MAME emulator in the RGR, but the thing is, the game is completely broken on the MAME emulator and doesn't work at all. Can I still use a song from the ps2 version?

Davideo7 : I was actually wondering how I should go about submitting videos without the use of a capture card. I have several ps2 game I can rip and (very slowly...) emulate, but the built in video recorder for PCSX2 records the audio and video files separately. Size isn't an issue because I'm using Handbrake, but I can't figure out any way to actually record the video. Any suggestions?

vizzy900 : No because that'd just be poor quality. Sorry. You could always look into emulators.

m0ssb3rg935 : You could try the 30 day trial of camtasia. You could also try camstudio which is completely free. My personal favorite, although costs money, is X-Split.

Davideo7 : Just for clarification, does songs that aren't originally from the game still count? Because it's fairly easy to find popular songs that are known regardless of the game, or due to another form of media.

Examples would be songs from Lord of The Rings, Harry Potter and other movies or famous songs taken from the radio in the GTA series. This is basically music from other media that were already successful and used into the game.

Davideo7 : Ok, I won't be able to participate in this one then. The only way I'd be able to get the submissions I want is if I got a capture card, but that stuff is way too expensive to use just for a music contest.

Davideo7 : I am very lucky you did this competition this month, as I just got my Elgato HD Capture Card on Christmas. Looking forward to everybody's submissions and the stream.

gamerforlifeforever2 : You only need a capture card for ps3, and xbox 360. Anything else can be done through emulation, or using the recorder on ps4 & XB1. I'm saying this because I don't have a capture card either, so i'll probably just be skipping over ps3 & xbox 360 music.
