This month's High Score competition is for 'Pokemon Pinball - Ruby & Sapphire' for the Game Boy Advance. You can play it here:

The point of this competition is to get as high of a score as you can.


VIDEO REQUIRED: You must must use the RGR Plugin's built in video recording to record the gameplay and then upload that video to the Vizzed YouTube account.

RULES: You MUST play the game using the RGR Plugin in 'Timetrial Mode' and take a screenshot of your top score from that by pressing F6. To play in 'Timetrial Mode', scroll down the page where the highscores would appear, you'll see a link that says 'Click Here to Compete for Highscore', click that. Once you've taken your screenshot, click the link near that one that says 'Click Here to Submit your Score' to submit your score.

You cannot unfairly get points or lives or use a glitch of any sort. If you find something that gives out unlimited points or lives, it will not count.

2nd = 25,000 Viz
3rd = 10,000 Viz

Davideo7 : I am SO down for this! I already have the standing high score for this game. As a matter of fact, if I hadn't clicked out of the window by accident, my score would have been even higher. One question though... how rigid is the video rule..? I might be able to manage, but 3 hours of GBA gameplay, even after compressing with Handbrake, will be HUGE. I personally don't know of any glitches in this game, and I wouldn't cheat anyway. I don't have to

EDIT: You might also want to make a separate page specifically for this competition. That way, none of the scores or videos get mixed up with the old ones.

m0ssb3rg935 : Your high score run took you 3 hours? The videos are required for these competitions because there are just too many ways to potentially cheat in these competitions. You could always just use an external recording program.

Davideo7 : Actually, I just went and checked my score, and it says 5 hours, 15 minutes and 20 seconds, and like I said, I played for almost an hour after that before I accidentally clicked out.

m0ssb3rg935 : Was that all part of a single high score run though? Retrogamer275, who has a score higher than yours, took a little over 3 hours and EX Palen, who is in 3rd place, only took about 2 hours.

Davideo7 : There might have been a little idle time in there, but not much. She's actually in first because she took less time and the score displayed on the page maxed out at the highest 32 bit integer or whatever. If you look at each screenshot, it shows that I actually have over 500 million point more than she does. Anyway, my only concern was uploading. Here at the house, for the brief moments that the Internet is actually up and running.... I get a max download speed of 100 KB/s, and an upload speed of a lot worse, and then I have to factor in that I share it with 5 other people. Even the "good" WiFi in town maxes out at a half a megabyte a second download. I'll try to make it work though.

m0ssb3rg935 : You know your stuff, I'm impressed. I actually didn't realize any scores in any of the RGR games exceeded 2147483647 so I made the INT value unsigned which means we can now do scores up to 4294967295. Now if for some reason scores ever exceed that, I can change the integer type to BIGINT but that comes at a cost so hopefully it doesn't come to that.

Davideo7 : Nah, not really. I actually only just learned about the whole 32 bit time thing after clicking a link when I was trying to add content to a couple Steam pages. When it comes to tech stuff, I'm pretty oblivious. I'm glad I could do something for the site by bringing it to your attention though. I wonder what would have happened if we had reached 2,147,483,647 views.... We're starting to get close.

Davideo7 : Sorry so be a pest, but I have another question regarding the recording of my run. Because of the massive amount of lag and sticky/unresponsive controls from either the internal recorder or OBS, there's just no feasible way for me to do this with the RGR plugin. However, I could manage to make a lag free recording using an off site emulator, and have already figured out how to submit screenshots from an external emulator to the high score section of the page. Would this be permitted as long as I have video evidence that I'm not doing anything that's not kosher?

m0ssb3rg935 : The point of these competitions is to promote the RGR Plugin so that'd defeat the purpose. Also, when you play games in high score mode on Vizzed, they go into a no cheat and no save mode which helps prevent cheating. I have no control over what users are doing with their emulators if they were to do high score runs using external emulators.

Sorry about the poor quality on this but at least I know what I did wrong when encoding it and that won't happen again.

My final score was a very average 82,073,100.

I also submitted a screenshot but I'm not finding it anywhere.

I hope that doesn't disqualify me from this monthly competition.
