Video Game Price Guide - Beta Test & Hiring Staff
This is a feature that some of you know about that I've been working on for a few weeks on and off. It's now ready for testing. To test it out, find a game in the Video Game Room that you own in real life and than click the 'Add to Collection' link right under the game's name. This will bring up a form, fill it out as accurately as you can for the most accurate price of what your game is worth. Once you've added a game to your collection, a link on your profile will appear that will allow you and others to see a list of all the games in your collection. You can view my collection here:

Benefits of adding your games to your collection list: -Helps you keep track of what you own -It'll give you the value of each game you own (doesn't include all systems or games yet) -It'll give you the total value of your entire collection -Allows you to show off your collection Future benefits: -If you -If you -Game Collector Card: Every user will have a generated card graphic which rates their collection and gives a few facts and statistics about it and users will be able to share that card by either placing it in their layout or placing it on another site (and when clicked, it takes the user to your game collection) -Plenty more that I'm not ready to share yet Other future features: -Will include game systems and accessories -I'll be adding more game to the VGR (not RGR) -Collection categorized by system -Collection filter to order your collection by price, date acquired, etc -A quick add game page which will allow you to add your collection quickly -A page showing the most valuable games and the newly listed ebay listings -A statistics page showing which users own the most games for which system and all systems -A printable price guide for each system -Charts showing if a game's value is going up or down and by how much -Charts also showing if your game collection is going up or down and by how much -Mobile app (more details on that later) -Plenty more that I'm not ready to share yet The prices are based on ebay listings and there are some ebay listings that don't get placed in the proper category or under the proper game. On any game page, if you click the 'Price Guide' link, you'll see all of the ebay listings that the price numbers are based on. Currently only staff can remove listings that don't belong to a certain game but every user has the ability to move a listing to the proper category (for example, if you see a game that's listed as 'New' but it's really 'Complete', you can move it). You get CP and Viz for helping categorize the listings but you do have a daily limit on how many listings you can categorize and the staff will monitor this stuff to make sure no one is intentionally moving listings to the wrong category. New Systems and Games Added to the RGR!
The PSX item and games are back to their original Viz prices and creating netplay sessions now requires the netplay item again, however, I've added 3 new systems to the site for a total of 195 games. Almost every game was added for the 3 new systems so they're almost complete libraries. Below are the newly added systems:
Virtual Boy: 28 Games added This was a cartridge system made by Nintendo that failed miserably in the mid 90s. The system mounted to your head in order for the games to appear 3D (all the games were in red). The games on vizzed don't support the stereoscopic 3D but the emulator has been modified to play the games in a clear 2D. Turbo Grafx CD: 102 Games added This was a CD addon system made by NEC for the Turbo Grafx, similar to the Sega CD addon for the Sega Genesis. Most of the games for this system were released in Japan but it did have some American releases. Since it's a CD system, the games are very large. This system does support netplay on vizzed. PC-FX: 65 Games Added This was a 32 bit CD system made by NEC that was only released in Japan. This system is incredibly rare and the only opportunity you'll probably ever have to play this system is by playing it on vizzed. The games have a lot of anime cut scenes as to why the games are very large. The 8 multi disc games for this system currently don't support disc swapping, this will be fixed in the future. This system also support netplay on vizzed. All of these systems are rare and it's safe to assume that most of you probably haven't heard of all of these systems and some of you probably haven't heard of any of these systems but that's what vizzed is all about, discovering games that would otherwise be forgotten and unheard of. It took me a quite a bit of time to find and add these games so if you want to help out, help add content to the newly added games such as screenshots, reviews or videos. Since 2 of the new CD system's games cost a lot of Viz and since the V-Machine and Laptop item doesn't cover CD systems, users are going to be in need of Viz so if you do any of the below offers for the new systems, I'll give you 15,000 Viz (which is enough for the Download Accelerator which will make these games download faster). -Take 10 unique screenshots for 5 different newly added games (total of 50 screenshots) for games that don't already have screenshots or -Take a total of 2 hours worth of videos for 2 or more games or -Write 1000+ words worth of reviews (example: 2 500 word reviews, 1 1000 word review, etc) Offer expires 10/20/2013 If you have any questions, comments or feedback, please ask in this thread: https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=65705 |

Site Back to Normal + Rewards!
After battling with site issues for the past month or so, I think I've finally fixed the problem where the site would get really slow and constantly go down. I've spent countless hours working on the site to get back to the speed it use to be it wasn't soon enough because the site's traffic has dropped by around half which means the site revenue has dropped by half as well. Donations would be great to help me keep up with the site finances but what would help out the site even more is if you all told your friends about the site and advertised vizzed.com wherever you can, it'd be great to get some of that traffic back.
As a reward for everyone's patience during this time, all of the games are 50% off of their normal Viz prices and netplay is free until September 22nd (the games had been free during the time the site was slow but they didn't save to profiles since you weren't actually "buying" them when they were free). Another way I plan on saying thanks to everyone's loyalty is by releasing more games to the site in September. I'll release 3-5 new systems in the month of September. Name that Game: Nintendo NES Edition = Win $25
In this competition, you have to try and correctly name as many games as you can. Whoever names the most games correct once the competition ends, which will be August 30th 2013, will win US $25. If more than 1 user tie, than the money will be awarded to whoever posted their answers first. Introducing a New Monthly Competition = VCS CP Edition!
This is a new monthly competition which will take place every 3 months, August, November, February and May. This competition is very similar to the VCS competition except this competition isn't a posting competition, it's a competition based on Contribution Points.
For those who don't know, CP is a measure of how much you contribute to the site. Almost every action on the site has CP and Viz attached to it. The higher your CP is, the more features that will be available to you, the more Viz you can earn and the more respected you'll be among the staff and the rest of the users. It will also increase your chances of becoming a staff member. Maintenance Update Regarding Backups
There's still no word on when the maintenance will be complete, hostgator is taking their time and giving me very little information.
In the previous announcement I mentioned backing up the site 3 times a day. Basically any content submitted to the site before I make a backup will most likely be safe and has a better chance of not being lost. Any content made after a backup has a better chance of being lost once the migration is complete; read the previous announcement for more information as to why this is the case. Here are the times I'll be making the backups (the times aren't exact): -11 AM Central Time -5 PM Central Time -11 PM Central Time So if you plan to submit a lot of content to the site, try to do it before a backup. I should also point out that while these backups take place, the site will become slower and will go down a few times. The backups shouldn't take more than 15-30 minutes each. Maintenance Update
Site maintenance is still going on (refer to previous announcement) and may still take 24-72 hours, however, I've made all the site features available again but here's the catch, it's possible that you could lose 0-8 hours worth of content that you submit to the site during this time. So if you post or send private messages, it's possible that you may lose 8 hours worth of posts or messages so if you make any big posts during this time, be sure to save the contents of your post to word pad or note pad. You will not lose any game saves and if you take any screenshots and they disappear, they're still available on the server, you'll just have to resubmit them. The site will be slower than normal during this maintenance.
The games will continue to be 0 Viz until the maintenance is complete. I will make another announcement when the maintenance is complete. So what is this maintenance about? Well hostgator decided that I needed to upgrade my server (I had no choice) so started to migrate the database to a new server a few days ago and they still haven't finished. This has forced me to backup the database every 6-12 hours so that when the transfer is complete, the most recent content on the old database isn't lost (as soon as the transfer is complete, they're taking down the old server). I apologize for this inconvenience and I'll do my best to make it up to you all in the upcoming week. |

Site Maintenance for 24-48 hours (all games are currently 0 Viz)
The site will be undergoing maintenance for the next 24-48 hours. While the maintenance goes on, all of the RGR games will be 0 Viz, so be sure to take advantage of this and play as many games as you want  (you will not get to "keep" them though)
During this time, the following features will still be available: -Playing games -Netplay lobby -Game saving -Chat Room -Logging in and logging out -Profile Commenting -Many others Some of the things that you do after the maintenance begins will be lost after the maintenance ends, which includes profile commenting, game rating, screenshot and video rating, Viz earning, game buying/selling, etc. During this time, the following features will not be available: -Registration -Posting -Game Commenting -Submitting Screenshots -Submitting Videos -HighScore and Speedruns -Private Message System I'll make another announcement once everything is back to normal. |

Pokemon Rom Hacking Competition = Earn US $200+
Here's your chance to learn how to hack Pokemon games for the Game Boy Advance (Fire Red, Leaf Green, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald) and also earn real money in the process! On top of that cash rewards, you can earn tons of CP and Viz as well.
Here's how it works. You create a Rom hack of any of the GBA Pokemon games and when it's all finished, you send it to tRIUNE and he'll add it to the site so that others can play it. From that point, you can earn $200+. Read below for more details. What is a Pokemon Rom Hack: It's where you redesign the towns, change locations of Pokemon, change the Pokemon (including stats, name and looks), graphics, title screen, menus, items, music/sounds, write new scr https://www.vizzed.com/playonlinegames/index.php?sort=best&system=gba&search=pokemon&category=10#searchjump Earnings: Once the competition is over, whoever has the best rated game with at least 3 votes and at least 5,000 plays wins $200 (real money). 2nd place will win $50. If for some reason very few users enter and therefore no one reaches at least 5,000 plays, than only the 2nd place prize will be handed out. You can also earn money even if you don't place. Between now and February 16th, for each 10,000 views your game gets, you'll earn $20 (a maximum of $100 per a game). To qualify for this, your game must have at least a rating of 7.0 or higher. The money can be paid in multiple ways. I can send you the money via paypal, buy you an amazon gift card, buy and send you Microsoft Points, buy and send you Nintendo Points, buy you something online, etc. If you wanted to take Viz instead of the cash, than you could take 300,000 Viz instead of the $200, 75,000 Viz instead of the $50, and 30,000 Viz instead of the $20. Additional Earnings: You'll earn 1 Viz for each play your game gets and 0.1 CP for each 10 plays your game gets. So if your game gets 15,000 views (which is about the average amount of views hacked GBA Pokemon games have right now), you'd earn 15,000 Viz and 150 CP. On top of that, you'd earn tons of CP and Viz each time the game receives a good rating. All of these earnings are automated and will be in effect forever, even after this competition is over (if your game has more than 1 developer, earnings will be evenly split among all developers). Submission Deadline: October 16th, 2013. Payout Date: December 16th, 2013 is when we'll figure out who won and who deserves how much money. Rules and Info: -The game must be made for vizzed.com and must be made available only on vizzed -Vizzed.com must be placed on the title screen somewhere (since vizzed will basically be the "publisher" of your game) -The hack can be about anything, there aren't really any guidelines to follow -You may work with a team but you'll than have to split the earnings -Games must be finished to qualify -Limit of 3 games per a user (that doesn't include games you work on with others) -Limit of 5 developers per a game -Only games created after 7/13/2013 count -You can hack any of the Pokemon games for Game Boy Advance, which includes Pokemon Fire Red, Pokemon Leaf Green, Pokemon Ruby, Pokemon Sapphire and Pokemon Emerald -You may submit your game as a demo/beta to the site to be tested but demos/betas will not qualify for the earnings and we'll only accept them if they're at least 25% complete -Anyone caught cheating in any way will be disqualified and possibly even banned for life -You'll be given admin powers for your game pages so that you can add, edit and remove content and graphics -You may promote your own game by submitting screenshots to it, editing the game page, creating various threads for it (as long as they're not spam), recording videos for it & uploading them to the vizzed youtube account, creating a custom boxart graphic, responding to comments or threads regarding your game, telling your friends about it, advertising it on the internet, etc Want to learn how to hack Pokemon games? earthwarrior put together a few threads in the Game Design / RPG Maker / Rom Hacking forum. Things such as giving users of the site cameos in the game, creating towns based on vizzed, etc. -Giving it a Christmas or Winter theme could potentially help since the voting will take place around that time. Of course this strategy wouldn't work if to many users tried doing this. -Play as many GBA Pokemon rom hacks as you can in the Retro Game Room to get ideas and inspiration for your hack. Latest Firefox causes RGR Plugin to not work = Here's how to fix it
The latest version of Firefox causes the RGR Plugin to not work. There's 2 solutions to this problem:
1. Use a different internet browser such as Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc or 2. Download and install firefox version 21 here: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/21.0/win32/en-US/Firefox%20Setup%2021.0.exe (if you need version 21 in a different language, go here) 2. Open up firefox and go to your options window (click the 'Firefox' button at the top right to find the options window), than go to the Advanced tab and than click the Update tab. From here, choose to either check for updates but not install, or never check for updates. This will make it so that firefox wont update itself which would cause the plugin to stop working again. That's it, simple as that. Once a new version of firefox comes out that doesn't cause RGR Plugin issues, or once we find a better solution and maybe a fix to the problem, I'll make a separate announcement.
