Maintenance Update Regarding Backups

There's still no word on when the maintenance will be complete, hostgator is taking their time and giving me very little information.

In the previous announcement I mentioned backing up the site 3 times a day. Basically any content submitted to the site before I make a backup will most likely be safe and has a better chance of not being lost. Any content made after a backup has a better chance of being lost once the migration is complete; read the previous announcement for more information as to why this is the case.

Here are the times I'll be making the backups (the times aren't exact):
-11 AM Central Time
-5 PM Central Time
-11 PM Central Time
So if you plan to submit a lot of content to the site, try to do it before a backup.

That stinks that Hostgator is being so secretive as to what is going on with your maintenance. You figure that they would be a little more forthcoming as to what is going on. Especially a site with as much traffic as this one.

Thanks for the update. That would explain the server strain that just happened. I will try to make most of my posts before 5 hopefully and then maybe more before 11. Glad you gave us a time frame of when you will be doing a back up. Hopefully I can get all of my posts in before then. I hope hostgator speeds things up and actually accomplishes something.

The 'Godaddy Website Protection' is a service that Godaddy provides that checks your site for problems (such as spam, malware, etc) and lets people viewing the site know that the site is safe and legit. You don't need to have a Godaddy server or Godaddy hosting to use it, Godaddy offers a lot of nice non-hosting services.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.
