Here are the August 2013 T&C Thrilla's Surfari Speed Run Competition winners.

This is the first year that this yearly competition had so little participation, only 2 submissions. Either way, the submissions were a lot of fun to watch and are a good addition to the vizzed youtube gameplay library.

I kind of wonder where madison was for this one. She am pretty sure she would have won if she participated. But yeah, this game is extremely difficult anyway. I wasn't expecting much participation for a speed run here. I figured jerry would do it, but I really thought madison would too. 

jerryaberry : great video. I couldn't remember how I got in the 17 minute range last year until I saw your video. I forgot about being able to pretty much skip some of those desert levels by jumping around the rocky areas.

Definitely. I find it kind of funny how the speed run feature was in such high demand from users. But then when they realized that it is much harder to find cheat loopholes in speed run times than high score mode, they don't use it. They realize that when it comes to these competitions, you actually have to be as flawless as possible, or you will either not place high or have to restart the whole thing every time you make a mistake. It is definitely a more challenging kind of competition than high score competitions.

Thanks rcarter2. I see your video is basically a perfect run without the shortcuts so congrats! When I first played this game it was kind of like Aldynes, a new genre that just obliterated me. I embraced the challenge as I wish more people would do because it is an extremely rewarding experience and will only improve your skills as a gamer.

I hate selling out but to get more people involved would likely require 3 things: (in my opinion)
1) A game that many people cherish
2) Would only require a moderate amount of skill to complete
3) Expert gamers would have an array of means to completing the game faster

I try to do a balance between common games and uncommon games, hard games and easy games. This month has 1 very well known game and another that is well known enough so I expect a lot of participation this month is school doesn't get in the way of users that would compete.
