This month's Speed Run competition is for 'Super Mario Land' for the Game Boy. You can play it here:

The point of this competition is to beat the game as fast as you can.


VIDEO REQUIRED: Along with taking a screenshot with the plugin of the ending screen, you must also post a video of yourself beating the game. You must use the RGR Plugin's built in video recording capabilities. You must upload the video to the vizzed youtube account.


RULES: You MUST play the game using the RGR Plugin in 'Timetrial Mode' and take a screenshot of the ending screen by pressing F6 when you've completed the game. To play in 'Timetrial Mode', scroll down the page where it shows the Speed Runs, you'll see a link that says 'Click Here to Compete for Speed Run', click that. Once you've taken your screenshot, click the link near that one that says 'Click Here to Submit your Speed Run' to submit your speed run.


Prizes:
1st = 10,000 Viz
2nd = 2,500 Viz
3rd = 1,000 Viz

Davideo7 : I can't even submit my times! What do I do?

I would join but I don't have time. I'm too busy with the Tour De Vizzed right now. Also, whenever I try to post a video, my internet browser encounters an error after about half an hour of the upload process

Oh, this is interesting. I might just try this out. I love Mario Land, and actually owned the game itself, so this might be a competition that I might participate in.

I don't think there are any warps or other shortcuts in this one. Should be a nice straightforward speedrun.

Davideo7 : When I click Compete for Speed run, then go to the record option in the top-left of the player, the bottom right changes from a speed run description to the usual "Save State, Screen shot, Load State, Speedup".  Surely this does not mean it will have to be done twice, in both modes? Or does it?  I am just curious.

i just spedran this,  when i loaded the game it said i must use Mednafen to record my video, however when you start recording the screenshot (F6) option gets disabled, so i cant take a screenshot of 'The End' screen' and submit to the game page   the 2 people who have their scores submitted seemed to record their videos w/o mednafen as their graphics aren't unenhanced like mine seemd to be.  i really dunno what this mednafen thing means, but how were they able to record w/o it and how shall i go about competing in this speedrun,  shall i just send my mednafen video in as proof w/o the need for a screen shot?  thanx any1

Question.  I hit F6 to screenshot the ending of Super Mario Land but I don't want to submit that screenshot.  Can I re-do it and replace that current "saved" screenshot?  (I want to re-do my speedrun.  And again, I did not submit anything yet.)

kanoakamori : It'll store all of your screenshots on the speed run submission page so all you have to do is submit the one that had the best time. You should be able to figure out which one has the best time either based on when you took the screenshot (based on which is newest) or by looking at the URL of the screenshot, it should say in seconds how long it took to take that screenshot.

Davideo7 : Alright thanks.  I've submitted a screenshot and uploaded the video on the vizzed youtube.

Since the site was down for more than 24 hours, I'm letting this competition stay open for 12 or so more hours, enough time for users to submit their videos or screenshots in case they weren't able to.
