From now on, Netplay sessions will cost Viz but will be available to anyone to create. There's also been a ton of new features added to netplay. For more information, go here:

The NES Remix Netplay Tournament start date has been changed to tomorrow so be sure to sign up if you haven't already! It is based on Nintendo games and you can win up to 50,000 Viz!
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=70979

This is an "Official" Vizzed tournament. As some of you know, I plan to hold 4 a year.
Unlike the last Vizzed Tournament (which will be headed to the final round next week), this tournament will be all elimination rounds, well double elimination to be exact. In other words, lose 2 games and you're out of the tournament.

Everyone starts out in the "winners" bracket and if you lose, you go on to the "losers" bracket and if you lose in the losers bracket, you're out of the tournament. At the very end, the winner of the winners bracket and the winner of the losers bracket play each other but the winner of the losers bracket has to beat the winner of the winners bracket twice (this makes it fair to the user who went undefeated for going undefeated).

Since this is a double elimination tournament, there is no way for me to know how long it'll last since the amount of people who sign up determines how long it'll last but if I were to take a guess, I'd say around 6 weeks. I will allow any number of users to join but we will need an even number. Bye weeks may be handed out to users who do very well if needed in order to balance out the structuring of the brackets.

We'll be playing most of the multiplayer games that are on the Wii-U's latest game called 'NES Remix', which includes: Balloon Fight, Baseball, Clu Clu Land, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Donkey Kong 3, Golf, Ice Climber, Mario Bros., Pinball, Tennis, Urban Champion, and Wrecking Crew. The players of each matchup will get to choose which game they want to pick and each matchup will involve you playing at least 2 games with each user picking one of them and if one user wins both games, they are declared winner of that matchup but if each player wins 1 game each, players both pick 1 more game each and do the process over again and this cycle repeats until one of the user wins both selected games.

Requirements:
-You must live in the United States (unless you have had very little lag problems playing netplay with USA users)
-The RGR Plugin must work fine on your computer
-If you're on the ban list, you cannot enter. To see who is on the ban list, go here:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=60334

Prizes:
1st = 50,000 Viz
2nd = 25,000 Viz
3rd = 10,000 Viz

Entry Fee: None
(since this is an elimination type tournament, I see no reason for an entry fee)

Signup ends and Tournament begins on Monday, January 20th.

I wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. It's not quite Christmas yet but I wanted to get a head start.

7 Days of Vizzed Christmas
You'll all be rewarded a nice Christmas gift when you come to the site on Christmas (server time). Additionally, you'll be rewarded a random amount of Viz for each day that you come to vizzed from the 25th until the end of the year, the 'Vizzed 7 Days of Christmas'.

Christmas Games in the Retro Game Room
I put together a list of about 50 Christmas games that can be played in the RGR:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=69406

Earn an easy 1000 Viz
I also put together a video highlighting 12 Christmas games (non hacked):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcbh8UIMMj8
I'll give you 1000 Viz for liking and commenting on the above youtube video. Let me know in the below thread once you've done this.

Tell your friends about the site and earn lots of Viz
From now until the end of the year, if you refer 10 people to the site, I'll give you 20,000 Viz on top of the 5000+ Viz that you'll automatically get for referring them. In other words, you'll earn 25,000+ Viz for referring 10 of your friends to the site. There's a ton of kids on Christmas break, a lot of them may be looking for something to do, why not introduce them to Vizzed? Once you've referred the users (and they've registered), let me know in the below thread.

Christmas Streams
There's going to be a few users doing live streams of Christmas games over the next few days, including myself. You can find a list of Twitch Streamers on Vizzed here:
https://www.vizzed.com/playonlinegames/twitchstreamers.php

Also be sure to subscribe to the streamers you like.

Any questions, comments or feedback? Or do you simply want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas? Do so in this thread:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=70290

I've created a page dedicated to users of vizzed who want to live stream themselves playing games in the Retro Game Room:
https://www.vizzed.com/playonlinegames/twitchstreamers.php

The page will show all of the users who plan to do stream and all of the active streams. It'll also display up to 4 live streams on that page along with the chat rooms to talk with the streamers so be sure to check it out! Also be sure to "follow" the streamers that you may be interested in by clicking the heart icon on their streaming page.

If you're interested in doing your own live streams, be sure to respond to this thread letting me know what your twitch channel is and I'll add you to the list:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=69017

Christmas Games in the Retro Game Room
I put together a list of about 48 Christmas games that can be played in the RGR:

Earn an easy 1000 Viz
I also put together a video last year highlighting 12 Christmas games (non hacked):

I'll give you 1000 Viz for liking and commenting on the above youtube video. Let me know in the below thread once you've done this.

There's currently 4 Christmas themed competitions going on right now on vizzed so be sure to participate for a chance to earn Viz:

Free Netplay
For the rest of this month, you do not need the Netplay item to create netplay sessions of games in the Retro Game Room (normally it costs 10,000 Viz for this item). Netplay in the Retro Game Room allows you to play multiplayer games with other users on the site, supported game systems include: Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Turbo Grafx and Nintendo 64.

Live Stream Right Now!
lilwildwolf21 is doing a Christma themed live stream marathon on twitch so be sure to tune in:
http://www.twitch.tv/djinn8345

He also does live streams every weeknight from 8 PM - 12 AM (central time) so be sure to catch his streams all month long. He usually does various games in the RGR but his primary focus will be Christmas games.

If you have any questions, comments or feedback, go here:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=69922

Vizzed.com is looking for users who are willing to play games in the Retro Game Room and live stream themselves doing so. If you're not familiar with live streaming but are interested, sign up to http://www.twitch.tv/ and you can find out how to live stream and they'll also provide you the tools to live stream on their site.

You can stream yourself playing any game, do what you're interested in doing or what you think will get you viewers. You can stream yourself playing through a game, you can stream yourself playing Christmas games, you can stream yourself trying out rom hacks, you can stream yourself playing netplay games with others, etc.

I'll pay you 10,000 Viz a month if you do at least 10 hours worth of streaming games in the Retro Game Room. It'll be your responsibility to contact me once a month letting me know that you did the 10+ hours. This is a great opportunity for anyone to earn some Viz and to potentially make money off of twitch as well (you can earn money on twitch if you become popular enough). Most of you are already playing games in the RGR so why not stream yourself playing games while your at it and get rewarded? Also, if you do 25+ hours of streaming in a single month, I'll give you the Playstation item which gives you access to 100s of Playstation games on Vizzed!

List of Vizzed.com Streamers (all times based on central time zone)
lilwildwolf21: Weeknights from 8 PM - 12 AM
Davideo7: Random days and time

For those who don't know, many of the systems in the Retro Game Room support multiplayer netplay which allows you to play games in the RGR with others online. Supported netplay systems include:
-Nintendo NES
-Turbo Grafx
-Super Nintendo
-Sega Genesis
-Nintendo 64
-Sega Master System
-and PC-FX, SuperGrafx and Turbo Grafx CD

You can create netplay sessions if you have the Netplay Item (which can be purchased from the Item Shop for 10,000 Viz (I just dropped the price from 25,000 Viz). Once you have the item, you can go to a game's page, scroll half way down to the netplay area and create a session.

Anyone can join netplay sessions from the netplay page here:
https://www.vizzed.com/playonlinegames/netplaysessions.php

Once you get your account set up, tell me in the following thread where your twitch streams will be located and also tell me which days of the week and what time of day you'll be doing your streams and I'll advertise your stream right here in this thread for you:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=69017

As of Today, 12-06-13, Vizzed Board is 9 years old!

This year we've seen the site slowly start to migrate in different directions. We've seen the Video Game Room start to take off, I've introduced you all to some new features such as the Price Guide/Game Collection and the Contribution Point system and I've been putting some more focus on the forum itself as well. The Retro Game Room is of course still expanding as well with 7 systems added in the past year and well over 1000 new games added and plenty of new features to go along with them.

You can find the awards and additional anniversary information here:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=69588

I've put together a list of 39 Christmas games that can be played in the Retro Game Room:

Video Game Wish Lists
I've added a new feature to the site: Wishlist. This is a Video Game Room exclusive feature and it allows you to add games to your own Wishlist.

How to use it:
Go to the Video Game Room (link can be found at the top left of every page) and find a game. From the game's page, toward the top of the page right below the game's title you'll see a link that says 'Add to Wishlist'; click that and simply fill out the form. Your profile will than keep track of every game you would like to one day own and you'll be able to see the wishlists of other users as well (the link to a user's wishlist can be found at the top right of their profile).

Benefits of this feature:
-Helps you keep track of all the games you'd like to own someday
-If someone has a game in their Game Collection for sale that you add to your Wishlist, it'll notify that user that you want to own a game that they want to sell
-Likewise, if you add a game to your Wishlist and someone adds that same game to their Game Collection and also marks it as for sale, you'll be notified
-This feature can also help users find users to trade and borrow games with

If you want to see an example of what a Wishlist looks like, you can see mine here:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/profile.php?id=1&profile=wishlist

Win a Game that you've added to your Wishlist!
As a way to promote this feature and the Game Collection feature (and as a way to do something fun for Christmas), I'm giving away $100 worth of games as Christmas presents. So basically I will pick a random user who has added at least 1 game to their Wishlist and pick a random game from their list and buy them that game and send it to them as a Christmas gift (and they'll receive it before Christmas).

Rules:
1. You must have at least 1 game on your Wishlist. The more games you add, the better your chances are of winning but anything past 16 games wont increase your chances (but you're still encouraged to add more than 16 games if you have more than 16 games that you want).
2. Add every game that you physically own to your Game Collection. The more games you have in your game collection the better your chances are of winning but anything past 64 games wont increase your chances (but you're still encouraged to add more than 64 games if you really own more than 64 games). You can add games to your game collection either from the game pages of the Video Game Room or from the Batch Game Adder page)
3. Reply to this thread to apply: https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=69131

Tip:
My budget is $100 and I'll continue to give out games until my budget runs out. The games I give out will not exceed $60. I'll pick a random qualifying game from your list if you get selected. If the first person who wins gets a $60 gift, the 2nd person I pick would have to have a gift on their list worth $40 or less, otherwise I'll skip that person and move on to the next random person. I'll keep giving out gifts until my budget runs out so be sure to have cheap games on your Wishlist as well to increase your chances of winning something.

Offer ends on December 11th and that's also when the winners will be revealed.

If you have any questions regarding this new feature or the game offer, reply to this thread:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=69131

I've been working with a company that makes clear plastic boxes and I've ordered a huge quantity of what I'm calling game box protectors. You put your boxed games in the box protectors and it keeps it safe. I'm currently selling them on amazon as you can see here so they're currently only available to USA users. I'm selling box protectors for Nintendo NES, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance. The Game Boy box protectors also work for Virtual Boy. The SNES/N64 box protectors also work for Atari Jaguar. The NES box protectors also worked for the cardboard boxed Genesis and 32X games.

Here's links to the amazon pages and also images of what they look like:

Nintendo 64 / Super Nintendo Box Protectors

Nintendo NES Box Protectors

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E3OBDZ0

Game Boy Color/Advance Box Protectors

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E70AFOK

Free Samples Available:
If anyone is interested in receiving a free sample, there are 3 ways you can get one from me:
1. Take a picture of an actual boxed NES, GB, GBC, GBA, N64 or SNES game that you own as proof that you'd have a use for this box protector, make sure to write your username down on something and place it in the picture. Submit that picture to this thread.
or
2. Send me 1000 Viz
or
3. Be a staff member

I'm giving out only 1 sample per a user but if you haven't got a sample of my SNES/N64 box protectors yet, you can still qualify for a free sample of one of those.

If you do either of the top 3 things, I'll give you a $4 amazon gift card, enough to buy a sample of any of my box protectors, the only requirement is that you have to live in the USA. Be sure to let me know which one you want a sample of or if you want all 3. If you like the Box Protector, than please give me positive feedback on the amazon page.

I know there's a lot of game collectors on this site so I'm sure this will be of interest to someone. All profits that I make will go toward the site. I'm also selling other stuff in my store and plan to add more stuff to sell as seen here:
http://www.amazon.com/shops/vizzed

There's around 2 more months left to enter the Vizzed Pokemon Rom Hack Competition so there's still time to start creating your own Pokemon games. If you have a Pokemon hack in the works already but have never submitted it anywhere, finish it and submit it to this contest and it'll still count. For those who don't know, you can earn $200+ just for making a Pokemon hack for vizzed!

You can find out how to make Pokemon hacks here:

You can find all the information you need to participate here:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=62280

In a week from now, you'll no longer be able to retrieve screenshots that were taken more than a year ago. Screenshots that you've already submitted to a game page will be fine but you wont be able to edit their information anymore if they're over a year old.

This update is necessary so that users can no longer submit screenshots to the wrong game. A year ago I made an update to the way screenshots are handled and all screenshots after that update are being named correctly while the ones before that update were being named incorrectly which resulted into users being able to submit a screenshot to the wrong game but with the same name that the screenshot was taken from (so for example, if you took a screenshot of "Toy Story 2" for the Game Boy Color, the script would also allow you to submit that screenshot to the N64 "Toy Story 2" game page). After my update is finalized next week, this will permanently fix those issues.

For those who don't know, the site has been in the process of a migration over the past few months and in the past few days, that process has been finalizing. This migration was a mandatory hostgator migration and I'm real glad it's finally done. This also means that the site wont be going down at 6 AM (central time) every day due to backups, it'll only go down once a week now at that same time for a single weekly backup.

The Pokemon Rom Hacking competition deadline has been extended by 3 months. The deadline was originally October 16th, 2013 but the new deadline is January 21st, 2014. The reason for the extension is due to the lack of hacks submitted for the competition. With this extension, there's plenty of time to start making your own Pokemon hack and way more than enough time to finish any hacks you might have in progress for the competition.
