This month's High Score competition is for 'Sonic the Hedgehog 2' for the Sega Genesis. You can play it here:

The point of this competition is to get as high of a score as you can.


NEW RULE: You cannot unfairly get points or lives or use a glitch of any sort. If you find something that gives out unlimited points or lives, it will not count.

VIDEO REQUIRED: You must post a video of yourself accomplishing the score you submit. You must use the RGR Plugin's built in video recording capabilities. The video submission has to be a single video, it cannot be broken into parts so if you recorded it in parts, be sure to merge them into a single video.

RULES: You MUST play the game using the RGR Plugin in 'Timetrial Mode' and take a screenshot of your top score from that by pressing F6. To play in 'Timetrial Mode', scroll down the page where the highscores would appear, you'll see a link that says 'Click Here to Compete for Highscore', click that. Once you've taken your screenshot, click the link near that one that says 'Click Here to Submit your Score' to submit your score. The video must be uploaded to the vizzed youtube account. The video submission has to be a single video, it cannot be broken into parts.


Prizes:
1st = 10,000 Viz
2nd = 2,500 Viz
3rd = 1,000 Viz

Just to be on the safe side, might want to include a rule that states that you cannot manipulate any unlimited extra life loops. People manipulated that 1up that respawned after losing a life for the first Sonic game's highscore competition. I don't know if Sonic the Hedgehog 2 ha any spots like that, but it might be worth including.

To make this clear, you can only get points for something once per game?

example:

there is a spot where you can get 1,000 points over and over again.

if you got it more then once in a single run, it would be cheating?


and is there a limit on how compressed we can make the videos?

Instead of using the video capture in the RGR plugin do you think I could use camtasia recording studio because that uses already compressed mp4 format video, and I noticed that video in the rgr plugin use a lot of space up.

I might participate on this but, um there still somethings I don't know how, to do or understand.....

I'll particaptate and I already got my score finished. If you want proof, I'm 22nd place in the highscores.

Sonic is a game that I actually know how to play, so I might compete this time around.

  I wanna compete as well and I already posted my score. I had submitted a previous score but I didn't know if David07 would have accepted it since it was 8 hours long but the reason was I had to go somewhere and I had the game paused from 3 to 5 hours.

If this is open to Europeans and I knew how to record and take a snapshot I would like to give it a try not very good at Sonic games but should be fun to at least try

So I take it all of the past scores don't count?

I could probably do this though sometimes I mess up on the second Chemical Plant stage. The other stages I am usually fine will though that Eggman in the casino stage take forever to kill, I keep missing him.

rcarter2 : Ok I updated the rules to include that.

bombchu link : If you got the same points more than once unintentionally that's fine but if it's obvious that you're intentionally getting points or lives from the same thing multiple times, than that'll be considered a run that doesn't count.

There isn't an official limit on how compressed the videos can be but you probably shouldn't compress it too much because if it's crappy quality than no one will want to watch it and users watching it and rating it can also increase your chances of getting CP and Viz from the video.

firewave2981 : You could've used a program like Freemake to cut out the paused gameplay.

MechaMento : Past scores count if they have a video to go along with them.

Um, ok I read it again. um...its the part when you have to submit the screenshot and do the video as well. To be honest, I am still confuse a bit.

Maybe I shouldn't do it....Sorry my I find it hard to understand somethings. So I ask if someone can break it down for me, embarrassing as it may sound...

Eniitan : It's as simple as this:

1. Record a video of your high score run
2. Take a screenshot of your score once you get it
3. Be sure to follow the rules of the thread

bombchu link : For whatever reason, the RGR competitions have lacked a lot of participation over the past few months. There's been some competitions with only 2 entries. If it keeps up, I may only do 1 or 2 competitions a month from now on.

I was expecting some fierce competition. I even threw away my first try because I thought I did so badly.

Well at least you/staff won't have to watch 12 hours of video feed to make sure there wasn't any cheating.


Does this mean I win first, second, and third place?
