This is gonna be pretty long so be prepared. Maybe get some coffee or something to have on hand while reading this. I've never done this type of post before nor have I written one this long (Walkthroughs do not count) but I feel some issues in this forum need to be pointed out. The 2016 election seems to have messed up the atmosphere of the debate forum big time (Not just here but boards everywhere I assume)

Presidential election/candidates
--------------------------------

Now it's fine if you want to debate about the presidential election/candidates but I don't like to see it when users try to single out other users. I don't care who you support but as long as you're nice, you're my friend. Heck, I don't care if Davideo7 is a republican or a democrat as I will still use his site regardless of his political leanings. There's been a few examples where I was mini-flamed (Chewed out better suites this since bad words weren't really used) because I supported Hillary Clinton and they supported Trump (or someone else) who is supposedly this awesome guy who will improve our country. He will not as he is jumping straight from TV/Fashion/Real-estate into presidency with little to no knowledge of how this works. If you want to see some of the mini-flames go here and here It seems the 2016 election has really shown how idiotic some people are. I have seen some of their non-election threads/post and know they are 50-50. I have seen a 50/50 mix of Trump supporters and Hillary supporters on here posting. While I'm not bashing any of you guys, you just need to be more open minded and not single out someone because of who they support. I also suggest that you read the rules of this forum after you're done reading this. I want you to read them hard (I know some of you have read them already but it's still a good idea to review)

What needs to change here?
--------------------------

Some of this may be a repeat of what's above but it ties in to this. We need to change the atmosphere of the debate forum and for the good. We must NOT single out someone based on their beliefs or their political leanings, we must support their leanings/beliefs rather than just flame/mini-flame them, dislike their posts and unfairly take away their trust points (If the user in question can do that) Let's say if someone makes a post saying why they support Hillary Clinton and someone who supports Trump chews them out and dislikes the posts and unfairly takes away their trust points just because they hate Hillary Clinton? That would just be cruel to do and what if the ratings take away their trusted status? I can bet the user in question would be given a temp ban and have their trust points wiped with the affected user getting their taken TP back along with their position. Davideo7 did not design this site just so users can do this sort of sh*t (Sorry for the swear), he designed this site to be family friendly and as a place for users to come to to get away from real life for a while (whether it be family drama or whatever) If we all come together and make quality posts in this forum then some families wanting to register but decide against it after seeing this forum will reconsider and decide to register. We can all change this forum for the better and that's what I'd like to see here. Failure to do that may result in this forum getting disabled again (Like what David did six years ago in 2010) but let's hope that doesn't happen again.

Anything else
-------------

If you have anything that you'd like to add then please post (or edit this if you're a mod) I apologize for this being long but I just had to get this off my chest.

Definitions

If you're wondering what a mini-flame is, I'll define it now. I'll also include the flame definition as well in hopes it clears up any confusion about the mini-flame definition.

Flame: An argument in which lots of swear words are used. This thread is a great example of a flame.

Mini-flame: An argument with little to no swear words. Examples of this can be found in the thread links above (Not the one directly above this sentence but the ones a little farther up)

If the "mini flames" you are speaking of are the first replies from both Oldschool777 and darthyoda, those are not flames. Disagreeing with someone does not mean they are flaming you. In fact, I think a see more of a flame in this thread. "It seems the 2016 election has really shown how idiotic some people are." Sure, I know that Oldschool is harsh, but I'm sure he means well. (I hope)

The debate forum can be a hectic place, but that's how it goes when you're in debates. I see no problem with the Debate forum.

This isn't getting stickied. We hardly need a guide on debating.

Isn't calling someone else an idiot "mini-flaming?"

Let us do the modding around here. Most of us have been doing this for years. So, I am fairly sure we know what we are doing.
