In this forum goes any thread that relates to news items, politics, or any subject is likely to cause debate.
Rules & Guideline1)
No flaming : Most important of all of the guidelines. Do not aggravate someone to flame (trolling). You will be punished if you do.
2)
Be Open-Minded : Allow your mind to look at the “flip side” and see matters from other people’s point of view. This goes for all users, and if anyone feels that we (the mods) are being unfair or grossly biased in a thread then let us know by
PMing the mods.
Remember your opinion, no matter how backed up by facts, is equal to anyone's opinion.
4)
Don't get angry : No two people agree on everything, but why would another person’s opinion upset you? That is a sign of a very weak mind.
5)
Starting threads : Think well before you post if your thread is well explained, and if it start a good debate or discussion. You may not start thread "only for Christians" or "only for Canadians" or anything else that limits those "allowed" to post. Also you may not start threads too broad (for example, containing only the question: What do you think about freedom); sometimes called "catch all threads".
6)
Using sources : When you decide to use evidence from online articles to support yourself, follow these guidelines:
a) post the link
b) Take out specific quotes to support yourself.
c) Use these quotes to support your thoughts.
7)
Religion : We only allow one “God vs. No God”, “Creation vs. Evolution”, “Religion vs. Atheism”, or anything even a little related open at a time. If you start another thread like this while there is one open, it will be
deleted.
While it is okay for people to express their opinions from their personal religious point of view, you must accept that this is a debate forum and there are going to be people who disagree with you and your sources (religious texts). Don’t post in here if you don’t expect to be disagreed with.
Do not start conversations that are about Christian beliefs, they go in their
own forum.
8)
Libel: Please fact check before you make serious accusations or major statements, both for your sake and the sake of others.
For example:
If you start a thread about Bob the Senator because you have read somewhere how dishonest he has been. Many other users say horrible things about him in his thread, but in reality, your source material was not accurate.
What could happen is serious: say that Bob the Senator decides to Google himself and one of the search results is your thread. He reads what you said and how it's generated a lot of negative opinion of him. He can now legally sue you for libel (defamation of character in written form). He can also possibly go after Davideo7 for allowing the libel to be posted here on a highly trafficked website.
So please, verify before you accuse. Pay attention to your source when verifying.
So debate away, have fun, but remember:
If you can say nothing about a subject other than "this is wrong" or "this is so dumb!" then DON'T POST. If you do not provide an argument and calmly debate something, and instead rant or insult the idea/people who believe it, you will be warned and/or banned.
Thank you for your time.
