Christmas Day was going very well until the evening. Out of nowhere, my Dad was short of breath, and he had to be taken to the hospital. At first, doctors said he had a heart attack, but then they said it wasn't a heart attack, and instead he had a blood clot in his lungs... He was in the hospital until last night. I was so worried for the last few days, but I'm so thankful that he didn't pass away and he's now out of the hospital.

We had something similar happen in July, where my mom had 4 minor strokes at once due to a blood clot in her brain, so I know how you feel. Definitely one of the most scary moments of my life, we rushed her to the hospital right away.

My mom hasn't gotten better, it's been somewhere around three years now that she's been chronically ill (and we've never gotten a diagnosis). Thankfully it doesn't look like anything that'll be serious long-term, and we're learning more and more about what sets off her condition (whatever it is), so she's able to feel better by cutting most foods out of her life.

As for the strokes, she's mostly recovered, though she's got some memory issues that have stuck with her ever since. They're supposedly going to return eventually, not sure when though.
