I've been interested in post syndromes for a while now. For those not in the know, post syndromes are those colourful little passages to the right of a post ("Affected by X"). You attain them by getting a certain number of posts in 24 hours. The "hierarchy" can be seen here: https://www.vizzed.com/boards/controlpanel.php?category=help&help=terminology&name=Syndromes#Syndromes

Notice how the almighty VIZZED Syndrome requires attaining 875 posts in a day? Let's crunch some numbers:

24*60=1440

875/1440=0.61 (approximately)

That means getting VIZZED Syndrome requires you to get 0.61 posts per minute, for the whole day. But not everyone will have that time. Let's see what you'd need to do in a 12-hour span:

12*60= 720

875/720=1.22 (approximately)

Now you have to post more in a shorter time frame. Lets try for something further down the chain, like Lucky 777 Syndrome, which requires obtaining 777 posts in a 24-hour period. Solve for both 24 hours and 12 hours like before and it comes to 0.54 and 1.08 posts per minute needed, respectively.

All of this begs the question, can such high syndromes be attained (with completely legitimate posts relevant to the topic at hand- no spamming) on Vizzed? Could it have been attained a couple years back when the board was more active? I believe the highest syndrome attained was Veneeval Syndrome, back in that era.

Boxia : Although it's near impossible, I'm sure it will be hit at some point. I think you're correct, Veneeval syndrome is the current highest. I'm not the rapidest of posters, but I've hit 114 posts in one day before, barely enough to get Official Post Spree.

Actually, the highest syndrome ever reached on vizzed is Veneeval Syndrome+, by legacyme3 (who reached 360 posts in a day) and zanderlex (who reached 450 posts in a day). legacyme3 reached it back when the TdV didn't exist, but zander reached it during a TdV. He won the blue jersey that day, of course

I'm pretty sure that the really high syndromes can't be reached during a day without spamming a ton. It was amazingly difficult enough for zanderlex to reach 450 posts without spamming, and I'm pretty sure he actually spammed a few times without me realizing it. It seemed that most of his posts weren't spammy though, so that isn't a problem.

I don't think the 875 posts one is possible, unless you use Snow's old method, where you have a bunch of tabs up, and you have your posts planned out for like a month. I think that David needs to adjust some of them, to be honest.

There's no way I'll ever get Veneeval or the almighty Vizzed Syndrome. I've never even made 100 posts in a day before though I've come very close.

I personally think it isn't possible to get 875 in a day and like the math you provide in the first post, it's impossible to get it.

Even for me, the record I hold I think was 115 posts in a single day (back in July 2013's TdV), and the record holder (not assisted by TdV) is Legacyme3 with 360 posts which isn't even half of 875.

I personally think that the syndrome system needs major updating.

Like having it go in these numbers between non-TdV months and TdV months...

0 Posts
1-4 Posts (1-9 posts in TdV)
5-9 Posts (10-49 posts in TdV)
10-24 Posts (50-99 posts in TdV)
25-49 Posts (100-199 posts in TdV)
50-99 Posts (200-299 posts in TdV)
100-199 Posts (300-399 posts in TdV)
200+ Posts (400+ Posts in TdV)

Is it possible to get 875 in a day? Yes.

Is it possible to get 875 in a day without spamming? No.

The question of what is and isn't spam, is usually quite subjective, but if we do the math, and assume a poster only has 12 hours to get 875 posts (12*60 = 720, 875/720 = 1.22 posts per minute).

At 1.22 posts per minute, you are effectively forcing yourself to constantly be typing, without stopping, and having something relevant to say to each and every single post on the site, and then some, because of the relative inactivity of the board, which I will get into later.

Just assuming there is an endless stream of threads to post in, you would be pushing yourself to physical limits to have a chance at the feat, to get 1.22 posts per minute (or roughly 72/73 in an hour?) you need to have the perfect combination of fast typing speed (+80 WPM, perhaps?) interesting threads (to compel you to keep going), and perfect site conditions (no slowdown, no lag, no downtime).

Even if all those align, is it possible to do it without spamming?

Here's where it gets tricky.

This is a TDV month, where activity is at an all time high for the site. Despite this, the site has posted a total of only 368 times in the past 24 hours. The entire site.

To hit 875 in these conditions, you would have to post twice for every one post made by somebody else, and then a little extra on the side (So actually, roughly 2.38 times per each post).

Even with the ability to comment on each thread 2-3 times, without sandwiching, and having a support group who wants to see you achieve the goal, it would be impossible without more threads being opened up.

As it stands, only a little over 100 threads were active in the past day, during the spammiest months of the year. To get to 875, you'd have to not only revive older threads (a social no-no in some cases), but create entirely new ones that aren't duplicates of existing, open threads. To create a thread can take serious thought, which you are not alloted within the time frame given. If you are to do 1.22 posts per minute, you cannot afford to spend time thinking about what threads you are going to create.

Potentially, you could write up 800 thread ideas on paper, and then just shotgun them out, but that's kind of cheating, and is against the spirit of the post spree (When I accomplished the first ever Veneeval+ way back, I didn't pre-game, I just decided to go for it and got it, although I had more than 12 hours at my disposal).

I'm inclined to believe 875 posts, without spamming, is physically impossible for someone who only has 12 hours. Even if you gave them the full 24 hours, it would seemingly be impossible in these conditions.

To accomplish 875, without spamming, you'd need to "cheat", and to me, that's like not accomplishing the milestone at all.

IgorBird122 :

Actually, zanderlex holds the record with 450 posts, but I think even he would admit he was super spammy that day.

I am the record-holder in the pre-TDV days, however, which I think of as much more important, due to the sheer difficulty in those days.

Edit - I didn't see Igor's comment about non-TDV assistance. See, this is the type of thing I was talking about in my post, to achieve a milestone, you'd miss out on details like that, and your posts would come out worse for it.

I do plan on hitting 500 some day.

The trick is, as leggy stated, no spamming. A way of looking at it is that you would have to post in the 17 threads in each of the non-rented non-restricted forums to get 500 posts... and that's only 500.

legacyme3 : How I did it, I scaled it with detail and if the user is only doing it for TdV. During non and pre TdV months, I give users posting 100% effort and during TdV, I only give 50% effort (means divide by 2).

so, how I did it, Zander may have posted 450 posts, but remember, that was TdV month, that means it was half effort which means in reality, that is 225 posts of effort, don't take that the wrong way because when I posted 105 posts in July 2013, I basically only made 53 posts of effort (because it being TdV month).

But with your 360 posts, that was made before TdV existed, means that is 100% effort which means you made 360 posts of effort.
_

So, this is how I look at it

(non-TdV & Pre-TdV)
Total Posts = Posts of effort

(TdV month)
Total Posts / 2 (TdV penalty) = Posts of effort

It really seems impossible to achieve Vizzed syndrome. Repeating the feat leggy and zander did of achieving Veneeval+ can be done, but the question is: who can do it?

We know that, the higher your rank, the more forums you have access to. Newbies can only access the general board, members have access to the majority of, if not all, rented forums. Trusted and Elite have a few restricted forums to access, and what about staff.

The math is easy: 0,5 posts per minute to get leggy's mark of 360 posts in 12 hours. Using this as a starting platform, we see that 1 post per minute awards you 720 posts in 12 hours. Of course, the more threads you can post in, the higher chances to get it, but you still must show a decent quality at posting, and obviously not spamming. In my opinion, impossible to do without reading a little about what the thread/forum is about in the same day you post.

But talking about syndromes, can I introduce to you the mighty Yahmonners syndrome? It stands between Veneeval+ and Lucky 777 syndromes, but the exact post count needed to attain it is unknown. Is this a bait for anyone aiming for the Lucky 777 syndrome? Or do we all know the exact value, but nobody dares to write it for obvious reasons?

Wow. Maybe the most posts I've gotten in a single day was probably 50. I couldn't think about getting 100, 200, 350, 450, 777, or 850. I feel that without spamming, it's gonna be pretty hard to make that many posts.

When the stars align and the planets become one, sure.

But I think it just might be possible. Given the proper and perfect conditions, it might just be.
No site lag, slow down or down time, given the full 24 hours to do so, during the TdV and having people help you with it by making new, none-spammy threads, then it could. You are going to spam a bit, but it's to be expected.
Around .61 post per minute average. Or 1.2 posts ever two minutes. So, 6 posts every 10 minutes or so, is quite a stretch.

Technically with this on the computer, it is possible. One possibility would be to use multiple computers and multiple tabs to be opened up and to pre-type a certain amount of posts before posting them. Now there are some threads that are not created to make it easy to post like that, because they require back and forth conversational approaches, but there are some threads on here that are simply posting your thoughts, and then you leave it alone forever. These threads you can just pre-type your responses.

Now, if there is anyone who actually care that much to achieve such a goal to reach those syndromes, that would be a different story.

IgorBird122 : The TDV shouldn't have anything to do with it once you get to a really high post count for a day. That's because people who aren't competing are the only ones who can do this. Lets say you just want to go for 200 posts during a TDV, you're going to have to already know that you wont be able to compete after, because you would need to let a few days pass beforehand to let the board fill up, and then after that day, you will have posted everywhere and wont be able to compete anymore

Take me for example, when I broke the record, it was during the first week of the tdv, and I had to completely drop out of the tdv after that, don't think I could even make 5 posts in a day for a whole week after that. So doing this during the tdv would be a lot harder than you think.

Although I don't think I've seen anyone get Vizzed syndrome since I've been a member I'm sure there are people that could technically do it if they wanted to.

I think the highest I've ever gotten is OPS and Ravering a handful of times. Those were a long time ago though in the first year or two I was a member of this site.

I personally hope no one ever tries to go that high, even if some people have gone for comparable amounts. Going for just 10% of that can often require you to be a bit spammy, that would just clog up the board.

Is it possible? Probably not, since I doubt you could go that whole day without being spammy, or getting too worn out to continue. but you could probably get pretty high. Maybe if you make very short and generic posts since that would make it so you can post something in every thread even those you may not actually have much interest in, as well as making a bunch of threads yourself. Would probably call for some preparation beforehand though.
