Hey there, people from the land of V! Green here with another Skewl thread! First of all, I haven't done any updates on my World War 7 thread, but so far, in the 2nd Trimester, I improved a LOT. Anyway, back to the thread. So, everyone has high and low grades, right? Here's the question: How do you feel when you get the lowest grade? Usually, I feel pretty bad and embarrassed. But, I always say this to myself "I'll do much better next time." Unless, in some cases, the lowest grade was a 17, and the highest one was 20, for example. In that case, I'll feel alright, since 17 is a high grade. So, I'm curious about you guys, how do you feel when you get the lowest grade?

When I was in school, I always get low grades and it doesn't bother me at all, especially in high school. I do manage to keep my grade at "D" level so I can at least. Pass that grade, it's either that or the teachers are sick and tired of dealing with me and have someone else deal with me.

I don't know how to say this without bragging but I'll try.  I take a lot of pride in all my work, even as a kid, and I never got low grades.  I wasn't the best or the smartest guy in the room but I put a lot of effort into doing everything as best I could.  I have no idea what it is like to be in last place with grades.  I wasn't in the fancy advanced classes so there were always folks who didn't do as well as me.

I'm sure I'd be embarassed that I failed the teacher and I didn't do as well as I could have if I were in last place.

Or if it were a curve and I got 85% but I was last?  That's okay.

I never get the lowest grade, no matter how bad I do in the exams or the quizzes. There would always be someone lower so I'm not really sure how I'd answer your question. :-

This is a hard question to answer, because even when I did "poorly" (C as opposed to a B or an A), I was never the lowest scoring kid in any class.

It wasn't that I was smart or the classes were easy, or that I particularly cared. I just never found myself as the lowest scoring student in a class, there were always people complaining about getting a D or an F on a test (I usually aced my tests) or how their parents would kill them for only getting a D that quarter, but grades in general never concerned me.

I figure even if I did fail and was the lowest scoring student that it wouldn't bother me.

It's only a grade arbitrarily assigned to tell you and your parents your progress as a student. They mean jack s***.

warmaker :

Sounds like you were the exact opposite of me at least in terms of how much effort we put in. I never really got the point of trying hard in school (I mean, it makes no ultimate difference to me if I graduate with honors or if I graduate barely, either way, I graduated, and I'm out of school). It's one thing to take pride in my work, generally I do. It's another to take pride in something that I never felt mattered.

If I have the lowest possible grade, then I most likely did something wrong, though its all based on your environment. I took the specialized Hugh school exam and got the highest grade out of my entire middle school but came nowhere near passing it. If I have the lowest, I must have failed obviously, and I don't want that to happen.

I don't really remember a time when I got the lowest grade in the class. Recently, we had a subject and predicate quiz in language arts class, and I got a 65. I was a bit sad because it later affected my grade (dropped from high 90s to an 81), but there were probably multiple people who got low grades. I asked my friend what he got, and apparently he got a 25. My lowest grade ever must have been that 65, or probably somewhere in the mid-40s to low-50s. That could've been my lowest grade, because I never remember getting anything lower than a 40. Hopefully, that never happens.

I usually don't get the lowest grade, but when I get a lower grade than many of the people that I know I tend to feel that I could have done something better in order to improve the score, for example, recently I got a 60% on my last history test (like most others) however, there were a few people who got 80-90% so I felt like I was left out and I did something wrong, so I re-read the chapter and then I asked my teacher to let me retake the test since he allows retakes. Feeling bad about a low grade is a good motivator to doing better, so if you ever do bad on a grade and you have the desire to improve the score try to maybe study more or retake the work that you got a low score on it will make you feel better. I recently have started improving my study habits in order to get rid of any regrets that I might have when I complete my work. If you work for a score that you are satisfied with it will definitely pay off.

Eh, I felt pretty bad when I would get low grades. And I got a lot of those in public school. In home school it was a lot more intriguing and I was able to make A and Bs. When I worked trying to get my GED I made a few mistakes along the way but I knew I just needed to study a little harder and I would get it the next time

To be honest, I've gotten a bunch of bad grades on things (Ds, Fs) so it doesn't matter much to me. I'd be lying if i said I didn't feel a little bad. School has always been hard for me. But, I've been improving. It feels really good to get high grades on things. If you get a bad grade, it doesn't matter because you can always improve.

It kind of sucks when I get the lowest grade. I try not to let it bother me, but since I have the highest average in my entire school, everyone goes crazy and makes a big deal out of it whenever I get lower than them, even if I get a 99 and they get a 100 .

Honestly when I was in school, I never really had bad grades. I think the worst grade I ever had was a C- on some history test. (That was my weakest subject) I never had the worst grade in my class, but I was pretty hard on myself when I didn't get an A on a test that I felt confident about, or if I got lower than a B- on a homework assignment or test. If I would've ever had the lowest grade in my class though, I would've been livid and humiliated, and I wouldn't have wanted to show my face to anyone for awhile.

I don't necessarily feel that bad when I get the lowest grade. Well, if it's in Algebra. If I get a low grade in any other subject, I feel sort of bad. But, not to the point where I cry. I am mostly known in algebra to be stupid, so it's alright. Of course, not that stupid, it's just some topics I just don't plain understand. Like, substitution and elimination with equations. I hate that with a passion.

To be honest, I would always get a little disappointed when I get a low grade and even more disappointed in myself when I get the lowest grade of all.  It's not to the point where I would cry.  Usually getting low grades on something would always give me more motivation to do more better on assignments.

I can't honestly remember if it ever happened to me...

But if it did, it must have been in college in one of those classes I had to take just because. If so, then I don't feel the least ashamed because I just HATE THE CLASS!! Besides it's only a temporary set down; letting a failure go to my head will simply make me fail more.

I've never gotten the lowest grade in a class, but I have gotten the 'lowest grade' on my own personal scale when it comes to tests and quizzes, and believe me, I invariably feel horrible about it. Maybe I set my own standards too high or something, I don't know, but getting a low grade on my own scale makes me want to cry, even if those around me are telling me it's a good grade and I should be proud of myself.

The lowest I've ever gotten was a C. A 78 on a 5 chapter accounting test. I wanted to beat my head against the wall when I got that, even though it was one of the higher grades in the class. (That particular test was a baaaaaaaad one.) I did actually come home and cry after that one because I was so frustrated with that grade. Luckily, the professor gave us extra credit to do on the computer, and there were enough points to get my grade up to an A because I got all the extra credit stuff RIGHT, but the initial grade still made me sick and upset.

I try to avoid getting bad grades by any means possible, even it means spending long amounts of time studying the material over and over again. This year has been the worst for me. Chemistry is the hardest class I've ever taken and I really regret taking it with a passion. The teacher says 3 words and hands out quizzes everyday on newly learned material and bad grades just start adding up. Other than chemistry, my grades this year have been pretty strong.

I always get down and criticize myself when I receive low grades on assignments and then I always reflect and reminisce on how I could've done a better job preparing. I know senior year will be a lot better though.
