Pokemon is a huge thing now, and it has multiple forms of media now.
So I became curious. What was your first experience with Pokemon? When? Did you like it at first, or did it grow on you?
My first experience was actually with the anime. I loved it to bits as a child. It was cute, funny, and awesome. I probably started getting really into it by 5 or so? By the time I got my first trading cards, I was hooked!
Now it's your turn! How did you get started?

Pokemon has always been big.

My first experience was with the GameBoy game. My cousins had a Gameboy and I didn't, so I would get excited when I had a chance to play games on their gameboy. And since the "hip" game during that time on the Gameboy was pokemon, I was attracted to it. I didn't fully understood the game or beat the whole thing till when I was older, but it had a lasting memory in my mind. It was then that I got into the trading card game (the cards only. The game wasn't till later when I actually played the gameboy game to understand it) then the anime, then I looked into some of the manga.

I can remember my first experience perfectly. My dad and I were walking down the street somewhere and we stopped at a garage sale and they were selling old systems and we bought 2 old Game Boy Colors for 15 dollars I think. Right after that we went straight to Gamestop in Ozone Park and I studied the GB games for almost an hour and we ended up getting Pokemon Gold which was about the same price as the systems then and I have been playing with that one game for years. This happened maybe 15 years ago but it was an awesome expericne that got me interested in Pokemon.

I think my very first was when I got my first teeth pulled when I was 6 at the Dentist's. I was told to pick a movie while my teeth were gonna get pulled because it was going to take an hour or two, so I picked the first thing I saw, and it was a VHS with some Pokemon episodes on it.

My first experience with Pokemon came with the games! The games to this day are my favorite thing about Pokemon. I also really enjoyed the anime until battle frontier at that point the anime really went downhill for me... I never got into the trading card games that much though I did enjoy the Pokemon Trading Card game for the GBC that game's very fun it's still one of my favorite spinoff games in the series.

Lets see....to be honest I wasn't able to play the games fully back then because I was told. I'm a girl who shouldn't be playing games. Then the tv anime series came out on tv! That was my adventure. Then so along the years they allowed me to play pokemon games. While I still watched the good old pokemon anime on tv. What now bothers me today about it is that. pokemon has lost its original plot of what it was meant to be. Ash going to catch them all right? And be the best he can be? Where is that now? Gone that's what. In comes different plot and diverting what ash was actually meant to be as.

As gamerforlifeforver has said it went down from battle frontier. pokemon is something else now. Back in the day you got taught many things of the hardship you went through such as bulling and more. pokemon and some anime back then was the one to encourage to say otherwise about it.

*I wanna be the very best that no one ever was.*
*To catch them is my real test, to train them is my cause.*
*Will travel across the land searching for and wide.*
*Each pokemon to understand the power that's inside.*

Second lyrics

*Every challenge along the way with courage I will face.*
*I will battle everyday to claim my rightful place.*
*Come with me the time is right there's no better team.*
*On and on we'll win the fight its always been our dream.*

That is why I loved pokemon then. That is why I love sailor moon. Those animes taught you something about life! Not all anime today does that. I still do try and look out for animes that have good plots and teaches about life to you. Which is why I go back to watching animes that I watched when I was younger.

the lyrics had meaning. Saying for you to stop crying and better yourself and to be strong as well. When I watch anime. I have more in depth of what I would say about the good and bad of it. Right now in my opinion is bad. But that's today's generation. The games are still there not bad. But, the series itself is bad. That is why I watch anime that influences you.

I rest my case that is my story and experience with pokemon.

For me, it was the TV Series.
Along with YU-GI-OH, it was the TV series that I grew up with.
I use to have a video tape that kept a lot of episodes on it before I lost it. I remember watching at least a little bit of each series but I was really into the first (Kanto) series.

My first literal experience with Pokemon was when I was 7 or 8, and my cousin Green showed me a YouTube video of the first episode of the anime .

The first Pokemon experienced I actually liked and got me into the series was when I was 10, when I got HeartGold and fell in love with it ^^!~

Gamin'Gal : My first experience with Pokemon was anime, too, and I was like 5 or 6 when I first discovered it. I found it really funny. and cute :3. Then, a few years later, I tried the games. My first one is Emerald, and that game means a lot to me. With the games, I grew my interest on that franchise more. Now, I have Alpha Sapphire, and I'm enjoying it !

NintendoFanKimmy : "when I got HeartGold and fell in love with it ^^!~"  Kimmeh and HeartGold, I now pronounce you Husband and wife. You may kiss the bride

The very first time I have experience with the Pokemon series was actually the anime series on T.V. sometime in late 1999, because I haven't played the first Pokemon video game (which was Pokemon Red) until late 2000. I have liked Pokemon between 1999 to 2004, but I took a decade long hiatus from the series due to personal reasons (mostly involving being bulling in school), but I have came back to the series in 2014 all thanks to DeviantART and IGN which got me re-interested into the series with the game Pokemon X / Y.

So, the anime got me interested from the start, but the games and artwork got me re-interested in the Pokemon series.

First was probably the TCG or the anime. Not sure which. I miss when the anime was good. As soon as Misty left, my interest dwindled. I used to play the TCG at Toys R Us a lot. I still have my Pewter City and Cerulean City badges.

My first experience with Pokemon was actually the Gen 2 game, Pokemon Gold. My cousin let me play it, and I was stuck with it. She later gave it to me as a birthday present, and I was so happy. I still have that exact copy to this day, in fact.

Way back then, I didn't even know what Pokemon was, and I didn't know the first thing about it. However, I'll never forget when the Pokemon Red and Blue games came out in the fall of 1998, which I believe was around the same time the Game Boy Color came out. The very first time I ever interacted with anything that had to do with Pokemon was the Blue version game. The first Pokemon I ever owned was a Squirtle, and the first Pokemon I ever caught was a Pidgey. It wasn't until Pokemon Gold and Silver came out that I finally got a Pokemon to level 99 ( which was a Dewgong ).

The first time I was introduced to Pokémon was the anime. I was three years old when I first saw the original series. As soon as I discovered that there were Pokémon trading cards, I knew I had to get a pack and my first holo was a Clefable. When I turned five years old, I received a Gameboy Advance SP and Pokémon Sapphire. Since that day, Pokémon has played a vital role in my life and has served as a hobby for a long time.

It would have to be when I was about 7 years old.  After a long and drawn out battle in my broken home, my mother, sisters and I moved to a new city.  My father eventually was allowed to see me by the courts and during his visit he gave me a game boy advance and Pokemon Crystal.  As small a gift as it may seem, it fueled my love for the franchise, got played for hundreds of hours, good times were spent with that GBA.

Oh, this looked like an interesting one, so...
When I has 8 or so, my neighbor, a few years older, have me six Pokemon cards.
Three Charmander, Two Charmeleon, and Team Magma's Groudon.
He, of course, had his own full deck, and beat me every time, until another freind gave me a Charizard, Bulbasaur line, and I bought a Feraligator and Typhlosion tin.
Then he went to High School and didn't have any more time for little old me. D-:
Then, later, I saw a commercial for Heartgold and Soulsilver and. I though, "You know, I bought a DS lite recently, and my freinds play pokemon(thank you SMBLOZ123), so why not?
I WAS A HARDCORE NOOB!
But I'm better now, and 15, so now I have a few TCGs, and of course I have my Pokemon games.
So thank you life. And thank you for this card...

My first experience with Pokémon was when I first saw it on television. I watched some episodes of it and liked it but the team rocket nonsense got old fast. I was more into Digimon, Zoids, and Monster Rancher at the time. Pokémon kinda grew on me and I kept watching it off and on.

My first experience with Pokémon was with the anime when it was in Hoenn. However, I have watched a lot of the Kanto and Johto episodes as well. My first experience with a Pokémon game was Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky. I got hooked to the game and then started playing trainer rpg games such as Heart Gold, Pearl, White, and Retro Game Room games.
