I'm Linkums, as you can see.

I got here by finding a 2 year old post by David on another forum asking about a translation patch for Itadaki Street 2. I offered to make an English translation guide and now I ended up here.

Interesting stuff about me:
-I have a B.A. in Japanese and started teaching myself Japanese in high school in order to play Japanese video games.
-I'm currently unemployed apart from doing odd jobs for people, giving private Japanese lessons, selling stuff on ebay/craigslist, and getting pennies in ad revenue from blogging and Youtube.
-The main reason for my unemployment, besides college not adequately preparing me for the workforce, is treatment resistant depression which I've had since 2006ish.
-As for blogging, I'm the author of What They Call Games (http://whattheycallgames.blogspot.com). Maybe you've heard of it. Probably not though.
-I've also had my writing featured on College Humor (http://www.collegehumor.com/article/6926573/8-unflattering-descriptions-of-popular-video-games) and The Huffington Post (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/09/lifelong-friend-craigslist_n_4071772.html).
-I'm a Christian
-My other hobbies and interests include: gaming, linguistics (apart from Japanese, I've briefly studied Chinese, Sanskrit, Spanish, and American Sign Language), listening to music (primarily instrumental stuff, soundtracks, Japanese and Korean rock/pop, and celtic stuff), and photography (http://linkums.deviantart.com/gallery/ ).
-My dream for the future is to invent a shrinking machine and live my life as a Borrower.

Those are interesting things that I did not know about you. So you made those comics on College Humor?

When I have the budget I'll most likely hire you to translate some other Japanese only games on vizzed becuase there are a lot of good ones that have never been translated.

Davideo7 : About the College Humor thing, I sort of did. I submitted the concept as these paint drawings: http://whattheycallgames.blogspot.com/2013/05/8-unflattering-depictions-of-well-known.html
And they wanted to use the idea for the post but thought the paint drawings were too rudimentary, so they hired someone else to make professional art for it and kept my captions and concept.

Linkums : You're still responsible for the humor behind them though. They were pretty funny

That's a lot of interesting stuff about you and I am very impressive with that. You seem have quite the skills and reputation I must say especially for knowing Japanese.

juuldude : Seems pretty cool so far! It reminds me of back in high school when I ran a Nintendo forum with some friends, only Vizzed has way more bells and whistles. And I can't resist the allure of collecting internet points and clicking on notifications.

Linkums : Haha, there sure are a lot of fanatic gamers here, which gives the feeling of a game site

Not sure why you'd want to be a borrower i hear their mortality rates are very high especially when it comes to accidental deaths... 

Either way welcome to the site, You seem to be very into Eastern Culture, which i know a few people on this site would probably talk you to death about. 

Not sure if you ever mentioned what games you are actually interested in playing so it'd be nice to actually find out more about the genres of games you prefer and such...

Also nice that you dabbled in American Sign Language.. I tried learning Sign Language as well but i gave it up after a short while as i was too bust to really concentrate my attention to it...

Well, I was wondering who you were. You came out of nowhere that day with your walkthrough. I thought you were some random newbie with a random copy and paste guide. Man, was I wrong. 

You seem like a pretty cool guy. You should come in chat some time. 

sonicmcmuffin : As a borrower, everyday stuff would be an adventure! And climbing things is fun.

As for what games I like, I try to play the widest variety of games that I can and appreciate them as an art form. Even though I try to play a variety, I don't really tend to like sports games and don't play many shooting games either, to be honest. I mostly end up playing indie games, 1st party Nintendo games, platforming games, RPGs, and that sort of thing. Overall, my favorite games are probably Super Smash Bros. (the whole series), Portal 2, Pokemon (series), Kirby (series), and LittleBigPlanet.

Well, that's a really unique story on how to end up here in my opinion. Anyways welcome to the site, it took me a while to remember what a borrower is, but I hope you can fulfill that dream *Cough Cough never will hapenn Cogh Cough*

If you have any questions, there are plenty of users who wouldn't mind to help you out and there are a ton of things for you to do here, so I hope that you have a great time, and look at that, you're already winning a competition.
