Simply put the next gen systems are not as impressive as I had hoped. I have played on an Xbox One and while the UI was cool and the kinect was great, I really didn't see a lot of improvement in terms of graphics and gameplay.?

I'm still having high hopes that this generation will get better with time, but for right now I'm sticking with my Wii, PS3, and Xbox 360.

   I believe the systems of modern video gaming are extremely complex. Fortunately, they cause me to remain entertained and that is all that really matters.

I personally feel as if they could have been a lot more powerful, considering how PC's are eons more advanced than them now, which isnt a good thing because each generation should catch up with them. They improved quite a bit though, which is good enough.

With the PS4 leading in power, workability and likability, and with the Wii U leading in amount of fun and good exclusives, it seems promising.

I am really looking forward to the Wii U because Nintendo is going back to their origins of game formulas. Nintendo land is great. It's not neccesarilly the technology that get's me excited, but the returning to origins.

And always wait 2 years after release before saying whether a console has good games on it or not.

There are no games for the Xbox One or PS4

TristanTehGamer1 : Well, the Wii U didn't have games at first either. Neither did systems like the 3ds.
    I don't think we will be sure how this generation will go for a while. One of the reasons I think the Wii U, in a world where it wasn't hated on for some reason, would be selling best. The PS4 and Xbox are systems that are supposed to be like PCs, while the Wii U is more of a classic console that is made for games that have some different gameplay elements using the gamepad or Wii remotes. I feel this is partly how the Wii was able to outsell the Xbox 360 and PS3. The PS4 and Xbox each have some small "gimmicky" things, like the Kinnect and trackpad thing, but I don't know how much they can really be built around like the Wii remote could.

Well you haven't seen any improvement because you have not played the PS4 all those other consoles were a bunch of crap in a junk yard that is not worth 300-400$ I know it stinks but those consoles are crap get the PS4 and then make a thread a bout new consoles if you want to give a good opinion try all of the consoles.
 

This new generation is already looking great from a "the console didn't backfire" standpoint.. But I think we've reached the point where the improvements are likely going to be in physical oddities and gimmicks, due to the fact that from a hardware standpoint it's going to be difficult to make any real advancements for now.

I wish they would stop with the gimmicks really.Adding so many features that have nothing to do with games for the average people and raising the price because of these useless features caused me to switch to PC.Ever since games went mainstream stuff like this has been happening and it really bugs me to see my childhood pastime slowly go away.

I prefer the Xbox One to get that cleared out of the way. I have played both consoles for a decent amount of time but I do prefer the controller and Xbox Live features and the Console exclusives.

What do I think of next generation? I don't like it much.
Games have lost the sense of being basic. There are all of these new feature to try and enhance gameplayer with the next gen consoles and you cant just blame the Wii U with the silly controller and the Xbox One with the Kinect because the Playstation has it's fair share of "revolution" too.
All I want to do when I game is pick up a controller and boom! Play a game. And let's face it, it is not just me. There are many people who use Wii controllers on their Wii U's and no one really cares about the Kinect, Does having Motion sensors and Track pads really improve my gaming experience when it was fine last generation. 
All a console needs is good navigation and of course good games and useful apps.

TristanTehGamer1 : I can understand your complaint, but I have to say the same thing I told everyone when they were saying that the WiiU had no games: give it time. New systems always take a while to get a decent amount of games on them, because they're new. In a few months that will change. I believe Sony promised around seventy titles within the first four or five months, though I could have the time frame wrong. But yeah, no worries, man. We'll have some good games in a few.


I also have to agree with the others that said that all that matters is if we're entertained. I think people are putting far too much stress on what features the consoles have, and not enough focus on how good the games are. As a result, we get stupid gimmicks like "talk to your console and it will record your game" or "watch tv on your conaole" (which also happen to be things that no gamer EVER asked for), while the market fills up with copycat shooter games, and games with no personality or qualities that set them apart from the crowd of clones. All a system really needs is to be able to play newer and better quality games than the last generation did. That's it. Why are the console makers adding more features to their product than the game makers are? It makes no sense to me.

In the end, I'm perfectly happy with the new gen, because they play games. That's all that I ask. lol

I have to say I'm really disappointed in the Xbox one as it stands now. I think they incorporated the Kinect into it way too much. It should be more of an optional thing like it was with the 360. Also they didn't have enough games out at release. All in all I'm really disappointed and I won't be getting it until they completely stop making the games for the 360 or they change dramatically change the direction they're heading

Overall, I'd say that the current* generation of gaming consoles is pretty awesome. New improvements in graphics and functionality are big pluses. I wish that there could be more games released at the present, but I am well aware that games take time to make, and I'll still probably hold off on buying a new system for a while. Waiting for X to release on the Wii U, and Infamous, The Witcher, and The Order on the PS4. I feel like 2014 is going to be pretty great for the new systems, and yes, they could be better, but then where would our cost efficiency go, there has to be a happy medium, and I think that they've found it (for the most part).
