I have purchased the 3DS on it's launch date, alongside Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition and Asphalt 3D. I also went to the launches for:

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Mario Kart 7
New Super Mario Bros. 2
Call of Duty: Black Ops II

I have never really done this much because I feel just waiting the extra few weeks when the price drops is the wiser option. However there are games that you are just bursting to get you just have to purchase it on the day or pre-order it. Personally preordering is better because it is also cheaper so most of the list below are from pre-orders Here is my own list... (not in order)

I have never purchased a video game on launch date.  I'm generally pretty patient, so I wait for sales before buying.  This has caused my Steam library to burst at the seams as a result.  It's been well worth it.

Now that I think about it, I believe I've only bought 2 video games at launch: TLoZ: TWW & Pokemon Y. I had both of those reserved. There are a few more that I have bought new but never at launch. I mostly go for the used ones.

I bought pokemon x and y on their launch date, I have enjoyed it ever since. I know a lot of people and a lot of my friends pre ordered them or just bought them on their release date. I haven't bought many games from their launch.. the only one I can really think of is The Sims 3 when it first came out. I am low on money and have a lot of financial problems so I have to be careful with games I buy.. I never by first launch games anymore.
