Do you get attached to the Pokemon you train endlessly? The ones you put hours of training in? Who helped clinch the win against an E4 member? Who helped you sweep a few Gyms, and even help with type disadvantages?

Or do you just train whomever and they're just game data to you. Just another Pidgey out of the thousands, or just like any other Sentret?

For me, I only get really attached to the people in my main party. And the people who rotate in. Obviously I won't only use 6, but i usually only have like a maximum of 12 or so I really like. Everyone else is just breeding material or filling up the Pokedex

I can not say I get attached to the pokemon.   Not at all, though I do tend to get angry if I loose to many times and I remember wanting to toss the game boy across the room a few times.

I always get attached to the Pokémon I train. Sometimes it gets hard to level my Pokémon team but still the team I raised is the team I always use.

I used too love training or any aspect of the game. Now I am going off pokemon, I only do what is necessary so I always carry Repels of some description. I only train to what is required and move on in the game. I guess I just get bored of it, pokemon seems to always feel the same. However I have to admit to breaking my Gameboy being stuck up in the sky pillar bike maze. I am not joking, I through my gameboy at the wall!!

MechaMento : I've always had above average reflexes thankfully so little puzzles like that never really caused me frustration.

And no I clearly understand at some point it becomes repetitive. but thats why I do all these challenges like Nuzlocke and Mono Type. It adds a new flair to the game

I don't particularly get attached, but I am rather quite fond of my party Pokémon than any others really...I don't have much of a diverse party - gather all the pieces I need, never interchange 'em.

Yessir. I get attached to my Pokémon in every game, no matter what it is. If it was in my team of six (discluding HM Slave), it's a part of my digital family.

The rest are for show, breeding, and Pokedex reasons.

I guess I might, I take pride in constructing a good team and I will be proud of my team when I make it past a gym or the elite 4. If you consider that as being attached, then I guess so, I take pride in them when they succeed and I get angry when they don't do well or lose. So I guess I get a bit attached to the pokemon in my team. But I don't get to ridiculous extremes like falling in love with a pokemon, or crying when they lose and throwing a tantrum like a toddler if they lose or something. That is just plain ridiculous.

Razor-987 : I understand completely.

I view it from the role of a mentor/teacher. I am quite proud when my team is able to defeat a Gym. Especially the more well known difficult ones for their time in the game. Perfect example is Whitney from GSC. Her Miltank always wreaked havoc on my team, and was responsible for my own fair share of white outs. But when my team overcomes her, or I plan and train carefully, build a strong team, it's just as satisfying as being the Champion.

On the same note I do feel annoyed or a bit upset when my team loses. But part of me accepts it's also my fault for not leading them properly. Like a General in an army, my troops are only as good as the orders they are given

During Nuzlockes, I get pretty attached to some Pokémon, especially if they have gone through a lot. But usually, it's pretty easy to just let them go. There are some that I kind of regretted that I got rid of, by starting a new game.

I get attached. To some more than others, but I get attached nonetheless. Especially during Nuzlocke challenges.

Here's to you, Cyndaquil, Zubat, & Samurott(can't remember their names though).

I would not say that I get attached to certain Pokémon but I usually have a set list in each region of Pokémon I would go out of my way to catch if I see them in the wild and even if I actually will not use them. I think as a young adult I was a little attached to certain Pokémon for example in every version up to Crystal I would use a Pidgey. Other Pokémon I would not mind training if they are only under leveled by 2-5 levels and if at the point in the game it could actually be more useful on my main team instead of another party member. For an example I will use Elekid. If my party consists of 6 lv.25 Pokémon and I can catch an Elekid to replace a fighting type and its only lv.12-15 chances are I will spend time to train it up in order to replace the fighting type Pokémon in my party at the time. I really do not like using dragon type Pokémon just because of all the training that has to go into it. In my whole gaming career I only had 2 lv.100 Pokémon who I fully trained and some I just trained up because they were in the high 90s because it was a 1 Pokémon sweeping team or I caught a legendary at lv.70 like Rayquaza.

I have sweeped Pokémon Crystal and Silver version with a Raticate on separate occasions. I basically trained other Pokémon on my team but during all trainer battles I would use Raticate, the rest of the team was just used as walls or used to help do heavy enough damage where my Raticate can 1 hit K.O. especially during the E4.

I usually only train up 6 Pokemon, so I would say I do. I have a really hard time trying to figure out who to switch for a flying type (Lucario for Altaria T^T), Legendary, and for an HM slave.

It entirely depends on what I want to do with the save file of the game. If I am just powering through the game to the E4, I will only have 6 Pokémon, making sure that I am able to use all HM moves with those 6. But to also have a type advantage with them as well.

There will ALWAYS be one Pokémon that I will have in my party no matter what I am doing, because I will feel lost without having my starter even if I have a disadvantage using it.
