So, the Poll is pretty self-explanatory .. Do you think there's life beyond Earth? If you think there is, give points and evidence why you think so below, the same applies if you don't believe there is life beyond Earth. I will give my opinion also because I want to share with you guys what I think about this topic!

Well..think about it, we are a tiny little Planet, a spec in this vast enormous universe. It would be merely IMPOSSIBLE for there not to be another form of life outside our Planet as there are an estimated two-to-three hundred billion planets in our galaxy, the Milky Way alone, even if it's just That's pretty much my opinion on the topic, if you've anything you have to say about life on other planets feel free to post below your opinions and possible theories if you wish! If you have something to say, I'll look forward to reading it, and I'll even leave my personal opinion!
one celestial body, even if they are just unicellular entities there has to be more of us somewhere. Forget the distance. The universe is 14 billion years old, if we could develop in this time, so could have other things and, our solar system is very new. This means that there could be life out there even more developed than us, who knows, maybe tomorrow we will get a knock on earth's door with other beings paying us a visit. Whether it be for good reasons, or for bad reasons. I believe in the time I'm alive, I will see an extraterrestrial entity with my own eyes. Scientists have been getting radio signals too normal for pulsars or any other celestial body we know of, this could be an alien sending us signals.

I honestly doubt it. Even though we humans may not know that there is a lot more we haven't seen yet in space.

Yes, I do believe that there is life on other planets.  It's just the fact that the universe it so vast, there is bound to be another planet with living life forms.  The minimum basic number one factor that supports living things, it liquid water.  So far, we are the only planet that we have discovered that has liquid water.  We have of course discovered planets with ice, but it does not support life as it is not a liquid.  There is a huge chance of another planet out there with life.  Even if it was micro organisms, that would be amazing to witness.

The universe is far too massive and far too old for there to not be other forms of life out there. We estimate that there's about a septillion (1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000) stars in the observable universe, and the universe is about 14 billion years old. Even if the odds of life emerging is ridiculously unlikely, it's pretty much a statistical impossibility that there isn't life out there somewhere. That much is clear, and I don't think there's much to that anyone can object to when it comes to that outside of philosophical/religious reasons.

What we can't presume is the nature of any of these aliens. As far as we can tell, none of them have ever visited Earth, and none of them have tried to communicate with us. We have no idea if they're anything like us or if they live anywhere close. Additionally, if interstellar/intergalactic travel is genuinely as hindered by the theory of relativity as we currently think it is, then we may never even run into any aliens even if many exist within our own galaxy.

In short, they're probably out there, but unless the warp drive or hyperspace of humanity's science fiction dreams is a reality, we may never know it for sure.

Yes, the odds are stacked against there not being other life out there in the vast universe. It is highly improbable that life can't exist anywhere but earth. There are several trillions of stars out there, many of which are a part of a solar system in which planets have the conditions for life. Other life forms are a possibility that humans are just too stubborn or afraid to recognize out of fear. There are other forms of life out there, and it is near impossible to think that the universe, as vast as it is with septillions of known observed stars with solar systems that only 1 planet holds the conditions for life, I am sorry but that is just the way it is. There is unexplored forms of life out there that live on inhabitable planets. So yes in a vast universe, there is some other form of life that exists out there.

Yes, the universe is infinite, or at least close to it,so it is almost impossible for there not be life in other planets, even maybe in comets, asteroids, or even maybe natural satellites, maybe not as evolved as us, or so evolved they don't even care about us.We could be the most advanced species in the universe, or the least evolved and all the alien folk could be in a planet sized park or something. But the thing is, there ARE life in other places, just maybe not the same as us.

It is completely possible as it has been proved that there are other planets that could support life. However there has yet to be another life form on another planet, or any planet within our observable universe. As for my opinion on the possibility of life elsewhere in our universe I would say I do not believe there is but I believe there is the possibility. There is no proof against it so you really can't say it isn't possible.

It's entirely possible, and the idea isn't that far-fetched. However, finding where life exists isn't the only problem. Another huge one is finding WHEN life exists. Not all life has to exist at the same time. We could have missed a civilization more advanced than our own by a few billion years. Another civilization looking for life could miss US billions of years after we're gone.

I have to say, we can't exactly say that they're ain't life on other planets because we haven't explored every single planet in the entire universe, or other universes. so who knows, a planet that is like a billion light-years away could be a planet that is exactly like Earth.

So who knows.

It's a pretty self-centered idea to think we're the ONLY intelligent life in existence. We know that there is bacterial life on others, and we also know that there are hundreds of habitable planets in many other galaxies. The chances of there being other intelligent lifeforms somewhere else are much greater than the idea there isn't, really.

Though, I'm sure that we will truly never actually know. The government doesn't seem to really want to let us know the truth (coughPRISMcough), and any habitable places would be far too distant to get to with a simple rocket, unless we get stuff Q mentioned.

Shame we'll never get the chance to find out, either...

" I want to believe ". Oh wait, that was Mulder ( X-Files ).
I do believe in life on other planets. I believe in interstellar
traveling extra terrestrials. I believe that THEY have been
here in the past, the Ancient Astronaut Theory. A theory
made public by a man named Erich Von Daniken. He
wrote a book called Chariots of the Gods. There is a show
called Ancient Aliens, so if you're interested in knowing
my reasons why I believe you should watch that show.
It makes for a very convincing argument.

Ah a poll I like so I have been reading Carl Sagan's Cosmos and he has some good points on the different types of life we would see on different kinds of worlds. Such as Jupiter having balloon type of beings filled with helium and feeding off of floating algae and predators that puncture and suck the helium out of the "Floater's".  I said I have been reading so I'm not quiet done with it yet. But I will post more on the subject when I read more.

I don't think there is life on other planets because Earth is probably the only planet that has both water and land together. Also, our planet might be the only planet with good enough temperatures for life to be there.

I really could go on for ever on this topic but for example the Kepler spacecraft has found just over 500 planets similar to earth already!so the chances are extremely high whether it's microorganisms to some unknown type of life form, something is going to be out there.

Faithnomore : I love reading about the Kepler candidates.

PacmanandMariofan : Actually, if you look into what Faithnomore was talking about, you see there are likely other planets with condition close to earth's, similar size, similar distance from their star, etc.

As for life... I won't get into much detail of what I believe. But I wouldn't be surprised if there was some non-intelligent life out there.
