This is the thread for the Xbox One, a console that was announced by Microsoft earlier today. Alongside that, they have announced the features, specs, and a few launch titles.

I am aware that Davideo7 has made a thread about it in Video Games, but this thread serves for this forum.

Here is the official console design, rather bulky, but sleek.

Here are some of the specs.

This is the official controller design, which looks similar to the Xbox Original.

New features for the controller.


The console will not be backwards compatible, it will not be Always Online, but there's no confirmation on whether or not it allows used games.

Launch titles include Forza 5, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Quantum Break, and more.

It will run on Windows 8, and it will have TV services.

I hate Windows 8, and I just started paying for Ghosts on the 360. Do you know uf 360 games and controllers will work with it? And I thought they were going to call it XBOX 720...

thing1 : At the end of my post, I explained that it won't be backwards compatible.

It won't be backwards compatible because the computer cores are completely different and it would be near impossible to play 360 games on the 1.

My thoughts is I think this system  will sell horribly

because the Xbox One (just rumors)doesn't play games from the

xbox360(and I doubt any good games will come out for the Xbox One

anytime soon) . Also games would have to be installed on it, that's not a

very favorable aspect well at least to me.

You may also have to install a game, and if you bought it used, pay a fee to install it.

Seems that it's going to jack up the prices on the console on that baby. According to the pictures of the console, it might be as big as a Cable box, which is pretty ridiculous, if not double the size. It'll be interesting to see how the games run on that thing, but I hope the size increase benefits.

pacman1755 : Considering the given specs, it will be lucky to run something like Diablo III, which is getting a PS4 release although I already have it for PC. (Sorry for a badly appropriate example, I lack a 360)

I don't see how this is in any way safe considering the announcement happened after the one for the PS4. It just seems that even from when it was just rumours that it was just deemed to fail.

thenumberone : Windows 8 looks a lot like the Xbox dashboard. From what we have seen of the PS4, it's menus also look somewhat like it. (The XMB won awards, why would Sony drop it?)

thats as may be but I didnt actualy like the last xbox dashboard.
I havent seen anything of the ps4 dashboard? if it is like the ps3 I will be happy, uncluttered and organised. itd be ideal if you could move stuff around too.

thenumberone : I like the newer version on thr 360 dashboard a whole lot better than the origanal dashboard layout. to be honest, I see the thing failing, just like the Wii. Hot for awhile, then no longer relevent. What is really hurting it though is the nane, and no go on the backwards compatability. Change at least the backwards combatibility issue, and it would be an entirely different story.

whilst I too would prefer backword compatability it would make it more expensive to produce, and since they are in a tight race with sony they cant risk that

Sure, make some games exclusive... and as much as I love Halo, I will be paying $500+ just to play 5 and 6, you know what I am saying? I think they are going to loose more money doing it like this, than they are doing it by having backwards compatibility.

I don't even. It's just... so bad. The Xbox One is already off to a terrible start. It already seems horrible with the lack of good functions and no backwards compatibility (Game Software or Xbox 360 controllers/mics). The need to install games is ridiculous. The specs are worse than that of the PS4. The fee for used games is also ridiculous. Supposedly it's only in HD so it'll require an HDTV to play. Must access the online service once every 24 hours or it stops functioning... Ugh. I don't understand what Microsoft is doing, but... It's not going to affect me in any way, shape or form as I wasn't going to buy it in the first place. Ah well. If you choose to buy it, have fun.

Cons: It is barely functional and it is not compatible with the Xbox like the Wii U is, it is just terrible. And installing the games is such a hassle. And it requires Internet connection and it has to be hooked up to an Hd tv and games will probably have to be played online which is a downside of the console. And you also can not play or share a game with a friend.

-you can use voice commands when using kinnect which is useful if your hands are full
-Wifi direct controller
-1080p quality


Personally I wouldn't get one because of all of the cons and it is not reversely compatible but it is your choice to make.

They could have given the console a better name. 'Xbox One' .... 'Xbox Infinity' 'Xbox 720' ... c'mon.. bit of creativity wouldn't go a long way!

Based on what I learned? The New X-Box is a Computer without the Keyboard, Monitor, or Mouse.
Plus it forces you to browse through their system to get the stuff you want.
With the Price tag and all the rest?
I'd rather get a new Laptop.

The Idea of a Console is to play a game without needing any extra stuff or internet or whatever.
Imagine a D.V.D. Player that only works when there is internet connection and only allows one D.V.D. Player to watch the show?
You go to your friends place or you lend out the D.V.D. and they need to pay a fee?

Quite simply put. It is too impractical for the average person.
You really need to be a hardcore gamer and a 100% loyal X-Box Fan to spend that kind of cash on it.
I have been called hardcore in the gaming community before, but that was during my teens. Plus they were referencing my puzzle solving skills or ability to chew through a game rather a little faster than most.
I favour Enjoying a good Puzzle or a Great Challenge, Or even a good tale told in game format.
I do not need to rearrange my life around a commitment to a silly Black Box that will only provide about Five Years of entertainment till it is Obsolete. And then be useless after those five years are up???

   I think I already spoke out about the Xbox in Davideo's thread, but anyways, I see this new generation like this so far: everybody is pretty disappointed with all of new systems, but everybody seems to be saying PS4 > Xbox One, including Xbox fans. But either way, I think that both of them will start off slow, but PS4 doing better, considering that the Xbox looks like it will cost a fortune. 

Basically what I got out of the XBOX ONE reveal is that you can watch tv, interact with fish under water in Call of Duty Ghost, and the Halo Live Action Series. That is pretty much it. To continue on with the thread, I do not think that XBOX is getting it. The people want GAMES. You know games? The things that people play and have fun with? They are trying to make the XBOX into a social media player. Try making it back into a gaming system, and less people will complain. Also, I think they should consider rethinking the Kinect. That thing is just a disaster waiting to happen. Just get rid of it all together. From the looks of it now, I think that the PS4 will outlast the XBOX ONE a lot longer.
