Magmortar is an ok fire type pokemon. It has high special attack and special defense, but it has poor defense and mediocre speed. Overall, there are better fire type pokemon out there, so I'm giving Magmortar a 5.

The next pokemon to rate is Mew.

Mew? Hmmm let me think, its rather adorable, and is in my opinion one of the most appealing genderless Pokémon to come across, though, my favourite is Azelf, this one doesn't come far, only thing though, just like all Legendary Pokémon, it is rather slow to level up, its not really a good Pokémon to use either, its fast yeah, but it lacks a lot of most, and is rather week, a dark type or ghost that is weaker by 5 levels could probably wipe it out in one or two hits.

So the rating for Mew is 6.5/10...next Pokémon? Combee...

Combee is a case where gender actually plays a role in its usefulness. If it's a male, then there is absolutely no reason to ever get one, use one, or train it. The stats are pretty standard as far as weak bug type Pokémon go compared to Weedle, Caterpie, and Wurmple, with more moves to boot. So unless you're building a team consisting of Pokémon like that, he's useless. And if it's a female, you're just looking to evolve it into Vespiquen. Pretty cute design, but overall worthless as a Combee for basically anything. 1/10 for males, 2/10 for females because you can evolve it into a halfway decent Pokémon.

Next Pokémon to rate is Beheeyem.

Beheeyem is visually unappealing and it's name is extremely strange, also it has low defense and mediocre special defense and to make matters worse, it's extremely slow. Even for a fully evolved psychic type, Beheeyem is a below average psychic type pokemon, so I'm giving the rating for that pokemon a 4.

Next pokemon to rate is Hitmonlee.

Hitmonlee is a unique Pokemon, in my opinion. It has lots of strong moves, and has one special one, called Mega Kick. It is a great fighting type Pokemon, though not that excellent. 8/10. Next Pokemon to rate is Emboar.

Emboar is the worst of the fire fighting pokemon and it it can't take a hit or it's dead. It also has terrible speed as well, making it a useless starter pokemon. It's absolutely terrible so I'm giving Emboar a 2/10.

The next pokemon to rate is piplup.

Piplup is pretty much the only starter from generation 4 that I really like. Obviously Piplup alone isn't the most useful Pokémon, but it can learn stealth rock and defog, for those that used non evolved Pokémon metagames. Otherwise, it's very cute, and evolves into a Pokémon that I like quite a bit in Empoleon. 6/10 for Piplup, taking everything into account.

Next Pokémon to rate is Shuckle.

patar4097 : Shuckle is probably one of the more underrated Pokemon out there.

Yes he has abysmal offensive and speed stats and even though he has those gargantuan defenses of 230 his hp is pretty crummy only being at 20 but if you don't look from a purely competitive standpoint he can actually be pretty fun to use.

I even used him on my first White 2 play through. He has contrary as a hidden ability which is one of my favorite abilities in the game because it reverts stat changes and the AI constantly fall for it. You'll probably still have slowly wear down enemies with toxic (as long as it's not a poison type) unless you're feeling lucky and want to try for a power trick and turn him into the most frightening but incredibly fragile sweeper ever seen, as long as you set up a trick room and use a focus sash or something.

His move pool isn't the widest but he has enough to at least have some potential when messing around or just using him in game. He has a fun ability in contrary and some options in how to go about using him since you can use him both as a tank and a sweeper.

So while he isn't really competitive material most of the time (unless you can pull of a sweep with him in NU or something) he's a pretty fun Pokemon to use sometimes in my opinion, I would recommend it if you're just playing through the game, messing around or perhaps even try using him in the battle maison/subway/frontier depending on what game you're playing.

So for the added fun factor and strategies available I'd give it 7.5/10 but from a purely competitive standpoint I'd give it a 4/10 not that good unless you manage to set it up for a sweep and get a bit lucky with your match up in which case it would probably be extremely satisfying.

Zlinqx : dude, you forgot to give another pokemon to rate. Since you forgot this, I'm going to review Shuckle.

Shuckle has an insane amount of defense and special defense. When you look at it that way, it may seem like it's the ultimate wall. If it weren't for it's abysmal hp then I'd agree. It's offensive stats and speed are also absolutely horrendous, so the only use Shuckle has is using toxic. I'm giving Shuckle a 6 since it at least has a major strength being it's defenses.

The next pokemon to rate is Gigalith.

Gigalith is definitely an interesting Pokémon, with a great attack and defense stat, and can come in as both a tank for standard attacks, but mostly for taking out Pokémon with moves like Rock Slide, and then ending with an Explosion for putting some major hurt on some Pokémon, while killing most with the power that comes from a Normal Gemmed Explosion. But I personally don't like to use him. Just not one of my favorites I guess. 6/10

Next Pokémon to rate is Kabutops.

I'm willing to give Kabutops some slack. He actually served me well when I played through Blue recently and was a great Water type, being able to hit decently hard and take a hit.
Next Pokemon up is Hariyama.

Hariyama is a fighting type that has very high hp and high attack, but it's other stats are very bad. Overall, Hariyama has never been a great choice as a fighting type pokemon, not even in gen 3 where it originated. Overall, Hariyama gets a 3.

Next pokemon to rate is Shieldon.

Great defenses for a first stage Pokémon but everything else is lacking. Even though it's immune to Poison and resistant to 8 types, I still don't like it's type pairing because it takes 4x damage to Fighting and Ground, which are two of the most common types. 2.5/10

Next Pokémon is Avalugg.

   Avalugg is definitely a fantastic physical wall, having both good health, and terrific defense. It also has a very good attack stat, but it is terribly slow, and the special stats are both awful. Its access to Rapid Spin is a very good thing to have, and can be very powerful with earthquake and avalanche. However, there are other rapid spinners that generally have more uses, and he really doesn't seem to be all that useful in my eyes, even though he's got amazing physical bulk. 3/10

The next Pokémon to rate is Shedinja.

I've never really liked using shedinja to be quite honest. I know it is immune to most of the other types, but the fact that it only has 1 hp bothers me, meaning that it can't take a hit to save its life. Its only average stat is attack which is base 90, and even then it is still pretty mediocre. All of its other stats range from 30 to 45 aside from its hp. It doesn't even have a decent movepool. 


Overall, I've never really like shedinja aside from its name, and its awful stats and movepool don't help much either. 1/10

Next pokemon to rate is Politoed. 

Politoed gets a 7/10 ,it is a really good design and a lot to be desired.

Next Pokemon to rate: Jigglypuff

I'm probably giving Jiggs way more credit than is deserved, but my Smash Bros. bias of her being my favorite character can't be ignored. Jigglypuff is extremely cute, can use Sing, and has a terrific amount of HP, but doesn't have much going for it otherwise. Even after it evolves, it is still completely outclassed by many other Pokémon, although the Fairy ability seems to help out a bit. Her giant movepool is nice, but Jigglypuff itself can be helpful in the games early on though, so I'll give it a 5/10.

The next Pokémon to rate is Lickitung.

Honestly, all of its stats are pretty lackluster. Its HP is good, and its defenses are pretty frail as well. It's attack stats are both well below average at 55 and 60 respectively. It's also crippled by its extremely low speed at base 30. Design wise, I actually like its design better than its later evolution Lickylicky. That is about it though, its better to just evolve it. 


Altogether, it is pretty mediocre, and its movepool is pretty average as well. Maybe if it had a different typing and better stat distribution, the rating might be higher. I rate it a 5.5/10.

Next pokemon up is Lilligant. 

Lilligant is interesting. Quiver dance is very powerful, and with own tempo it won't get confused by using petal dance. Its defenses are awful though, and its movepool is limited to grass type moves and psychic I believe. 4/10

Next up is a pokemon I've gained a lot of respect for in my last nuzlocke, muk.
