Hello users,

I have found a troubling attitude on Vizzed that really can hurt the reputation of the board. Many times I have seen users speak unkindly, or "too" frankly to other users, especially newer ones.

This happens especially when a user does something that might be against the rules, or borderline so. For example:

New user posts: Hey! I'm a Pokemon expert, ask me anything about pokemon, like if you need help with any game, or need information about something Pokemon related.

User B: Hm, you don't have permission for this.
User C: I don't even know who you are... you prob aren't allowed to have this.
User D: Mods : close this.
---

Honestly... did that user need THREE other users to bluntly tell them about a rule they obviously missed? And how would they feel if it's only their 50th post here, they think they have a great idea for a good thread, and put fort the effort to make a thread... and other users completely ignore their existence and only tell them what they did wrong?

Treat people like human beings. Be kind. Newbies need to be explained things sometimes, and it helps the mod team out when other users don't backseat mod, and instead are helpful.

So next time you see a user do something you think is wrong, quietly report it to the mods... and remember, be polite and helpful!

I'm guilty for doing so today, and your right need to be more careful what to say to people because I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings on purpose. Good thing you made this thread.

This is awesome.

And for backseat modding, neither the thread makers nor the mods like it. If I'm the thread maker, I won't be so happy if a non-mod posted in my thread just to tell me the rules I've broken. As for the mod's side, we don't really appreciate having summons in every thread that needs to be moved or closed and reading some rude posts by people about the thread and the thread makers.

We'll most likely see the threads that need to be edited even without the summons, have some faith in us, lol.

I will admit, I have been guilty of this a couple times in the past. It is true that I should be more courteous to new members, and not backseat mod, as I do not wish to offend anyone, hurt anyone's feelings, or cause moderators any problems. I concur with the making of this thread being a good idea, and I'll try to be better in the future.

Agreed man. I like that you made this thread. It seems that a lot of people forget that new members don't know everything yet. They don't know that your scenario is against the rules. Nobody wants to go to a site just to get yelled at for doing things they didn't know was wrong. So again, thanks for making this thread.

Doing stuff like that can really sour a person's mood. I'm happy to see people still standing up for the little guys!
