pokemon ruby review   SacredShadow
I liked playing this game, I loved the graphics which have really come a long way, the graphics are amazing, the Pokémon are great. I really liked this game, although out of ruby, emerald, or sapphire, Emerald became my favorite just because it was slightly better, but nevertheless this game is amazing!
Graphics: The graphics for this game really show that they have come a really long way since the first generation of Pokémon. They look great, I enjoy the character and Pokémon sprites, and battling a Pokémon is just a whole lot more fun and amazing. The graphics are an easy well deserved 10, just awesome.
Sound: The sound is okay, it does provide an atmosphere to the game, which is always a bonus, but it can be a littler irritating from time to time, and it is repetitive,  the sound is basically the same as in most other Pokémon games, but I wish the sound was a little changed up and maybe different, it would make the game more interesting. But the music does provide a good feel when playing the game so I gave it an 8 which seems fitting.
Addictiveness: I did play this game whenever I got the chance, but I was never addicted to it as I was addicted to Emerald, this game is great and fun to play, but I just got more enjoyment out of emerald because of the catch-able legendary Pokémon, and the graphics were slightly better. But overall, the sound is decent enough to give a good time, so I gave it an 8.
Story: The story basically stays the same throughout Pokémon, and it never really changes much, you re a young trainer, on your way to become a Pokémon champion and get the eight badges and successfully beat the elite 4 and go to the battle frontier. Nothing really changing much. But aside from the usual game storyline, there are lots of new things to discover, and new Pokémon to find, so it never gets old. I gave the classic storyline a 9 because of how it captures your interest.
Depth: There are many new things, each generation of Pokémon games have to offer, you can fight trainers everywhere, and also complete the pokedex, by catching all of the Pokémon, and also going hunting for the legendary Pokémon in this game, like Groudon. The game has a fair amount of material to offer to keep the game play interesting and maintain maximum challenge. So it does have enough fun stuff to do to keep you occupied, the depth deserves a 9,( I played light platinum and there is so much to do that you will always be occupied with the massive amount of stuff to do and enjoy, including 2 regions in 1 game!)
Difficulty: The game itself is not very complicated to play, and anyone can learn and pick up on it even if they have never played a Pokémon game before. Be that as it may, with the decent amount of material provided the game is fairly easy but gives a good challenge and keeps everything interesting. I beat the game in about 7 days, but now being more familiar with it, I could beat it in 4 or 5. The game is meant for fun and it should be a game where you take the time to enjoy it and do all it has to offer. If you spend a good time training for the gyms and elite 4 the game should be easy, and challenging! This game is awesome, and I am likely to play it again in the near future!!

Pokemon Ruby Review   Marcmoney
Overall - 9.6
Pokémon Ruby is a good GBA game to play.  When I played this, it was a whole lot of fun.  It is just like Pokémon Sapphire and Emerald, but this one is not my favorite out of the other two.  The game plays so perfectly like any other Pokémon game.  The cover were Groudon is on looks good.  I really enjoyed playing this kind of Pokémon game and I have beaten it about 5 times.
Graphics - 10
The graphics are amazing.  It brings back memories and I love the way it was made.  The effects look very cool.  I like the effects on each Pokémon when they attack.
Sound - 9
The sound is good.  What can be quite annoying would be the music background in the battle.  When you want to find a Pokémon that you really want and keep going into battle and it is the wrong Pokémon, it gets annoying to hear the same song over and over again.  Other than that, they are Pokémon-like.  The sound effects are very good.  The Pokemons sound like what they are suppose to sound like and some sound kind of funny.
Addictiveness - 8
I would play this a lot, but not as much as Sapphire and Emerald (mostly Emerald is what I would play).  I am not a Pokémon Ruby fan.  Instead of judging which I prefer, this game is still the exact same as Sapphire.  It is just different legendary Pokemons that you catch.
Story - 9
The story is the same throughout Pokémon history.  You are a trainer that wants to become a Pokémon champion, but to do that you have to get 6 or 8 badges and then verse the Elite Four and then verse the champion.  Same stuff, but never gets old since they change the game play a lot.
Depth - 9
The game has a lot to offer.  For instance, you catch Pokemons (obviously).  Another thing is that you can go verse trainers throughout the world in the game.  Other things like getting items and badges.  Same stuff in all the other Pokémon games.  It is just fun to go around getting everything in the game.
Difficulty - 4
The game is not that hard.  Some of the time you will get stuck in one of the gym leaders and will take time to train your Pokemons to beat them.  My advice is that you do not rush when you are playing cause you will get stuck and would realize that you should have trained a lot before battling someone.
Wrap Things Up...
Pokémon Ruby is a good game to play, even when I rather play Sapphire or Emerald.  I highly recommend trying this game out if you have not already.  I guarantee that you will like it, especially to all Pokémon fans. :)

A Generic Pokemon Review - By DittoDude44   DittoDude44
Okay, DittoDude44 here with another review. This time, pokemon ruby. Finally review time...(my alarm clock would not work, and then it decided to)
Also, this review will NOT be in categories, either. My reviews will be 2 big paragraphs, depending on what I have to say for the game.
Okay, without further ado, let us begin on this review!
Pokemon Ruby is a game that you can play all day, or play it for 10 minutes, just to kill time. In this game, it is your choice what you want to do. It is optional. This game takes place in the Hoenn Region, a very popular region for pokemon ruby/sapphire/emerald lovers. Me, I like Unova, I never was really impressed with Hoenn.
This game is shown in an aerial view, so if you look closely and concentrate, you will think it looks like Brenday or May is laying down. I think all gmes of pokemon are shown in aerial view, so this might be basic, or extroidanary. Well, this IS a good game, I did not find any glitches in my time of playing it, except for Glitch City, which I am not going to explain. The cheat box for this game shows glitch city, and how to get to it.
I can say...I love this game. A very good game. I am inpressed. The people that made this, obviously put a lot of work into this game, and you should be thanking them for generation 3, because it has a lot of things in it.
Starters -
Torchic, the cute fire type chick we all adore. This starter is recommended for people that like their game easy.
Mudkip, the little mud fish pokemon that evolves into a giant blue and yellow beast. This starter is recommended for people that like their game to be hard, but not too hard. Intermediate, I guess you could say. Oh, by the way, it is a water type. Do not mess with water types!
Treeko, the little green lizard that is sort of weak, but it can be strong. This starter is recommended for people that like their game to be all hard, no easy.
Paragraph one, done...Paragraph 2, the final one, you are up!
Paragraph 2-
Well, I think I can say, overall, I really like this game and I think you should play it. trust me, you will love it. But it is your choice. Remember, this game is optional. Optional as in...you can play it forever or just for 10 minutes just to kill time and for something to do if you are bored. I think this game will tunr out to have a remake, as well as Emerald and Sapphire with the rate they are begging for a pokemon emerald one. But GBA is old, I doubt they will make a new GBA game.
Not the best game I have ever played, I can play it forever though. If I had a choice between Emerald, Ruby, and Sapphire, I would pick this game just because of Groudon mostly. I like Kyogre better, but Groudon is a tiny bit strounger than Kyogre. But there is only one pokemon that can overpower (aka pwn) both of the two big legends, that that pokemon is none other than, the one and only, the green dragon that spits meteors, Rayquaza! Rayquaza is, by far, the strongest generation 3 pokemon...
Now, I will discuss the graphics, the sound, etc, one little sentence, in a paragraph.
The graphics are good, shown from aerial view, and overall the graphics are good. The sound is okay too, it is not the best, but it is good. This game is pretty easy, anyways, I think you will think the same when you try this game. This game is really big, I am impressed with how this game is so big. The story is basic, start out on a journey, meet a mean team and a nice team, try to destroy (aka blow away) the mean team, beat the elite four, and become the best pokemon trainer.
Simple, well, I guess this concludes this little detail blob. This was not meant to sound spammy, it is not like other reviews, long and detailed, it is fat and detailed. 700 words is okay, I guess.
Well, this concludes it, see you guys, :)
Hopefully this posts right...

Fantastic Game   poiupoiupoiu
I have been a fan of Pokémon games and video games in general for a long time, but I might have to say that this is one of the best video games I have ever played. Pokémon Ruby has given me countless hours of enjoyment. I have spent more than 250 hours on one save game alone, not to mention the other times I restarted my game to relive the experience. I have also spent time playing other Pokémon games such as Crystal, Leaf Green, Platinum, and many more. This game may come second only to Pokémon Red Rescue Team which, in my opinion, is one of the greatest Pokémon games of all time.

Just by looking at this game it is easy to see why Nintendo has had so much success with its Pokémon franchise. It has a great story and many side activities that will have players spending hours of their time exploring the world. The game also includes more than one hundred new Pokémon for players old and new alike to discover. They will be able to see the new powers and skills required to become a successful trainer in the Hoenn region. These new Pokémon come in varying shapes and sizes, all unique in their own way. Some are fierce and intimidating while others are cute and cuddly. You will also be able to see some of the more familiar Pokémon such as Pikachu and Psyduck. Many people may hold on to the common misconception that these games are created for young children, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Pokémon Ruby is a video game that can be enjoyed by people of any age or gender. The world is beautifully crafted for being a Game Boy Advance title. It includes a wide variety of areas to explore, from cities to forests to deserts, and even allowing the player to delve underwater into the depths of Hoenn's ocean. One of the game's weaker points is its difficulty. If you are looking for a great challenge most of the game play would not suit that need, but there are a few interesting puzzles that just might float your boat. While the game might not be challenging it is more than made up for in fun game play that will keep you on the edge of your seat wanting more.

During my time playing Ruby I have been subjected to many great experiences. The game play is fun and fluent, allowing the player to become immersed in the world of Pokémon's Hoenn region. The first time I played after receiving my copy of the game I was introduced to new and fascinating Pokémon and characters. You wouldn't imagine the difficulty I had trying to decide which of the new and truly intriguing starters I would select to accompany me on my journey to become the very best Pokémon trainer in the Hoenn region. On my first play through I decided to choose a Treecko and I can say that I was not disappointed in any way. He was reliable and helped to win many tough battles. On my journeys I came upon many towns with characters that helped to move me along and become a great trainer. I fought my way through numerous battles and conquered all eight gyms and even a legendary Pokémon to find myself at the doorstep of the Pokémon League. I would later go on to surmount even that challenge and become the greatest trainer in the Hoenn region
Overall, the game was fantastic. I played through it many times and I am glad that I have the opportunity to do so again.

This game is actually a good Pokémon game. This is no hack this is the real thing and offers you a lot. The story is good and fun gives back the real hoenn adventure. This is the same as emerald but a little mix up, you have the team aqua and team magma, you have the same cities, you have the same elite 4. Well all that changes you don't have the battle frontier you only get the battle tower so this game is not as good as Pokémon emerald. Pokémon Sapphire is the same as ruby nothing different I hope you enjoy this game and out of curiosity state why you like the game. I will start, I like this game because it gives me a lot to think on when I play this game I think of Pokémon advance battle and all the other hoenn adventures that is why I play this game a lot and enjoy it

Pokemon Ruby Review!   bluethew0lf
When I first bought Pokémon Ruby, I wasn't that much excited because I was one of those Pokémon fans who did not like the look of the new Pokémon at the time. This game absolutely changed that. I fell in love with all the Third Generation Pokémon, and even more with the amazing Hoen region. There is rain and desert and a variety of interesting Pokémon habitats. You can even dive deep into the ocean and discover treasures and hidden caves. There is so much to do and this game not only makes you feel like a real Pokémon trainer, but it makes you feel like a real explorer and a brave adventurer.
GRAPHICS 9
The visual in this game are really something.I really love the lightning when it is storming, it looks so realistic. There are so many textures and variations in landscape, it feels like a real place. Everything looks right and you don't feel like you are just looking at pixels on a screen; it looks like you are peering into the world Ash Ketchum lives in and knows.
SOUND 9
I love the sound in this game. The music is perfect  for the adventure and for battling, and every situation you encounter. It helps you get into it. The sound effects are great as well.
ADDICTIVENESS 9
Like many other Pokémon games, this game is very easy to get addicted to. You start to hear the first Pokémon theme song in your head as you travel across the lands, searching for and wide. If you like gambling, you will probably enjoy the Mauville Game Corner (a little casino, really) As well. I love it. The Pokémon Competitions are very addictive also. Like dog shows for Pokémon trainers, only your Pokémon are allowed to act up. Very cool.
STORY 9
The story of Pokémon and being the very best Pokémon trainer in the world never gets old. The  thing is, with every new Pokémon game comes new adventures and new people and Pokémon to meet. There is so much to discover and so much to learn, the story almost never really ends. In Pokémon Ruby, there is so much to find, you almost never tire of the Hoen region. And if you do, check online; there is probably more to be found.
DEPTH 10
As I mentioned above, there is so much to do in this game. You get to gamble at a casino, compete in more than one kind of competition, breed Pokémon, plant, decorate a secret hiding place of your choice, and so much more. This is not a game you will beat in a few hours. Even after you reach the credits screen, there is still much more to find out and discover. The journey never actually ends.
DIFFICULTY 7
Some parts of the game can be a little tough, especially if you don't take the time to level up your Pokémon first (I kind of cheat with Rare Candies I get from the Zigzagoons that pick up stuff while I battle), and catching rare and powerful Pokémon after you have used up your Master Ball. There are some puzzles that take a little mind power also, but nothing too hard. The hardest part is actually catching them all.
OVERALL 9.5
All around, this is an awesome game, even if you aren't a big Pokémon fan. I've met people who have never even watched a single episode of Pokémon or has played any of the other Pokémon games who really enjoy Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald.  A lot of people assume that these games are made for kids, but they are for all ages. I can promise many hours of fun; there is plenty to see, and plenty to do, and many species of Pokémon to catch. Happy hunting!

Pokémon Ruby Version
A review by iN008.
Poke-things.
Pokémon has been around for quite some time, over 15 years now. Pokémon was first conceived in 1996 by Satoshi Tajiri and was later brought internationally in 1998 with the release of the original games, these games became a huge-hit and spawned a multimedia franchise, from manga to anime, of-course it didn't leave it's video-game origin in the dust as many new incarnations soon followed the success of the original games, from Red and Blue to Yellow, to Gold, Silver and Crystal, and the first of the 3rd generation, Sapphire and Ruby. Each game brought something to the table and continued to add to the massing amount of species they are of Pokémon.
3rd Gen.
With Ruby and Sapphire came the first of the third generation, these two games were either loved or disliked by the original fans as a few of them decided they disliked the future installments of the franchise. However a large majority of the fan-base continued to enjoy the games and many more children and adults a like joined in and had as much fun as the rest of them. The games were the first to bring Pokémon into the world of full color, but that was all it brought, 2 on 2 battling along side other features such as Pokémon Contests and berry changes. These features, excluding contests being replaced in the HG and SS, became a common sight within the future Pokémon games.
Graphics and Design : 8/10
Beginning off you, like in generation 2, can be either a boy or girl, this time using characters that would appear in the anime, unlike the previous games, just ignore the fact Brendan only appeared once in the anime and made cameos in three movies... These characters look pretty good, they look a lot more like their anime and manga counter-parts and overall their designs were pretty solid, the animations of the over-world sprites looked good and overall the quality was very nice. The previous 251 Pokémon in addition to the new 135 Pokémon were now in full color and looked remarkable, there shinies could now be seen clearly and they finally looked more like their anime counterparts. This was a great step forward for the Pokémon designs as the previous handhelds restricted their designs heavily. Each attack had a decent animation much better than those in the original 6 games and had been given a lot more detail and looked great, however I myself usually disable fight animations as I like to speed through the game. As for other sprites within the game, supporting character or trainer alike, these looked pretty good and had quite a nice look overall.
As the over-world is concerned, this is probably the biggest draw-back of the game. You see the over-world tiles looked quite bad, however this was their first attempt on the Game Boy Advance and they later improved the graphics with Fire-Red and Leaf-Green. These however never really caused to much withdrawal from the game and it still looked quite good. It must be the nostalgic feel of being one of my most played generation, but I really like how shabby the over-world actually is, it adds to the charm and I really enjoy it. Be it underwater or in a cave the graphics looked okay to me and perhaps I'm just nostalgia blind, but I love the feel of revisiting the places with unique graphics such as diving. As for cut-scenes they are fairly limited and the only real cut-scenes don't appear until Emerald. However you do get the HM cut-scenes, these are fairly normal and don't interfere with the game-play much. Overall the graphics may be shabby but I love them non-the-less and there really isn't any reason not to as most of the game, sprite wise is very good and of a high quality.
Sound : 8/10
The music within the game is very nice and great, the advancements in handheld technology allowed for a much more inspiring experience as it allowed more advanced tracks to be played, many of the tracks played within Ruby and Sapphire and calming and charming, many of them fit into their location, adding to the atmosphere, battle music is intense and enjoyable and getting that random encounter music has never been as thrilling, the music kept an amazing standard high for later games to come. For example Sootopolis City's music is one of the better town music and has a great sound to it, this with one of the most iconic rival themes in my opinion, which is yet to be beat for me, made the game fantastic music wise! As per the attack sounds, these are all great and many of them are quite satisfying to here multiple times, be it getting your opponent down to the lack spec of life and taking him down with that move you so dearly love or even the simply effect you get from shocking an enemy, whatever you do it's such a great experience and quite memorable. Heck even the most basic action of cutting grass away using HM one is quite satisfying with the swooshing noise. My favorite theme from this game has to be the rival battle theme, this is by far one of my favorite tracks in Pokémon, and my favorite rival battle theme to date.
Addictiveness and Replay-ability : 10/10
Oh god this game is addictive! Not only does it have one of the largest replay-ability aspects of any franchise but it also offers a great experience each time you play. The game can be played for a long length of time, fighting the elite four as many times as you wish and maxing your team, or you can start again with a whole new team set up and experience so much more, through-out replaying you can find new things each time and it really is some of the most satisfying things about the replay-ability. As I said, each time you can start with a whole new team set up and try out new Pokémon and eventually you'll find your team. But not only does the game have a great replay-ability factor, it is also very addictive from maxing out and perfecting your team's EV points to mastering tactics the game offers so much, even if your not so into the battling aspect you can enjoy yourself through contests, breeding and even to some extent exploring, the game offers such a vast area to explore, from the mountainous regions to the wide and deep ocean and beneath the waves you've always got somewhere to go. Another great part is that you can do what you want most of the time, sure you can continue with the story but you can still do a lot.
Depth : 10/10
The game is full of depth, from length to the choices within the game it's just so great. Starting off the game is of a decent length, whether you go to max your team out or not, you've still got a bumpy road to the elite four, the game offers quite a decent experience with length as the length is ultimately decided upon how much you intend to do. For example, you can add a great amount of time to your play-through by doing contests and completing your PokeDex. This adds quite the significant amount to the games length as the length is all up to what challenges you go for. As for choice the game is littered with it, be it picking a Pokémon to training it, whether you casually train or invest time into EV training everything is up to you and you alone. If you want to breed, it's up to you, if you want to max your team, it's up to you, if you want to invest time into pokeblocks and contests.... you get the picture, there is a lot on offer and you get to pick how much of that offer you want. Be it a more complete experience or not. As for experience the game offers a unique experience when considering the fact unlike before the game features two Pokémon teams instead of the usual one, this added a new experiences as it allowed the player to see new things within the game story wise. Each play-through gave unique experiences and it was overall fantastic to revisit and play for this review. I managed to beat the game in a day using speed ups and a minimalistic team.
Story 8/10
You start off in a moving van, after moving from another region, most likely Johto, you move to Little-root, this is quite a refreshing change as previously you started off living in the town not moving into it. After setting up your clock you meet the neighbors, specifically your rival and their dad whom you save and receive your first Pokémon from, instead of being given one you fight with one first. After this you go through to Petalburg meet your dad and help a local kid catch his first Pokémon, this kid being Wally your SECOND rival so yeah Black and White wasn't the first to do so. Then you begin your travels, saving a Devon corp employee in Petalburg Woods from a member of a suspicious re-occurring team Magma, this team has a rival team called Team Aqua that seems to aid you in your fights against Magma. This is the polar opposite of how they act in Pokémon Sapphire. With this you continue through the game, stopping Groudon and Beating the elite four. So yeah sure the story's basic formula has been done before but it throws a lot more in such as two teams and two rivals, and having to stop a team from using a rampant Pokémon is something that wasn't used all that much yet in the franchise. Overall the story is pretty good as it does add quite a few bits and bobs into the original formula and does so effectively.
Difficulty N/A
This game, is pretty much as difficulty as you make it, if your trying to make it difficult for yourself use an under-leveled team, if your struggling level up your team. This really what I said in depth, as you see your choices are all up to you, if you got for a specific team set up the game may or may not be easier so really it's a varying factor. For example if your really want a challenge don't use type advantages and use an under-leveled team, this would mean items would come into use, what I mean by this for example, in Platinum I used a single under-leveled Pokémon to beat the elite four and champion, it was a level 40 Snorlax with max def and half evs in attack and hp, this with the item I picked made it possible. As you can see, you are the limit to this game. As for game-play itself, standard game-play can be easy and you can easily beat the game using the right Pokémon, the mechanics haven't changed much from the original games besides the obvious EV and double battle systems. Heck the most important mechanic change is that of how EVs and IVs word as with this generation the system was changed and items were introduced to speed up EV training as you could no longer max out all your pokemon's stats. The design of gyms were challenging at times as many of them were puzzles and offered something unique each time, for example Mossdeep Gym (Tate and Liza) was a challenging gym to get your head around at first but after a while you got a hang of it. Many of the gym fights and the elite four + champion were the hardest fights in the game as many of these used items more effectively than the fights outside, however they weren't that hard overall, but as I said using under-leveled Pokémon will make the difficulty increase if you wish it to. Finally the controls are solid, the menu is easy to navigate and the even the battle interface is perfect, your even able to re-organize your moves within battle using select.
Overall : 8.8/10
This game is a fantastic game, whether you play this or sapphire it's worth your time, emerald adds more to the mix such as a better story line and a whole new challenging battle frontier, however if you want a more basic experience then this is the game for you. Not only does it foof such a fun experience it offers multiple experiences and multiple ways to play. With that in mind I think I will recommend you to play this as I myself have the game IRL and I've almost completed it right (as in pokedex, contests and elite four) with only a few Pokémon missing. So do I think it's worth it? Heck yeah, and even if you disliked the game at first I urge you to give it a chance, perhaps you just dislike it since you grew up. As for me, Pokémon will always be my gateway to childhood.

Ruby: a Diamond in the Rough?   kabenon007
Another day. another Pokemon game it seems. Ruby does what every new Pokemon game does, adds a huge amount of Pokemon to the same game under a different name and region. This time, they add 135 new Pokemon and take you to the region of Hoenn. That brings the total Pokemon to 386. Now, this may sound a little Far'fetch'd, but I almost preferred the Pokemon games back before they were Muking around with adding more and more Pokemon. The task to catch-em-all was cool at first because it was something attainable, not to say that catching every Pokemon in these games is impossible, I just find it a bit Oddish that the way the game increases the difficulty of your achieving your catch-em-all dream is simply to add more to catch, no increase the actual gameplay difficulty. All the developers have to do is look outside for some sort of animal they can emulate in a Pokemon (Slug), slightly change the name (Slugma), and add some element effect to it, then Abra, Kadabra, Alakazam, you've got yourself a new Pokemon game.
I don't mean to be all Gloom and doom here. I know I'm asking for people to attach some Electrodes to me and fry me with electricity. I'm not saying this is a bad game. It's a Pokemon game, carrying over all the gameplay elements from previous games. But the Exeggcutive Director does not stray too far from the original formula. While there are some new additions (and I'll cover those in a sec, don't get your undies in a Tangela) these new additions really don't add anything substantial to the game or are underused.
Basic Pokemon game goes thus: Boy (or girl) receives Pokemon, embarks on glorious quest to obtain all gym badges without Slaking, MUST BECOME THE VERY BEST. LIKE NO ONE EVER WAS! ...*cough* *cough* Pardon the throat there. I know it wasn't the best singing ever, but I've been dealing with a cold all week and have been Koffing and Weezing all day. Ouch, what a Ghastly pun. My main point is that the real core difference between one Pokemon game and the next is the set of Pokemon, and eventually they are going to run out of Pokemon to make, or this will turn into Rocky or Jaws where they just keep adding numbers onto the end of the title.
But for those Seaking the nitty gritty aspects of this game, grab a Lanturn and let's go deeper. What's new here? The most obvious would be the double battles, in which two Pokemon from each team battle at the same time, for a total of two combatants. But, before you open your Meowth to say that this is the addition that saves this game, it by no means Seels the deal. The main problem is that the double battles happen far too infrequently. I can understand wanting to play your cards close to the chest, but the double battles, one of the coolest additions to Pokemon, are played so close to the chest you'd think they were tattoos.
But what about Abilities and Natures, cried the huddled masses. Yes, yes, these are actually what I enjoyed about this game. But before I Jynx myself, allow me to explain why. These Abilities and Natures, passive abilities that certain individual Pokemon have, change the way you play the game. You have to employ new strategies and team compositions to deal with the addition of these Abilities. To avoid sounding a bit cliched, or like I'm beating a dead Horsea, these are literally game-changers. Where I would have normally tackled a battle one way in a previous game, I now have to deal with Abilities as well.
And that's pretty much it. That's what's new. They even took out some of the old that was interesting... night and day sequences? Why would those not be implemented? Was someone afraid of taking a Chancey? And no one can say that the new region counts as something new, because it contains the same old same old as the old regions, someone just took a label maker to the game map and renamed the locations. It's not Johto anymore, it's Hoenn!
However, begrudging as it is to admit, this game is still a blast. Which is unfair really, because the only reason its such a blast is because of what came before it: the solid gameplay of the first Pokemon games reused and recycled is a pure gem. But what keeps the game from Bellossoming is that it relies too much on its tried and true formula. You all can think me a mean reviewer, as mean as Genghis Kangaskhan, but I would prefer to curl up with a chocolate Ho-oh and play Pokemon Red or Blue.

A Blast from the Past   Dumpy273
Pokémon Ruby Version is just amazing.
I have played and finished the game myself and I just couldn't stop playing on it, it is a very addictive game.Pokemon Ruby Version has a thoroughly great, yet complicated and fun storyline.
You are the main character you can catch all sorts of different pokemon.Remember the ol' sayin' Gotta' catch 'em all, ya' know. There are over 380 pokemon in this game for the player to obtain. Before I played this game my theory was "I'm going to hate this game" but instead this is actually my favourite game i've played in ... actually forever.
I have never played a game so addictive, fun, yet so complicated at the same time!
Don't get me started on the graphics of this game, for a Game Boy game, Pokemon Ruby Version has surprisingly great graphics!
After the elite four, guess what, YOU CAN REMATCH YOUR RIVAL, this method is an outstanding method for growing your pokemon's levels!
There is also a new method added in this game todo with battling, you can actually do double battles! Double battles are battles where you can send out two pokemon at one time!
Going completely off the topic here while I was playing this game and training my Groudon I actually bumped intosomething 1/2 special, a shiny pokemon, the reason I say that this shiny was 1/2 special was(because I was training in Victory road which is a cave, and there are always bats in caves) was because it was a shiny ... Yep, you guessed it, ZUBAT!
Going completely back to the actual topic, This game is just an awesome, super cool game all around.
Well Done!
Yours Sincerely,
Dumpy273

Pokemon Ruby Review   David25866
Pokemon Ruby one of the three generation 3 pokemon games!
Starting it off i really did not care much for the third gen it was the worst generation for me i thought most of the pokemon were really weird or looked retarded i really did not like the third gen animes they were really annoying and it just got really childish after the second gen but off of that lets actually get into other things!
The graphics are quite good for a game boy advance game the graphics didn't glitch like some other pokemon games i have played the battle graphics were good i didn't really like how the attacks looked real i mean flamethrower compared to the one in heart gold, platinum ect. it looked really bad but otherwise the graphics were good worthy of an 8!
The music in the game was quite good i liked all of the music in this game unlike the other pokemon game i liked all the music the other games i did find some music that got on my nerves the battle music in this game was mediocre i liked it but it did get annoying after a little while but i did really enjoy the music especially in Mossdeep City!
It was a little addictive I wouldn't play it daily like gold or silver but I would play it at least twice a week for about an hour or two i must admit it is the only pokemon generation i didn't really get into because i was really excited about getting it and then when i played it i was really disappointed :(.
This game i didn't really sense a story as much as other gens but the story to a certain extent was really good with the rivalry between aqua and Magma and how it changed which team was nicer to you depending on what game you were playing which i thought was very interesting but that is really the only thing i could get out of the story if you got anything else i would like to hear it :).
The game was a long game it took me the longest than any other pokemon game but it really didn't have much depth basically it was a pokemon game that i thought that didn't really have story or depth it was mostly a gameplay game which i didn't like i prefer games that have a good story and even better music so that is why it only gets a five :(.
In my opinion it was the hardest pokemon generation it took me about seven tries to get up to the champion the gym leaders were also harder than any other gym leader in other games i like a difficult game but it was very annoying trying to defeat the elite four over and over i will admit though that ruby and sapphire were much easier than emerald so i would play those two more than emerald.
To sum this all up i would say it is an okay game not a game you should start off with if you are just getting into pokemon i would say start with gold or Silver it is the only generation of pokemon that i would like to play a lot all the others are much better in my opinion this was the worst generation for me sorry if i have offended you with what I have said about this game but it is my opinion i would like to hear your guy's opinion as well but don't say it in a rude way! like i say at the end of my reviews I probably wouldn't recommend this to anyone which is something that i would not usually say because pokemon is my favorite thing ever but this would be the last gen i would recommend to my friends.

Pokemon Ruby   Divine Aurora
"New adventure, New story, New Pokémon, visually stunning".The game features a(n) all new story that takes place in the Hoenn region with an all new International criminal gang   organization known only as Team Magma who's motives are to drain out the sea to make/form new landmass for mainland Pokémon, using the legendary power of the myth Pokémon known as Groudon. There are a huge amount of legendary Pokémon in this game which is very uncommon compared to the amount of legendary Pokémon seen in previous installments in the franchise( a total of 7 legendary Pokémon). The game has some very interesting and new features like for example it now rains(it can rain heavily or drizzle), the sun shines(it can be bright or drought like),there are two kinds of bikes instead of the usual one kind(mach or acro bike).
Graphics: 10
"What can be expected out of the graphics portrayed in Pokémon Ruby?",Well Once again gamefreak manages to pull another visually stunning display of beautiful animation. The waves out on the water move, you can see your reflection in small puddles ocean's. The colorization is the most realistic to date, meaning it feels almost real. The Pokémon look almost exactly like how they appear in the pokedex during battle, but with better resolution(pixel wise) and a lot better graphic design and color is evenly distributed through out. The graphics and color on the buildings and in towns have only gotten better and more unique and descriptive. There are no game freezes or crashes nor are the any deformities in the Pokémon spirits. There are two types of grass in the game, tall dark green grass which have stronger leveled Pokémon than normal in them and shorter light greener grass which has generally weaker leveled Pokémon in them, the pixel quality is so clear you can easily tell the difference between the to without even paying to much attention to it.
Sound: 9
"What's the sound quality like Pokémon Ruby?", well  is like every other Pokémon game that comes out each one has its own new soundtrack, but the music does repeat constantly in battle which can get really annoying. The games sound quality its self is fine acoustics and pitch wise with no irregularity's such as sound distortions(unless you are using speed bar), scratches/repetitive beat repeat, or unsuspected stops and pick ups in sound when playing/listening to  the games music.
Addictiveness: 7
"So just how addicting is Pokémon Ruby to play, what's it's reply value?" I'm very likely to replay this game because it had a lot of legendary Pokémon in it, followed by a way better story and unique all new Pokémon that truly are the most creative out of the entire franchise. What also made this game addicting was the many new features such as the Pokémon contest and the berry maker mini game.In Pokémon contest there are different difficulty ranks, normal, super, ultra and master. Also there is a new feature/challenge introduced to the Pokémon franchise, The Battle tower where you battle trainers and there Pokémon back to back for battle points which can be used to purchase items.
Story: 7
"How does the story go in Pokémon Ruby"?,The story goes like any other Pokémon game, except this time you wake up just moving into the new town of Littleroot, and your Mom has you set your clock and when you go downstairs she said your Dad's on Tv(because he is a gym leader), but by the time you look its over and then your Mom has you go meet your next door neighbors and once you do that you hear cries for help  and then further go on to see the Pokémon professor Birch being chased down by a zigzagoon(new Pokémon) and so you have to get to his brief case to pick a Pokémon to help stop the zigzagoon from hurting him. After all that is set and done he gives you the Pokémon as a reward and then sets you off to challenge your rival over on the next route. Pokémon Ruby has a new evil organization up and developing in the shadow's of Hoenn, a evil organization know as Team Magma who's goal is to expand the land and dry up the sea's unlike there counter part, the evil Team Aqua who's goal is to flood the land and expand the sea for water Pokémon, ultimately both evil organizations awaken the super ancient and power legendary Pokémon of the sea and land, Groundon and Kyorge. So basically like it's like this, set off on your journey, raise battle your Pokémon and overcome the many challenges you will face while trying to become a Pokémon master by beating the elite 4 and filling your pokedex page with information on every Pokémon in the Hoenn region.
Depth: 6
"Just how big of a game is Pokémon Ruby?",The game is a fairly big, the hidden area's like the place's where you catch the three regi's(the three new elemental legendary Pokémon), the island where battle tower is(battle frontier), and also shoal cave(behind Mossdeep city), Sky pillar(off the coast of Pacifidlog town) , only add to how large the game is. The game offers gamers/fans of the franchise, a all new adventure with new features never before seen to the franchise, tied altogether with new and old Pokémon.
Difficulty: 6
"How hard was Pokémon Ruby, what's the difficulty like?",Well like most Pokémon games the difficulty inst an issue, they are really easy if you raise a well balanced team and or one Pokémon to an extremely high level or just flat out use legendary Pokémon. The game is easy if you have the type advantage over the Pokémon your batting, the games A.I. Is still brainless and makes consistent mistakes and purposely has huge gaps in its  battle strategy.
Overall: 9.2
Overall I gave the game a 9.2 because it story truly is the best plot/story line I've seen out of the franchise, and it's features such as berry blender mini game and the all new Pokémon contest halls only added to the games overall appeal and addictiveness. So between beating the gyms and earning all the contest ribbons this game offered a lot to do with hours of entertainment, and I would recommend it to any fan of the franchise or anyone just starting out the franchise.

Pokemon Ruby - 13 years old!?   Lexatom
Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire were released for the Game Boy Advance in 2003, and they both started the 3rd Generation of the Pokemon franchise. The 3rd Generation is regarded by many to be the best one to date, and although that may not be my opinion, it is still a great generation. How well does it hold up to other generations? Let's go into the review and find out.
Graphics - 9/10
The graphics got yet another improvement since this is a new generation. Since Generation 3 is on the Game Boy Advance, the graphics are much more clear to see and are less pixelated than the past 2 Generations. Each Pokemon has gotten a cool new sprite, some even updated, such as Haunter. The overworld sprites are awesome, too. Like I said, everything becomes much clearer and easier to see than they were in the past two Generations. There's not really much else I can say about the graphics, other than they're great.
Sound - 8/10
The music in this game is great too. There's just one problem I have with it. What's with the excessive use of the trumpets? It may just be the Game Boy Advance's technology at the time, but it still kind of bothers me. At least the music in this game is fun to listen to. I honestly wish they used some other instruments, if at all possible. The remakes Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire did use a lot of trumpets as well, but they also introduced some other instruments mixed in with that. So it may just be the available technology at the time.
Addictiveness - 10/10
This is a Pokemon game. We all know that with each Pokemon game that comes out new things are added to make you want to keep playing. Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire have added 135 new Pokemon, making the total Pokemon count go from 251 to 386. Sadly, Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire are incompatible with the two previous Generations, which means you have to start all over. Pokemon Firered and Leafgreen make up for this, though, so I guess it's alright. Secret Bases were introduced in Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire, and they are VERY addicting. Although, I feel as if they didn't work all that well until Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Nonetheless, there are many more things you can do in this game.
Story - 8/10
The story in this game is a fairly simple one. Two villainous groups named Team Magma and Team Aqua are trying to revive the two legendary Pokemon, Kyogre and Groudon. Team Aqua is trying to revive Kyogre to expand the sea, and Team Magma is trying to revive Groudon to expand the land. That's pretty much it. Like I said, the story is a fairly simple one. I feel that the remakes, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire have used the story much better. The addition of Rayquaza in Pokemon Emerald makes this story better, but it's still fairly simple. That doesn't mean it's a bad story, I just feel that this is one of the weakest stories compared to the other games in the franchise.
Depth - 10/10
I explained part of this in the Addictiveness section in this review. Every time a new core game in the series is added, there is much more to do. This game is no exception. With 386 Pokemon to collect, you'll be playing this game for a long while. Just don't let the internal battery run dry...at least the internal battery isn't as bad as Generation 2's was.
Difficulty - 8/10
Just like every other game in the franchise, the difficulty really depends on the team you are building. I feel as if the Gym Leaders in this Generation are some of the toughest Gym Leaders to date. There's not really any Pokemon you can find that have a type advantage around the area of the next gym, which makes it even tougher. I wouldn't say all of the Gym Leaders are as frustrating as Whitney, but they can still be pretty tough. The same can be said for the Elite 4 and Champion, although I feel as if the Champion got downgraded in Pokemon Emerald...
Overall - 9.3/10
Like I said in the intro to this review, this Generation is regarded as the best out of them all by many, but not to me. It's still a wonderful Generation, though, and it's actually the Generation I play most on this site. Generation 3 takes my 3rd to most favorite Generation, and the games included in this Generation are a blast to play. I hope you enjoyed this review.

Pokemon Ruby   FiresOfAxel
Pokémon Ruby....this is the game. This is the game that made me play it all night during school days. Then, it made me play it all day in the weekend. This masterpiece is a small part of my childhood and one of my favorite parts. What am I doing? Let's start the review.
        Graphics:10
Game freak took a big step forward to the Game Boy Advance. Many fans were enrage to the fact that the graphics look nothing like the first and second generations, but many fans disagree. In my opinion, this generation is the most beautiful of all the games. You could feel a scent of adventure through the towns and the routes,(my favorite moment being my first peek at Ever Grande City. The lustrous fields and the happy toned music was worth for the battles. So I'm giving the beautiful game a 10.
       Sound:10
Along with the graphics, the sound changed dramatically in the third gen. Almost, each track in Pokémon Ruby had trumpets, and the trumpets would give you the feel of victory, that you would give your best in each battle. Not to mention the Elite Four theme. The theme literally gave me goosebumps when I faced Sidney, the first of the Four. Game freak went through the limitation of the sound in the Game Boy Advance and made it a great trip through music.

      Addictiveness :9
The addiction in this thrilling. The addition of 135 new Pokémon, the most added since Generation I (at the time of its release), bringing the total to 386. Many new Pokémon have previously unseen type combinations, while onlytwo of them are related by evolution to olderPokémon. Two new forms of Unown are also introduced. A brand-new region, Hoenn, with its own set of eight Gym Leaders and Elite Four. Player characters are also different from before.Seven new Poké Ball variants, replacing those found in Johto. The only drawback is that it doesn't have ant battle that has the thrill like Champion Blue or Trainer Red in second generation.
      Story:8
The story in this is simple like any other pokemon game. Collect eight gym badges, defeat the Elite Four and Champion. They only add some addictiveness like Team Aqua and Team Magma, whose focus is on capturing the legendary Pokémon Kyogre and Groudon,
respectively.
      Depth:10
The depth is amazing I'm just going to list all the changes in the game compared to earlier games.
The addition of 135 new Pokémon, the most added since Generation I (at the time of its release), bringing the total to 386. Many new Pokémon have previously unseen type combinations, while onlytwo of them are related by evolution to olderPokémon. Two new forms of Unown are also introduced. The addition of 103 new moves, bringing the total to 354.Pokémon may now have one or two of 77 different Abilities which can change the tide of battle or affect out-of-battle gameplay. The Pokémon Storage System has changed from a text-based interface to a full-color graphical user interface. Boxes, while remaining at 14, now have 10 extra spaces, allowing for storage of 140 additional Pokémon (for a total of 420 Pokémon). The introduction of Pokémon Contests, where Pokémon show off their style in one of five Contest categories, with Contest stats enhanced by Pokéblocks. Through this and other methods Ribbons can be won for Pokémon, which they will retain when transferred to a Generation IV game.A brand-new region, Hoenn, with its own set of eight Gym Leaders and Elite Four. Player characters are also different from before.Seven new Poké Ball variants, replacing those found in Johto.New villainous teams, Team Aqua and Team Magma, whose focus is on capturing the legendary Pokémon Kyogre and Groudon, respectively.Weather conditions, introduced before, can now be found on the field and activate at the start of battle, while one more, hail, has been added.Double Battles, where both sides use two Pokémon at a time, introduced.Communication capabilities with the e-Reader to activate certain events. All handheld Generation III games have a framerate of 60, allowing for smoother animations.Link trades and battles are made possible between Japanese and international releases due to the use of a worldwide character set. Due to the fact that online trading was introduced only in Generation IV, however, most are not made aware of this. DAMN
         Difficulty:7
The game isn't that challenging. The Elite Four and the champion would be only a smear 5 levels above you if you didn't grind levels. Nuzlockes aren't even that much of a challenge if you are careful about it.
         Overall:9.5
Like I said, this is my childhood game, so I might give this game more love then a average pokemon game. The thing is that this game is amazing and everyone who played had a great time.

Pokemon Ruby Review   tdude1480
Pokémon ruby was one of the first Pokémon games I played all the way through to the end, so I think I would like to share my opinion of this game with you all. :)
This game features the legendary grouden on centers on you just starting as a Pokémon trainer, making your way up to become the champion and beating your rivals, as well as trying to catch all the Pokémon.
It also gives you the opportunity to capture Latias after you beat the elite four, which I found was a good challenge.
My Overall rating- 9.1
The Pokémon games are all classics in my opinion, offering good easy game play that is good for taking up free time or just generally preoccupying you. Pokémon ruby isn't really any different from the others, its the same old catch all the Pokémon beat all the gyms and become the champion.
Graphics- 9
I think that this game along with Sapphire started a bit of a Pokémon move animation revolution and this one is actually in color which I liked.
Some neat little things I enjoyed about the graphics are your reflections in the water, you can actually go behind houses for once, and when you walk on the beach your footprints slowly fade..
Sound-7
The Pokémon games have always had that annoying music in every town, but at least in this one its not to terrible as far as repetitive sounds in every town and the same sounds for just everything! So I liked the variation, but the noise still gives me a headache if I leave the volume on to long haha
Addictiveness-10
This game just pulls you in right from the start, whether it be grinding or traveling or even just solving a puzzle like with the regis, you always have something to do in the game that keeps you busy, never a dull moment in it so to speak. So I would give it a good 10/10 on addictiveness because once you start, you will have to force yourself to eat and carry out the daily processes of life.
Story-6
The story in Pokémon ruby is just about the same as every other Pokémon game, catch the Pokémon, become the champion, stop the bad guys from taking over the world, blah blah blah....
Depth-10
I think this game has great depth since it will take 200++ hours to beat it, if not longer. It also has several online competitive gaming aspects to it with the secret bases and battle frontier as well as the Pokémon trading over wi-fi feature that was introduced in ruby/sapphire.
Difficulty-
This game isn't extremely hard because even in defeat you generally get a ton of experience from taking down at least ONE of the enemies Pokémon before losing, the hardest part about this game is the elite four and most players have beaten it 2343285 x 10 to the 3rd power times... the most difficult part about the game is simply finding enough time to play it all the way through to the end.

No words can describe how amazing this game is....YOU MUST BUY IT NOW!   RedHotToddy
Back in my days, Pok?mon was like the biggest thing around! I mean, You couldn't go one place without seeing someone playing Pok?mon on their Game boy! It was practically amazing, Pok?mon WAS one of the best animes around, You can't lie on that, I had like literately all of the games...And the one I remember the most is this one, Pok?mon ruby, This is without a doubt, The greatest game I have ever played on the Game boy advance! And the greatest Pok?mon game I have ever played as well.
Story-7/10
The main plot behind this big adventure is that The game will let you start off by picking a boy or a girl, Once you pick, Then you start naming your character and jump right into the action! Okay the actual story is that some new origination called team magma is planning to wipe out the entire sea to make room for to make themselves some new land/mass for their Pok?mon, to do this, They will use some extraordinary Pok?mon called Groudon to help out with their plan. It is now up to you save the day!
Gameplay-9/10
Pokemon ruby plays like your typical Pok?mon game, You control a?boy or a girl, and you basically run around doing quests and well, Catching Pok?mon! Overtime, the Pok?mon will be hidden in bushes, so if you run through bushes, then you will engage into battle and have to use your Pok?mon to battle the one you found! Like all other Pok?mon titles, There are a large amount of Pok?mon to find, And finding all of them Will take sheer wit and patience! Overtime also, You will be asked by certain people to duel with them, and once you do, You will have to use all the Pok?mon you have to take out your opponent. After completing battles, You will be rewarded a big amount of experience points for your Pok?mon that you used, Once you collect a large amount of experience, Your Pok?mon will level up, and they will get more powerful and tougher then usual. All this Pok?mon to find capture makes up for some serious large amount of replay value. Winning battles against characters can also win you a big amount of loot, Which can be used at the Pok?mon mart to buy cool stuff such as potions to heal your Pok?mon's health, Poke balls which will let you capture Pok?mon, And a whole lot of more. To capture Pok?mon, It's simple! Just start a battle with a loose Pok?mon, Then select Poke ball from the command menu, Then It is all yours to keep! That is pretty much it for the gameplay I guess....
Graphics-9/10
My eyes, This game was made in like what? 2003? And It most certainly astonishing, Heck! This is probably the best looking Pok?mon I have ever seen in my whole life! The graphics are so breathtakingly beautiful, And the environments, locales and places you will be exploring are Big, Gorgeous and bursting with color. I will say this once, and only once Nintendo, Pok?mon has got to be by far, One of your best looking series, Which says alot for the console titles, Those are pretty good as well! But nothing near as good as this title! All the Pok?mon are detailed as well, They are all cute, detailed and overall very nice looking, But there are so many of them! I can't even remember what all of them look like, Oh well, It's Pok?mon! What to expect? If I had to pick the most gorgeous game series on the Game boy advance, I would totally pick Pok?mon all the way! Great job Nintendo!
Sound-10/10
Ah the Pok?mon soundtrack, Let's all give a big round of applause to Junichi masuda! He is the man who has composed the beautiful soundtrack to all of the amazing Pok?mon titles, I wonder where He is today....But anyways, The soundtrack is probably the best I have ever heard in?A game boy advance game, It is beautifully orchestrated, And everything sounds amazing. Same goes with the sound effects, They are your typical Pok?mon stuff, But who cares? Least they are great. There are of course a bunch of rememberable songs in the Pok?mon series which have been saved in our heads for god knows how long. Anyways, That is pretty much it for the soundtrack! Take care junichi! Keep doing the soundtrack...I love it.
Addictiveness-10/10
How can this game not be fun everybody? It is certainly the most fun you will ever have on the Game boy advance! Is this a game that I will play again? OF COURSE! How can people hate Pok?mon? It is one of the greatest series Ever brought to us by Nintendo and Hal laboratory! I am never going to shelf this game! It doesn't deserve ANY of that stuff....
Depth-10/10
Of course I am giving this game?a 10 on depth! It offers SO much for you to do!? There is so much Pok?mon, badges, and all other kinds of stuff to be unlocked in this game! Say I owned this game for? a long time, And I have already 100% it....I mean sure It? takes alot of time to get everything, But thats the point, Pok?mon titles are supposed to last you a VERY VERY long time.
Difficulty-6/10
I say, for Pok?mon, This isn't really that hard, But still, It is still quite challenging in most parts, But OMG! The final boss, He took me at least a week to get past! But other then that, The rest of the game is otherwise a cakewalk....It never ever gave me that much trouble. Which is a good thing for me!
Overall-10/10
What else can a guy like me say? YOU MUST BUY THIS GAME. It is without a shadow of a doubt one of?THE best games you can get on the Game boy advance today, Sure theres Mario and all of that, But there is Pok?mon still! After all,? It is one of Nintendo best?series ever! So buy this game! I gave this game a 10 because how amazingly fun it is and how much it offers for you to do in the end, SO just go ahead and buy it now!

Pokemon Ruby   marcus047
Game Background- This is gamefreak's 7 installment in the Pokémon franchise for Japan and gamefreak's 6th installment in the Pokémon franchise for America. The game features a(n) all new story that takes place in the Hoenn region with an all new International criminal gang   organization known only as Team Magma who's motives are to drain out the sea to make/form new landmass for mainland Pokémon, using the legendary power of the myth Pokémon known as Groudon.
Graphics- Once again gamefreak manages to pull another visually stunning display of beautiful animation. The waves out on the water move, you can see your reflection in small puddles ocean's. The colorization is the most realistic to date, meaning it feels almost real. The Pokémon look almost exactly like how they appear in the pokedex during battle, but with better resolution(pixel wise) and a lot better graphic design and color is evenly distributed thru out. The graphics and color on the buildings and in towns have only gotten better and more unique and descriptive. There are no game freezes or crashes nor are the any deformities in the Pokémon spirits, so for graphics I gave the game a 10 out of 10.
Sound- The game is like every other Pokémon game that comes out each one has its own new soundtrack, but the music does repeat constantly in battle which can get really annoying. The games sound quality its self is fine acoustics and pitch wise with no irregularity's such as sound distortions(unless you are using speed bar), scratches/repetitive beat repeat, or unsuspected stops and pick ups in sound when playing/listening to  the games music, so for sound I gave the game a 10 out of 10.
Addictiveness- I'm very likely to replay this game because it had a lot of legendary Pokémon in it, followed by a way better story and unique all new Pokémon that truly are the most creative out of the entire franchise. What also made this game addicting was the many new features such as the Pokémon contest and the berry maker mini game.So for addictiveness I gave this game a 8 out of 10.
Story- The story goes like any other Pokémon game, except this time you wake up just moving into the new town of Littleroot, and your Mom has you set your clock and when you go downstairs she said your Dad's on Tv(because he is a gym leader), but by the time you look its over and then your Mom has you go meet your next door neighbors and once you do that you hear cry's for help  and then further go on to see the Pokémon professor Birch being chased down by a zigzagoon(new Pokémon) and so you have to get to his brief case to pick a Pokémon to help stop the zigzagoon from hurting him. After all that is set and done he gives you the Pokémon as a reward and then sets you off to challenge your rival over on the next route. The story picks up a lot from that point on, its dialog is better than anything seen previously in the franchise, the new rising Team Magma pushes your skills as a trainer to there peak, so for story I gave the game a 9 out of 10
Depth- The game is a fairly big, the hidden area's like the place's where you catch the three regi's(the three new elemental legendary Pokémon), the island where battle tower is(battle frontier), and also shoal cave(behind Mossdeep city), Sky pillar(off the coast of Pacifidlog town) , only add to how large the game is. The game offers gamers/fans of the franchise, a all new adventure with new features never before seen to the franchise, tied altogether with new and old Pokémon.I estimate to beat the game fully any where from 3-7 days assuming you play for 1-2 hours each day, so for depth I gave the game a 9 out of 10.
Difficulty-Well like most Pokémon games the difficulty inst an issue, they are really easy if you raise a well balanced team and or one Pokémon to an extremely high level or just flat out use legendary Pokémon. The game is easy if you have the type advantage over the Pokémon your batting, the games A.I. Is still brainless and makes consistent mistakes and purposely has huge gaps in its  battle strategy, so for difficulty I gave the game a 6 out of 10.
Overall- Overall I gave the game a 9.5 out of 10, because it story truly is the best plot/story line I've seen out of the franchise, and it's features such as berry blender mini game and the all new Pokémon contest halls only added to the games overall appeal and addictiveness. So between beating the gyms and earning all the contest ribbons this game offered a lot to do with hours of entertainment, and I would recommend it to any fan of the franchise or anyone just starting out the franchise.

Pokemon Ruby - Dissapointing   achyboy777
Where do we start with this, very disappointing. It isn't that the game is bad, it was just very disappointing compared to Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green. I do appreciate that this game was released before Fire Red and Leaf Green however after playing Fire Red I was very disappointed about how much better Fire Red was. That aside this game is still good and well worth playing
Graphics - 7/10
The Graphics on this game are well... adequate. I don't like the graphic of your character however the sprites are quite good and I also like the layout of the towns (if they count as graphics).
Sound - 6/10
Once again very disappointing on the Game Boy Advance. However this is the one category that Pokémon Ruby beats Pokémon Fire Red. The Legendary Pokémon battles music are good but not epic. The music for in game isn't very impressive, as is the in battle music. But at least it doesn't have the horrific Pokémon sounds when you begin wild Pokémon battle.
Addictiveness - 7/10
I will admit that I did end up playing this a lot however I did not come home everyday and immediately turn on the laptop wanting to play it (like Fire Red) however it will take up your time and is still very enjoyable.
Story 6/10
Not very exciting. Team Magma and Aqua I wasn't impressed with. Not much else to say really.
Depth 8/10
Overall there is not much to do after the main game. Then you may be wondering why I have given it an 8. There is only 1 word for it. REGIES. It is so entertaining trying to get them, so complicated and so FUN!
Difficulty - 6/10
Really easy game. The one difficult area is the Pokémon League which is quite hard to defeat.
I hope you have enjoyed reading my short review on Pokémon Ruby, please rate as your opinion is appreciated.

Pokemon Ruby Rating   GardevoirLucario
Quite a good game with surprisingly great graphics compared to the most recent generation. Gen III has obviously taken the cake for most improved graphics. It is not the best, but that's justifiable being as it was only 2004 when the game was released.
The sound is typical, but still solid, it could be better, but still solid. It is the epitome of sticking with what worked, and it does work.
I always play this game, it's super fun and I absolutely cannot stop, it is really fun battling and trying to be the very best, like no one ever was.
The story's a bit patchy at first, but the further you go into the game the more personal relationships become and the more you begin to understand the story.
It is really in depth and this time you actually have a dad for once, this brings about a new depth and a bit more of a back story for your character along with giving them a goal or motivation on a family level.
It can be difficult quite a bit of times, especially once you beat Flannery, it becomes a bit harder, but still relatively easy. There are actually 2 gyms in which you might have to be like 5 levels ahead of all their Pokémon and have them know at least one move their Pokémon are weak to and you'll need an endless supply of potions and revives, but again relatively easy.

Pokemon Ruby Review   StuffAllstar
Pokemon Ruby is one of the best Pokemon games, in my opinion, and is quite an addictive game. When playing the game you felt compelled to play more as you get farther through the story. The game's story will make you want to learn more of what is going on. In this game the antagonists (bad guys if you don't know that word) are Team Magma.
Team Magma are lead by Maxie  and he is obsessed with expanding the world's land mass and fails to realize what would happen if this happened. Speaking of the world's land mass, Maxie looks for the legendary Groudon who ( as the name suggests) is a ground type Pokemon. Anyways i forgot to mention your allies and Team Magma's enemies, they are Team Aqua.
Team Aqua wants to stop Team Magma from expanding the world's land mass and tries to tell Team Magma that doing so would destroy the lives of thousands. Now to game play.
The controls on this game are quite simple, for the only buttons you'll really use are: A, B, START, SELECT. Now you may be wondering, why would he say all this but leave out the main character's hometown, do not worry that is coming soon. Anyways this game is so long yet enjoyable the whole way, if you plan on 100% this game you are either a boss or a very serious gamer or you are very patient.
Now on to what you were wondering about, your character (boy or girl) starts off in the back of a moving truck not at home. After you hop out of the truck  you are introduced to your new home and you are in the town of Littleroot which is a quiet town. Your character's mother forces you to go and check your clock and set it. Afterwards you go to your neighbors house to see Professor Birch who is not there at the moment but his daughter May is. You say hi and all then you go find out Prof. Birch is being chased around by a Poochyena! You grab a pokeball from Prof. Birch's bag and that Pokemon is your starter and so begins your journey!
If I were to play this game again (have about 10 times) i would still enjoy it and would try to think of a new team to have instead of my usual. The game's graphics are amazing for the Game Boy Advance and is absolutely beautiful. The sound (music) is excellent as always my favorite music would have to be the Champions music! The other sound (sound effects) are cool for it's time really great and is almost perfect! All in all this game is in my top five favorite Pokemon games (Hey that's funny since i did a video about that)

Pokemon Ruby: The Good Old Gemstone Series   annikaprue
So it's the Ruby version of Pokemon... Let's start, shall we? Pokemon Ruby is quite similar to Pokemon Emerald and Pokemon Sapphire. There are very few differences and have the same goals.
The graphics are somehow repetitive, but addictive. We can now identify the wild Pokemon by only seeing it's shadow. This is somehow satisfying because you will know immediately if you should flee, battle, or throw a Poke Ball. The graphics have certainly improved since the first version.
I have to admit, though, that the sound is sometimes annoying especially if you are looking for Pokemon to catch and you keep finding the same Pokemon over and over again. I sometimes lower the volume because of this. Despite that, the sound is pretty good and sometimes gets me humming along with it.
Being a huge Pokemon fan, most people would say that it's natural for me to rate addictiveness 10 out of 10. However, Pokemon fan or not, you will be surprised how addictive this game will be if you try it. With the same 'Gotta catch 'em all' motto, Pokemon puts a strange, warm happiness within our hearts. It's like taking care of the pet you never had, such as a dog, cat, or a hamster. Some Pokemon remind me of my long lost hamster, which is probably one of the reasons I love Pokemon. And with the taunting and insults of your rival, you will definitely dream of beating him in front of the whole world. I hope he/she knows who the real wanna-be is.
The story is very good, and slightly funny. With plenty of antagonists like your rival, a good person here and there, and your Pokemon at your side, I bet that you'll love this game. Your rival is basically your main enemy, and is sometimes mean towards you. Despite that, the story is complete and satisfying.
The depth includes your goals, needs, and dreams. So if you wish to finish this game, I'm afraid you're going to need a lot of time. I don't want to spoil the fun, so you can find out how many surprises you're going to find out by yourself. With the mysterious legendary Pokemon, new features and enemies, you are sure to have a great time playing this game.
As for the difficulty, I wouldn't want to rid you of your frustration when hard times come. It's all part of the game But don't worry, whichever battle technique you choose, you are sure to succeed if you try hard enough. As for the other difficulties, you might want to find that out for yourself. Therefore, I highly recommend that you play this game if you want to have a great time.

Fantastic   mscoral
Pokémon Ruby, overall, is a great game to play. The graphics are decent, and make it enjoyable to play. The graphics for the game are cute, and attracts a whole range of ages to play and get addicted to. The depth in this game is pretty decent. In Pokémon sapphire you have team aqua, who tries to expand the sea for water Pokémon. In ruby, its the opposite and team magma tries to increase the land for land Pokémon. The difficulty for this game is perhaps not as difficult as the old school Pokémon as we all know and love, but there is still a decent amount of challenges. Especially in the gyms, they mostly all have puzzles you must solve in order to get to the gym leader. The sound is also very good, and I haven't yet noticed a skip in the sound track, and it feels as if I am still playing this game on my game boy advance. This Pokémon game is unique, because it has a different set of Pokémon then Pokémon sapphire. I suggest you look up which different Pokémon come for either game. This game to me is better then sapphire, but its all in opinion. I really suggest you give this game a whirl. Enjoy!

Pokemon: Ruby   fireking1058
Hello, It's me and today I will be reviewing Pokemon: Ruby. So the first time I played this. I was kind of disappointed. Because I noticed no difference between this game and Pokemon: Emerald. Now I know Nintendo does this to some Pokemon games, but at least their stories were different . The only difference I noticed was that the suit or whatever you were wearing was red instead of green. Other than that it's a good game since I liked emerald. I consider these two games to be the evolution of Pokemon. Considering the fact that it went from really pixel crazy and kids dying *cough* Lavender Town *cough* to an amazing game with better graphics and more to do. Even a better multiplayer system! The sound I rated this because I never really liked Pokemon music. It was always to digital and bland for me to like it. Graphics, it's on the GBA, don't expect good graphics. But I guess they were OK, for their time that is. Well that's pretty much it for this review. Oh, but one last thing, the depth in the game was amazing. There was so much to do and the multiplayer was amazing. But I'll see you guys, later.

This game is not the best Pokémon game I've played, but its for sure a heck of a lot of fun! When you play with friends, it can be even more fun, because you can test your Pokémon's skill in battle against real people and not a console or computer. I think this has to be my favorite Pokémon game on this console so far, and it's also very addictive for me! The depth of this game is greatly improved from other games on this console for sure! I recommend this game for people who love Pokémon games and cartoons.

Get unlimited time in the Safari zone!
It's really simple. All you have to do is to bring a Pokemon that knows Sweet Scent and use it over and over again. You can attract as much Pokemon as you want without wasting steps.
The day care center trick
when you put a pokemon in a day care center, each step you take equals one exp. point. if you want to level up a pokemon faster while it is in the center, you must first obtain the acro bike from rydel. then fly over to lavaridge town and bike all the way right until you reach the desert. bike over to the mudslide and face it. now here is the tricky part, find a way to hold down the UP button on your gameboy. leave it on overnight, and your set. this may not work as well for people without an sp.
Unlimited Time in Safari Zone
If you have the Acro Bike equipped, get on it while you're in the Safari zone. If you hop up and down in one spot of grass, you can run into Pokemon without using up steps.

The reason they only do that with one computer is because the save files save locally. If you want it to work on others, you would probably have to put it on a flash drive to transfer it to another computer.

If davideo sees this, can you make your saved pokemon file load on all computers instead of the one you started playing with. maybe the game saves on your account and you can access it when you play the game as long as you are on the account you see it on?
