Well that's besides the point, welcome to the ask Zlinqx anything thread, AKA ask the crazy ranting Swedish guy anything, AKA ask Zlinqxthecooluser™/Zlinqxthebridgeuser™ anything.

Here you can do what the title suggests and ask me questions on just about everything, serious or less serious matters. Ever wondered about my stance on a political issue? What I think about a video game? What color socks I'm wearing? Want my advice on something? Then look no further!

I haven't been to Russia so I can't make a direct comparison but from my understanding it's two very different countries.We don't really have a shared history so we haven't directly influenced eachother much. We're very different in terms of our values, Sweden is one of the most if not the most leftist country when it comes to things like LGBT issues, Gender Equality and we're a country that takes human rights very seriously. On the contrary things like Same Sex Relations are outlawed in Russia. Another point where we differ is that we're very aggressive in trying to combat climate change while the Russian government isn't.

Really from what I've seen the current ruling party in Russia with Putin sort of lacks any clear ideology (probably a deliberate strategy to attract more voters) however they seem to be learning more conservative than anything else. From what I can tell Putin and his government is mainly concerned with trying to increase their influence abroad with all the spying they do, cyber attacks etc. When it comes to economic policies, they do seem to have a mixed economy with state owned corporations but they also seem to be very far away from democratic socialism like what we have here in Sweden (flat tax rate which is more associated with pro market economies, high income inequality compared to our relatively low income inequality etc). Essentially only adopting the parts of socialism that inceases state power rather than trying to help the living conditions of people which is a large part of what social democracy is about. There's also bee corruption scandals in Russia and things like freedom of press seems to be in a highly uncertain state there.

MarioLucarioFan64 : Depends on what you define as a "gamer". If you mean someone who plays video games a lot, then yes I'd probably call myself a gamer. I play them whenever I get the chance, though I'm becoming increasingly busy with school and other things as the years go on which leaves less time for me to play video games, at least during certain parts of the year. I expect I'll have a hard time preserving the habit in a few years when I'm attending university.

It's neat. I've wanted one for quite some time ever since first becoming active on the forums, though my reasons for it have changed over time. it's fun to see what questions people end up asking me and answering them. I also think I'm the only active AMA owner from a non English speaking country so that's pretty cool.

Sword legion : No one does, I don't even know what cheese is. Some do, some don't. I would guess it's as popular here as it is in the US. I probably eat gouda more than anything else though. It tastes better, and doesn't have holes meaning more actual cheese.

We do feel very strongly about people confusing Sweden with Switzerland though.

darthyoda: Because I don't know how to leave Vizzed. I try to but I keep getting redirected to the homepage (please send help).

I did not choose Sweden, it chose me (or something like that). On a serious note even though I know it was a joke question, I could've easily ended up living in Egypt in stead since my dad originally immigrated from Egypt to Sweden. In terms of my ancenstors I'm only 1/4th Swedish. So the Zlinqx you all know and love could be a very different person.

I would say I don't really have a favorite band since I'm not a huge music listener. I just listen to whatever I enjoy whenever I feel like it, which results in me having some fairly weird and varied tastes that can change drastically depending on my mood. Lately for example, I've been listening to NSP a lot.

Yes!

To answer your question probably McDonalds. I don't think there is a single person living in Sweden who doesn't know what it is unless they've been living isolated from society. I think it's as common here or at the very least close to as common as it is in the US and other parts of the world. Hello Kitty on the other hand most people have at least heard about but I don't think it's as universally known. Unlike McDonalds, it's not something I would expect older people to always know about for example.

Hadn't even heard of that until now. Just looked it up and I'm still kind of confused, reminds me of Tamagotchi. Not going out of my way to try it but I might end up playing it for some unforeseen reason down the road..

gamerforlifeforever :  The most common example I can think of would be pyttipanna (which is the actual Swedish word for it). It literally translates into small pieces in a pan. It's a mix of potato, onion, meat (can be many different types of meat really) usually served with egg and red beets. 



Swedish food isn't the most exciting looking.

A little bit, but generally Stunfisk is still in a tier of its own. Too bad it hasn't gotten an alola form that's part fighting. Drampa is a boss though.

If talking about Sweden as in our government probably education level. Our public school system has gone from being one of the world's best performing to about the same level as the US on average. Meanwhile our neighbouring country Finland, is the best performing western country in the world. Jokes on them we have a stronger economy

If talking about Sweden as in Swedes in general probably giving off a warm impression lol. People tend to see most of us as cold and distant. We really enjoy our personal space. Of course there are exceptions but talking about it generally.

Yes, you would be surprised at the amount of times I've seen people confuse "Swiss" and "Swedish" or just entirely mix up the two countries in general. It used to really grind my gears.

I wouldn't say we have any that are generally accepted by everyone. Sweden is for the most part very liberal compared to something like the US though so some people see many Americans as boisterous bible thumpers/red necks (the south anyway). I can't remember ever hearing a stereotypes about the Netherlands or dutch people. Probably because like Sweden, the Netherlands is not a significant enough country for most people outside it to pay attention.

OmegaVenomous : Actually there was a period of time when it was extremely popular on the site and a lot of people were talking about it, when it was first becoming big. It was back when everyone was jumping on the bandwagon to play it, now the hype has sort of died down so people don't talk about it as much. Personally I've played it and I liked it. It's good at what it does and has some great characters and witty writing, the narrative view with the different routes and how it mixed with the gameplay was  very interesting. On the other hand I find it somewhat hard to take seriously at times and also highly overrated (considering how the fanbase hype it up as the greatest thing in existence). I wouldn't really consider it "the best game of all time". More of an Earthbound fan overall.
