Yes, you read that right folks. The Legend of Zelda being rendered in the beautiful Unreal 4 engine by a fan by the name of CryZENx. And it looks absolutely stunning.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFx38t4ydY0

I've seen Ocarina of Time 3D, and I thought that was amazing, but it's nothing compared to this. Crisp, clean graphics with immersive lighting and effects. Moving blades of grass as the wind blows by, and clouds sail over head. It's downright infatuating, I feel like I could ask for little more from the fanbase although perhaps Hyrule Field could use a bit more to do in it.

Summoning some people to hear their thoughts on it. And yes Eirinn, I know download is an issue for you, but I think you might want to see how this plays out. Either way I'm summoning you, so here goes nothing.

I've actually seen something like this before, but it was just the Kokiri forest...in fact you may have been the one that showed me that. Just do yourself a favor and don't look up Mario in Unreal Engine 4. Please. Mario is nightmare fuel in the video I saw, and Luigi isn't much better. Lol

This is really beautiful though, and it shows what Nintendo could be doing (probably) with their Zelda games graphically speaking, but for some reason they've shied away from realistic graphics in any sense of the word since Twilight Princess. I think this is the best art style for Zelda games, given their more serious themes, the loyal and long running fan base, the lore, and the theories that have popped up.

Man if a legit OoT reboot popped up looking this engrossing even I'd pick it up, and I was less than impressed with OoT as a game. While graphics aren't everything, anyone who says they don't play a potentially huge part in a game being amazing is in denial. Lol

Thanks a ton for summoning me to this. Definitely wanted to see it. As for downloading...it's not a pirate or hack, so I might give it a go (doubt my old PC could handle it). Or were you talking about my download speeds? Those are a big problem too as you've seen.

Eirinn :

Yeah, I somehow did not want to watch that video. XP

Exactly. Zelda was best when it could handle being dark and stylized. (Even Wind Waker understood that and created some great environments with it's shading. The models themselves on the other hand weakened this effect.) They have many loyal fans, but I somehow expect Nintendo will keep things in a box. They always do, and they don't like to make us expect anything too large.

Breath of the Wild does seem to hold some promise though. However, I intend to hold my tongue until it actually comes out. If I deem the Nintendo Switch unworthy (And the Wii U did NOT make me feel satisfied with my purchase.) Then Breath of the Wild could be the last Zelda game I end up purchasing.

I got MM 3D, and I kindof had to force myself to finish it. The experience I found to be actually very much the same as the original N64 version in spite of major graphical improvements regarding some things.

The rest of the changes being gameplay. They really made Gyorg and Twinmold much more engaging. Goht was changed fairly negatively though from what I remember. Something about the bow and arrow no longer being that great of an option? Or maybe I'm mistaken. I can't tell.

If you think that this is a good enough reason to redownload (a new version of) OOT, then I would be inclined to agree. I mean, this is better than OOT 3D, it's like. . . OOT so real it's UNREAL with the shading, and wind and everything. It's fantastic! If only we could get such a masterful environment as this on the Nintendo switch or Wii U (which I think the switch can because of the fact that it's using Unreal) So the prospects are quite exciting. At least until the fact that Nintendo is nearly a generation behind sits in. Oh well, it technically is a handheld to so. . . only time will tell.

Sword legion : ehh...looks nice but don't think I would personally enjoy it. It does looking amazing in comparison to original/3DS re-release, but I don't know. It's "too" upgraded to me...Like Twilight Princess was best to me personally if you wanted a more so realistic approach to it graphically wise. When watch this feel like am playing Skyrim, Witcher, or some open world game. Just doesn't feel like Zelda to me then even if story is 100% same...the old look to it just signifies it more to me (and though still prefer N64 version, 3DS look to it was still fine with me)

I'd probably watch a couple videos of certain locations but...wouldn't play it most likely. If games look too overtop/over powered in graphics end & doesn't match games setting/tone or original feel behind it...then I just get lost/uninterested. Plus sure Nintendo might see video & take it down.

oh, that's just stunning

i'd buy it in a heartbeat, to be honest. i'd always wanted to play OoT or its 3D remake but if they looked like this i wouldn't be quite as nonchalant anymore. i kind of stopped asking for it since i got MM and we never found OoT in the store so

I really like what the graphics had to offer. Its not something you always find in a game like this. I really loved how the colours came alive the most while link running outside. Plus the music was really nice to listen too as well. But....I have a feeling Nintendo might knock, that down scratch that I know they will sadly. Since well Nintendo is Nintendo I can't really say anymore on that to do with them. I'm sure a whole lot of Zelda fans would like this game when seeing the gameplay of it.

sonicthehedgehog57 :

Yeah, I can understand.

There is a fan rebuilding of TP out there somewhere I saw. Not sure how well it was modded, but I knew it let you use a mouse I think? And it was for PC. They had plans to let you make your own dungeons and things. You might want to look into that.

NintendoFanKimmy :

MM3D did the same thing to me actually. XD

Eniitan :

Yeah. . . I think it's pretty bogus how Nintendo treats fan projects. Meanwhile Sega actually HIRES people who do good enough fanworks. And Sega even starts SELLING THEM if they can get a contract up and running, making everyone happy. . .

I don't really appreciate Nintendo after the Gamecube. It feels like they're will to do whatever to make a buck then. . .

Looks great.

The only thing that currently slows my hype train is Nintendo's copyright infrigement.

Especially considering that they recently done a Zelda OOT game on 3DS. I'm quite skeptical about this whole thing.

If this game happens, it'd better have gamepad support otherwise It'd be a crime.

Especially considering there's a retrolink N64 controller out there that would work great with this.

Sword legion : At least Sega does the right thing. I can understand to some extent why Nintendo has done it. But come on....like they rip off a lot of good games instead of trying to at least help, and benefit from it. Heck, it would double the amount of money they have if they were to allow it. But, you know its life so meh. Its something people have to deal with sadly.

Sword legion : As long as if had a choice to take off the graphical textures like can in minecraft or something, then would be interested. Since I don't mind games being able to boost quality like this and again it is a VERY good mod/remake there's NO doubt about that. It's juust I feel personally not for me. Like how Skyward Sword wasn't for me cause of controls.

If anything would love to see Ura Zelda/original sequel to OOT remade by someone and actual finished. There's been several attempts but many have given up or were shut down.

Because Sega really just has their mascot to work with these days.  So anything that will get Sonic fans some hub up, will do Sega some good.

Sega takes chances with fans and supports them through out.
Nintendo on the other hand, Has become extremely corporate and won't allow for this kind of stuff.

Nintendo is one of those ignorant and corporate companies that believes that nobody will out do them, because in their mind;someone remaking their classic games makes them look bad(I know it doesn't, but it's Nintendo we're talking about here)

If Nintendo were smart, I'd embrace this remake it'd be perfect to go on their new console.

But no, Nintendo are still the same greedy idiots that'll take old stuff and repackage it as new for a quick dollar.

This is why Nintendo has such a bad reputation these days.

CrimsonCrash 64 : Thanks for posting to my reply. And yeah that's what I exactly think of the situation to do with Nintendo. I'm not surprised that's why they have a bad rep. More reason why I don't buy any new modern consoles of theirs. Because its downright discouraging too. well, yeah, but also for the fact that they take down a lot of games. So you feel you don't really want to buy their product's anymore. '-'

This is awesome. I wonder if this will get released as a fan made game or not (Unless it already is available for download)

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
