We're all going to die at some point. Most of us hope that the day doesn't come by for a long time. When the day does come, what do you to happen to your body? Would you like to be buried? Would you want to be cremated? Would you like your body to be dumped into the ocean? Anything else? I'm sure religious reasons have a lot to do with what will happen to your body. What do you want for your dead body?

Personally, I'd want to be buried. The thought of my body being burned kind of irks me, even though I'll be dead by then and won't feel a thing, it just doesn't feel right to me.

My mom wants cremated, and I'm with her on that. The way I see it, it's better for the environment, less wasteful, and less expensive. But before that, I'd like my organs donated to good causes.

EDIT: Religious reasons did influence this decision. As a Mormon, we believe that we'll get a resurrected, perfect body. Because of that, I really don't see it as a biggie if I let people use my dead body for what I believe are good causes.

This thread seems interesting specially since last night I dreamed that someone familiar was trying to kill me. Well I really don't care. I guess donate any organs and cremate me since that is cheaper and wouldn't want my family burden with coming to see me or take care of my block in the cemetery. I guess that in a way it helps people let go - you know the idea that there isn't a physical place for them to visit me or such. They can do whatever they want with my ashes. I know for my brother in law, he was cremated and his ashes thrown in the ocean in Puerto Rico. I don't think that whatever happens to my body matters anymore once I am dead- this is a topic I hate thinking about- I don't seem at peace with the idea of death- it makes me very anxious and sad.

Wow that is a very good question that I actually have strong personal feelings towards. I know there is very varied opinions on this subject based on upbringing, culture and thought, but I would like to be buried without coffin. I feel I owe my body and flesh to the earth, as before man brought his own conceptions to it, the body would return to the soil in the natural world. I feel that in life, I breathe the air from the trees, and consume the beasts of the land, so to me it's only fair to return everything I can.
I find the idea of donating organs a very noble deed, but when I shed personal feelings I know man must die in order to preserve the all life. To me, death is the ultimate goal (not as in I strive for it, cause personally I feel most likely just like you) of life, and the ultimate point. Again, I'm trying to express this in a stigma-less manner, but I know given the subject it's difficult.

Although I added myself as a donor on my driver's license, I'd like to be cryonically frozen and thawed out once we have the technology (even though it is impossible as it currently stands.

Also just for the facts, cryonically frozen is the correct term. Cryogenics is the study of freezing organisms alive.

I think the idea of being cryogenically frozen for a period of time until technology has become more advanced in the world. Being frozen like that would require a ridiculous amount of cryoprotectants for just one person, so it is impractical. Out of the remaining options, I'd more than likely just have myself buried. As with Razor I'd probably just allow my organs to be donated to those in need and then just let myself be buried. I never fascinated the idea of being burned and being frozen for a long period of time honestly sounds like a hassle ;p.

It's funny you should ask this. I was going to throw the same question out to the community and I was trying to think of a way to do so without sounding morbid.

You beat me to the punch. Good effort.

I told my wife I want to be cremated and have her, or any surviving family member, take my ashes or remains to South Africa. Then I want them to dump the remains in the ocean off the coast where the great white sharks hang out.

I'm a big fan of the idea behind karma and reincarnation so the idea is that I get eaten by an organism that eventually gets eaten by one of those sharks.

Now I'm a part of that shark, which is the ultimate in evolution, except for cockroaches. I swim and eat everything. Nothing eats me. Humans study me and I even have my own week on television.

That is what I serious want done with my body at the end of all of this. I don't care what others want. I'm dead.

If they put up a serious fight, I'll donate myself to science so someone can use the organs but I expect to die past 90 years of age so everything is failing anyway.

I've got it set up where I'm gonna have my own family tomb. Kind of like a personal crypt for the family and the generations after. It'll lead downwards and run under my property and look ancient be in reality it'll be very up to date so that it can last many years. I like the idea of leaving behind evidence that my family existed and that there is somewhere my decedents can got to see their ancestors all in one place. Oh, also donate some organs to those in need or for science.

Personally,I would not care,I am dead. Take my body and toss it in the ocean for all I care. Although if I had to pick a method,bury me with a sword and gun. I may need them when I go to hell.

While I`m really don`t care what`ll happen with my dead body, I stick with cremation. Don`t want my relatives went to my grave once per time... basically for nothing. I, myself, hate those every year voyages to the other end of the city to some big stone, standing amongst other big stones for... I even don`t know why I`m going there I mean I remember my ancestors without those trips. And as for whom I don`t remember - what`s the point going to their graves? I`m still doesn`t know who they are, so my preference - cremation.
