The tomato. Originally a fruit cultivated by the aztecs it was shunned by the other fruits for not being fruit like enough. Throughout the ages it has received much hate from people, many hating the taste. For you see never truly having been accepted, life has not been easy for the tomato. In stead of being consumed by self pity it tried to think of solutions. It thought to itself "if people will not accept me as a fruit I must becomes a vegetable" and so this became its dream.

Now it has tried to be vegetable and that worked for a while... For just a moment the tomato experienced some stability in its life. Things looked like they might work out...

The truth cannot be hidden though, for no matter how much it tried to improve some people never forget. When the age of information arrived, its past started haunting it again. Now its fruity origins is there on the internet for everyone to see. Some would argue it deserves far worse for hiding this from the public. But is simply wanting some peace and calm in its life really such a crime?

Daily verbal attacks is now a common affair for the tomato and it's quite the predicament. People have been commonly cited as saying it's a freak of nature that should have never existed. "It is not suited to be a fruit" they say and "it can never be a true vegetable".

But where other fruits and vegetables would give up, the tomato stays strong never looking back. It has the fighting spirit other plants lack. A true underdog getting through all hardships working its way up from nothing. So you see while others may hate it, because of this it is to me, truly both the ultimate fruit and the ultimate vegetable for it has endured more than any other. This is why I'm telling you all this, because I feel that once, just this once, it deserves some of the recognition it's been fighting so hard for. Which is why I say...

All hail the tomato!
