Hi guys, I wasn't really quite sure if I should make this thread. Because the question seems tricky. But I thought to give it a go and see what people would say to this. Basically as you saw the question. Do you like your countries food? Like I'll try and explain what I mean by that question. I was born in England but I originated from a county called Nigeria. I couldn't be born there for reasons. Because they wouldn't had the facilities that would be need to sustain my health so I would had died there. So my parents moved to England of that reason for better health care and that was the NHS. Even though born in England I am still Nigerian and born one. I love my countries food and the type of things that are made there. Our food is one of the healthiest yet delicious still to eat depending on what people like. For me would be fried rice. egusi soup, ewa < that for a much simpler way called beans. efo < this is spinach soup with a whole lot of mackerel fish in it. moi moi < this is another food made out of beans but in a much special way. I really love the food and all and am happy to be a Nigerian mostly for the food though. Anyways that's mine I hope that I have explained it. And if you want to see the pictures of these food. Feel free to ask and I'll post it up. |

Of course I like my country's food! It's the United States, and that meants that we corrupt all forms of food from every country imaginable and create things like Gionino's, Papa John's, Pizza Hut, Chipotle, Taco Bell, and Asian buffets! Oh, and popcorn. That is actually an American thing, and I'm fairly certain that everyone loves popcorn, especially with a full truckload of salt poured onto it, because salt is obviously the best condiment, right? (the answer is yes, of course it is) Also, a thing that's unique to America is putting ice in our drinks. Europeans find it unhealthy and unnatural to have a quote on quote 'obsession' with our drinks being cold, and not gonna lie, I really do like my drinks cold. So that one goes to America as well. Well, in America, I've been told we're well known for our steaks. It wouldn't surprise me if that is the case down South. America is really a cultural and economic melting pot. Sometimes I swear the only things we have for actual heritage either comes from older British culture of the colonization period. That and farm life. . . Boarders touching two of the oceans and an imperial navy.
Eh, yeah. . . I suppose we have something. Our culture is not near as old as other's though. When it comes to food, it's easy to see how Native American indian dishes have affected us. Corn based foods, pumpkin pies and turkey. Thanksgiving really brings out the oldest of dishes. When it comes to modern times though, I really like a well fashioned American burger. Cheese. . . good fries. Ketchup, onions and tomatoes. I know, it's nothing really original, but a burger and fries is incredibly American. And I like it. Probably more than the older stuff. I enjoy eating American food overall. . . but Chinese and Mexican food really does seem to taste better at times. Maybe that's because I mostly get it from restaurants- they make everything taste better. I often like those meals more than high quality burgers. So maybe American based food isn't that highly rated. Ah well. Eh, yeah. . . I suppose we have something. Our culture is not near as old as other's though. I do have a large appreciation for hamburgers, especially with bacon on it. But like others have said in the U.S. we really don't have too many dishes of our own, the ones we do have I do like but not nearly as much other foods. I am Syrian by blood, never been and with it's current state never will ;p My grandmother never cooked any of their food for us that I can remember and my dad's few attempts at cooking anything at all when he was around consisted of burnt, incompatible food. I have heard good things about it though, so I would try some if I could. The U.S.'s versions of other countries food is widely known to be Americanized otherwise they probably wouldn't have gained the popularity they have, I recently watched a documentary in Netflix explaining the Americanization of Chinese food. And that's really plain to see if you ever order take out or go to a buffet. Of course I do. Spain is a big referent when it comes to gastronomy, after all. There are so many unique specialties in each region over here: boiled octopus from the northwest, Gazpacho from the scorching south, Paella in the east, tomato-slathered bread in the northeast, which happens to be my region... And I'm just naming the few I have tried regularly, because there are many more I've never got the chance to try, just knowing them by name or heard from people they've tried them. This is why local tourism is so important in Spain: there are many things to visit and discover, but even more to taste. And since preparing most of these specialties requires little effort after buying the correct ingredients, you can perfectly well adapt them into your diet. I was born and raised in Lebanon, so that makes me Lebanese, but do I like my country's food though?... No . Okay, I'm pretty meh with it. I eat very few Lebanese dishes, and most of the dishes I have is Italian :3. You see, I'm extremely picky when it comes to food (a bit too picky). According to my aunt, I'm in angel in everything, but when it comes to food, I'm the devil |

Titan127 : I'm not going to lie I do love most of the usa food. But sadly I won't be always to cook what I want for a specific meal because most of the ingredients are way beyond my reach. But one day if I do mange to visit I'm going to try most things. And anything that I can when I stay for however long period of time. I've always wanted to try American food. Sword legion : Yeah I guess....steaks are not really my thing I tried it and well....it didn't taste nice. I might try again but that depends. I do wanna try out pumpkin pies and turkey...they sound delicious... @.@ zanderlex : I don't really blame you doe that. You have your reasons as of why. And that I can understand. ^-^ Cap'n : Oh yeah speaking of hamburgers my family are having a BBQ next week so I can't wait! Thanks for mentioning that. I think I have also come to understand the nature of Americans and some of their food as well. EX Palen : Ooh I don't think I have any Spanish food before that I need to try. I might look into it on Google for recipes and stuff...or better yet you can list down some good dishes for me. greenluigi : Oh....I think you told me about that a coupe of times....but I have forgotten. I don't think I have read up on Lebanese dishes...so I'm also going to have to look that up on Google. The dutch cuisine is very meh. I mean i really like some things but for the most part i don't. Everything is too similar, potatoes, vegetables and meat done in a specific dutch way But since i'm not only Dutch, i'm one of the unique people on here that can talk about 2 cuisines! I am also Egyptian and i much prefer Egyptian food over dutch food. Koshari, Macaronie Béchamel, and a lot more things that i love. Well my country is the USA, and yeah I love American food XD All the traditional American foods like hamburgers, hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, steak, chicken...I'll eat any of that stuff if I'm hungry enough, and whether its healthy or not lol But ever since I've been married ( just over 5 years now ) my wife has been really good about cooking some healthy, delicious meals. I remember, Enii, that I posted in your vegetable thread...I still love to eat my veggies too. Bacon deserves a mention for American food, too. It might not be good for you, but its fun to eat! And I saw you mention your country's fried rice...if its anything like the Chinese fried rice, I'm sure I would love to eat that if I ever had the chance. Honestly, Nigerian fried rice sounds good. I haven't really had that much African food in my lifetime though. I like Canadian cuisine like poutine. Being in this country, we have the opportunity to try foods from all over the world, which is absolutely delightful. |

Ultrajeff : I've never had that type of cuisine before. I would actually like to try and if I can have some of, that food taste one day. I like to eat a lot of food and to explore. But, at other times I have to be very careful because not every food my stomach will allow me to eat. So with me its a give and take kind of thing. But, I am always winning to try something new to eat. |

Yes I do, I absolutely love my country's food. American food is amazing. Whether you're eating burgers, Brats, bacon, steak, or seafood, you're in for some of the best tasting food out there. I wouldn't trade American food for any other food in the world. |

I love food from the United States! Though, sometimes I think there is a misconception that the only "American" food is fast food... What I love about it is that, as other users have said, American food is really a conglomerate of food from other countries that we've taken and made our own. Every country does it, to an extent- for example, the USA's "Chinese food" isn't really Chinese, but neither is Japan's "Chinese food"- both countries have put their own spin on it. Of course, there is some "traditional American" food, like barbeque and whatnot. Very delicious. I am also Romanian, and I generally like Romanian food (for example, soups- we have so many soups in our cuisine, and I am extremely fond of them). Sărmăluţe (Romanian-style cabbage rolls with meat and herbs) are the best, of course! My mom also sometimes makes other traditional dishes like tocăniţă (this one is hard to explain... it's meat bathed and soaked in a type of sauce, but I'm not quite sure what it is made out of and what to call it in English). I can't stand Romanian lard, though, and vinete (Romanian eggplant guts, usually cooked and then mashed up, spread on bread or meat- it smells bad and tastes even worse). In fact, I hate vinete so much that when I first went to Japan, I tried to avoid eating fried eggplants, and when I did try it... I didn't particularly like it. Also, shout-out to Japanese food. It's not my country, but with the exception of incorporating eggplants, natto, and miso into their diet, it's pretty delicious. I'd love to try Nigerian fried rice sometime. I've had American, Romanian, and Japanese fried rice and loved all of it, so at this point, I'm sure I will enjoy that as well. gamerforlifeforever : YEAH TRUE THAT! *Clears throat* I mean yes I can very much agree with you on that, its the one thing I adore about America. Their food. I hope when going on a holiday one day, that I can get to taste it and to eat as much as I can. Because I will end up ding that. XD Dragonlord Stephi : I can agree to that to do with America its one of the reasons I want to go there. Besides trying to look for my friends who are on vizzed. And you are Romanian?! I never knew that....I wonder what your culture of, that food tastes like. Oh a lot of soups in your cuisine you say? That's nice, I could try if I can to learn how to do that. The cuisine sure does sound weird by the way you are stating it. Another to do with Japanese food is what I am gradually learning how to cook. But getting their ingredients is not that easy. So I have to work with what I have in the house. And as for my Nigerian food if one day I meet you buy chance. I wouldn't mind making it for you. For the most part, I really enjoy American food. I'm not even sure what's considered American food outside of things like hamburgers, since we're pretty much a melting pot of all the worlds cultures mixed together. As for hamburgers, I love them to death. There's nothing quite like a burger you grilled yourself (or by a better cook in the family) that's smothered in ketchup and a few other toppings. I really enjoy hot dogs as well, pretty much made the exact same way with the exact same toppings on it lol. Steak is the bomb, and I love pretty much every kind there is. Fillet Mignon (I think that's how it's spelled?) is the best though, as well as a good T-Bone lol. Bacon is where it's at, though I'm not entirely sure that it's considered "American food." I love me some BBQ, especially some Ribs. Oh my god I could eat nothing but ribs till the day I die and still be a very happy man I can't really think of anything else off the top of my head.
