This has to be one of the most jaw-dropping news stories I've heard in awhile. An 11 year old boy in Minnesota stole a cement truck and led police on a high speed chase, reaching 70mph! Eventually, he reached a dead end, and was arrested. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/11-year-old-minnesota-boy-leads-police-chase-in-stolen-cement-truck/

What I want to know is, HOW WAS AN 11 YEAR OLD ABLE TO DRIVE A CEMENT TRUCK IN THE FIRST PLACE!? Where was the driver at and how did the boy have the keys to the cement truck? It's absolutely mind boggling to me... What do you guys think about this crazy story?

Holy.... just wow. That chase went on for over an hour. How the heck did an 11-year-old kid manage to elude police for over an hour? It's hard to imagine him even reaching the pedals!

I for one blame the video game industry.  Without games that teach children how to operate construction equipment this never would have happened.  All kidding aside where were his parents in all of this?  I'm sure this will result in a lawsuit being filed for negligence on the company that left the equipment and keys attainable by a child.  On another note the kid will probably get counseling, but nothing on his record and he will have a super B.A. story to tell the ladies when he is older.

yoshirulez! : I don't think that commenter knows the difference between concrete and cement either with that comparison...

Anyway, I am sure they just leave the keys in those trucks from how easily they seem to be stolen...

OK, all I did was see this on Friends Actions and I knew that I had to click it. That's insane and there's so many questions to be answered. heck, I'm pretty sure not all adult drivers would be able to drive anything, let alone a truck at 70 MPH without crashing unless on a highway.

Forget where was the driver, where was everybody else? Is the place that barren that he didn't crash or had to stop before? AND WHY??? He's only 11 years old, what motives did he have?

That's nothing. My son stole a Matchbox cement truck when he was eight and took it for a drive around our LEGO City playset. I couldn't stop him for hours! He finally returned the car after the neighbor he stole the car from broke into our house and engaged in a high-speed chase around our living room. They're now best friends.

...True story.

This kid is an utter stud. Like, dude, that's a horrible idea, but for pulling it off, honestly...I, and all of us, have got to give him some credit, at the very least.

JustAPizza : Well, here's the thing. The police can't like, hop out of their patrol cars and onto the truck. Their main weapon in a chase is knocking out the unweighted back end of a car, and a concrete truck makes this irrelevant, since both ends are weighted.

ghostrunner : I was going to post a counter about this but, in this case, yes, the gaming industry is somewhat at fault. Let's be honest here, where else is an eleven year old kid going to get that idea. But on the other hand, they don't take much of the blame here. The kid's parents, or whoever was supervising him at the time, are responsible for him. The fact that this happened is more an example of horrible parenting than anything else, and the contractor shares some too, for leaving the truck so easily accessible

I checked Snopes, didn't find anything.... This sounds just slightly ridiculous, but it looks legit. I always said it was a very poor decision to underestimate kids. They're a whole lot smarter than people give them credit for.

m0ssb3rg935 : Well I, for one, was pretty stupid as a kid, but you've got a point there. I mean, kid's next door might be an actual thing, lol. You're riight though, they are pretty smart, and very creative, like I said, better parenting should be implemented there, it's sad that it even happened.

What was this kid thinking, stealing a cement mixer? I hope his family is charged and his dumb butt is thrown in JV hall until he is 18. Now some blame the gaming industry, and they might share in a little blame, along with TV and film industries. But seriously,I do not know who the stupid ones are here. The kid,his parents,or the driver of that truck that obviously left the door unlocked and the keys inside. There is more than enough blame to go around here. Him for being so stupid. His parents for not disciplining the brat. And the driver for not securing the vehicle. I would hope that if that family has any other kids, they would be taken and made wards of the state and they should be sterilized so they cannot reproduce.

Oldschool777 : While I see an alarmingly ever increasing quantity of the scenario you've described, and it's highly likely that was the case, there's also a lot being assumed. Even well disciplined, well behaved, orderly kids have they're playful moments, even if this is ridiculous. I think the fact that, given the truck was most likely a stick, he was able to sustain an hour long, high speed pursuit and only at the age of 11 years, shows a streak of genius, albeit applied incorrectly. I would venture to guess that a lot of CDL holders can't drive that well. The boy may want to consider a career as a professional race car driver.

But a well mannered and disciplined kid would also be far less likely to jack a cement truck and joyride. Most 11 year old kids would have enough of a brain to tell that is a bad idea. Now I have no idea how the kid was driving the truck,so I cannot comment on the pursuit. I am thinking the cops hoped he would stop and tried to stay back a bit (the PIT maneuver will not work). It depends on the driver I guess. I would think this boy is going to have some restrictions on him when he gets out.

Personally I don't think it's a big deal. Let's look at me when I was 11 years old; I was smoking weed and cigarettes (I was also able to drive a car at that age).

I no longer smoke weed and I'm a grown-up now.

Woah, a lot of negligence on the driver's part. It is a big deal since it was a high speed chase that could have harm the child and anyone else. I don't want to play the card of "where are the parents" but, for that 11 year old to take a truck knowing it isn't his and that's illegal to then running from cops, I mean a lack of discipline and regards for the law is obvious. Thankfully it wasn't worst.

If this seriously happened then the main things on my mind are:

1: Where was the parent? And Why wasn't he/she keeping a better eye in the kid in the first place?

2: Why had the guy that operated the truck leave the keys in the truck?

And 3:If the kid plays games, This is exactly why GTA is rated "M for Mature".

Oldschool777 : Now, if the circumstances are what you (and myself) have said, I completely agree with your post, but also consider these things: He might've been under someone else's supervision at the time. There are alot of factors in play here, that's the thing. Taking a child is certainly a drastic measure, but some people certainly aren't cut out to be parenting the next generation.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
