So I may have a problem. A trophy hunting problem.

Somebody tell me it's okay that I've literally been refusing to sleep for two hours already tonight because I'm trying to get a Platinum trophy.

Wait no...don't tell me that. You'll only be enabling me. I don't need enabling, what I need is help.

I would say more than this, but the music playing from this game's pause menu is mocking me. It beckons to me "Eirinn, hunt moar trophies". I can smell the platinum from here...and it smells surprisingly metallic. Now I only need to play five more hours roughly, or at least, by my estimate. If I don't sleep at all tonight I can pull it off by sunrise!

Hello most people call me Zlinqx and I'm here at Trophy Addicts Anonymous as I've been struggling with a growing trophy addiction. I replayed a game 4 times just to get a platinum trophy when in reality I never wanted to play the game. I no longer enjoy games, I play games for trophies and trophies alone. Without it I won't play a game, infact I'll give it a 1 on metacritic. They are what sustain me, what give my life purpose they fill the emptiness in my soul. Without trophies everything would be meaningless. I would cease to exist.

My PS4 and Dualshock 4 controller are calling for me. They're blinking at me, mocking me because I haven't passed 25% completion in GTA 5. Telling me to play the online mode BUT I DON¨T WANT TO PLAY THE ONLINE MODE ANYMORE, IT'S JUST GRINDING. It's gotten to a point where I don't eat or sleep anymore and live on a diet consisting purely of mountain dew. Anything else takes up too much time that could be used for getting trophies.

Please, send help, I'm stuck trying to get a hidden trophy in nightmare mode and the gamefaqs guide wont load. I really need this platinum or my life will be over.

I am so sorry you guys. But I found myself getting another three trophies this week. I never meant for it to end up like this. I have been doing time attack and score competitions and I just keep winning. I hate this. But I think together we can work through this.

It's okay dude, we're here for you. This is what we call an intervention. Now hand over the controller. Also your PS4, and maybe your house. Good, see that wasn't so bad, now you can't play anymore.

I haven't gotten a trophy in like uh 2 weeks? Unless I forgot one.

Guys...I'm addicted to Nintendew.  I've been drinking Nintendew so much lately that I've started talking in high pitched voices saying "It's-a-me!  Mario!", even though I have no idea who that is and my name isn't Mario.  It's Luigi.  Although my last name is Mario.  Strange, huh?

Guys... I'm addicted to amiibo's. But only Ganondorf cause that's all my local Gamestop ever has. I like the way they learn to fight, and how I can train one to do nothing but dance. But most of all I love the smell...

I love achievements. I dun have a PS4 or PS anything so I can't get trophys, but achievements are good nuff right? Not only trophys, but random Steam stuff as well. I spent like a total of 10sh dollars getting all the cards for DLC Quest and leveling up my badge to the max and even getting the foil badge and I just got all emocons and backgrounds like yesterday and the coupons I got I used all but two of them. I could have gotten Undertale instead but NOPE CARDS AND BADGES OFC. But that's not all. I have this urge to like review it and make a guide for it (hint hint). At least I only do that to games I've 100%ed. Too bad I want to 100% every game :'(. At least that takes me forever I guess xp.

I absolutely despise trophies in games. Take whatever name they are called depending on the game but they are so stupid.

You get a trophy for killing 10,000 enemies. Uh, I thought I got to win the game because I killed all the enemies. I don't need a trophy for that.


I'm fine with some sort of recognition for doing a difficult side quest that isn't required to complete the game but trophies for trivial things bugs the crap out of me. It doesn't make the game better but it does sucker people like Eirinn into playing the game longer in order to feel like he "really" beat the game

Eirinn : There is no such thing as a trophy hunting "problem." The reason you get games for the PS4 is to try to get the platinum trophy, right? I mean, that's the reason that I'm constantly purchasing new games anyway. It just looks so good on your profile if you've completed a game 100%, PLUS you got the platinum trophy. I feel a great deal of satisfaction after every time that I do.

I like the trophy system. In my opinion, its not enough for you to just say "Whew! I finally beat this game!" without having anything to show for it. Don't listen to anyone else that tells you otherwise, Eirinn. The only reason we play games anymore is to get trophies/achievements. Why else would you play games? XD If you see me online the same time as you, feel free to shoot me a message if you need any support or help.

But the bottom line is, you do NOT have a problem. How dare you even mention it! XD

As a matter of fact...

I think we all have a bit of trophy addict in us. Like the time I played Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for at least 10 hours, if not more, playing the same games that I could just emulate. Just for a Platinum trophy. It felt good, and it tasted like victory when I finally achieved it.

Whenever there's achievements, I feel compelled to achieve them, if I can. Does that make me an achievement addict?

I played Saints Row 4 two days straight and need a couple trophies for the platinum but the remaining challenges are painful. Dont ya hate trying to platinum  game and there is one trophy you just cant complete. 

So yeah, I have been trying to get 100 percent on fifa for so long, but I am bad at the game so I'll never get it.

but I refuse to accept that, so I keep wasting my time.

I feel your pain to a lesser extent. Sadly I've never actually been awarded a Platinum, though I came extremely close to it in quite a few games. The main one that comes to mind is Final Fantasy 13. I have 3 play throughs totaling over 750 hours from trying to obtain every trophy possible, and on the last one through, literally missed ONE ITEM that prevented me from getting the Item Hunter trophy, as well as the Platinum. I pretty much rage quit at that point, at least as far as trophy hunting went. I haven't pursued anything as fiercely since either, since many games have either outlandish requests for some of the trophies, or require you to complete a bunch of milestones in online play, of which the multi-player aspect I have zero interest in for that particular game.
