(I considered putting this in the other forum, but I figure this is more about me than anything)

Finally, after a long five year layoff, I'm going back to college for the Spring Semester in 2016.

It's only a community college, but with the financials of it, in addition to the academic plan we have planned in collaboration, it will be possible for me to transfer into a four year institution after I earn my Associate's Degree, to focus on my major.

For now, I'll just be taking brush up courses, since I haven't taken a class in over five years, as I'm roughly transfer level in English and Math. I took my matriculation test, and already have the Spring Semester planned out.

In addition to a relatively basic English and Math course, I'll also be taking Philosophy.

This also means a lot less time for you guys on Vizzed, since I'll be working 25+ hours in a week, going to school, and then taking up my own recreational activities, like gaming, sports, and general travel. But I don't think that any of you will particularly mind. This is a huge step in my life, not unlike my move to California. So I know who is behind me, because they are the same people who supported my move.

Let's do this!

Congrats, I'm proud of you. I always felt like Vizzed was in some way responsible for you dropping out the first time and I always felt pretty guilty about that.

If they offer cross country then I hope you consider taking it. I remember you talking about having a good cross country career and a desire to run so I hope you can get back into shape and consider doing it again.

Nice dude, I remember hearing all your wonderful stories of not going to college and all the pains. Cool to see you moving up to do your own things.

Are you only taking those three classes or are there others that are hidden? Have any idea what major you will do eventually?

Davideo7 :

Vizzed wasn't responsible.

It may have been my choice of drug so to speak, but it isn't the drug's fault for existing. It's the user's fault for not recognizing the risks of addiction and not knowing when the stop.

It was nobody's fault but my own. If any blame is to be assigned, it is my own for not recognizing my own failings, and letting other things consume my life.

If it wasn't Vizzed, it would have been video games.

I was not a mature adult, ready to contribute to society or provide for myself at the age of 18. At age 23, I feel more prepared to succeed in the areas in which I would need to, and have built a solid support system around me to help, should things get too difficult.

I don't know if I'll be doing cross country. I have so much on my plate as it is right now. Between work, school, and my other hobbies, I just have little free time to work out. Part of why I failed in college my first time was that I was trying to do 72 hours worth of things in just 24 hours, and was stretching myself too thin.

I might consider it for the 2017 Fall Semester, a year and a half from now, but I just cannot see myself going down that route unless I find myself with too much free time. I like running, but I also like all the other things I'm doing, so it's a tough compromise.

zanderlex :

For now, it's just three courses, I might take more down the line, but when it comes to this first semester, I'm just going to take three.

At the moment, I'm not an official California resident, so I'm paying the out-of-state fees on my courses, which makes it about 8 times as expensive (but still only about 1/20th as expensive as my original college). I needed to take 3 to qualify as a full time student, which was very important.

Once I become a resident here officially, I'll probably be more open to taking more courses.

As for my eventual major, I want to major in Sports Medicine, with a focus on Physical Therapy and possibly a minor in Psychology.

I don't want to dream too big, but if I'm being honest, my ultimate goal is to get my Doctorate as well, down the line.

Cool, how many credits is that? I assume you're considered part time for that?

It's a total of like 12 credits, which is considered full-time at this college.

That's cool, do you know what your schedule will be like or will you get that later?

Over here, most courses are 3 credits and are either 3 or 4 total hours a week depending on the class.

zanderlex :

Basically, I go to the college on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I have math in the mornings on all three days, then English a bit after lunch on Monday and Wednesday, and then my Philosophy course around 3 or 4 PM, on the same days as English? Each class is roughly 1.5-2 hours or so long.

I have every other day off. Basically I am dedicated to school exactly two days of the week, and I have a class on a third, but it doesn't tie up my schedule too much to work or have hobbies.

Good luck Leggy! I think you'll do astounding in those classes. And once you've graduated...You can be here as long as you want! Well, assuming you have the day off or something. The schedule you've got seems pretty solid to me. Enjoy college dude!

I'm afraid a bit to post here so....anyways the great legacyme3 is now going back to collage. I wish you good luck with what you'll do in life and I am sure you will do nothing, but the best. Because you are one. Even though you'll start to get inactive here. Your legacy won't die down on vizzed I promise you that. I hope to see you again in the near future.

I feel weird about this but I was super proud when I read this. I felt similarly as David did that Vizzed*geeogree was somehow responsible for you dropping out. Obviously it's your responsibility to go or not go and to do homework or not do homework etc but it felt like Vizzed contributed in some way and I always felt a little bad about that.

I'm glad you're going back though. I believe post secondary education (in any form) is a great benefit that should be taken advantage of.

I'm sad that you won't have time for Vizzed but I also understand that college is so much more important than anything we have going on here. Just don't forget about us while you're there . I was pretty inactive while I was in school so I expect you will be too.

Still, so happy you are doing this. You've been one of my closest friends on Vizzed and to see you making a good choice like this makes me happy for you.

We haven't had anytime to get acquainted but I wish you well all the same! I am actually a college drop out myself. I went for 4 1/2 years and only had 1 more semester to go before my money ran out. I've been toying the idea about going back since I have all these good friends graduating and folks like you going back! However, I agreed to get my wife through first so you'd probably be graduating by the time I finally finish that last semester lol.

Anyway, just take care of yourself and watch your health. Might not seem like it but letting loose a little (especially during stressful periods) can and will hurt you in the future!

Keeping that in mind, study well and hard but know your limits. If you feel too tired to learn then your not learning. Also don't let things like tests and homework stress you out. It might be nerve wracking when you got to get something done but stressing will just hurt your productivity. Remember, you already worked hard on it, so once it comes time to prove it --all you can really do is prove it!

I'm pretty sure the rest of us would like to know how your doing while you undertake this huge step!  If you can spare a few minutes, let us know how things are going!

Best of Luck to You,

WandererExiled

I wish you lots of luck.
What major do you have in mind?

[edit] I didn't read all of your posts so I missed you answer. I should go back and read some of the other posts because other people asked and Leggy answered.

Also, I'm such a n00b. [/edit]

Thanks for the well wishes everyone.

I'm in a bit of a rush right now (My life has gotten so ridiculously busy in the past two months!), so I can't respond to everyone individually, but I saw all your posts and I appreciate the support!

geeogree :

Yeah, I hear you, I can get why some people would feel responsible, but ultimately, it's on me. I'm glad I have people around who care enough to feel like you do, however.

I won't be forgetting about the place, and I'll likely drop in from time to time (usually just to check PMs and answer notifications, I definitely won't have time to peruse the forums, including my own, at least right off. That's why I'd like to figure out a plan with IT asap, since I am only going to get more busy, not less.

But 99% of the time, anyone who wants to contact me will have to do it through Steam. It's the only service I'm 100% guaranteed to be on if I'm online (most of the time, I won't be), and it's also the place where most of my closer friends are.

Vanelan :

I appreciate it. I know we've butted heads in the past, but I do respect you.

And yes, I put it a bit earlier in the thread, but I get not reading every post, as a global, sometimes you don't have that luxury. If I have any parting wisdom for the job, it's to not let the inanity of the job get to you. It can be a very stressful job if you take it too seriously, but it can also be a tough job if you don't take it seriously enough.

Keep a level head (which you normally do) and focus on just one thing at a time. You have good globals around you who can keep a lot of the load off. And there's also geeo, so there.

-----

I have to get going now, but I'll see you all soon, I hope!

legacyme3 : I see it now...I was reading on mobile and its hard to get through a large block of text and not miss something.

geeogree : Thanks for the edit. The last part perfectly represents how I felt when I went back and re-read that post. xD

It's all good

I had actually taken the time to read everything Leggy said so I didn't miss anything when I replied. I don't do that with everyone's threads though.

I know if I had done the same thing Leggy likely would have given me an equally hard time about it

geeogree : Too bad it didn't happen. I am sure it would have been entertaining.
I think I might have to add that "Also, I'm such a n00b. " to my signature.

Might as well ask, with you being dead and all what's going to happen with the ESPN league?

zanderlex :

It'll continue to exist. It takes legit no time for me to run a team in the league, and the league basically runs itself at this point.

I don't see why anything about it would need to change.
