I recently joined Reddit to see the posts on there when im very bored but it seems many posts are raided by trolls who try to be funny and crave the attention mommy and daddy doesnt give them at home. Some trolls are funny but come on most of em are not clever and just plain annoying but, it also seems the people on Reddit are a-holes just for the sake of being one. I dont know i must be rambling but it was on my mind and it seems that i see this crap all over reddit and it baffles me how people enjoy this site.

TristanTehGamer1 : Reddit is full of baloney, that's for sure.  As a frequent user of it, I've come to realize it's a gem covered by a lot of crap.  You have to wipe away the crap to see the gem inside.  I like the good it brings, but I've also seen bad enter my life because of my use of it.  I have learned things that at times I wish I could unlearn.  I have seen things that shouldn't be shown.  But I've also gained a lot of experience, and that I don't regret.  I recommend you limit the subreddits you're subscribed to to things that are uplifting or useful.  I wasted a lot of time on /r/gaming in my earlier days, and made some comments I wish I could take back.  Reddit can cause cancer, but there is good in it, I promise.  Be careful.

Edit: We'd love to see you on /r/ExplainLikeImCalvin.  It's a subreddit for those who wish to explain things and have things explained like Calvin's Dad.  It's among the best of Reddit.

TristanTehGamer1 : Well, it's inevitable that a site like Reddit will have people who don't have the greatest attitudes. With a site that large, you can't find every single person who deserves punishment. The admins and moderators are human, and they make mistakes.

I'm not even an active Reddit user, but they have so many communities for literally almost anything you can think of. If you have a hobby, there's a subreddit for it, and most of the people that I've seen personally aren't trolls or a-holes like you described.

Maybe it's just the more popular Reddit communities that have trouble with these people, but I don't see them very often, and when they do show themselves, they'll be assaulted with downvotes and negative comments. Maybe I'll see where you're coming from if I use Reddit a bit more often, but I really don't agree.

No, Gaia Online is cancer. Reddit is luxurious compared to that.

Reddit is a lot of garbage. But in there shines a few gems. Try to stay away from the top rated subs because that is where the community is at it's worst. Just stick to subreddits that you like. There's a lot of good, and a lot of bad. Just like any other site out there. But just be thankful you are in fact not on 9gag or Roblox forums. Now that is a heaping pile...

Reddit is like just about any other place on the internet. It has good and it has REALLY bad. Just need to be careful what you waste your time with there just like any other site.

I personally avoid reddit because I think it is a pretty big waste of time overall and only go there if I get linked to something specific.

Wow good thing I never went there in the first place. It may seem to be a website that would only break people. Even if there is some good in it. I would rather stay away from the site. Not even to take a peak at it some websites are out there to damage you personal wise. That's why not a lot get trusted these days because of that. @.@

There are a metric ton of arsehats on Reddit, but some subs do a rather good job of filtering them out (especially the smaller ones since they don't have a million+ posts in a month to sort through).

Fun fact: /r/furry (a sub which I frequent) does an amazing job of filtering out the problem users, despite having over 20.000 subscribers and hundreds of posts a day. Even /r/movies does a good job of filtering out the problem users when you consider how many people post in it in a single hour.
And believe me... Reddit is nowhere near as bad as the global channel in TERAs Mount Tyrannes server. Last time I was on one of the popular users was named "ThePornographer." That should give you an idea of how bad the /global chat was.

Literally everything you just said about Reddit applies to the entire internet. Not just Reddit.

I'm a member of a couple decent Reddit sub-communities under different names. I've met lots of cool people there.

I hate to say it, but consider why you joined yourself.
The same thing apples to these trolls. They are bored and instead enjoying the site the way you do, they spam garbage to entertain themselves.
Just like with YouTube, you're probably doing yourself a favor by ignoring comments.

Wouldn't Pinterest be in that category too? But the Internet is only a cancer if you let it become one. Just use it in moderation,remember to get out of the house once in a while and you should be okay.

It baffles me too why people are inclined to post on Reddit... or why people upload videos to YouTube, and then reply to comments about their video. Or why we even post at all to message boards...

Went to Reddit pretty often 3~ years ago. I stopped going there when I realize it was turning into Tumblr-lite and went back to 4chan

Reddit suffers from the same fate that all major sites online do. Especially with respect to social media and user submitted content.

Trolls are all over the internet. Have you ever read the comment section of a major story on facebook, or the replies on twitter to popular tweets? Same thing, if not worse. Youtube? Youtube is full of trolls going crazy on peoples videos. The anonymous nature of the internet allows childish people to start crap without fear of any real repercussions.

For those of us old enough, we recon back to a time where AOL had "police" in chat rooms that would basically ban you from using their service (and thus the internet) in it's entirety for swearing and other bad behavior. We are sure a far cry from those days lol
