I do prefer Windows XP. I wish I could go back to it. I might actually do that with an old laptop at some point. A big reason is that there are a lot of games that were made for Windows 95/98/2000/ME/XP that don't work with 7/8/10 (at least not without a LOT of effort) and I miss them. I prefer old games to the new ones so that is a big draw.


The other big draw is the stability you talked about. I remember leaving my XP machine running for months at a time and not experiencing problems with performance. And once service pack 3 was out you basically had no reason to restart your machine. I miss those days. I find with 7/8/10 that I'm getting updates so frequently that I can't leave my machine on for more than a few days before I need to restart. I have no idea if they are even capable of running for longer than that because I can't try.

I don't like it, but that's only because I started with windows 7 I believe when I first was introduced to the internet, so it was rare for me to use XP and the times that I did, I didn't like it at all because it was too different for me than what I was used to at the time, but there are a few good aspects, just haven't uses it a lot.

Yeah I do miss and love windows XP. I use Windows 8.1 and I can't even let my computer run more than a couple of days before things stop working or I need updates. When I restart it.. it's back in working order though. I keep it on most of the time because when I wake up I look at the clock from my  bed a lot. I left it on one time for so long it just shut off on it's own.. not to long ago either lol.

No, I've never liked XP.

The computers at school used to run it and it was always horrible to use. It had a very slow reaction time and in general just looks old.
Maybe I'm a bit biased because I've almost always used 7 or 10, but I've never had any problem with the updates every now and then. It only happens like once a month anyway.

Now, when I first started my computer days, Windows XP is what I had. I really grew to love it, and I think it was the most controllable operating system I have owned. I considered Windows 7 as a re mastered Windows XP, in all honesty. So I really liked WIndows 7.

Now, I have Windows 10. I really don't like it at all, it crashes my gaming laptop because of a problem that Microsoft's software has with Nvidia drivers. It's always without warning, and explorer.exe crashes. It's just a huge pain in the butt.

So, even though I love Windows XP, and it was the most controllable in my opinion, part of life is adapting to change. I think I'd say Windows 7 would be my current favorite. Hopefully Microsoft can get it together and fix Windows 10 though. The crashing is a serious problem.

I like XP. it's a good operating system, that being said though it's no longer being supported by Microsoft, so there's no real reason for me to keep running it. Mainly because not being supported any longer means that it's more vulnerable to viruses and the like..

People usually don't like change. So when a new OS comes out, or a website changes it's layout, etc - people complain and complain because things have changed. Then they eventually figure out how to navigate things and sort of forget they ever had complaints...then the cycle starts over again.

I've always liked Windows XP, I still do, and I'm pretty sure I always will! It's the most simple operating system I've ever used and I never had a lot of problems with it.

I loved the layout of it and the theme options were fun to try out. Plus it had Microsoft Sam XD My parents had an expert change my computer to have Windows 7 since Microsoft cancelled support for XP. I might not be able to use XP on a computer ever again besides once in a great while on my grandma's computer. I prefer Windows 7 but I still love XP and I miss it.

A good case in point of people not liking a OS due to it being different and/or new is me and windows 8! I was using Windows 7 FOREVER and then got a new laptop one time. It had the OS 8, and I couldn't stand it! After acclimating to 8/8.1, I sort of hulk smashed my laptop recently, and am now using the "Windows 7 abomination" as I now call it. I do declare that 8 is far superior to 7 and cannot wait til I get me a newer form of Windows again, but oh well. I'd go for 10, but this isn't officially my computer anymore!

Yeah I hear ya. People always complain about the new OS. I remember people complaining and complaining about Vista non stop, and you know what? I had a computer that ran vista that I had for 7 years that ran great. Never had one issue with it.

Usually with OS's the issues that people complain about are often caused by the users themselves ;-)

Too slow, too ugly, and the interface isn't very good in my opinion. However, it is very straightforward and isn't hard at all to find certain things. It's also very reliable and hardly ever crashes. But I feel like Windows 7 is infinitely better in every way.

Best windows OS in my opinion.

Loads of features and programs to mess around with, the theme may not be anything amazing now a days but at least it functioned perfectly. (unlike windows 8 and 10 *shudder*)

Yushe : I actually fixed up my netbook yesterday. I've already done the registry hack to get security updates until 2019.

My first ever desktop was a XP and for what it was it was great. It came with the advent of the home button, and most classic games on a PC can be played on it. I wouldn't solely use XP, but I'd maybe have a laptop with XP on it because it's just so nostalgic.

I do as geeo explained that's the reason I love it. As a matter of fact I grew up with it before going to window's 7. I would go back to having it again because of the games you were able to store on there. Despite the other half as kyana said it may had been a bit slow of the sort. I still loved it no matter what.

Slow? I think XP is really fast and doesn't use much memory.
Windows 8 is more stable but XP is faster.

It;'s going to be difficult to get drivers for it though!

I feel it is still the best operating system. I really enjoyed the feel of the OS. It was very user friendly, and I did like the look. I've always hoped they would do an update for it.

Yes I do miss the XP. I still have one and I think it is still a very functional computer and I really like being able to use it. It was a family computer that has really strict restrictions so can't yet access Vizzed on it but, working on removing that software. Once done, it will be great for playing RGR. 

It's only my favorite compared to every other Windows to be honest. Too bad I upgraded to Windows 10 which isn't as bad as I say however it's just not the right one for me. Would I go back and get XP? Without a doubt. 

I think it's OK. I still think Windows 7 and 8 are better than XP. I only used one computer with XP, and it was alright. It wasn't great or anything, but it was solid and got the job done. My personal favorite is Windows 8. However, XP is still way better than Vista or Windows 10.
