I dont know i got bored and decided to make this thread. As someone who has trust issues is seems hard to trust people even though you really want to trust one person. I just wonder if others have trust issues

I never trust people. It's been since childhood they would just trick me and leave me all alone. I don't have anyone I can trust. I'm just so paranoid.

Nods head* but I am even stricter with it more than ever now. Its hard to trust someone. But in other ways it is good to trust at least a few people. It doesn't have to be a lot. Because some people are not comfortable doing that. Trust it something that can be easily broken when taken advantage of. And it may be hard to gain that trust back. Lets say friends for an example. You have trust this person. This person knows you and you know this person. But then the person does something that you least expect and without explaining why. Therefore it can break that trust with the person that was once your friend. Or hopefully the person comes to explain his her actions as of why. :/

TristanTehGamer1 : Hah. My family always judges me about everything I do. I can't tell them anything without an argument. I have to agree that what they say is always right. Even if it's not.

Quhark : I agree as well that was um, the past me. You can never know the people who like to bully you daily would do to you on the day. And the next day. Your not being paranoid its something that is ok to have. Its hard to trust someone so you will have people who agree.

It takes me a while to warm up to new people, but once I have become friends with them, then I generally feel more outgoing and trusting with them. This is why I always have a multitude of different persona that I experiment with when I am faced with a new situation. I can be pretty harsh when it comes to forgiving someone, and I don't like the idea of betrayal which is why I don't put so much of my personal life on the line. So many people rely on their friends as a crutch when they are struggling with life, and they often reveal their deepest, darkest secrets to them as a result. I take a lot of precaution with this, and I am usually able to resolve most of my problems on my own.

Altogether, I have a very difficult time trusting people, I am even cautious with what I tell my closest friends. It isn't to offend them or make them question our friendship, rather, I use it to prevent false lies from spreading and someone getting hurt.

Razor-987 : I don't really blame you for doing what you do. Because you have reasons. Your not alone on that. Anything could happen the most surprising ones would be the last expected person to betray you. That would really hurt a lot. Its amazing how things just turn to play in life as you often think about many things and trust issues is one of them.

As for me trusting others, I don't really have this problem when it comes to either people I know, or just people in my environment. Never really had a problem.

I consider myself a pretty good judge of character, which is why I don't trust most people, especially people I've just met. XD

I have some people I can absolutely trust with important stuff, but I've known them for years. If I know you're not a a-hole, and we've communicated on a regular basis for years, yeah, I can trust you with some stuff. XD

I did have someone break my trust though. Everything was cool, we hung out all the time, he lived with my friend, and they were also friends, and I'd known him for a long time. Then, out of the blue, he moved away, took some of my friend's money, and some of my video games... That sucked. He came back, like, 5 years later, and we forgave him, but it was still a jerky thing to do.

Trust... I generally avoid people. It depends on the situation at hand. I can't just not trust someone, or entirely trust them till I know them. I generally will give them the benefit of the doubt before deciding to trust them or not. I will get to know them first. If I don't know what I'm getting into I generally avoid situations that would test my trust with people. I don't trust My sister, or other people who lose my stuff, lie to me, etc, but my closest friends I trust more then I should. It's a teeter totter really.

F. Starr : Yeah... exactly how I feel there. I can... but can't. My closest friend lost one of my games I let her borrow, but, I still trust her pretty well as I understood why it happened, but it still bummed me out despite me not caring much for the game itself.

It's weird, I really can't answer this question with a simple yes or no. The answer seems to evolve over time, and it's at the point where I'm not even sure anymore.

When I was younger (up until teens) I want to say I had no trust issues. Of course, high school had the amazing effect of making me learn to trust nobody but my best friend. So if I answered this in high school, my answer would be an easy "Yes, I have trust issues." Then after high school, I got my first job working at a factory.

The factory was kind of a wild place, because if you slack then everyone feels the burn. So, in this case, you really learned to trust your co-workers, which overall changed my characteristic feelings of trust. If you asked me if I had trust issues at this point in time, I would probably have said "No, I for the most part have no trust issues."

Then of course, the not-so-significant other from college enters the picture. Not diving into that in full detail, but let's fast forward and say that after the not-so-significant other enter the life, trust exited the life. At this point I would say "Yes, I have trust issues. Also, I avoid people like the plague now."

Finally I met my present day best friends. One got me to be social again, starting by convincing me to start playing guitar again. Then slowly we just did more and more fun stuff, and I actually overcame the wall I had built. I had also met my second best friend, and he's a totally crazy dude. I'm serious, when we do anything I fear for my life most of the time. Yet, he's still pretty dang cool and he shares many similar interests.

So, at this point in my life I would say "No, I don't have any trust issues. For now."

I say all this to say that, life is pretty much a roller coaster. You're going to build a wall, you're going to break the wall, you're going to repair the wall, then you'll dig a hole under it, then you'll fill it with concrete, and the cycle seemingly won't end until you're old enough to appreciate that things always change.
