I was rather surprised to discover a few minutes ago that today marks 3 years on the site!

This time last year, I was planning on leaving the site for at least a few months. I requested a demotion, cut some meaningful ties, and basically left today last year.

However, I chose to continue on as a Minecraft Server Admin. I've enjoyed the role, and I didn't foresee it taking too much of my time, so I decided to stick with it. That, however, was the means by which I got back to Vizzed.

Within a month, EideticMemory had convinced David to turn the Minecraft Server Admin position into a staff role. When David did, however, it meant I was gonna get promoted. Now, with that comes a CP quota each month, which I wasn't going to reach by being offline. Therefore, I was left with a dilemma...

I chose to return to Vizzed, and stayed on as a staff member until I was repromoted to Local Mod on Halloween last year. Since then, I've invested a large amount of time into both the site and Minecraft Server (logging over 160 hours on the minecraft server since being repromoted to Local). It's been mainly fantastic, you guys (mostly) rock!

Sadly, there were a few ties that have never really reconnected since deciding to leave last year. These people know who they are, and I hope they know I regret that decision for the sake of the lost relationships we have.

Another really sad point of this past year for me was EideticMemory leaving the site one month and 4 days ago. There was no context, no explanation, just an 'I don't know how to say this, so I'll just say bye' PM. I don't hold it against him, I know him well enough to know there's a good reason, but it's been a sad piece of this year.

I'd safely say EM and I have spent 300+ hours together on minecraft alone, not counting anything outside of that (of which there was a lot). We've done some awesome things, and it's sad to see that time end. I'm still hoping he shows up again soon...

That's not to take away from the other awesome friendships I've had. Some of the most meaningful include my friendships with A user of this, Singelli, Furret, Snowdeath, Davideo7, patar4097, Laian, Darkpower, and a few others). I won't go into details now, as this post will be long enough as is, but please know you guys have really made a huge positive impact on my life, and on who I am today.

Anyway, back on topic. I've hit a few major milestones this year as well. I've hit 10k CP, 5k posts, am currently tied for 4th in Trust Points overall on the site, and am 5th for Viz with nearly 3 million currently.

Changing direction...

You guys have really been the reason I stay. A community is nothing without it's members, and you guys have (for the most part) proven yourselves over and over again as great friends to spend my days with. I definitely plan to stick around for a while to come, and am looking forward to new adventures and new friendships.

I'll end with a quote from EM (made on the minecraft server)...

It's funny because we literally looked at that quote like half an hour ago.

Congrats on mrfe, 3 years! Especially these last few months you've been a great pal and we've done a lot of cool stuff on the minecraft server.

What happened with EM was pretty sad. You two were pretty close buds. But I'm sure he'll come back to us one day. If anything, you have a lot of great times to look back on right?

Anyway, congratulations dude! Hopefully you'll stick around to celebrate 4 years. That would be like...Being President of Vizzed!

I remember that mess from a year ago. Glad you decided not to be an idiot and wanted to stay awesome. You're like one of the 10 most awesome people here so it would have been a shame with you gone, plus you did some pretty awesome things. Now lets see if you can make it to being a veteran.

Congratz on reaching the 3 year milestone. It's cool that you decided to stay on this site after almost leaving. I hope that you'll continue being a great part of vizzed for years to come.

Congrats on staying here for 3 years! You've done so much and you've been one of the members I really look up to! We haven't talked much other than being dramatic about passing each other in post count (and now I'm 344 ahead so that might be over ).

I'm very sad about EM leaving as well. We posted in each other's threads so many times, and we joked around with zanderlex in my thread about laughs, which is a dead thread now. I've been praying for him. He seemed to be in a rush to leave and I think that's why he was so unclear about it. It must have been very important like you said.

Speaking of new friendships, which you mentioned in your post, I've been meaning to say this for a while but I forgot. I think you and I would make great friends. We have similar humor and you've posted in a few of my threads as well, so I've gotten to know you a little more once in a while.

mrfe : Congrats on three years, Merf. I really never was good with words, but I can say that I'm really glad you decided to stay. I know we've never talked a whole lot, but I was genuinely sad when I heard about your decision to leave.

 Congratulations on three years, merf! The impact you've been able to make on the site for these three years has been great, and it's been good to have you as a friend during those times. Along with plenty of other users on the site, I'm glad you decided to return, and I'm hoping you'll stay around until your 4th anniversary on Vizzed as well!

Congratulations, sir. I guess this means three years is creeping up on me as well. These people...they suck you in and never let you back out!!! I'd run but we both know it would do no good. Alas, we're trapped forever in game nerd paradise...not like that isn't a terribly wonderful thing though, because it totally is.

Anyway, yes congratulations man. Three years is a pretty decent mark, I'd say. Here's to three more years if Vizzed can handle being so merfed (may result in even higher levels of awesomeness).
