The NES games aren't working so well for me anymore and I find the boards are... stuffy.

I'm out.  I'm all set with Vizzed.  It was fun for a while, it lost its flavor, there was some resurgence but things are just.... well, I just going to take off.

I watched as no one emailed Singelli as much as she was loved so I won't worry about leaving an email.  I don't think anyone will care what happens beyond this community.  That's fine.  I have no problem with it.

If I may say one thing: The thing that's driving me away and I'm sure has turned others off is the drive to be correct.  Whether it's 'the rules' of the threads or where something should be posted or regular members summoning MODs because members think thread questions are answered and things should be closed....  You folks are missing the big picture.  Instead of getting stuck on "Well, what is this categorized and what forum should it go?" you're missing the message.  It's about the interaction, the conversation, and building relationships through words.

The point isn't being right.  The point is interaction.  That's why everyone is so lonely.  Many people miss out on interaction for the enjoyment of the experience.  Stop worrying about grammar, specific facts, and stop apologizing for maybe putting a thread in the wrong place.  Everyone should focus on talking to each other.

I know what's going to happen next.  There will be some scrutiny of what I wrote.  "Maybe it belongs in Cafe Corner because it's relationships!"  "No, no, it's a general forum post."  A MOD will step in and solve that problem.

Probably some folks will try to find the grammatical error I put in on purpose.  They'll point that out and feel happy about themselves because they were right about something.

Probably most people are going to miss the point of this whole thing and I spend 400 words venting to a brick wall.  With any luck, I'll impact one person for more than 5 minutes.  I don't believe in luck.

Vizzed has run its course with me.  I'm done.  I hope you enjoy your time here, I hope you make good decisions in real life, I hope you realize profanity just means you're bad at vocabulary, and I hope you all find some kind of peace and acceptance in the real world.

warmaker : I'm sad to see you go, though we didn't really talk much at all, I was always of the opinion that you were one of the best posters around, something probably a lot of people would agree with me on.

I agree with what you said, this is why I hate things like this happening during the TdV (it happens outside of the TdV too but it's at it's peak then) you aren't posting because you actually care about a topic or want to interact with others most of the time, you just do it to increase your post count and get a high score, but what's the point of that if you don't even care about any of the posts you made in the first place?

I still post fairly actively when I find a topic that interests me but I'm not near as active as I used to be before.

warmaker : You make many smart posts. We'll miss ya, warmaker. Hope you come back someday. I agree with you when people summons the mods. It's annoying. The mods will do the work. Anyway, I hope you come back someday, and good luck for your future.

I've never noticed how much people focus on correction here before. Maybe I haven't paid enough attention to what goes on in these forums, and I should to help this community become more of a community.

Thanks so much for making this post, and hopefully you'll enjoy your life outside of vizzed! I'm not going to say I hope you'll come back, since you don't want to. I'd rather let you do what you'd like.

Those people who keep pointing these things out (like I admit I do, and hopefully will no longer do, with threads' locations) really should see this thread. They're right about the errors, improper thread locations, and things like that, but they aren't right about how they should go about posting on this board.

It's a community, not a "Correctors Anonymous" meeting.

Warmaker, you've been one of the most mature members I've ever seen on Vizzed. It's sad to see that one of the great faces of Vizzed is leaving, I will most definitely miss you man.

Everything you said there was right, many people here don't make this feel like a community, that's why we have our own sub communities within each other's lives, just no one made the move to put you in theirs. Some people here just aren't out there and noticed by a ton of people and therefore can sometimes be ignored.

You were one of the first members who I wanted to model my maturity after. You're one of the Vizzed greats to me, I'll miss you man.

I hope to one day see you back here on the boards.

It's quite sad to see another beloved member leave Vizzed. I agree with you on what you just said because I don't find many threads and posts as interesting as they used to be when I first started as a newbie around a year ago. School has made me more busier than before but I try my best to stop by on Vizzed. It is quite disappointing when we all come from the real world and then when we go on Vizzed to see anything interesting, nothing much really happens because everyone is so focused on being right.

I hope that you will continue on what you do best in the real world. Your wise and unique posts will be greatly missed around here. Thank you for what you have done on Vizzed!

   It's pretty sad to see you leave, but you have your reasons, and I can understand where you're coming from, and can respect that. You've been one of the most mature, wisest, and just one of the users I have respected the most on this site, and it's a real shame to see you leave.  But I wish you all the best with your life. I know we never really interacted all that much together, but I will definitely miss seeing you around the boards.

Maybe I souldn't say it, but I agree with all of the things you said (aside from the idea that Vizzed is not enjoyable anymore). I too feel that most of us seem to miss the point in posting here. We make it about reaching new milestones or posting more than others, but who posts just to hear and be heard? Who builds relationships? I don't mean chat relationships where we talk to one another when we pop into a chat room, or where we acknowledge that someone else posted sometimes. I'm talking about real relationships. Real life is becoming more and more connected to the internet, and the fact that most people interact online instead of in person, or meet their friends online is becoming true of more and more people everyday.

People, we need to be human, not the most active board user, or the wordiest member, we need relationships. We need each other. We need friends

What we don't need is grammar police.

What we don't need is people who post just because they want to get 1,000 posts each month.

What we don't need is people critiquing everything we say in a review/walkthrough/article/post in general.

What we don't need is people summoning Mods because they disagree with a decision about a thread's location, title, or whatever. If a rule is broken, Mods will find it. Only severe things need to be pointed out, leave the rest to the Mods and staff.



What we do need is interaction. Don't reply once and avoid the thread from then on. Quit worrying about posting too much in a thread: you'll be stopped by the site before that happens. Forums are about having discussions, not making a single post.

What we do need is people caring about other's thoughts and --I CANNOT stress this enough-- feelings. Look at one another as people, not users/posters. Enough already with this "Well I'm right and they're wrong, so I don't care if they're hurt by my thoughtless remarks." And please PLEASE stop playing these childish games of "well people hate me because I'm religious and telling them the truth", and "people hate me because I like the same sex". Let's get over ourselves and try thinking before speaking. If people hate you it's because you're a jerk and/or stuck up! Harsh but true.

What we do need is people putting actual thought into their posts, and substance into their threads.

What we do need is people helping and valuing one another.

What we do need is maturity.

What we do need is people like warmaker.

I agreed with a lot of the things you said, if not all of them, and I think you're really cool, but if leaving is what makes you happy, then I guess I shouldn't be too upset about it, haha .

I have a lot to say, but I can't really put it into words... It's funny; people say I'm good with words (I think you are, too!), yet I never seem to be able to find them quickly enough, heheh! 

Besides, what I could have said using words was basically already said by Eirinn!

Anyway, your entire post is basically a perfect reflection of my thoughts on this site (albeit slightly more negative), hence my recent inactivity, but it's made me realize just how much I feel that way.

I understand your decision. I probably won't leave anytime soon, but I really do understand. It's a little unfortunate since it's the people like you who make me love this site even more, but, as I'm sure you've noticed, they are extremely difficult to come by, so it's OK!

I think you were one of the most awesome users! Hopefully, perhaps, future users will learn from your posts or something... Use you as an example of how to behave or something. Ugh, I don't even really know what I'm trying to say here xD, but it's basically this: I hope your influence on this site stays long after you're gone, because I think it's a pretty darn good one !

warmaker :  I understand how you feel. As most users, I signed up in right after the Retro Game Room was put up. The board doesn't seem to be nice anymore (curse you, Tour de Vizzed!) and everyone doesn't get treated the same. Now, I'm not sure if I'm the only one who thinks this, but doesn't the Tour de Vizzed make things a lot harder on Vizzed? As warmaker said, the point is interaction. Not being correct. And no, I'm not going to leave Vizzed (at least not anytime soon), but I feel with the increasing number of Vizzed users who aren't sure whether this or this is right, I hear you. I've been on Vizzed for 3.5 years now, and I think it might reach its low point. Oh, well.
