The Eagles are at it again. They have signed Quarterback Tim Tebow to a one year contract.
He says he has been training like crazy the past couple of years. And I will admit, even thought I haven't seen anything yet, he does look like he'll be at least just a tad better than before.

So why are people hating on him? It is because he has poor stats? I got an argument for that: he wins games. Joe Montana and Tom Brady have plenty of 4 quarter comebacks, so why dig on Tebow for it? Is it because he is open about his religion? I may not be religious, but the guy is not trying to shove his religion on anybody! Sure, he's quoting bible verses and singing praises to his god, but isn't that what any person who is serious about their faith does?

So, I have a couple of questions for you guys...
1. Is this a publicity stunt by the Eagles?
2. Does Tebow have a legit chance at making the 53 man roster?
3. What chance does Tebow have of being the starting quarterback?
4. What are your thoughts on this?

To me this is exciting news. He's not necessarily a "great" QB but he can play great at times (especially in the 4th quarter) but watching him is so much fun because you never know what to expect with him. He's capable of turning any play into exciting yardage.

I do respect him a lot for being outspoken about his faith but that's not necessarily the reason I respect him a lot, it's because he backs up his faith with his actions. You see a lot of athletes (or humans in general) that are outspoken about being Christians and yet do things that make Christians look bad. Tim Tebow practices what he preaches and he's an amazing role model to not only the youth of this country but to every human that claims to be a Christian. He does a lot of great things with his down time and even during games he does great things for kids with various problems.

Chip Kelly seems to go about football in a unique way so even if he doesn't make him the starting QB, I could definitely see him utilizing Tebow in great ways. If Tebow becomes the starter, I think Kelly could easily utilize Tebow to his fullest potential. When Tebow played for the Jets, they didn't seem to put any effort into using Tebow and that was definitely a shame.

So yeah, I'm very excited to see him back in the NFL. I'm not so sure he'll have a starting role for a while but I can definitely see him making the team and getting a few opportunities here and there to play. I watched almost all of his games (that I get access to) when he was in Denver and I plan to watch all of the games he plays in Philadelphia.

I personally do believe that this is a big publicity stunt by the Eagles because unless he can beat out Matt Barkley and become their 3rd string, he has no chance of making it on their roster. He knows how to win games and that's the most important thing you can do in the NFL, but he's an extremely inaccurate passer. I don't think he'll ever be a starting quarterback again. Heck, he may not even make a 53 man roster again. He completely blew his chance of making the Patriots roster in 2013, and I don't think he'll do enough to make it on the Eagles 53 man roster. Also, it has nothing to do with his religion. There are religious players who've had success and stayed on their respective teams longer than Tebow has. A good example of this is Andy Dalton. Though Andy's been terrible in postseason play and primetime, he's always had a winning record in the regular season, he's christian like Tebow, and he even went to a christian college, TCU. Anyway back to Tebow, I'm sure this is gonna be his last chance in the NFL. If he blows it, he can just go back to being an analyst for the SEC Network.

I definitely think it's a publicity stunt, at least to a point. The Eagles aren't exactly the most popular team in the NFL, but they gain a whole fanbase by signing Tim Tebow. It'll pay itself back, if they play him enough to let him strut his stuff.

I think that Tebow has a great chance at making the roster, but mainly for publicity reasons. I know he's been training with a personal trainer ever since his last time with an NFL team, so he may have improved to the point where his skill can land him that third spot. I do think that, even if he doesn't make the roster based on skill, he'll be playing in a few games this season to help the Eagles gain that fanbase.

If there's one thing Tim Tebow can do, it's win games. I mean, he took the Broncos to the playoffs, despite a horrid QB rating. He's not a great individual player, but teams win when he's on the field. Can't ignore that.

Everybody is talking about how Chip Kelly is so crazy and nobody knows what the hell the Eagles are doing. Its actually kind of funny to me because the Eagles are my least favorite team in ANY of the 4 major sports, so I could care less. Now lemme answer your questions...

1. I'm not sure if I would say its a publicity stunt or not, but if they'll give Tebow a spot just for the publicity, then Chip Kelly really is insane. I mean, how many other guys on that team will bust their butt during preseason to get a spot? Pretty darn near everyone if you ask me. Also, there has been a lot of talk about the Eagles drafting Marcus Mariota and if that happens then you have Sam Bradford, Mark Sanchez, Matt Barkley, Tim Tebow and then Mariota on their roster...5 QBs. I think it'll be pretty easy to get rid of one ( Tebow ) if it comes to that, but I think the signing of Tebow may mean that the Eagles aren't after Mariota. And that brings me to your next question...

2. If the Eagles draft Mariota, then I give Tebow a 0% chance of making the roster. There is no way on earth that will happen. However, if they don't get Mariota, then I'll give Tebow a...30% chance of making the final roster. If he can impress enough during the preseason, he may have a legitimate chance, but making the roster still does not guarantee him playing time.

3. Seriously? Next question...

4. If you ask me, signing Tim Tebow means absolutely nothing. The only
thing it could mean is that if the NFL makes that decision to put the
ball at the 1 yard line after a TD, they could use Tebow for the two
point conversions if they so choose. Its the only way ( barring injury ) that I ever see them actually using Tebow.

In a league that's clamoring to find QB's off the scrap heap, it's really telling that he couldn't find an NFL job for all of this time, even as a backup. If he was at all decent, he would have at least been on someone's bench. Tim Tebow is not a good NFL quarterback and anyone that says he is, isn't living in reality.

Chip most certainly wants a circus around his team and did this not only to push the QB's already on his roster, but to get attention from the media.

Tim Tebow will not make the roster unless there are tons of injuries in camp. The Eagles currently have 5 QB's on the roster. Tebow hasn't played in a regular season game since 2012 and hasn't started since 2011.

Unless he decides he wants to change positions (which he has refused to do in the past) and/or play for the league minimum, I kinda doubt that there is any chance he makes the regular season roster.
