Hey there, people from the land of V! Green here with another thread! So, this time, it's another life question. Do/did you choose your job because you like it, or because you want to survive? That's a huge difference. In my opinion, I would choose a job because I want to survive. For example, let's you say you like to be a game developer, but you win poor money (It's just an example, not sure if game developers win good money). There's another job which you dislike it, but in that job, you win a lot of money. What are you going to do? Are you going to select the other job, or just stay in your game developer job? Again, I would choose a job because I want to survive. What about you?

I'm not actually sure. I would love to do something that I have a burning passion for, but at the same time If I couldn't make a decent living at it. Id probably try and find a job that I tolerated, or enjoyed (The people at my work make a significant difference)

I mostly choose my job because there is a few games and consoles I wanted to get such as the 3DS and the Wii U, but being 20 years old at the time, I didn't want to ask my parents to buy it for me, I want to accomplish my goals on my own terms, and I have done that, well, halfway done. I manage to buy a 3DS last Summer, not the Wii U yet, but I am planning to buy a Wii U hopefully by my 22nd birthday late next month.

So really, I didn't really wanted to get a job on where I worked at, but I didn't have a lot of experience to build off with better jobs I want, just stick with the best I can get really.

I chose the job I had now because I had to get a job. I don't hate the job I have now. I just hate the hours that I have now. If I worked evenings instead of nights, I would be more happy.

I must say, if anyone is working a job just to survive, make it as short as possible.

You HAVE the power to change your life and do something you love, it won't be easy, but you can do it. Write down your goals, and then make a plan of attack based on that. I would hate to live life dreading work all the time.

I chose a job in retail because I felt like at that time it was my best option. I'm glad I made that decision because I really like my job a lot. So I chose it because I like it.

I haven't been able to actually work there as of now, but I already picked out what my first job is going to be. I'm going to work at Food City, which is a grocery store. I'll most likely be working as a bagger, though. I picked this because..well..my mom made me. Yeah, she wants me out of the house right when I turn 18 xD

I have a job, at my dad's restaurant, I am doing it right now to get my PC, which i'm saving up money for up.

And I would probably not stop my job if I didn't like it. But I do like it. I don't have it to survive or anything. I just have it to get my PC.

My present job is an internship and it pays pretty good money for an internship. Plus it's in something I love (writing) so the answer is a).

However last year, I did get a job for "survival" at Wal Mart in order to have a little money for another internship that didn't pay as well. It's typical retailing - neither better nor worse - and the salary was decent ($9.30). However, I will need to be COMPLETELY desperate to work there again. I have not studied so hard and blogged everywhere to shelve merchandise.

I chose my job simply because I love doing what it requires me to do. I am constantly inside a building that I have been happy to call my second home for the last 5 years. If you know me, then you'd know that I'm a huge bowler. And my job requires me to work inside a pro shop, inside a bowling center. There are a couple little things that could be a little better if it was totally up to me, but I have almost the perfect job.

Another thing I like about it is I get to meet new people every day. Nothing is better than having a customer whom you've never met before tell you that you did an outstanding job drilling their new bowling ball they purchased.

I choose my job because it was the only place that would hire me at the time. and it paid the bills. So more out of survival than enjoyment.

My very first job was just to earn some money. My current Job is something that I enjoy doing. I believe that God opened doors. I got involved via an Autism group as I have Autism. In time it turned into a job were I research, write articles, and present at conferences. So I enjoy  my job.

My other job is a volunteer job I do not get paid for this but I am a weather spotter, and amateur storm chaser

Some people are happy. Others are not.

A job is a job, and one needs a job to stay aloft in society. That's one of the many versions of what Ive been told as Ive grown up to the young adult I now am. Its a no-brainer that anyone would want to work at a job they love, but what if they dont know what they want for themselves? Then youre stuck trying to find another job you may struggle with just to make the ends meat, just so you have enough to discover what you want for yourself, if you ever do.

I dont intend to be some depressing ninny on the subject, but from my eyes, people work to survive (I mean lets face it, most jobs that just about anybody can get are absolute crap). I know of people that pursue what they feel they want for themselves, some have gotten far enough and they find themselves happy. I dont neglect the possibility that I could be just like them, but I havent figured out what I want to do with myself. I want to live yes, but what do I want to do in the meantime, to make this life worthwhile? It takes much time to consider and to make that decision, and even then, it takes the experience to discover if this is what you really want for yourself.

Ive been through that experience enough times to learn that that is the only way how I will learn what I want for myself, by taking whatevers available, and doing things that I never done before. Will I struggle? Yes. Is there a chance I wont get that job because everybody wants someone with experience? Yes. As there are no guarantees, and how the world seems to make getting and/or keeping a job more difficult these days, its trial and error, and then some more of it to get something.

I dont know how people find what they want, but to say in the very least of it, Im jealous.

I chose my last job for a mixture of the two because I was doing Summer Youth and as a part of it I had to choose from about 6 different places, though I didn't really like any of them. I ended up choosing a hardware store that was about a mile away from my house, because of the distance and because I figured this sounded like a place that could be interesting and that I could learn a few things if I worked there for a bit, which I did.

Global Moding is something I do because I love it. I don't get paid for it... and honestly wouldn't want too. I feel it's the least I can do for David, and it's not like Global Moding is hard enough that I feel like I deserve money for it.

Besides, what would a Light Knight do with money?

Viz, on the other hand, I would probably accept.

I don't have a job at the moment, but I will work part-time starting in July.

On Vizzed, I started helping out because it made the most sense to do so.

With all of the hours I was spending using the site, I had more than enough time on my hands to help others out while I was at it. I still have a lot of fun on the Minecraft server, posting on the forums, and using the RGR, but now I spend some of that time answering questions and giving back to the site.

This is a rather interesting topic especially to everyone who is working out there.

Sadly, money is the most important thing that is helping you financially in order to help you survive. Would you rather work for goodness of your heart or work to survive as long as you can? It often conflicts many people especially on needs of it.  There are some people who would rather go for the high paying jobs and meanwhile there are some other people who would rather go for a job that they enjoy the most despite of the decent-low pay that they would receive.

I think it is tough to find a job that you would enjoy while getting a good amount of money for it these days. In general, if you want to get a job, you would have to try your best to gain experience in the standards of today's society. Would the short term experience and short term pay help you get a long term job/career that requires lots of experience but you enjoy working? The answer is yes.

With the experience that you gain along the way, you will eventually want to go for the job that you really enjoy working every single day. Experience does shape your mind on what you want to do with the rest of your life and there is nothing much more rewarding than working in your perfect life long dream job regardless of the pay.
