Titan127 :
Some women can be inefficient. So are some men. Some men can be extremely lazy. So are some women. On the flip-side, there are a lot of men and women who are efficient. Just like there are a lot of men and women who are active. The problem with your broad generalizations is that they're really not as true as you might think. They also contort the way you view reality. They act sort of like the blinders people put on horses. If a women is inefficient, you'll be quick to see it. If a man does the same thing, you might not notice. That's why I try my best to toss out generalizations, and instead I look at people for who they are individually. Some women can be inefficient. Brain-Splattered : I treat all sexes equally, there's no point in babbling over the topics of each gender granted some may do this and that but it dosn't define a gender. At the end of the day we are just human and we are all different in our own unique way. |

kirbmanboggle : Exactly. That's why these type of threads exist so that we can get every unique human's perspective and opinion in order to create generalizations Half of the threads on this site (no offence to anyone) is pretty much pointless and a babble bath. This one sparked interest. Look, were on page 2 already |

Alright, don't think I pulled this one yet, but...
Which one was dominant for thousands of years? And which one is celebrated as 'the first' in almost any public office, and is almost never seen there again? Some people thinks that both Men and Women are completely different, but the truth is that it's really the same. Sure, males have a whole lot more work into them and have more strength than Women (what's why you mostly see Men work more in heavyweight jobs and Women work in lightweight), but the truth is that sometimes, Men and Women both have the same interest some things and some, not so much. We really can't lead to one side of the scale on which gender is more superior against the other, some people say that Males are more dominating that Females and Females are more dominating than Males, to me, they both are equal on what they do really. Without Men, Women can't really survive and without Women, Men can't really survive, that's mostly on how the world runs mostly. For me, that's why I threat both genders with equally because they are people after all, and how we communicate is really all the same. Just to make a point about 'gender' vs 'sex 'here, I am going to show you my Fantasy Life (3DS) character and then...
This is my female huntress Saiba and her kitten Scootie! Truth is, this is not unusual behavior for me in games - I play females all of the time and I have many reasons for that. Many of which, some might consider 'girly'. 1) Girls more often than guys are pretty to look at, and tend to have much cuter modes of expression in games (IE: Cat Emotes and other such things), 2) I like to play 'dress up' and girls 95% of the time get way better clothing and customization options. Guys get... ball caps and beards. ...Yay. It's like developers automatically assume we're all tasteless slobs who would be happy with a box to wear. Gee thanks. 3) The assumptions other guys tend to make about a dude who wears fluffy, brightly-colored attire and has a cat for a pet aren't so hot. It's like, if I am not carrying a big sword with a dragon in tow or I am not dressed like an assassin there must be something wrong with me. 4) My personality is just... really feminine. I don't know how to describe it, but the few times I have actually played as a dude -- most people assume I am girl playing a dude (or that I am gay) so it's almost kind of pointless! Outside of the game, you could not tell me apart from any other guy. I am not flamboyant, or a particularly snazzy dresser, I have a full beard and I am into things like programming and even watching MMA (I used to take Karate, I might add). I do not consider myself either gay or transgender. I am not even bi-curious. My whole deal with playing as a girl online is simply because games give me free reign to express a more feminine aspect of myself that real life would never tolerate. I think I developed more of a feminine side than a lot of guys have precisely because I grew up in a household full of women with no father around. Because I was immersed in a highly feminine 'culture' 24-7, I grew to identify a lot easier with women. This is also the reason, IRL, 90% of my friends are women. I've read scientific studies that state that gender, as opposed to sex, is culturally-defined... but it can be very hard to identify where gender's influence stops and sex's influence begins when it comes to human nature. Finally, here's a question for you: how can you possibly declare one sex is 'this way' and other sex is 'that way' when you have freaks like me running around defying pretty much every stereotype that has ever existed? IMO, I think it's pretty much impossible to. I mean, there are biological inclinations sure - I'll give you that. My female friends are definitely a lot better at having kids than me (LOL), and sure I am far more likely to be able to lift a heavy rock or something but.. apart from that I think the major differences often cited between the sexes just aren't real. Lumian: Ok I am going to keep this short because I have already stated my opinion and the fact that I am on the fence and cannot choose one over the other. I get what you are trying to say and I agree for the most part. At least I agreed with and was going along with what you were saying until you said this - " Finally, here's a question for you: how can you possibly declare one sex is 'this way' and other sex is 'that way' when you have freaks like me running around defying pretty much every stereotype that has ever existed? " Now I am not going to go crazy with this even tho I would like to. I will just say if you consider yourself a freak then by all means go with it. I am the least like a girl kind of guy you will ever meet but I as well like playing females a lot in games. I am nowhere near a snazzy dresser .. in fact I'm kind of slobbish. I prefer loose and comfortable clothes. Dressing up is not something I like to do to myself. I'd say about 85% of the friends I have ever had were all girls. So yeah I'm in the same boat and do not consider myself a freak. Whatever floats your boat but don't come in here and insult us girlie thinking types. Yeah what I am trying to say is probably not coming out right but I hope I get my point across. For others who read this sorry for the rant but I took exception to this and had to say something. Brain-Splattered: Woah, woah, hold up dude. Lol. You are taking my use of the word freak far too seriously. Nowhere in my post did I ever come across (IMO) as if I wasn't comfortable with the way I am or that I consider it 'bad'. Quite the opposite, I am quite proud of how I am. I would not have even posted that for potentially all of Vizzed to see were I not. Chill, man, sorry that word set off some kind of defense there. Edit: I would also like to point out, my use of the word freak is english appropriate: According to the Free Dictionary, 1) A thing or occurrence that is markedly unusual or irregular. ...And we are. It's true there is a negative connotation to the word freak sometimes, and it can be easily misunderstood, but I want you to know that was -not- intended. At all. Lumian: Well I stand corrected then because I took it to be the negative side. I didn't really need the definition but thanks anyways. Glad to hear you are proud of it, as am I, and i could really care less what others think of it. Sorry for the rant at ya' but you have to understand I took that as negative and same as anyone else would do that felt slighted in some way, I reacted and responded. I had no way to know ( I can't read between the lines or assume ) that you did not mean it that way. So anyways like I said, I apologize. Have a good one dude. |

それはだいじょうぶだ。(It's okay!) Sorry for the random Japanese there, I am practicing my basics lately. Haha. But yeah, this kinda ties to my original point. The assumption that we all fit neatly into these gendered boxes can be so prevalent in modern society that it can really create a lot of unnecessary tension for both sexes. There's nothing wrong with a girl who happens to like 'manly' hobbies like hunting or wrestling any more than it is for guys to like bright, fluffy, cute things. IMO, we as a society really need to get over this idea that human nature fits neatly into lovely little boxes instead of being the messy, amorphous, thing that it is. I don't really see how there's much of a difference. Yes there are some biological differences between men and women but I don't really think that makes one sex better then the other at handling certain situations. Society is what affects how you act not your gender. |

Also...some girl told my cousin not to tell me she wanted to go on a date with me, (well how did she think that would go?) and I am down 35 bucks now. So not only evil...but they poison your mind! Brain-Splattered : Men. No, I'm not sexist, but studies have SHOWN that men are more prone to retreat to their survival instincts and fight back, where as women in ancient history needed their husbands for protection, and since they raised the children, they are more prone to talk things out (for the most part). Again, ancient history has had a huge effect on the psyche's of the human race, including different ways the genders act and think, proven by scientists on multiple occasions. Obviously there are exceptions to both mind sets, but for the most part this is how the genders think. |

Brain-Splattered : I swore that I would never post in the debate area again, but I am intrigued by your quite daring question. The best answer that I can give you is...NEITHER! I know...I can feel you all looking at me as the one who is unwilling to take a side. But it's not quite that way. You see, men and women have different qualities in general that are both essential for life. Sure, Mothers may be better at handling a crying child, because they have patience--more so than many men. But Fathers are good at fixing things that children break, or picking them up when they fall, or providing for the family; because he's got strength. Neither one alone is better at taking on the challenges of life. Not all men are the same, and neither are all women. There are men of patience and women of strength. It all depends on the personalities that we have come to develop, and the role that GOD intended us to play. |

Super sexist thread, but I'll post here anyways. Men are sometimes too ambitious, women are... girly, to say the least. They seem to try to handle everything like it's the most important thing. But that isn't bad, is it? They care a lot about things. Yes, it is bad. Really sexist comment right here: Women overreact and tend to handle things much more seriously than men. Too seriously. I'm going to say this: Women are great at taking care of things, but don't seem to have as good of a handle on their lives as men. I'm going to say this: Women are great at taking care of things, but don't seem to have as good of a handle on their lives as men. |

Excuse me but the thread was not meant to be sexist. It's a simple question of what each gender can handle and up to the poster who is better at doing so. This is the debate section of the forums. Didn't know any subject was off limits. If I had meant it to be sexist I would have worded it much different and started it out by bashing one gender or the other right off the bat as my premise for the thread. Thanks for your answers tho. Enjoying the reads very much. Take it easy all. |
