do you ever like or dislike the posts on this website?

Of course I use the system, but rather sparingly nowadays.

For example, I'll only like a post if I find to be truly funny, entertaining, or otherwise admirable. Usually this is reserved for good reviews or Chat Comic posts, but there are exceptions.

I only dislike a post if I feel it's atrociously spammy, offensive, or otherwise pointless and detrimental. Usually I reserve dislikes for plagiarised reviews or eye-gouging spam, but again, there are exceptions.

a-sassy-black-lady : I'm not sure, but it appears I don't know how to like or dislike posts. Rather, there isn't a like button anywhere for me to click on (As of now).

I think everyone knows by now but uh... I use it a LOT.  Typically, I'll like posts that I think are wise, kind, or show maturity.

However, if it's in one of my own threads, I'll like a response to show appreciation for people contributing to my conversation, and to let them know that I read their response.  I know some people just create threads and never read a single thing people have to say on the topic.... which seems a little rude to me.  I create threads because I genuinely care what people have to say on the topics, so it's only fair that people know that I enjoy their contributions.  However, not all posts need a response, or I might simply wait for many responses to be made before I chime in.  By liking someone's post, I let them know I read it until I do respond.

Dislikes are for hatefulness, immaturity, spam, and idiocy.

Very, very rarely do I use a dislike a post only because I disagree with what its author is saying.  (Actually, I don't think I never have, but I'm not going to deny it's a possibility.)

I don't mind using the liking system, if used the right way, it can be a good way to express your thoughts on a post or thread. I don't use it a whole lot personally, but I still think it is a good feature.


As I said before, I don't like post a whole lot just because I don't feel like it, but whenever I do, I make a point to like things that actually show that thought and effort was put into making them. When it comes to debate type issues, I really like to hear what people have to contribute and bring to the discussion.


As far as disliking posts go, I don't bother doing it because it is just a means of starting up an unnecessary spam/flame war which is the last thing I need. I would really have to strongly disagree with the topic to dislike it, and even then, there are still better ways to convey my thoughts to the topic creator. Overall though, it is a nice feature to have and something we will continue to have if we can remember to use it properly. 

I like and dislike posts a lot. I use up all of my likes / dislikes pretty much every day. Well, every day that I am active that is. I do a lot more liking than I do disliking, I will only dislike a post if it is offensive or just pure spam. I usually only like posts that make a really good point, are really funny, or are just well written posts.

I only use the post like/dislike system when I genuinely like/dislike or strongly agree/disagree with the post I'm reading. Becuase of this I rarely use the system, but I do still use it. I've only disliked a few posts in total, disliking someones post just opens the door to flaming so I'm hesitant to dislike any posts. However, the liking system I have used much more than the dislike system becuase there are simply more posts I like/stongly agree with than are post I dislike/strongly disagree with.

I don't mind using the liking system. I only use the likes, not the dislikes. I will only use it when something hits me and gets me to think about a person's post or it's a post that I really agree on.

I only use the like and dislike system whenever I feel like liking or disliking a post, which is pretty often. I will like a post I find to be either entertaining or agreeable, or I felt the post made a good point. I will only dislike if I feel the post is either spam or immature.

I feel like most of the answers here are funny... I mean who would use the like/dislike feature to perhaps cook a pizza for example... 

Obviously people have more than just one reason, but using the feature because that's the point of the feature... is well.... how do I put this.... pretty obvious...

I will also admit that I tend to dislike posts more than like posts simply because my mindset is likely different to most peoples. To explain, I see good posts as the normal... I mean a post that isn't spam and actually responds to the thread isn't good, it's what is expected...  If that makes sense. 

Any post that basically fails to meet that I dislike, Granted some threads can't provide the above like most crazy house threads and elimination threads... but then again you can usually tell who is replying to a thread with thought.. And who has simply read 10% of the first post and replied with a generic, badly made post.

I also would like to admit that the lack of care I feel towards people disliking me is a contributing factor... A lot of users on here seem to be scared that people may dislike them, for simply stating their opinion.. Which is kinda stupid because freedom of speech and all that. 

Plus if you never tell anyone what they are doing wrong, How do you ever expect them to notice their mistakes and improve from it.... Jus saiyan.

thecrzyguy : The like/dislike options are at the bottom left of the post.  I didn't know that myself until recently, when someone in that 'what do you eat for dinner' thread commented that they wished they could like someone's response... he did know about the buttons, but apparently they don't work for him.  I'm not sure if it's the same with you, but just in case you hadn't seen them, now you know.

I've never used the liking system so far, but I may now that I do know how to.  If so, it will only be when I see something I really, really like or dislike.

I feel the same way as Boxia, I'll use it but only when I truly like something or hate something, I've used it once already but that was to test the function.

I rarely use it, it's one of those features which has little purpose anyway. Of course I have liked a couple of posts here and there, disliked a couple of posts here and there.

I use the like button when I agree with a certain post or comment or if I think a review is amazing.

I normally use the liking/disliking system if it's something that is interest me, or if it helps me and the rest of Vizzed out and I dislike anything that breaks the rules of Vizzed. Other than those, that's mostly it.

Every once in a while I like comments. I've never disliked a comment, I've just never seen a comment where I thought it should get disliked. I guess that's because I'm not a meanie . I only like comments I find funny or if I can relate to them .

I only like a post when it really speaks to me, and dislike those that are poorly made or irrelevant. Since the system has been introduced, I've only rated about 10 posts, and only two of mine have been rated (no downvotes yet ).

   When I use it, it's sometimes less of the content and more my awareness that it exists. I am more likely to use it on something like a review or walkthrough that were able to keep my attention and were well written, but otherwise, it's more spotty that I use it. Usually, I'll use it on only posts I feel really strong about. Unless I'm in a post-rating mood, and I might be more likely to rate it. But otherwise, it's not a very normal occasion that I'll rate.
   I'm with Sonic on something he said about down-rating too, and I think he hit the nail right on the head. I tend to use the dislikes more because you should be posting good content, so basic following the rules kind of post normally goes by without rating, but one that spams is much more likely to remind me of that little dislike button. 

Like a few others who have posted, I don't know how to use it. I've looked down in the bottom left of the posts, and I don't see anything.  Is this perhaps because I'm new?

If I could like posts, I'm sure I would do so fairly often!
