The Innocent Town forum does not recognize the TDV as a reason to post your inane bullcrap (only Leggy's inane bullcrap will do, because you all love Leggy, and no one loves "you").

Should you disobey this chief rule (unless you are Leggy) you will be sentenced to being hit by a bus being boiled alive being trampled on by Leggy recommended for a ban.

Here in Innocent Town, we are ALL about quality control. Unfortunately, in the TDV, most members turn off their Quality Control Devices (Or QCDs for short). These QCDs are important. They are what prevents you from rambling about the same thing in 20 different threads at once and going through the motions.

Side effects of having a QCD removed include, but are not limited to:
-Swelling of mouth, from being punched in the face with a ban hammer.
-Infinite sadness of all those around you
-A line through your username, and in extreme cases, a darker line.
-Roasted skin from your time in the IT penitentiary.
-The loss of Leggy's respect, which, while unquantifiable, is the single most important thing in life.
-Did we mention the swelling of the mouth?

But seriously. Do not spam in IT during the TDV. Or any other month really. But NOT the TDV. Because we will find you. We will hunt you down. And then you will be reported to the Local Moderators. Or if you are extremely awful, geeogree. Do not make me report you to geeogree. Because geeogree will not be as forgiving as I. Or maybe he will.

I personally don't mind spam during normal times. It's a bit of fun being silly or crazy in a thread but during the TdV we all know why the posts are being made. It's not because you have something clever or funny to say but that you want to increase your post count to win a jersey. Don't do it. A 1 day ban will kill your work for a day so don't tempt me.

I don't see "spam" or "silly posts" as literal spam in non-TDV months, because in the end, it can still be quality.

My definition of spam, is "Pure garbage, something that exists for the sole purpose of boosting post count, and does not have any relevance to anything presently going on."

For an example for everyone else, the following post is spam

Davideo7 Marriage Proposal - This is spam because David is not only married, but there was no lead in, or any sort of referenced in joke. Outside of which, the post was short, and clearly existed simply to boost one's post count in a way that would lead to very few people being able to respond without themselves also spamming. The range of the joke is incredibly small, and only applies to a few people. It might slip by in a non-TDV month, but fails to follow the biggest (unwritten) rule in Innocent Town. "Be funny, not stupid."

The following post is similar in nature, but was suggested by various people.

A Bajillion Onions - On top of onions always being hilarious, it was clearly a reference, and the person immediately responded, further dispelling the notion that it was as one misguided person said "Global Mods (colon) pure spam. And I hate onions.".

To further this point, let's look at another post in the very same thread, which while "spammy" looking, due to its short length, and "pointlessness" context... is not spammy, because it is completely relevant to something that happened in the thread.

"You Suck" - Proof that something short is not necessarily low quality. It's an objective fact that the post was of high quality, due to 8 people liking the post originally, and no people disliking it.

Randomness is not inherently good or bad. Quality randomness is truly one of the better things about posting on a forum. There are laughs had by all (except a few negative nancys that will always complain because they can't make people laugh themselves) and when the joke runs its course, most people leave the joke alone, and let it fade into obscurity, archived for future generations.

Bad randomness however, is awful, and leads to pure, unadulterated spam. Spam is bad. Do not spam.

I couldn't have put it better myself. What a great explanation of how and why something is or is not spammy.

You should copy that post and make a thread about what is and is not spam

Before someone posts here requesting for me to be banned, let me point out that was a joke. I would prefer not to lose my elite status, so I don't really want to be banned.

I'm not going to ban you . I don't ban people for having an opinion. I ban people for not giving up on something once I've clearly made my feelings clear. It's when people don't give up and think that they can someone "win" by pissing me off that the ban hammer comes out.

Yeah, this is honestly the extent of what I'll post about today, and in fairness, I'm doing it to self-police a rented forum that is well known and popular, and has a reputation for silly posts. I have been away the past couple days, so I come home and see spam, and needed to make a point. The point is being made.

I haven't competed seriously in a TDV since the Summer 2012 one where I ended up winning the whole thing. My time as a prolific poster who carries the activity of a board is far gone. I just have way too many things on my hands these days to worry about something so insignificant. Plus, I find the idea of competition silly. Post how you feel, and be honest about everything you say in posts, and genuine. Do that, and things will be fun, how they should be.

Plus, let's be honest, even if this did somehow get extended, with the amount of people who "do" compete, the odds of either of us finishing in the top 5 in any jersey is grossly unlikely. Any points I really got in the past TDVs I didn't compete in were the red and yellow jerseys. And with red changed, I'm far less likely to score in that jersey

As a founder of Innocent Town, I would not report that post for spam. On top of not being a spammer in nature, your post wasn't offensive. It has a point that I personally disagree with, but a point all the same.

Spam are posts without any real point, relevancy, or offensive nature.

Had you posted saying

"You guys are f***ing idiots for posting spam in this spammy thread"

Then I would have taken offense, and reported you. However, you have not. So you are safe. For now.

Forgive me for intruding this thread but.....I have to admit what I read here made me laugh. Not for bad reasons of course. And also leggy is leggy as I always say of what he does and what he does. That can't change no matter how you want it to. So I pretty much resent of what you said here leggy. I hope what I said here is not out of spam....

I can second this. The spam here can be excused as long as the person qualifies as a zebra. In which case it's Leggy. And since I don't make these types of threads that often, he's excused. There's funny threads, then there's spam. Don't do it, bub. I'll take a close eye on the forum.

You guys are being kind of unfair. First, Barathemos's thread was funny, and he was mocking other people that make "will you marry me" threads. Second, his post in this thread was not spam. It was a valid post with a somewhat valid point. You guys pick on Barathemos a little too much.
