My cousin, Jason Vosler, was just drafted in the 16th round (469th overall pick) by the Chicago Cubs!

He is a shortstop and he was in his junior year of college at Northeastern University. He was the first player from Northeastern to get drafted this year.

It may actually be a good thing to get picked by the Cubs. Since they are bad, he may have a better chance of making it to the majors.

I'm also glad the Red Sox didn't draft him. Seeing as he's a shortstop, and our shortstop depth... we don't need him. We already have Xander in the majors (despite the move to third for 2014, he is the shortstop in 2015 and beyond unless someone big comes through the system), and we have a system that already has Deven Marrero (think Jose Iglesias), Tzu-Wei Lin (same type of player, but less likely to reach it), and we also have Mookie Betts (who could well be the shortstop, and is playing out of his mind right now), Sean Coyle, and a few others who could play short.

Not to mention that we drafted Michael Chavis, who no offense to your cousin, is "far" more likely to make the majors, given his first round status. Could be a tremendous SS.

That's pretty cool, I congratulate him because that is a pretty big accomplishment to get drafted into a team...and the first one at that! I really don't know all that much about baseball since I don't watch it, but I honestly think it is a big deal to get drafted at all, despite the team you are on...but that is just my opinion. 


So congrats to him and I hope enjoys every minute of it.

The Cubs are my second favorite baseball team. Bad thing they aren't that good. At least he got drafted at number 469! I feel truly happy for him. It's rare getting drafted. But I'm pretty sure he won't get that much playing time.

I know that I am a bit late to the party but...CONGRATS! I'm a big baseball fan (have been playing since I was 5) and the Cubs happen to be my second favorite team, next to the Tigers. On a personal note, a friend of mine was just signed by the New Orleans Saints over the summer. He went undrafted, but the Saints signed him and he is currently battling for a position on the team. His name is Seantavious Jones, and he plays WR.
