I have never heard of people putting salt on pasta. Is this an american thing? Why, it ruins the benefits of whatis otherwise a very healthy food.

Hm, i've never really heard of putting salt on any pasta before. I'm usually the one throwing crushed peppers on it and Parmesan cheese when it comes to spaghetti or something. Same goes with salt in macaroni & cheese either. O_o And I don't think you're that weird, Awesome-Kid, you just have a specific set of tastes when it comes to food and what you put on it. Nothing wrong with that at all.

I remember this one month a few years back that was really rough for me.  As in I had no money, no electricity(reading by candlelight is not easy), and basically only green beans and spaghetti noodles to eat for the whole thing along with a few spices and condiments.  During that month I ate pasta in every way conceivable and probably in some ways most would never think of.  I had pasta with salt, garlic salt, hot sauce, pepper, I can't even remember all the ways I ate it.  I do remember that stuff just doesn't stick I was hungry all the time.  It did lead to kind of a change in the way I eat it now though as I put loads of pepper on it.  Salt isn't bad with it but I gotta drench the stuff in pepper nowadays.

Most of the time whenever I do have pasta, I have sauce on it as well, and the only other thing I will put on top of that would be some shredded cheese. Sometimes I don't even need to do that if the sauce is just right, I don't really use salt on anything to be honest, unless it is something really bland and could use some flavor that salt would solve. Otherwise, no i don't put salt on my pasta, or on anything else.... good question though...
