About a month ago I made a thread about malicious urls on Vizzed. We came to the conclusion that it was our anti-viruses be too cautious. Well avast has been detecting malicious urls again but this time it is more than just it being extra careful about the web. This is essentially worse.
This has happened to me multiple times today while being on vizzed. Every now and again it will suddenly take me off the vizzed site and onto this Malicious url. Luckily Avast prevented me from actually visiting the site. If you want the official link for proof I can give you it but you should come prepared. I think it is against the rules anyway to post such a link.
So take this thread as a kind of warning. Get anti-virus software as soon as you can because there is some sort of threat going about.

If you have had any experience with Java-updating-now.com feel free to post here.
Also if you think this has something to do with having a trojan virus because that could be likely, please let me know... if you actually know the answer.

STAY AWARE!!

Hmm... Interesting. I tried to go to that link to see if my antivirus will stop it but it just gives me a 403 forbidden error and does nothing else. Yea, we even have to watch out from ads nowadays.

I would just like to say that I do not have anti-virus and I have never had a problem. I do not plan on getting anti-virus, so if this is actually because of Vizzed and I go missing, you will know why xD

I think I said this in a thread before, but when I use my laptop (Windows XP, no antivirus), I do not get any popups, or get randomly taken to different sites, or any problems at all. When I use my mom's computer (Windows 7, Avast anti-virus), There are all sorts of popup ads and I have been taken to a different site multiple times for no reason.

tgags123 :
You probably said that in my other thread, who knows.

Ok things are getting a little weird hear if I am the only one getting the problem. I am really starting to think I have some sort of trojan virus since windows said that I had no anti-virus! But I didn't think trojans can generate fake warnings the way that it did. It came up in the official windows "solve pc issues".
Anyone know anything about this?

mohammedroxx3 : Yep all of the ads are pretty dodgy here, just moving the mouse over them makes the pop-up blocked thing on crome trigger. But this is different, before I can actually use the page, a little like the well known white screen problem that everyone seems to get but of course this is not a vizzed based site.
So do you want me to PM you the full url?

I actually got a "malicious attack" by a URL of the site according to the Norton Anti-Virus. I'm not sure what it is, but I can confirm you're right.

Davideo7 : I think you might need to see this.

How I look at it, if it's a site that I just don't trust, like if it has anything with the word "-update-", " -now" "-for free", or anything like that
So like the link you mentioned, I ain't visiting because it's a site I do not trust at all. If I feel like anything needs updated, I go to that official site, not a 3rd party site.

Is there anyone without anti-virus that is having any problems? I think the anti-virus might be having "false alarms".

IgorBird122 : I am pretty sure what he is saying is that that website randomly popped up while he was on Vizzed.

tgags123 : I don't think it would be. That was the previous issue I had, where avast was being too careful on the web. This literally to me off the page and nothing was related to vizzed in the url. And I don't think I have seen any java update ad scams, just ilivid and the typical flash player ones.

MechaMento : Lol ilivid ads are everywhere! That's werid, that only happens to me on my mom's computer, which has anti-virus.

I like the ads on Vizzed. A lot of them are interactive and fun. Some of them have little games that I play and others haves polls that you can answer without it taking you to another page. I have never seen any inappropriate ads (except one for comfort bras, which is borderline inappropriate), any popup ads, and redirections, or any malicious ads.

tgags123 : Hmmm, well, that is really strange that it popped up out of nowhere, because I haven't got a strange pop-up so far right now and I don't think I will. although a couple times I got a pop-up, but that site url has been blocked (I put in a block so nothing like that happens).

MechaMento : This has not happened to me, but I have had zonealarm tell me things were tring to get in my computer... Like keyloggers and voice recorder.. oddily enough the file path said the viruses were going to Notepad.exe. none of us could figure out why, so we assumed that it was just a false positive. These things still pop up, but I deny access to file for them

As far as a malicious URL, I've yet to encounter one. But I do have a question...

Where on the board did this pop up? I'm just curious.

A Few things I wanna note here, and there.

1) That site is probably a trojian site, or virus site. Usually If Java updates, It will usually take you to the offical java.com site.

2) Don't trust avast. Now I used to have avast, it's a good antivirus program. I was trying to play ff8 on my computer. Avast went stupid and removed a game file flagging it as supicious, and because of that. in order to play the game, I had to get another anti virus software.  My computer hasn't been affected by that file of the sort, so avast can be a little screwy from time to time.

It's a good thing you've made this thread, but I'd figure I mention this.

3) If it's coming from pop up/ad. Then simply use ad block or ad block plus, Those programs remove all types of unwanted advertisements.

SuperCrash64 : I wont be using adblock. Davideo7 will only get the advert money if the ads are seen, not how times you are on the page. I am not sure it will quite count as a pop-up. It literally just happened from no cause randomly. It has happened from being idle and just coming onto a page. And it doesn't even open a new tab, vizzed just goes completely.
As I said it took me off the vizzed page and onto another. Luckily avast helped me by blocking its access. This meant that google would think that the url does not exist. The entire link had a ton of AAAAAAAs in it so I just knew it was bad, I didn't even have to look at the java updating now part to know it was a malicious site.

yoshirulez: I left my computer on the index page only to come home to that page now that didn't happen as soon as I went on that page. That could be a problem for people who write stories and reviews because they could be typing away and then boom, all their work is gone and they are on java-updating-now.com. This also happened to me while making a layout but this time it was sudden. Within a second of viewing the vizzed page, the trojan page came up. The same thing happened while browsing the rgr and while posting.

The next time it happens I will take a screen shot of it.

I remember a while ago, my computer was running really slowly once I logged into Vizzed. I saw these ads pop up out of no where, and on every page, and that never happened before.

Apparently a third party installed an ad extension to Chrome. It was an easy disable+trash, but then it installed again a few days later. I am really unsure if it is Vizzed or not. I don't click any ads (I never do), but it seems to come on when I go in Vizzed.

And regarding malicious urls, Chrome usually brings me to a page with a red text box and a message regarding the url and how it may be malicious and such, so when I accidentally click on one, Chrome saves me. I have an extension for Chrome called Click & Clean, and I do weekly malicious software checks and such.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
