Friendship. Many people use this word to describe what they feel like the have with people they know. But what would the consider TRUE?friendship? You can call people you know 'friends', but can you call them your 'true friends'? Do you think they aren't using you to get something they want, to play with you, hang out with you as a dare?  Do they hang out with you outside of school, invite you places, try to bring you up when your down? What do you call a true friend? How do you distinguish one in your minds eye?


I actually wrote a small poem on what I think true friendship is, and also posted it else where. Here it is.

"A true friend helps you when you are down
They make you feel like a ruler, put on your crown!
A true friend doesn't leave you in the dust
They will always have trust
A true friend is your partner in crime
They will be with you for all time
A true friend doesn't stab you in the back
They help you with your plans of attack
A true friend doesn't let you mope
A true friend gives you hope
If your friend doesn't do this
Then you don't know what a true friend is"

This, is what I believe a true friend is, and what a true friend should do for you. What's your opinion about true friendship? Do you think you have a true friend?

You kind of remind me of myself when I do this types of thread lol. Well a true fried will always stay beside you, no matter what. They will be there for you through thick and thin. Friends may fight but, if you are a true friend to sort it out, then you will know if you are one. A true friend will always guide you and help you. To believe more in things that you would had never imagine. A true friend will help you pierce the sorrow you have, and will speak the words you want to hear.....a true friend will help you. When you are in a pit full of trouble and always have your back. We should really ask ourselves sometimes, am I doing whats right for my friend? A true friend will give you the advice, you need to help you more in the future.....a true friend, needs to care for their friends, love and show them maybe the impossible that has never been seen. A true friend will help those that they don't talk to much and to a stranger as well. A true friend will comfort those that are in trouble and in depression...


I started to learn friendship on vizzed and I am still going at it. I feel that I still have more to learn ^-^

True friendship may be not lying, being nice, and sharing.

I think a true friend is someone that you know very well and someone that you trust completely. Also, someone that will always be there for you no matter what. This kind of friendship takes years to develop.

Honestly true friends are everyone except the people that stab you in the back I like to treat everyone as a friend so everyone is equal to me.

I think that true friends are the ones that are always there for you and they support you and will be your friends no matter what happens. Through the good and bad times, they will be there for you. A good friendship depends on trust, honesty and also they will not be afraid to be around you. You can tell someone is not really your friend if they go talk to their other friends and you come around and they pretend to not know you and ignore you. You can tell they aren't a real friend.

So that is what I think a true friendship is, what it depends on and also how you can tell someone is really your friend and not faking it. Good thread question by the way.

A true friend is someone who is with you during the good times and the bad times, never betray you, and willing to stay by your side. A true friend is also someone you trust and will comfort you when you are down. Most importantly for me, a true friend will never stab you in the back, use you for their own entertainment or for fun, or will never lie to you.

On a side note: I like the poem. It's nice and shows what true friendship is.

For what it takes to have a true friend is that one friend is always honest to you and never lie to you and just using you for their advantages, and also, true friends always help you in a time of need like when you really need it really badly. It doesn't matter if you're friends with them for like a day, or for like ever, as long they're truthful and nice to you and not just using you, then they're your true friends. 

A true friend is a person you trust with all your secrets.  You two know each other and can have a conversation with just facial expressions.  You understand how they see the world and you may disagree but you like them anyway.  They understand how you make decisions and they support you no matter what you decide to do.  You can argue and fight and still love each other deep down.  True friends are few and far between and they stand by you no matter what, especially when you mess up.  They help you clean your messes and they don't leave you for other people, for kids of the opposite gender, or because they're late or they'll get in trouble.

True friends are probably the most rare and beautiful things in this world. For me, because I'm really shy and socially awkward, it's extremely difficult to make even friendly acquaintances I don't feel terrified to talk to, and it can take years for me to make a casual friend, so they are perhaps even more rare. A true friend, I think, is somebody who truly understands you, and raises you up, and never leaves you feeling alone when you're sad, and doesn't kick you when you're down. A true friend supports you, has your back, and can always make you laugh. You've been through a ton together, and you will never, ever stab them in the back or let them down. They are there for you, through thick and thin.
I'm not really sure if I have true friends or not. I have good friends, certainly, but it feels like every time I make a friend, even the ones I was pretty sure would be my friends forever, they eventually stab me in the back and end up being really mean to me. I'd like to say the friends I have now are true ones, but I've said that about quite a few people in the past, and they never fail to prove me wrong, which really stinks, because when I have someone I believe is a true friend to me, I would literally do anything for them, assuming that it's not say, illegal or completely against my beliefs. I guess I just don't have much hope for trusting people anymore... Even now, one of my friends I thought was a true friend will barely even talk to me without going on the attack, and I guess I always knew it was coming because she gets really, really jealous, but it's just so uncalled for! I mean, all I want is to get along with and be nice to everyone, is that a problem?! Because everyone ends up teasing or bullying me!
Sorry for the rant. I've just struggled a lot with this, ever since I was really little. It's so hard to know who really has your back in this world... It seems like more often than not, they're just laughing at you when you're not looking. I just always feel like I'm missing something... And then I realize that these people I thought cared about me just think I'm a joke, and I look out into the halls where all these people are effortlessly laughing and talking, and I wonder "Where did I go wrong?"

True friendship means that they will choose you over money or opportunity if it came up to that. Someone you can entrust your secrets with, and they don't expose your secrets. This kind of relationship takes years to develop, and a second to destroy.

How I base friendship is from my best friend, we have been friends for over 8 years! In fact, we are practically brothers. I always go to him for help and him to me. We tell each other everything and I know we are awesome friend because of how we spend time with each other.

I only have a couple of true friends in real life. There is a lot of things that define a true friend in my opinon. People scattered pretty much my 8th grade year when I went into homeschooling I only have one girl who kept up with me and invited me places. She to this day is my true friend. Most of the others don't even speak to me unless I speak to them. Don't text unless I text first. So basically I don't have anything to do with them. A true friend is somebody who is gonna care for you and make you feel better when your down. Not somebody who puts you down or tries to change you.

True friendship is based on trust. Trust that no matter what happens you will stick together. Trust that you both aren't making fun of each other behind the other's back. Trust that you will suggest ideas to help your friend and not act on feelings of jealousy. Without trust, true friendship doesn't exist. 

I think...someone who you would stand back to back with when in danger. Someone who you can trust your entire life to, not just physically but spiritually. Someone you can talk to about anything and can share your entire life with. A true friend is someone that you know you'll always be with. But maybe I'm thinking of a "best friend". I guess a true friend isn't really that extreme, maybe just someone that you can trust. Not necessarily someone you'd share your life with, but someone that you can still trust with your life if necessary.
